Hope you are all well! This vlog is from earlier in the week as after my nightshirts I've been having some much needed downtime. Nightshirts??!! That’s made me chuckle 😀 Thank you for another open and honest insight into Coronavirus life through the eyes of a Doctor. The future looks bleak, but we have to believe in a better tomorrow.
You will have to do some exercises to strengthen your fingers in the future once it has healed. Plus maybe eat healthier. I recommend looking in to Dr. Gregers Daily Dozen. That is the healthiest diet I know, he uses studies to support all diet claims he makes.
I don't think it's a good idea to get second hand information from a newspaper trying to get clicks, they will overly sensationalise headlines. The country is not the world, and really it's better to go read the WHOs page directly and see what they say directly when it comes to important information related to Covid-19 cases.

8:40 I volunteered my blood as tribute for these numbers! 😂 My local clinic in Colorado, US, started offering the antibody tests last Monday, based on the Mayo Clinic's IgG, IgM, and IgA Covid-19 antibody testing protocols. I had my blood draw yesterday for it, based on a mild respiratory illness I had mid-March. We weren't able to do a Covid-19 test then, because we just didn't have them. From what I understand, even if I do have the antibodies, well, it doesn't change anything personally. Like you said, we need the dang data. We don't know yet how many antibodies you need to be immune, or if I am immune, for how long. We also don't have the data to _truly_ know yet how long people are contagious for. So all social distancing practices still have to be observed. No prancing down the street maskless, hugging everyone I meet. 😂 But, I figure I can be a part of that data we need to learn all this, whether I had it or not. I hope as the months go on, more people can get accurate tests (big hurdle too), so we can gather the info we need. Best of luck Dr. Hope. We're all in this together.
My doctor had a small staff outbreak at his facility. 14/15 of the staff who tested positive remained asymptomatic. So only one ever developed symptoms. Did not feel lucky to get sick with mild to moderate symptoms but also grateful and extremely lucky to have survived. Stay well.
When all this is over I really wanna go to the forest and the beach with my service dog. She was born and raised to work and being locked up in an apartment to protect my health is not fair to both of us.
So good to see you back on the job. I shared your charity post on my Facebook, and some people were happy to help out. Such a blessing to see your smiling face. I hope and pray this finds you and your staff doing well on this fine sunny day. Great work, as always. There are too many doctors trying to exploit this situation by giving out bad information, but you've always been someone everyone can trust. Much love from OK!
Beautiful so lovely to see you and Sonia giving the Lego out 🌟 Nhs saved my 81 year old neighbour live yesterday burst aorta big opp And in a crises they was there for her fast afficient saved her live thank you nhs. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
SONYA GOT LEGO! I'm so happy. I forbid you to go home after this, you have to live with your boss forever and film her make lego models of every organ and disease!
The quarantine itself doesn't worry me much. There's been very little change to my life aside of being on vacation and difficulty grocery shopping. The lack of working part though, worries me. My savings weren't that much to begin with and the well will run dry soon. Even if social distancing enforcemenet must go on for years, wich I'm personally fine with, I sure hope we soon find a way to resume economical operations, else a lot of people are going to end up broke, homeless and starving.
@Hannah Dyson and even if some relief measures do end up happening, I'd bet on they'll be restricted to citizens. I'm an immigrant. it's been less than a month since I made a year after getting permanent residence, but can't quite get hte citizneship paperwork processed right now(plus it's prohibitively expensive, because of course it is), so I'll be screwed eitherway.
Yay LEGO!! Another reason to support them! Long after my kids grew up, I continued to buy them for myself. When you are a mom of sons only, it makes up for not getting to create dollhouses with daughters. We kept all their sets with instructions and some boxes even.
The Lego thing is so sweet! Here in Italy lockdown will end in three days and to be honest I'm pretty scared of what will happen next. I'm hoping everything will be fine but I'm not sure my country is really ready for starting again. As always, be safe everyone! 🤗❤️
Good luck, I hope it works out for you guys, think it'll be a while yet for us Brits. I hope Italy is continuing with social distancing when lockdown ends, our government is going on about scrapping the 2m distance rule, which would be catastrophic.
@@bigboredthing Thank you and good luck for your country as well! The problem here is that several regions have less than 10 cases per day but others still have 700 cases per day and I think it's crazy stopping lockdown for the entire country at the same time, clearly some areas still need to be under lockdown. Also, we still have problems in the organization of the new reality, starting from the lacking of masks and tests for everyone.
@@mamymimma Completely agree. I live in Rome and here the situation is pretty good, but I'm scared that after the end of lockdown covid-19 cases will increase again.
It is very nice to see Dr. Hope again, and that even though he has been working so much, he is fine. Take care Dr. Hope and also Sonia. He is right, there is no light at the end of the tunnel with this virus situation. Life already changed and I think we will not go back to the kind of life each society had before this pandemic. Humans are resilient and the younger the easier for them, people will adapt to what will come in the future. I am middle aged and in a developing country, my admiration to all medical workers around the world, also to the great people working at supermarkets, drugstores, and all those essential workers that make our lives easier on a daily basis and that are taking risks. My sympathy to all of those suffering with Covid and other illnesses, those who struggle financially and all of those who are mentally and physically challenged by this pandemic.
When this is all over I will visit the UK again (my second home for the last 11 years). I miss it and I hope things will somehow go back to normal sometime soon. My plans to visit in June have gone out the window but I hope it will still be sometime this year. Stay strong! And thank you for the down to earth take on it from you on the front lines.
In my state of Australia, they've already started to ease on lockdowns. Social distancing still applies, but you can now meet up with a friend for a while. I'm quite happy to stay in lockdown for a lot longer. As long as it helps save lives, I'm all for it. And in 2 weeks time, they're wanting to send kids back to school - one day a week for each year - in my son's school anyways. I've heard other schools are doing it alphabetically. My son is also happy to stay in lockdown - beats having to get up early and get ready, lol. Also, that cat now owns you, deal with it. Though tbh, my first thought was "don't you have microchipping over there? Can't you take him to a vet to get scanned and find his owner?" But then realised that your country might have different rules on owning pets.
You may know this, but the patent ran out on Lego bricks. So, they had to go all-in on IP for a competitive advantage. I understand missing the generic days though.
@@WilliamPitcher didn't know about the patent. But the fancy kits seem to destroy the creativity of the kids. I haven't met a kid yet who takes the pieces & creates their own whatever, the way Sonia does e.g. I try to show them & they insist that the "directions" must be followed exactly. And once built, just put back in the box. It's sad.
I do get your point but I wouldn’t worry too much. I’m a children’s librarian and one of our most popular programs is just setting out huge bins of regular Lego pieces and just letting the kids go to town free building.
Always good to watch your videos, a voice of reason without an agenda. Finding the 'news' increasingly difficult to watch except as some kind of real time experience of 'we were never at war with Eurasia' - quite surreal.
Honestly I wish your message of “still go to hospital” if ur sick or injured was more publicised. My friends parents were in a car crash the other day and by the sounds of it his dad almost certainly had at least concussion, but didn’t want to go to hospital because of COVID. Really hurts to see.
How lovely you all received lego sets!! don't be so reckless taking socks off anymore. I'm glad to see you in good spirit, btw enjoy your new cat! amazing Sonia is always appreciated!
Only vaccination will get us out of this dire situation, a herd immunity strategy will take years. Ease the lockdown but maintain all other precautions, we've got to learn to live with this rather than think it'll all be over anytime soon.
But it's not time yet, not as long as the critical care wards are operating at max capacity. It's HAS to get more controlled first or else so many more will die needlessly.
In the US each state's governor is deciding when and how to stage reopening their state, because not all states have had the overwhelm expected. A handful of states have not even locked down completely, because they have ranches and farms that feed our county and others.
When all of this is over... I cried. Good luck from Italy, keep going and thank you. Sadly we are here and already thinking of the second wave, but still visiting families because it's a psycological need. It'so damn hard.
What I want to do when this is over: There is a pub that is about 12-13 miles from a common cycling starting place near my house. Friends of mine used to ride from that starting place to that pub once per month. Place was called "Spoke and Wheel". So what I'm wanting to do is organize about 10-20 people to go to a Spoke and Wheel pub ride. Get to do a fun social ride with friends. Visit a pub that is probably struggling now. And enjoy dine in after likely over a year of not doing that by the time this is over.
In camaraderie with Dr Sonia, I am finally building my Harry Potter LEGO set that I bought 18 months ago. And maybe I will rebuild the 15 other sets in the closet. I dropped my Great Hall...it was sad.
I always like your straight-forward and what appears to be very honest opinions and thoughts based, obviously too, on your profession. What a pity the politicians couldn't say even a tenth of what you do.
"Have hugs". That one got me. Thank you for the continued updates. In a world saturated with information and opinions, yours is always helpful and refreshing. And a special thanks to Sonia for being a boss. 😁

Here in Italy we're ready for 2nd stage : from 4th May onwards some restrictions will be just a bit relaxed. It's the step to learn how to coexist with the COVID-19. YES WE MUST ACCEPT IT! However, despite all the general jubilee, I 'm feeling a bit worried about how everyone, myself included, will really realize the importance of having, now more than ever, direct responsability in the future of this "new normal". You' re right :a long way to go but stamina and judgment should be our compass. My wish? Just to BREATH with no mask. There's a light at the end of every tunnel. A Virtual hug, Dr Hope. 🇮🇹🇬🇧
It's the travel restrictions that have been driving me nuts, pre-lockdown I tended to avoid crowds of people whenever I could just because I don't like crowds, but the problem now is that I live in Crediton which is filled with narrow pavements and paths that can make the social distancing a hell of a lot more difficult, especially when other people are being impatient and not waiting for the cars to go past so that I can get out of their way. At least if the travel restrictions were lifted I could drive my car to somewhere a bit more open. The nearby public access golf course is nice and all but after a while it starts to feel as familiar as my own house. I understand why the travel restrictions are in place and I can probably live with them still being in place if I have to, but I miss being able to get out of Crediton.
I'm disappointed that Sonia didn't craft you a splint out of Lego! 🤔 How fantastic that you could spread some happiness courtesy of Lego Denmark! Sonia looked like an excited kid looking through that box. Keep up the amazing work guys. I hope your finger will soon be better. 🌺💚🌺

Yes mister hope. You are onto something. The actual number of infected people are probably much closer to 20-30% and despite the virus being super comtagious, it is actually very weak for most people.
1) You and Sonia rock and if I was a stray cat I would 100% want to be adopted by you. 2) The When this is all over board made me cry. I miss my boyfriend. For various reasons we could not lockdown together. I hope soon we’ll be able to have a handful of people we’re allowed to interact with. Being alone and having no human contact is hard some days even for an introvert like me. 3) I desperately want to build some Lego now 4) You guys are amazing. Thank you for everything you’re doing.
Placing a chain fence around a garden to stop mosquitoes entering, is like the surgical mask with covids. We wear our own n95 under the surgical mask. Great spirit Dr Hope. 💓
On 7 of the lampposts at the hospital near me there are banners wrapped around them with each colour of the rainbow and a laminated heart below it of what people are thankful for. Stay safe everyone 💛
Here's my take: The only way out of full lockdown right now is mass testing which we are starting to achieve. Without getting into the politics of it, we have increased testing capacity of labs about 10-fold in the last 6 weeks to the point where the general public can actually be tested, not just hospital patients. With efficient drive-through services and quick-turnaround time of results, we can diagnose people quickly, isolate them at home until they recover, and consistently keep infection rates at low levels until a vaccine is ready. In this time we will not be back to normal, social distancing will have to continue, restaurants will spread out their tables, cinemas only let a few people in, travel abroad will have to be tightly regulated. We can achieve some level of normality by keeping infection rates low but only when an effective vaccine / anti-viral is available will we completely exit this weird way of life.

But, I figure I can be a part of that data we need to learn all this, whether I had it or not.
Stay well.
Cat is like "yes I tolerate humans". Great work, as always guys!
When all this is over I really wanna go to the forest and the beach with my service dog. She was born and raised to work and being locked up in an apartment to protect my health is not fair to both of us.
It must be really difficult at this time. I hope to get to do this soon. :)
I had a mini Heart Attack when you dropped the Lego Boxes on your glasses.
🙈
Now trending: BabyJesusFinger.
Legos! That’s amazing. Sonya must be so happy to be a channel of these lego blessings!
Your videos are on the top of my list every time there's a new one!
Beautiful so lovely to see you and Sonia giving the Lego out 🌟
Nhs saved my 81 year old neighbour live yesterday burst aorta big opp
And in a crises they was there for her fast afficient saved her live thank you nhs.
That cat seems so friendly, it could be just lost. I wouldn't expect a typical stray cat to be that friendly!
Thanks so much for this!! Your posts are grounded, non-sensational, and realistic. I appreciate them very much.
Same, I feel safer now that just few people are around - I live in Alessandria by the way
@@bigboredthing Thank you and good luck for your country as well!
Amazing how the guidelines on masks changes with stock levels rather than science.
This ^^
Heh! I was hoping LEGO would notice you and hook you up!
Good on LEGO & good on you and Sonia! A little something to brighten up the ones at home. Thanks for the updates Dr. Hope! Stay well!
That Lego give out, just put the biggest smile on my face. All the staff looking super happy to get Lego.
Man, I miss the good old times when Lego was just Lego and not -Lego
You may know this, but the patent ran out on Lego bricks. So, they had to go all-in on IP for a competitive advantage. I understand missing the generic days though.
Hooray for Legos!
It's sad.
Joy Fisher look up LEGO masters Australia
I do get your point but I wouldn’t worry too much. I’m a children’s librarian and one of our most popular programs is just setting out huge bins of regular Lego pieces and just letting the kids go to town free building.
Love you Dr. Hope, stay safe during this troubling time!
Always good to watch your videos, a voice of reason without an agenda. Finding the 'news' increasingly difficult to watch except as some kind of real time experience of 'we were never at war with Eurasia' - quite surreal.
This is such a great vid. Real, genuine informed straight-talk. Love your content.
I think you have it backwards!
we have vaccinations for flu and a lot of the time they don't work and/or people don't take them.
But it's not time yet, not as long as the critical care wards are operating at max capacity. It's HAS to get more controlled first or else so many more will die needlessly.
@@OneCatShortOfCrazy are they operating at max capacity? I know in Ireland they arent even at half and we have just extended our lockdown
What I want to do when this is over:
There is a pub that is about 12-13 miles from a common cycling starting place near my house.
Brilliant donation for the Health Care kids stuck at home while Mum/Dad goes to work. Amazing.
Fab vlog as always 😊
Thank you for taking time out to explain and update...and make us smile with Lego 😊 and board messages...and cat😊
It's so nice to see at this really scary time we are living through 👋
Look after yourself, Dr. Hope 👍
Another fab vlog 😄 you are such a calming inspiration in this nightmare! Take care of yourself xx
big love to Sonia dr Hope u are so helpful to us locked in with no clue wats happening also lego and fairy bricks very kind stay safe u two x
Got to say you are both doing an amazing thing, to see those smiles.
AMAZING Vlog, @
Dr Hope's Sick Notes
and I HOPE THAT YOU ARE Safe from the COVID-19; Dr Hope
thanks for a great video, ive just finished night shift and have been told the great news that my local district is now covid 19 free. restrictions are slowly being lifted. i hope you and sonya are taking care of yourselves
love from an Aussie Nurse
I just love this video series, it is so uplifting and informative at the same time
You've uncovered COVID-19's mortal enemy
Legos
I'm just here for Sonia
500K subs coming Doc! You stay safe, stay fresh and rest well!
Seriously cool! Lego is always guaranteed to make people smile... that and chocolate... and wine.
OMG, Kevin was so Awesome to Donate these, BRAVO LEGO, that was Fantastic... ❤👏👏👏
I am looking forward to playing netball again. And having the national Suncrop Super Netball start back. I really am looking forward to watching some of my favourite players again. Many of my favourites are actually from the UK. Helen Housby and Chelsea Pitman, and also the Aussies and players from other nations - Shamira Sterling, Sammy Wallace and Steph Wood.
I have to write a report on covid-19 for my public health class. I am glad that I have been watching your videos. They would be very helpful. Thank you.
Wonderful to have the donations of Lego! Well done previous video raising over £3k. Thank you for these videos and all the info and advice it’s so much appreciated. X
It'd be so nice to see a collab of you with John Campbell, he makes videos about exactly the thing you're talking about: statistics, possible exit strategies etc :)
Dr. Ed, you adopt the cat, please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I worry, worry, worry that you are well since this last post.
Thank you to Dr Hope, Dr Sonia and all at LEGO! :-)
So sweet for Lego to be donated, maybe they watched your Lego skills with the virus making Dr Hope 😻 with bonus kitty x
Yes mister hope. You are onto something. The actual number of infected people are probably much closer to 20-30% and despite the virus being super comtagious, it is actually very weak for most people.
Lego, cats, dr hope and Sonia could this vlog be any better? Amazing work as always you guys!
I'm so excited that Sonia is a fellow Slytherin 😁💪🏽🐍
Best vlog series on RUclips right now ❤️
1) You and Sonia rock and if I was a stray cat I would 100% want to be adopted by you.
2) The When this is all over board made me cry. I miss my boyfriend. For various reasons we could not lockdown together. I hope soon we’ll be able to have a handful of people we’re allowed to interact with. Being alone and having no human contact is hard some days even for an introvert like me.
3) I desperately want to build some Lego now
4) You guys are amazing.
Thankyou to you and your team. You are all AMAZING 😎
