Meet the rival monarchs of the gypsies. Florin Cioba claims he's King of the Roma. But try telling that to his cousin -- Emperor of all Roma Everywhere.
"I am the greatest leader. This is what everyone will say", declares Emperor Iulian Radulescu. His dispute with cousin and rival claimant, King Florin Cioba has descended to the level of personal slurs. "I've told him three or four times to go to the mental health institute". But it's a squabble that has little impact on the lives of ordinary Roma, arguably the most discriminated against group in Europe.

Main article: Origin of the Romani people
Linguistic and genetic evidence indicates the Romani originated from the Indian subcontinent, emigrating from India toward the northwest 1500 years ago. Genetic findings in 2012 suggest they originated in northwest India and migrated as a group.[48]

This exonym is sometimes written with capital letter, to show that it designates an ethnic group.[36] The term 'gypsy' appears when international research programmes, documents and policies on the community are referred to. However, as a term 'gypsy' is considered derogatory by many members of the Roma community because of negative and stereotypical associations with the term

It just funny how other white races are want to be better then the other in this case the other white race think they better then then the gipsy race but the questions is if they really are better then the gipsies?! I came across diffrent sort of gipsies and guess what?! There are gipsies in every white country and the truth is that they all diffrent from each other dffrent culture, diffrent way of dressing, diffrent appearnce. The races i loved were the american, polish, russian gipsies which didnt look like the gipsies in the uk or in Romania. They don't live in caravans and never lived it one of those. (This if for them people that say that gipsies don't work) 1 in 3rd millionaires!!! You can't tell because they're white and they they are no different to the other white race. They don't usually work in public place as majority of them own a business which doesn't require to be there every day... So do not judge when you see them resting in their garden! (This is for all people that say that gipsies are thief's) every race steals black race, brown, and white race which includes gipsies. But guess what is the country wouldn't steal from us the queen would be starving. Also all races blame black race for stealing but our white race it the worse thief's you could ever come across with. And one and most important thing never call a american, Russian, polish gipsy a Romanian gipsy as they would be very offended and could lead to you loosing your life as they have no respect towards that race because of the respect their are loosing because of them!!! I wrote this from my own life experience. Im white and I'm not one of them people that is up for anti-racist shit...

"Romania was an open invite for the gyp's to have a home". Wrong. Gypsies have lived in Romania for at least 1000, years, maybe longer. They were brought there as slaves.
"No other country wanted them". Except Bulgaria, Serbia, Turkey, Egypt, France, Russia, Spain, USA, UK etc
"Show me a gypsie that donates to poor people and pays taxes". I work for music publishing company, & we have 7 Roma clients. They all pay a lot of tax. One pays for school, food & housing for 40 orphans. What do you do?

Read the book "Bury me Standing". There's a part about Florin Ciaoba's father Ion. They've come a long way (at least economically) since Communism ended. And yes, in that part of Romania the Rom have big, lavish houses (at least for guys like Ciaoba). But throughout Europe, Roma children are begging on the streets and sniffing glue. Florin Ciaoba hasn't reached out to them so far.

According to recent genomic studies, the Roma reached the Balkans by about the early 12th century.[48] In 1322, an Irish Franciscan monk, Symon Semeonis encountered a migrant group, "the descendants of Cain", outside the town of Heraklion (Candia), in Crete. Symon's account is probably the earliest surviving description by a Western chronicler of the Romani people in Europe.

2,000,000 gypsies in Romania???? Who lied to you?
    This is from Wikipedia:
"The Roma (Roma in Romani; Romi, Rromi or Ţigani in Romanian) constitute one of the major minorities in Romania. According to the 2002 census, they number 535,140 people or 2.5% of the total population, being the second-largest ethnic minority in Romania after Hungarians.[1] The Roma are, however, also Romania's most socially and economically disadvantaged minority, with high illiteracy levels.[2][3][4][5]

This article is about the Romani ethnic group, and should not be confused with Romanians, an unrelated ethnic group and nation. For other uses, see Romani (disambiguation). The Romani are an ethnic group living mostly in Europe, who have been traced genetically to a group migrating from the northwestern Indian Subcontinent about 1,500 years ago. Romani are widely known in the English-speaking world by the exonym "Gypsies" (or Gipsies).

They are known collectively in the Romani language as Romane or Rromane (depending on the dialect concerned) and also as Romany, Romanies, Romanis, Roma or Roms.
Romani are widely dispersed, with their largest concentrated populations in Europe, especially the Roma of Central and Eastern Europe and Anatolia, followed by the Kale of Iberia and Southern France.

@Krisznyo Hungarian historian Theodor Lehoczky writes in 1890: The regions from Northeastern Salaj were, without a doubt, inhabited by Romanians before the Magyar elements managed to penetrate into this region.
Hungarian Gábor Fábián writes in the ethnography of Arad in 1835: The Romanians are the oldest people here, and if it is true that they are the colonists of Dacia after Trajans conquest, then they can be considered as the aboriginals of this comitat

  • @alex4ucj
    @alex4ucj 14 лет назад

@Krisznyo i wasn't talking about Istvan and Arpad, those were not the greatest Hungarian kings, i was talking about Hunyadi and Corvinus, who's grandfather was a noble Vlach from Wallachia, with the name of "Voicu", also Hunyadi's mother was by Orthodox religion, meaning that she probably was a Magyarized Romanian, this noble family had good relations with the Romanians who lived in that county, being triple more numerous than Hungarians, so this 2 kings had Romanian origin, there's no doubt

It is very simple-GYPSY KINGS live in Romania today; if Gypsy kings live in Russia today, the title of the film will be "Gypsy Kings-Russia". If Gypsy king lives in Albania, the tile will be "Gypsy Kings-Albania". If Gypsy Kings live in France today, the title will be "Gypsy Kings-France". Don't feel offensive (I know that Romanians don't like the West to stereotype them as Gypsies.)

Romania spent four generations in the darkness & ignorance of Ceausescu's communism. Which is partly the reason why many there haven't yet realised that human rights apply equally to all the people of their country, not just those who look or think like them. Roma have been in the Eastern Balkans for 1000 years. That's longer than the existence of Romania.

The Romani language is divided into several dialects, which add up to an estimated number of speakers larger than two million.[26] The total number of Romani people is at least twice as large (several times as large according to high estimates). Many Romani are native speakers of the language current in their country of residence, or of mixed languages combining the two.

Historians and linguistic specialists had thought they may have emerged from the modern Indian state of Rajasthan, migrating to the northwest (the Punjab region, Sindh and Baluchistan of modern-day Pakistan and India) around 250 BC. In the centuries spent here, there may have been close interaction with such established groups as the Rajputs and the Jats. Their subsequent westward migration, possibly in waves, is now believed to have occurred about AD 500.

. The word Gypsy in English has become so pervasive that many Romani organizations use it in their own organizational names.
In North America, the word gypsy is commonly used as a reference to lifestyle[38] or fashion, and not to the Romani ethnicity. The Spanish term gitano and the French term gitan may have the same origin as a reference to Egypt

The Americas are also home to large numbers of Romani. There are an estimated one million Roma in the United States; and 800,000 in Brazil, most of whose ancestors emigrated in the nineteenth century from eastern Europe. Brazil also includes Romani descended from people deported by the government of Portugal during the Inquisition in the colonial era.[24] In migrations since the late nineteenth century, Romani have also moved to Canada and countries in South America

    Gypsy
    See also: Gypsy (term)
The English term Gypsy (or Gipsy) originates from the Middle English gypcian, short for Egipcien. It is ultimately derived from the Greek Αἰγύπτιοι (Aigyptioi), via Middle French and Latin. It was once believed that the Romanies, or some other Gypsy groups (such as the Balkan Egyptians), originated in Egypt, and in one narrative were exiled as punishment for allegedly harbouring the infant Jesus

Please make the difference between Romanians and Gypsies.
Being an inhabitant of Romania is not the same as being a Romanian ethnic.
Romanians are of real European origin, and the native ethnicity of Romania.
On the contrary, Gypsies came from Northern India, and they spread across all Europe (Romania, Serbia, Hungary, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Spain, Greece, UK). Therefore, they are not Romanian ethnics.
Stop making confusion between Romanian ethnicity and Gypsy ethnicity!

Contemporary populations suggested as sharing a close relationship to the Romani are the Dom people of Western Asia and North Africa, and the Banjara of India.[50]
Historians and writers have suggested the emigration from India likely took place in the context of the raids by Mahmud of Ghazni[51] As these soldiers were defeated, they were moved west with their families into the Byzantine Empire.

Either way coming to America right before the Communist uprising was a good decision. Many Romanies choose not to register their ethnic identity in official censuses. There are an estimated four million Romani people in Europe (as of 2002),[40] although some high estimates by Romani organizations give numbers as high as 14 million. Significant Romani populations are found in the Balkan peninsula, in some Central European states, in Spain, France, Russia and Ukraine. Several million more Romanies may live out of Europe, in particular in the Middle East and in the Americas.

Romanians descend from Slavs much more so than Romans. At any rate, they are not Romans even if they bear some relation to them. Neither are the French, Spanish, or other Romance-speaking groups Romans.
Gypsy language is related to European languages both in terms of ultimate origin and also in terms of borrowed vocabulary. Gypsies are also related to Europeans due to miscegenation and perhaps primordially (Aryan theory). That does not necessarily make them Europeans.

@Krisznyo a different dialect from us, their own language, that was formed in south, the Aromanian dialect that was split from Proto-Romanian, so if we would be Balkan migrants, that means we should speak now the Aromanian dialect, but we don't speak it, we speak the North Romanian dialect that we formed here during Roman Dacia, some theorist believe that the south Aromanians (Vlachs from Balkans) arrived from the north side of the Danube area also, a Greek chronicle mention this

Romania is the country of Romanian ethnics.
There is a great difference between Romanian ethnicity (of European origin) and Gypsy ethnicity (who came from Norther India).
Regrettably, most Gypsy ethnics are creating problems in Romania and have a lifestyle based on lawlessness.
But please make the difference between Romanians and Gypsies ; they are two different ethnicities.

Romanians are not Magyars, maybe the ones mixed, and Magyars are more Slavic than Romanians, Romanians are from ex-colonist that Romans brought in Transylvania, Celtics, Germans, Italics etc, and also Thracian (Dacian) later with Slavic influence, Cumans only a small part of Oltenia and maybe

They have the possibility to go to school, but they don't send the kids to school, not even till 4'th grade.
They don't like education. It should be made some special arts schools or something for them.

"People deserve to be treated as they act. Am i wrong for disliking people who steal everything they can come by and misbehave?" I agree with everything here. Just don't judge people by their ethnicity.
The UK got to where it is today by having some people like me trying to educate the people like you.

This means that all Roma Groups ( Sinti, Kalderascha, Domari, Lalleri,Manusch, Lovara,Jarajay etc.) have their origin in India thats why most of them have a dark skin and the ones who have a more lighter skin have been mixed with european people...Romanians are Latin People...The only thing Romanians and Roma have similiar is the name...So Romanians why do you treat Roma people so bad? Only because they have a similiar name? Is this the fault of the Roma that european people mistake you withrom?

You're lucky if your girlfriend is really Romanian. Central-Eastern Europeans aren't more racist, but we haven't been brainwashed yet by political correctness so we have the guts to speak out our mind more freely. Also non-white people are pretty rare here, many Romanians have never met a black for example. Racism is not good, but sometimes it's understandable.
I have the impression you use eastern Europeans as a scape goat "look at 'em, they are more racist than us, we are cool then".
