People don't seem to understand this; Notch, and famous indie devs in general, are just people. They aren't gods. They aren't idols. They're regular schmucks like you and me, the only difference is that they made a game that happened to be popular.

Exactly! It frustrates me to no end how people say things like "Mojang is lazy," as if they aren't real life people who have lives and can't just crank out Minecraft updates 24/7. They have to take care of their mental health just like everyone else.

The amount of stupidity in that statement is terrible. It’s like they think modders are these gods that does what Mojang can’t.
Also, people falsely he's a reactionary too, which he's not, he's shown in the past that he's willing to change his views once he realizes what he's ignorant about, reactionaries don't do things like that.
I think Notch made the right call... You can see how much hate and crap Mojang has to deal with whenever they make Minecraft updates, its hard to keep everyone satisfied, and unfortunately there's a lot of jerks who take it out on the Minecraft developers. If Notch was still in charge all that hate would be unfairly directed at him.

To me the tweet "It's ok to be white" is good and shouldn't be controversial. You shouldn't be unjustly criticized for something you literally was born with and can't control because of something someone in your race box did. It's comforting like a "you are valid for thinking that" kind of comfort. That was rare at that time and i appreciate it
that phrase does not exist in a vacuum. It was created as a white supremacist dog whistle (a dog whistle is a phrase which seems innocuous to anyone not "in the" know while having a hidden meaning for those "in the know", like how humans cannot hear dog whistles but dogs can) which is why people found it suspicious when he said that

I really don't like the direction Microsoft is taking the game doesn't even feel like the same game anymore It used to be build And just survive and the world is yours to do what you please with it now It seems to evolve more around adventure

Some of the things he has said may be controversial, but i still have a soft spot for him. He made my childhood. I feel like he doesnt deserve most of the hate. I feel bad for him, and now because of the community at the time, he was pressured into selling the game, which the new owners are doing a sh*t job at managing.
He is just another victim of unwanted fame, and hes one of those people who couldnt handle it

Very professional video. The hate Notch got was mostly due to people listening to what others were saying about him without actually reading his tweets and coming to their own conclusions. Basically animalistic mob mentality.

Minecraft videos about notch that i have watched mostly just focuses on controversy (I didn't completely agree with the videos for some reason as most of the source was Twitter)

With microsoft, minecraft's updates have gotten larger in scale, we now have even higher version parity compsred to before

tbh i agree with you. the community sometimes like to focus on the controversies of minecraft updates but atp i appreciate the games being updated at all. infact 1.21 is looking great so far
@@radicalsHyper If notch had not given us the Java version with the possibility to mod it, Microsoft had the game on locked down with micro-transactions and paid updates. :D
well i like older minecraft more, but the new versions arent really bad.. just not my thing. i watched a video that explained that the workers are mojang arent really allowed to do all they want because microsoft want to do all in the safest way possible and avoid any risks.. so they end up adding really few stuff, and thats why april fools updates are always huge.
if notch didnt have this mindset it would be better with him, but he really rather not doing the game it seems.
theres a mod for beta minecraft called reindev, for me that mod is EXACTLY what minecraft was supposed to be but didnt become.. they are improving the mod over time and always adding tons of features (theres even a version that will soon be released)
@@minementalx notch did not "give us java edition with the possibility to mod it". Modding tools and APIs are community made. If bedrock was the only version of minecraft, then bedrock would have similar modder support. "Paid game updates" are also completely unprecedented, I don't think the existence of java eidtion is what prevents them from existing
@@mega_gamer93 What I meant is: Because of the way notch shipped Minecraft, it was possible for the community to fiddle with it. He did not stop or hinder the ability to mod Minecraft. I think at some point an API was promised. :D
Bedrock has mod support because it was a big selling point for Java.
So yeah Microsoft would have gone harder on microtransaction if there was not Java with its free options. Just look at the gaming industry.

This vid was so well made Markus persson was such an smart programmer guy and he is such an great guy for making minecraft and being so populalar but his opinios about the web and his parties is the thing that made him deppressed and went into his downfall.

I feel like when all the progressive posts are many years old, and all the anti trans/antisemitic ones are more recent, its most likely he changed his beliefs during that period rather than that he was playing 4D chess and trying to sever ties to microsoft. Maybe apply Occam's Razor?
A lot of people get into extremism when they're feeling listless and need a purpose. Notch was miserably lonely and directionless after becoming rich and leaving minecraft- Not to start speculating here, but it's perfectly reasonable that he could have just fallen down a political rabbit hole during those long, depressive RUclips watching/social media sessions. That stuff fucks up a dude's head.
..Certainly a lot more likely than him destroying his public image so that people wouldn't bother him about Minecraft.

This isn't any old throwaway responsibility. Being responsible for the most successful game ever sold is no small task. Dream, a Minecraft youtuber, was swatted multiple times a year due to his fame.
