Just thought I'd correct one point - I created and ran the Minecraft ModDB page with permission from Notch, and I personally asked, if Minecraft won the ModDB "Indie of the Year" awards, would he add cake? He said yes, and I co-ordinated the Quest for Cake campaign on ModDB. Naturally, it did win, and cake got added.
Thought I'd just elaborate on that a bit. Great video! Very interesting, I feel so old knowing nearly all of these :P

There's a parallel to this in Lego, Lego can't copyright their Lego bricks anymore, their functionality of clipping to other bricks is a natural phenomenon, only their Lego Figurine stays copyrighted.
So long as the game does not copy anything that can't be coded in any other way, or only very few way exist, so long do these parts of code not violate copyright.

I don't think so because after the dead of his father he wasn't the same inside and because he doesn't want to get responsible of something bigger like minecraft, that's why Minecraft isn't destinied to the sucess and it almost killed the game.
Funfact: The *actual* reason behind MSA being added is due to integral security flaws with Mojang/Minecraft accounts. They weren't able to update the backend to implement 2FA without breaking a lot of the backend.
It doesn't matter if they break the old backend, they could completely rewrite it. They didn't need to require MSA (a different and incompatible backend). Security flaws are just an excuse.
2FA has locked out more legitimate users than saved accounts from being compromised.

Kid, let me explain why the creeper came to be.
The creeper was initially just a bugged pig model that notch was creating, but notch liked the model enough to make a dedicated texture for it. Add in som pretty annoying features and boom, the Creeper.
The creeper’s existence was accidental but it was lucky enough to get in the game.

The name came from an IRC channel where Notch asked for name ideas and Minecraft: Order of the stone was picked before being shortened to Minecraft (was almost cavecraft)

Wow I actually didn't know the first version of Minecraft I played was Noahs work. I remember this was my first experience playing Minecraft and honestly I was terrified of the night. I was eager to play after watching the Yogscast start their Shadow of Israphael series. I ended up hollowing a mountain out for my first home when I spawned and figured how to punch wood. I had a spider just stuck outside of my door so I was too scared to leave. I just know I wanted to make a painting for my new house. I ended up gaining the courage to fight the spider outside whom had reinforcements. I gained enough string to make that one piece of wool and I made my creeper painting and put it on the wall. Eventually the website was shut down and I was devastated. I begged my grandpa to buy Minecraft for me. After doing every chore he told me to do; he got it for me and I was absolutely addicted since.

I had no idea how frustrating bugs were until I got into colelge and started doing cs. My last assignment, I spent hours just finding the bugs and I just couldnt quite pinpoint what went wrong.

Microsoft wanting user data is why they added telemetry in 1.18 which (intentionally) could not be disabled and collected EVEN MORE data than the old Snooper. Telemetry is also user-identifiable and collects your XUID in plain text!
