    Mcdavid, Bouchard, and a lot of their players are developing. This team had something overlooked, all the pro panellists, of which 80% said Dallas would win, which is passion. When you have a city that makes their team the be all end all, I can get behind this result.

    • @lup1up
      @lup1up 8 месяцев назад +6

      Totally agree with you. This final 4, probably all if them had really insanely high passion except maybe Rags. But EDM has passion PLUS insane expectations. From media, fans, but most importantly, themselves.
      Now in finals, it's even more crazy. Because just on the other side is another team with about the same level of passion and self expectation. You see how Tkachuk and barkov talk about how they felt after losing last year, etc.
      This is gonna be wild! But so, so we'll deserved either way it goes. IMO it's one of those years a lot of ppl would be happy if both teams could hypothetically win

The Oilers have a lot of players that really are coming on and were never going to be dominated by the Stars. Hyman was one of my favorites when a Leaf and is now as an Oiler. One thing I did NOT do was write the Oilers off when they had that horrendous start to the season. A lot of people did write them off, and that obviously was a big mistake.

    Don't forget that when the Oilers got spanked by the Hurricanes, the Hurricanes were also in the basement of NHL standings and had no consistent goal tending until after Christmas. So they went down to a Hurricanes team, that at the time, had no goal tending, bad defense, and a hard time scoring

    If you recall, the St Louis Blues were also in at the bottom of the rankings, the year they went to win their first Cup. Ever.
    2018-2019 season, everyone figured the Blues were going to go the same that they'd always done. Jake Allen was as effective at stopping pucks as your average deli-sliced swiss cheese, and they were, at one point, the bottom of their division, and pretty close to the bottom of the entire league. And then they pulled out a win. Binnington, for all the shenanigans that he's had in recent years, was crucial to that win, bc of his ability to stop the pucks that Allen couldn't. (Yes, I'm fully aware that Binnington is a slur, these days, but give credit where credit is due; the kid helped the Blues win their first cup.)
    The Oilers didn't change a goalie, bc they knew that Skinner was the dude that could get it done. They changed coach, and it was the spark that was needed to shake things up, and give the Oilers back their belief in themselves.
    TLDR: Oilers are going to take the Cup in 5 games.

    The fact that they were outshot 3 to 1 and still won the game says a lot about both the goaltending and the defense. I have seen Stanley Cups won before with teams using this strategy. It is usually hard to score goals in playoff games, so the strategy is not "who scores the most goals wins", but "who scores the least goals loses".

      That was coach SL McNeil's philosophy when he took the reins as coach of Montreal in the 1970-71 season where the Bobby Orr led Bruins just about destroyed every offensive record in the NHL that season.
      McNeil spoke no French but was allowed to test his coaching theory.
      McNeil wanted to battle hardened the Habs during the season so when the playoffs rolled around the team could deal with any circumstance and come out a winner.
      McNeil eliminated set lines for the team insisting that players learned to be able to play with any team mate during any point of the game. McNeil wanted to having some losing streaks during the season to teach the players how to come out of the stall, pull up their socks and start winning on command. McNeil wanted to get ready to play the powerhouse Bruins and take them to 7 games and win the series with a rookie goaltender, a goaltender Boston never saw before and didn't have time figuring out his weak spots.
      Montreal finished 3rd that year, beat the Bruins in 7 games, and won the Stanley Cup that year.
