We own a 2015 Jayco jay flight 33ft and cant be more happier. Very solid trailer, floor still solid. Our very first issue came after 8 years of service in 2023 when the propane tank regulator gave out. And now in 2024, the ac is starting to give us issues, but we are full time rv’s, the ac is basically on 24/7 for the last 9 years, so even if we have to buy a ac unit, we are very happy.
I have a 10 year old Coachmen 27 foot bunkhouse with no slide. Bought it a couple of years ago from the 1st owner. Everything still works well. Aluminum framed with Azdel sides. The only issue is one soft spot on the roof which will be easily repaired. Every time I get the itch to get something newer I watch these kind of videos to dissuade me from getting rid of an older but fairly well built trailer to a newer migraine headache (regardless of brand). Thanks for waking me up again.
@@slalomkingall depends how you do it tent camping. We use a cabin pop up tent, portable bathroom with shower / toilet and use a buddy heater and 12v portable ac unit, 12v refer , Jacky power station and queen airbed that all packs in back of truck. NOW I agree in extreme cold it's harder to keep warm but tent camping can have all or similar e piece to rv. But that all being said I would love to try rv camping.
I found an older couple on FB marketplace looking to sell their 2019 grand design. They used it once. All paperwork from the dealer they gave us including purchase price and loan agreement. They paid 38k. They wanted 19k I offered 14 and they took it. He threw in everything including the weight distribution hitch. It's beautiful with no issues except replacing dry rotted tires ($700)! We love it!!!
@@jamesavakian4977look up Grand Design complaints on line before you pull the trigger. Since 2021 there have been lots of issues especially with broken frames.
We looked at a Jayco at a big RV dealer in northern CA. We commented on the trim that was falling off and the sales guy said "first thing you need to do after buying a Jayco is to go to Harbor Freight and buy an industrial staple gun. We sure love our new Arctic Fox 25Y...... :)
This is a very common mistake when buying new or used. The unit should be fully inspected and tested (plugged into shore power, fresh water in water tank, inspected top to bottom and end to end, either by you or you can hire an RV inspector. Another common mistake - Every single thing that is not right has to corrected by the dealer and the correction must be confirmed by you before you sign anything. Same for buying private. Never agree to bring it back later-you'll be out of a camper for possibly months while you continue to make payments and the dealer and manufacture waste time pointing fingers at each other or there is a problem with availability of parts. It must be correct before you buy it. People also do not spend nearly enough time doing a deep dive research after they have narrowed down their list to the best options by checking for online owner reviews, joining RV and brand/model specific FB groups and learning about common. brand/model specific problems as part of their research process. I believe wholeheartedly that manufacturers and dealers know that the majority of buyers operate this way, and they exploit it.
I work outside in Texas. Half of my time is spent outside repairing things. I've been following you guys for a couple of years and my wife and I love to travel. One thing I've learned from your videos is that the idea of buying a camper is not im my plans anymore. Give me a margarita at an all-inclusive resort! Not spending half my time doing the same kind of troubleshooting and repairs I have to do at work.
Its the dealer. We bought a new Jayco 5th wheel September 2022. Had our refrigerator fail. Our dealer submitted a claim-and within a couple of weeks, a new one was installed. Jayco approved the claim instantly. Our roof failed. Major issue. Our dealer immediately submitted a claim and within days, Jayco approved a new one. We took it in and the new one was installed in 3 weeks. Big or small problem, Couch Family RV has responded promptly and handled our issues. I am not related to them but i am so happy we drive past our local dealer and additional 350 miles to purchase from Couch. Pick your dealer carefully. It matters. Btw, this is our 6th RV purchase in 38 years
I find it a little disturbing that your roof failed. I understand the fridge, I guess. kudos to your dealer and Jayco for owning up to it and a timely fix, but the quality control on anything that's RV, be it boat or trailer is for the most part, ridiculous.
Yes I know! A bought a 32ft 2023 J flight and have had multiple small issues but they’ve all been fixed under warranty!! the biggest were all the outside compartment doors had to be replaced!! And that took 2 weeks!! Also some minor trim issues but! have had it for over a year and a half!! Wish me continued luck!🤞🏽❤
Have had a jayco eagle fifth wheel since 2018. Live in it 6 months out the year for working out of town. Never had a problem with it. Have owned numerous campers through the years and cannot say the same for them.
Sounds like the place we bought our RV from they really don't care after they sell it to you. I have really had no major issues with the trailer but every time I have been back to ask questions about add on parts I get the same response they don't care. I did need to reinstall the power panel on our trip due to roads being a little bumpy(road construction everywhere) I did need a gas hose once and they had no clue about what I really needed and had to show them the correct one I was looking for as they didn't understand at all. From now on I will just take care of it myself and I would guess thats what they want.
My wife and I go through the same thing every week. We are nice people like yourselves but sometimes we are saddened by the way things are these days So we thank God for what we have And I’m so happy you all got new bikes 👍
The workmanship and pride in their product really went downhill since Covid I would guess. We bought a new 2019 Eagle RSOK and the only thing that went wrong as of now was the front cap paint peeling off. Our dealer in Moncton N.B. had the repairs done at a local paint shop and they did a great job with the new strippings and all. When I contacted the H.Q. about installing a satellite receiver on the unit as it was not wired for it they even paid for that at a price of 1700.00$ I wish you guys all the best.
I must have been really lucky. I bought a new 2021 Jayco Jayflight 28BHS 3 years ago and haven’t had any issues. Sorry to hear about all of your issues.
I don’t have a Jayco but issues like yours are across every brand now unfortunately. I’ve fixed a handful of issues on our new Salem from just adding screws to slide issues. I don’t have much faith in RV service departments so for now if I can fix it myself I will even if it costs a little out of my pocket . It also means it’s fixed right! Thanks for sharing.
So, currently deployed but when I get back I plan to buy a 20-22 ft travel trailer and I do have my eyes on some Jayco models. But this video really helped. Thank you
I bought a 22 ft 2021 Avenger RV 21RBS made by Forest river for just the wife and i Its Still working well and we just love it but , I I had it to do allover i should have gotten a 26 to 30 footer for more space and 30 ft is the longest they will allow in National Parks that have, the, winding roads and steep hills. I have got the F250 gas 6.2 boss engine , 6 speed to pull it . The truck can handle a large 5th wheel if I wanted. It should be great for the mountians with my RV .
Bought a 2010 Jayco Jay Flight 22FB in 2017. Loved it, never had any problems until May '24 when it was stolen from our storage place by drug gang. Found 3 weeks later trashed so badly that insurance totalled it. No more campers. Sailed large sailboats for 30 years, but at age 79 gave that up too. Now working wife's small family farm in VA & loving it! Jayco no longer family owned, so not as good.
In my mind I wanted to say "they should have known" but hey, I really dig the interaction between Mike and Angie, and the way they laugh at just about everything that happens. Me, not so much. You guys really do entertain and have convinced me to 1. not to ever buy an RV, Never purchase a home that needs a ton of work, never purchase any chrysler dodge product no matter what. But on the sunny side, the boat seems to be a success and so does the new dog.
A friend of mine asked me what was the best camper to buy, I told him there was no such thing, just buy the one you like and hope it stays together until you get it paid for. love the sound of that hemi.
I’m sure there are places you can only visit with an RV but my wife and I have decided we would rather let the hotels worry about the heating, cooling, and black water - we just want to travel. Thanks for a great video!
You folks are SO VERY RIGHT...... I had a jayco 28' travel trailer..... cost a TON of money.... MY family was worth it... So I bought it... Kids GREW up.....SOLD it.... NOW it's resorts!!!!! OR tent camping.... (there's ALOT of nice tents out there) Back 2 REAL camping....... GOOD LUCK!!!!
God bless you for your patience. All hell would have broke loose if I was in your shoes. I actually had my sales person add to my contract before I received delivery of at the time a new 2019 Thor Windsport that in the event of any service issues within the first 45 days that my coach would be repaired immediately! I threatened to go to a competitor dealer if they did not agree to that. Guess what they did and guess what?? Shocker I had issues within 2 weeks of taking delivery . Nothing crazy but nevertheless issues. I had them contractually obligated and they got us in and out quickly.
Everything you guys experienced, we experienced, and all with the same questions. I fully expected a nightmare experience when I bought my rig, luckily I'm a mechanic by trade, and everything was a breeze to fix (but it shouldn't be that way). The plus side is, RV dealer's and manufacturers don't discriminate, whether you buy a $500k rig or a $14k rig, they treat everyone like shit after the sale. By the way, Thor Industries owns Jayco, Entegra, Tiffen along with a whole host of other manufacturers, so it's great the Tiffen division hooked you up in the past.
Our Lance camper has a Norcold fridge and its the best rv fridge i ever used. It freezes stuff rock hard and the fridge is perfect temp too. I had several brand new rv but this is the first Norcold. Its a winner.
@irritatedtraveler ours is 3 way and it does work best on propane. Bit it is the best rv fridge we ever had. I had a couple brand new Dometics too . What's weird too is it cools best going down the road. It's not level front to back either but it don't matter.
You guys have such a great attitude. Necessary when you purchase a RV these days. Either fix it yourself or face nothing but hassles. Average RV has a 50% useful time, rest is down time in bogus repair shops.
Really sorry to see this happened to you both. I’ve watched yours and other videos to hear about the service experience by the dealers and manufacturers. Take some comfort that your pain is helping others like me know what to ask and look out for before buying. Best of luck to you both.
Mike & Angie the challenges you constantly face & still smile & laugh speaks volumes about the strength of your relationship! To be treated like a valued person let alone costumer after spending $$ is NOT to much to ask! Stay the course these bugs Will get worked out! All The Best. Be Well Be Safe & Stay Blessed.
I love my 2012 Jayco Swift! Which I bought in 2018. It’s been all over the country, many miles. From California to Tennessee. Yes, I’ve had a few minor repairs. The biggest repair is the refrigerator which I’m having replaced now. I have found great shops in Oklahoma and Texas. No regrets. If I were to buy another travel trailer, it would be a Jayco, the camper is solid, there isn’t anything coming apart in the interior or exterior.
I feel your pain. Brought our mallard home 20 miles, the slide came lose and started to exit the wall while on the hwy, the loveseat came lose and flipped over, I notice the battery cables entering out lippert frame had no grommet, the wheel smelled funny so I pulled one off, all 4 wheels had no bearing grease from lippert or heartland, 2 shower door wheels broke. Took it back and our dealer changed owners in 2 days. It's now a jayco dealer which is owned by camping world. They had it for 4 months and only fixed the slide. I picked it up and did all the repairs in one day. The company that makes the shower door rollers was suppose to send me 2 rollers, I know have 2 cases. 48 rollers. Oh one side note, heartland said if I ever travel with any water in any tank it will void our warranty, they are only held in by 2 straps. happy travels.
Thanks for sharing; sorry to hear about all of this. We are looking at an Oliver with the hopes that a smaller manufacturer might be a better fit for us. Fingers crossed
We must be very lucky! We have an awesome dealership! We purchased our 5th wheel from them 3 years ago and they have done a lot of work on our camper out of warranty with no cost to us because they realized they did not install stuff properly! They are great!
When we first purchased our 5th Wheel from them at the Cullman location, the service department had issues. They went through the service department and cleaned house. They have a new Service Manager, Austin, and he is awesome! There were a few small items that I paid for, like one of the blinds! I bought it and they removed the old one and installed the new and did not charge me any labor.
Part of the problem is cutting labor costs. A good friend of mine serviced RVs for a dealer for about 15 years. He was good at his job and took pride in his work. He was the highest paid tech in their shop. He was let go recently for cost cutting measures
Bet they scooped your awning for a swap out on new sale trailer that was damaged. Stole yours to get a sale, and new trailer off the lot and figured they would back fill yours when replacement got shipped and you wouldn't notice. See you at kosh, enjoy the vids. Good laugh when bored at work. Cheers
After the headache you told us about, I’ve come to the conclusion, whatever I’d pay for a 5th & pickup, or a Super C, we can stay at some really nice hotels, or resorts and not have deal with all this. 🤣🤣. Best RV video I’ve seen. Thank you.
My parents bought a Jayco travel trailer at the beginning of 2023. There were some issues that they told the dealer about. We took the trailer back to the dealer at the END of the season (when they were able to fit it in). My mom had a full legal pad page of items that needed replacing or repair. It took about 6 weeks for all the repairs. The dealership showed my parents line by line what was fixed. We took the trailer back to the campground, leveled it, and covered it for the winter. This spring we unwrapped and opened the trailer for my parents. The main slide with the fridge, fireplace and tv didn’t go all the way out. The interior trim piece is a full inch away from the wall. My dad called the dealer and they said it was close enough for the seal to keep the wind and water out. 😳 It is a nice unit, but for that much money, I would have thought the quality would have been better… The dealer kinda sucks for wanting to charge $600 each way to pick up and return the trailer (50 miles each way). They also are shameful for not checking the trailer for defects before selling it to my parents.
Burtons was one of three dealers in Alabama that had the model camper that we wanted. We ended up buying from B&R down in Theodor because I had read some bad reviews about Burtons after sale service.
At least your hubby has the sense to wear a seatbelt! Good luck if you ever get in an accident, that airbag is just gonna smack you in the head with no seatbelt on lol
My wife and I were looking at RV's and after seeing your video and a bunch of others, am I ever glad we decided against it. Sorry for all of the problems you are having. I think all dealers are the same as well.
Wow! I’ve been eyeing a 2021 Jayco White Hawk 28rl , but after watching all of the videos about travel trailer’s nowadays, our rooftop tent will do just fine! It’s a shame. We had a 2004 Prowler for years with no major issues. Guess we should have kept it😂 They just don’t make stuff like they used to:/
Let me say that you have a lot more patients than I do. I have never purchased an RV from a dealer. My last trailer was a 1992 28ft Prowler "top model" that I purchased from a consignment lot in 1994. It had been used maybe 2 or 3 times by an elderly couple. They paid 17k plus. I paid 12k out the door. Great deal. I bought 2 before that and never had the problems you are having. I kept the last one for 7 years and I only sold it because I moved and couldn't take it. I thought about going full time RVing 3 years ago, but with the years of research that I did I concluded that I couldn't afford the minimum 40 grand I would need just to get a good used one. I wouldn't use a large dealer for anything. I saw more crappy built trailers that were "literally" falling apart on the lot. I couldn't understand why they didn't fix them before they showed them. The sales guy said they would go though it and fix anything before delivery. Really, that doesn't nor will it ever work for me. Good luck in your adventure. I believe your going to need it.
I work at an RV dealership, and it is a pain in the ass to work with the manufactures and warranty. We have to jump through sooooooo many hoops to get anything done/approved.
Sounds like the service and warranty department at RV leaders near Irwin pa my sister had all kind of problems with them my sister and family ended up fixing the fresh water tank and water leaks them selves I wish you folks the best of luck with your camper.
lol man I’m sorry for your troubles I had the same issues and just run with a tent and hotel every 2 days. My wife and I both have the Africa twin adventure sports and we do overlanding trips with them. Absolutely awesome machines. We have over 6000 trouble free miles and I’ve ridden mine pretty hard on jeep trails and forest service roads and some single track trails in the mountains and it’s just a beast. Congratulations
I used to have a jayco pop up and a 2005 jayco eagle 291rlts fifth wheel. Never had a single problem with either one. It's a shame to see jayco get absorbed by thor and turn into junk. That dealer never found a problem with your awning... they snagged that to complete a sale or new unit pickup appointment. We switched to a truck camper... Arctic Fox 990 with slide out. Best decision I ever made with rvs. We wanted a nice new one but decided on a very well kept 2007 model. No frame issues, "frame flex", no tires, axles, brakes, Inspections etc... to worry about. Also being an '07 (manufactured in 2006) it has zero lippert components because that was 1 year before they bought Happijac. If all else fails, cut your losses and try a TC! Arctic Fox, Northern Light, Bigfoot... all solid brands not owned by the Big 3.
Sorry for all the grief your having because of the BS from the dealer and part mfg. Have fun in Oshkosh! Planes have been flying over for a couple of days now on there way to the EAA Fly in. I'm about 60 miles from there.
I do commercial refrigeration, and hvac. That’s my skill set. I’ve also been factory certified in the past to work on pretty much every type of refrigerator you can think of regardless of refrigerant type. Except ammonia. I’ve never serviced anything that cools with ammonia. Anyhow I got the same story. Every time I dropped our camper off for service they had the worst techs do the work. Silicone everywhere. Unable to fix the heat. Had the camper for months to repair the slide. It’s funny talking to them about some of this as I actually am a tech by trade. They are completely worthless. One example: Told the dealer I believed the trap under the shower was leaking due to water marks under the trap. Tech called me, and asked how I expected them to test it since it wasn’t hooked up to water at the dealer. Told them to pour water down the trap. They said okay. They also told me it prob was not leaking. Got a phone call back that the trap was leaking. Why do I have to diagnose their problems when it’s warranty work lol.
Sure stuff breaks, but you need to find a service center that actually fixes stuff right! All campers break, but all your complaints are the service that wasn't done correctly, we have a Jayco had it 5 years and it's been the best quality rigg we ever had.
Had a Jayco pop up several years ago. Had it for, oh gosh, 15-20 years. Same thing with the dealer and their service dept. It was pure crap. Bought it new. Had to take to shop after first trip out. "A few screws ought to fix it". Next trip right back in. Third trip they sent it back to Jayco. They argued back and forth for a month, blaming each other for the problems, then gave back unfixed. Learned then, never buy a Jayco nor buy from that dealer, which by the way is now out of business, as well how to fix most problems with it. We did good with it, traded it in on a Starcraft travel trailer, happy as a lark with it, and the old pop up sold the next weekend.
The camco twist on gate valve works good $30 in a pinch. You can combine both gray tanks together. Also good workaround for your gray tank valve leaking Luckily, I have not had any trouble with my never chill . Thanks for theupdates
👍 I have a 2024 29RL with the same fridge you had/have now I’m constantly irritated if it’s going to work or not lol No problems yet I have used that twist on valve when my sewer hook up was 30 feet away at one site ie shower was full , closed twist on valve open both grays (60 gall gray)@@irritatedtraveler
Great video, love how you keep cool in adversity. Not sure how I would have handled the number of ways the dealership just evidently did not seem to care in the least about anything in terms of your customer service experience. I’m sure you will get past these issues in spite of their complete lack of care.
There’s a lot to be said for buying a slightly used well cared for unit. You guys will get this perfect and sell it in a couple three years and the buyer will be happy.
We don’t want you to feel left out. We had the same problem with our RV, travel trailer and more are owning head holes in it. The dealership changed the awning twice because they did it the first time and replaced it with one with holes our furnace our furnace has quit, multiple times I gave up taking it to the dealership and just repaired it myself. Our stove had scratch marks on it and the dealership said we did it a day after we got it. Our slides quit working dealership couldn’t fix it so I repaired it I would advise anybody, if it’s built by Thor industries stay away run away as fast as you possibly can!
I purchased a Jayco travel trailer and the front diamond plate came off while we were traveling through Idaho. The unit was barely 2 years old and Jayco's response was we choose not to participate in this warranty claim. I had it fixed with my insurance however you bet I sold it as soon as i could and never again another Jayco.
you were hurrying to take it and they dont drop everything for you .Classic case of wanting it finished yesterday .i wouldnt leave it there if cant get a date to fix .
You guys can't really be surprised at the condition of the Jayco and the level of customer service from the dealer and the manufacturer considering your past experiences. Fix these issues and know that you'll have the best example of this model for your travels. Like you said, you can fix and maintain this trailer yourselves. Bite the bullet and enjoy your travels. Hope to see you at Oshkosh.
The original fridge in my 1994 Holiday Rambler (RV) still works great. Everything else works great too. What happened to made in America? I did have a problem where the A/C wall mounted controls are not made anymore. Not even a replacement part from China. Had to buy a similar control and remove needed parts with a soldering kit. Was dissappointed that no part at all was available. But it is 30 years old, so I guess that goes with the antique status.
We love our 2021 Jayco 267bhs Rocky Mountain edition, Jayco is the “Toyota” of rvs as far as I’m concerned. You gotta be able to fix things yourself or a rv is NOT for you!
I can't believe they left the fridge loose inside...shoddy workmanship all around.I would not be proud of those repairs.I hope they make it all right for you guys !!!
Totally agree, they are all trailer trash now. These warranties are useless if you want to actually be camping in your camper. If you are not a motivated handy repair type of person then I highly suggest you buy used and get it inspected by someone reputable first.
Would like hearing more about that Honda Africa Twin. Good thing you have the skills to repair your RV. Feel badly for those who have to rely upon the dealer for all repairs. That deck incident could have really gone badly
Pretty typical RV scenario . I've RV'd for over 40+ years with numerous rigs. Never had the poor service until ~8 years ago with a new Jayco. The trailer was great but a couple of small issues that i wanted fixed under warranty. After 4-5 weeks sitting in the lot and them basically doing nothing I informed them I was coming to pick it up. When I got there I discovered they bent the power tongue jack. I went to the service manager and he admitted that "probably" one of the lot boys did it. They said it would be another couple of weeks to get one in & install. I told them to take one off a new trailer and install it or buy one from the retail counter. Even though dealership owned retail store they had to order one. When the new one arrives put it on the new tt. Basically none of the repairs I requested were done in any form of a workmen's fashion. I ended up undoing all there "repairs" and doing myself. From that day forward & with our new trailer, I do all the repairs myself. Years of complaints by many have done little to nothing over these issues. I have resolved that I better be handy & not rely on service at a dealership. Dealers have become the QC for manufactures.
I've only got to 1//4 of the video, and it looks to be like 95% of the brands on the market, are having all the same issues. One needs to do their own repairs, as going through the dealer (even after their promises at time of purchase about 'being there' for you). We just got back from a 5 week trip yesterday ourselves with our Tiffin motorhome (thankfully had no issues) but a friend who has a 'new' Solitude 29' Grand Design, had the electronics go out on their fridge (this is the second time)! After the first time, with Grand Design sending them a new part, they had a fellow at a Marine location do a quick solder a 'quick fix' to their old fridge electronics board, which they brought along as a 'just in case' and within the first 2 weeks...sure enough, even the newly send part had the same issue as the first! He also had to do some work to the central island in his fifth-wheel, as one end wasn't staying contacted to the floor! Now, this WAS not a low cost RV, it's one of the more expensive, and they still have problems. Another RUclips couple that live in their Grand Design (2019) are having 'numerous' issues, so what I'm saying here, the majority are having RV issues, and the dealers just can't keep up, so if you can't fix it yourself, you may have to adjust your schedule plans for camping out of the blue, because of break-downs unfortunately!
I am so glad I was in Boy Scouts. I got all the camping out of my system as a kid. I hate camping. It's stupid. You guys are crazy for doing it. I'm glad though. I love your channel. You both are incredible. Your house looks amazing and I can't believe how much work you both had to do to get it this way. I went back and watched a few videos from when you first got it and all the stuff you were "discovering". It is crazy the level of transformation that has occurred. I wonder if you can do a "Before and After" video on the house?
You need to give the name of that dealership. We RVers need to know this so we can ban against them. They made their riches during Covid period so now it’s time to put them out of business. Call the better business bureau in your area. That’s pathetic and happens way too often. Thanks for posting.
Wow. Sounds like that dealer is even worse than my experiences with Camping World! I'm still rather new to the trailering thang, but I learned one thing quickly- ALWAYS inspect the camper inside and out after having it in for service, before leaving the dealer.
So here’s how I learned to navigate thru stuff like this.. First advise the parts RV service department to tear down and shoot U over the list of All repair parts necessary to fix the problems.. then U call and order & pay for the parts & the expedited shipping to you. Then take the parts and carry them to the dealership service manger and say here sre the parts thats needed, put them on. I’ll pick it up in a day or so ..; and then after THEY can wade thru the red tape for your claim with Jayco to get U reimburse … The hundred dollars for the parts will save you months of waiting. … Cause U got a nickel waiting on a dollar here, as my old man used to say.
Part of the problem we have had is that the dealer won't fix problems that don't even require parts. We had a wiring short causing the control panel to flash of and on when driving down the road. After 5 attempts, and weeks of time in the shop, it was still never fixed. Loose wires are a huge problem in the industry and tracing them is a nightmare.
You bought a camper that was made before the pandemic. That's not the same thing as the trash they have been churning out during and after covid.
I just would not buy something that was cheap to begin with, or anything built during or since covid.
I now have the thought of buying a camper out of my head. I will be buying a tent.
Car camping with a tent is best
Tent has no shower, AC, leaks in rain, very cold air night, no heater, etc
@@CaboWabotv your exactly right!😁
@@slalomkingall depends how you do it tent camping. Thanks for the vid, like to see the pains of RV. Shows you the things a lot of people would not believe could happen.
We have a 2014 Jayco 28BHBS. Tenth summer not a single issue. Still the nicest and cleanest unit at the storage lott.
"I guess we should have examined it before we picked it up" best comment in the video.
Good grief…you two are exceedingly tolerant…glad to see you’re able to keep your sanity and humor.
It matters. Btw, this is our 6th RV purchase in 38 years
6-7 weeks of repair!!
I find it a little disturbing that your roof failed. I understand the fridge, I guess. kudos to your dealer and Jayco for owning up to it and a timely fix, but the quality control on anything that's RV, be it boat or trailer is for the most part, ridiculous.
The rv industry sucks the dealer blame the manufacturer the manufacturer blames the dealer had a similar problem with my keystone product
A roof leaks !! Off that would go. They should have paid for a all expenses paid vacation. Bunch of crap.
Yup, I'm over it before I ever started down that road Thanks Guys!
Most rv’s need constant attention. Our current one is a 2024 Jayco 225mls that we bought in July. So far it has been great, and we absolutely love it.
I owned jayco fifth wheel never had problems with it.loved my fifth wheel was great i lived in it for months me and grandchildrens did.❤
My wife and I go through the same thing every week. We are nice people like yourselves
but sometimes we are saddened by the way things are these days
So we thank God for what we have
And I’m so happy you all got new bikes 👍
I go to a private repair shop and have never been disappointed. 😎
These two/ three deserve each other
The workmanship and pride in their product really went downhill since Covid I would guess.
Bought new 2022 Jayco 25 ft Feather light and have had very good service from camper.Very satisfied
I must have been really lucky. I bought a new 2021 Jayco Jayflight 28BHS 3 years ago and haven’t had any issues. Sorry to hear about all of your issues.
Same here, no issues with mine.
You just jinxed yourself!
We bought a new 2020 Jayco 224bh. Zero problems, we love it!
Your one of the very few
My last three trucks I had were dodge ram trucks and had no major issues with any, just routine maintenance.
A friend of mine asked me what was the best camper to buy, I told him there was no such thing, just buy the one you like and hope it stays together until you get it paid for. love the sound of that hemi.
did 17 years with a pop up. raised 8 kids with it. wore it slap out. but not once did it need to go back to a dealer. so that's a great way to start.
you guys are great love watching you both and you both have lots of good information.
Your life helps me feel a little better about mine. Gotta keep on smiling.
Our Lance camper has a Norcold fridge and its the best rv fridge i ever used. It freezes stuff rock hard and the fridge is perfect temp too. I had several brand new rv but this is the first Norcold. Its a winner.
Is that a 12v or the propane/electric version? We had the propane/electric Norcold and it was terrible.
@irritatedtraveler ours is 3 way and it does work best on propane. Bit it is the best rv fridge we ever had. I had a couple brand new Dometics too
. What's weird too is it cools best going down the road. It's not level front to back either but it don't matter.
You had me at Lance, they are the top of my list for best build, followed by Northwood and Outdoors RV.
You guys have such a great attitude. Necessary when you purchase a RV these days. Either fix it yourself or face nothing but hassles. Average RV has a 50% useful time, rest is down time in bogus repair shops.
The Jayco travel trailer can have its own repair channel.
I have a 2016 Jayco and love it, also have two friends with Jayco's, no big problems.
We must be very lucky! We have an awesome dealership! We purchased our 5th wheel from them 3 years ago and they have done a lot of work on our camper out of warranty with no cost to us because they realized they did not install stuff properly! They are great!
Please tell us the name of the dealership!
Johnston RV in Cullman and Decatur Alabama.
I wish we could sit around a campfire some day.I have a towable Winnebago and it's never ending after 9 years.
2021 jayco 31 mls. Love it and no issues at all. Thankfully.
You're overdue for trouble!
Cheers
LOL! I don't doubt that one bit!
I have a 2021 Jayco Travel trailer and have had zero issues. This was my second Jayco and didn't have any issues with that one either.
You should have purchased The OLIVER travel trailer. I wish you lots of luck as You will Need it!!!
I LOVE my molded fiberglass Casita. Small but well built
😳
It is a nice unit, but for that much money, I would have thought the quality would have been better…
The dealer kinda sucks for wanting to charge $600 each way to pick up and return the trailer (50 miles each way). They also are shameful for not checking the trailer for defects before selling it to my parents.
Burtons was one of three dealers in Alabama that had the model camper that we wanted. We ended up buying from B&R down in Theodor because I had read some bad reviews about Burtons after sale service.
Seems like every dealer is bad!
i bought my Jayco from them on 2016 makes me thank twice about buying another one from them thank goodness i didn't have a lot trouble with my Jayco
At least your hubby has the sense to wear a seatbelt! Good luck if you ever get in an accident, that airbag is just gonna smack you in the head with no seatbelt on lol
I am wearing a lap belt. I can't wear the shoulder portion because of a previous injury from . . . . a shoulder belt!
You have more patience than me. I would take it back and demand to see the owner!
My wife and I were looking at RV's and after seeing your video and a bunch of others, am I ever glad we decided against it. Sorry for all of the problems you are having. I think all dealers are the same as well.
Yes, wow! Oh, by the way, the refrigerator is unmounted... Amazingly bad. I'm glad you found out what happened to the awning mount.
Jayco’s issues began the day that Thor bought them out in 2016.
They were a reputable company imo, then Thor’s destructive hammer hit them hard!!
I love how you handle each interesting turn that is happening! Take care
Am sorry about your experience. I've had great luck with my local jayco dealer
Maybe they took your slide awning off to fix someone else's rv.
It’s why I’m looking at buying used and remodeling the class c OR purchase a ATC or Intech aluminum travel trailer
Maybe they needed the topper/slide awning for another repair?
Also good workaround for your gray tank valve leaking
Luckily, I have not had any trouble with my never chill .
Thanks for theupdates
That was going to be our last resort!
👍 I have a 2024 29RL with the same fridge you had/have now I’m constantly irritated if it’s going to work or not lol
No problems yet
I have used that twist on valve when my sewer hook up was 30 feet away at one site ie shower was full , closed twist on valve open both grays (60 gall gray)@@irritatedtraveler
Just put one on mine, combining the gray tanks is a big help in extending the time between draining...
Oh no! This is the exact model we've been looking at. Not now! We'll be looking at Alliance, I think.
Great video, love how you keep cool in adversity. Not sure how I would have handled the number of ways the dealership just evidently did not seem to care in the least about anything in terms of your customer service experience. I’m sure you will get past these issues in spite of their complete lack of care.
You guys always make me feel better.
Another fun video… we all enjoy your adventures!
Angie always has a great smile.
I would report that dealer to the BBB.
My dude and or the Lady making bank, good job!
you were hurrying to take it and they dont drop everything for you .Classic case of wanting it finished yesterday .i wouldnt leave it there if cant get a date to fix .
True! You are likely going to have problems with every RV, no matter how much you pay for it.
Best day of ownership of a RV is the day you sell it!!!!!
Would like hearing more about that Honda Africa Twin. Good thing you have the skills to repair your RV. Feel badly for those who have to rely upon the dealer for all repairs. That deck incident could have really gone badly
great video and info. people need to know that most rv dealers are crap. the only rv dealer i had no issues with is woodland airstream.
How could you leave the repair shop without checking the repairs before you leave? Should have learned that by now. Most patient man I’ve seen.
There were no repairs!
You need to give the name of that dealership. We RVers need to know this so we can ban against them. They made their riches during Covid period so now it’s time to put them out of business. Call the better business bureau in your area. That’s pathetic and happens way too often. Thanks for posting.
Check the 11:29 mark of the video for dealers name, they are in Alabama.
