I don’t get it, why is this video so biased showing Iran as an enemy? When US is cruising around the middle east selling weapons and establishing its own military bases. Do you expect other countries would sit there and wait?
The creation of this video and the inclusion of an expert to simplify the drone's capabilities indicate a stroke of engineering brilliance. It's effective, affordable, simple to mass-produce, and scalable, reminiscent of Japanese automotive engineering from several decades ago.
You spend so much on a drone while not even having an official war and can't fix the street thousands of people use daily. Isn't it funny how money is distributed? So much arsenal just to "impress" the bad guys that never even dared to attack you in the first place

The dude forgot to mention that if you're going to build anti-drone technologies then the opposing side is also going to make their drones better and faster. If these drones are not invulnerable, as the dude had to say it multiple times, then why did Ukraine blow up its manufacturing facility in Russia? No matter how much you try to deny it, the Persians have outsmarted your entire NATO arsenal and industrial complex despite sanctions. The fact is that they are lethal and taking a huge toll on NATO equipment provided to Ukraine. USA/NATO had all the knowledge about Russian weaponry before the war and had built every type of weapon to counter them, but since the entry of this equipment, every other Western news channel is talking about them. This so much publicity itself tells us that they are very difficult to intercept and deadly.

I mean, American military is completely sloshed with money, there's several trillions of assets they can't account for. Like, imagine Apple and Microsoft getting lost between the couch pillows...
We hear a lot about how the US military is so much more powerful than other militaries because the US spends so much money. But, a lot of that money is wasted on overly complicated, delicate and extremely expensive weapons. Many other countries are able to stretch their military budgets to go a lot farther and thus be more effective per dollar spent. Just throwing endless money at bureaucracies does not always produce better results.
As an American I assure you at least half that money ends up going to generals who will later get a job at those same contractors as advisors. Total racket. Almost as dumb as letting politicians trade stock on their insider information.
Some things I think to explain. - Shahed is not the name of the family of kamikaze drones. Shahed is the named of a Company. What they make has Shahed in its name, including other drones but also other aviation like helicopter. -The reason the sound is for a reason. The sound works to cause panic on the defender similar to German planes in WW2. - Iran has the ability to produce advances products like cheaper drones similar to the ones of the US but for example also advanced missiles, tanks or anti air systems. -The way Russia uses the drones are not how Iran intended to use it. Iran use it as cheap missiles sometimes, but it is more uses used as a part of a bigger attack. The sound and amount of these drones are supposed to panic the defender, in which heavier Iranian drones, artillery and missile systems will attack the weekend enemy. In war there would probably also be an attack. The drone can also be used in skirmishes like most Iranian equipment. -The reason anti drone system are not effective against these system are many. First the drone is meant to cause distraction and explosion, both. If the defence is focused on the drone, a better equipment will be uses simultaneously. They are also uses to waste expensive units. When a expensive missile hits it, Iran does not lose as much as the defender. In reality the missile has not destroyed the drone, the drone destroyed the missile.
Iranian trolls in action. They are not noisy because they cause panic. They get shot down when they are heard. Causing panic is not the goal of an attack drone, it is to attack and destroy. They are noisy because they use piston powered propellers with little to no insulation. Iran DOES NOT have the ability to produce a drone similar to Reaper's capability. If they did, we would be seeing them. Iran military has a budget of over 20 percent of its GDP. If they could build a highly capable drone, they would do it. But they just can't. Try harder.
Well technically, a "cruise missile" has historically been able to be programmed for "waypoints"; i.e. it is capable of changing its flight path either via program or with some level of autonomy. So far, a "drone" cannot do that; it uses satnav to just fly the shortest path to its destination. However, the moment they get that capability, their cost goes up, but at that point it probably becomes a "cruise missile"...."
It’s a drone because it is controlled using a remote, not like missiles that are already guided to their target once it is launched. Missiles are made with high tech complicated parts while drones can just be made with any semiconductor found in washing machines and other appliances.
I expect more from the wall street journal, this is insane. First of all the price of the SHAHED-136, a leak has revealed the price to be 20-50k. Using the highest estimate without explaining the range is misleading. Moreover you are comparing it to the U.S. Reaper Drone? You are comparing two totally different machines. One is a drone missile, the other is a drone aircraft. Two totally different things? The way they're flying, the speed, the costs, the purpose, the way its flown EVERYTHING. And btw, if you are stating 'U.S. Reaper Drone', I supose you mean the 'Reaper' which is the only thing holding that name? As in MQ9 Reaper. Why would you show a picture of the MQ1 Predator then? You have not done your full research... come on guys....
I’m sure it was inevitable that they figured out how to make these but I can’t help but think of the times in the last 20 years where America lost drones in Iran or nearby and they captured it. We shrugged it off, because we can’t look like we’re in a panic over it, but Iran put them on display and shared photos of them with the world. They didn’t need to figure out how to copy us to the key, they just needed to figure out how to make something that can fly.
In fact, America did not lose its drones, but they were hacked and landed by taking control. About copying, you have only heard something and you don't know that this is a common process in all countries. Have you ever thought about how America got the missile technology?
It always poses a threat to the US when other countries possess such simple and cheap weapons. And it doesn't pose a threat to other nations if the US has sophisticated weapons .😂
So it takes a multimillion dollar missile to shoot down a 50k Shahed drone. Once they overwhelm the defense system then they can rain down their real missiles. Huh. We have more to gain to be friends with these people than continue pissing them off. With all due respect to the military industrial complex, Why don’t we leave their neighborhood and attend to ours?
US needs to distract from its own population drowning in inflation. If there were no distractions people would actually ask questions. A war is always a way to get a "common enemy" so no one questions the own politicians incompetence
Iran has the absolute right to defend itself, interest and its allies in the region. Supporting Russia in its war efforts is nothing more than just support for an allies right to their interests. same for the USA supporting genocide in gaza
I think they do have some kind of deal. They wouldn't just openly announce it. Russia has already delivered air defenses to Iran and have promised them su35s. Plus Russia has openly announced they will help Iran militarily if they were attacked. The Iranian nuclear power plant was facilitated by Russia. As far as we know Russia might have sent their scientists to Iran to help them expedite their nuclear weapon.
@@techarch8851 true. Russia wants to give Iran their planes, but they need something in exchange. Nothing that Russia couldn't develop themselves, but it's allowing Russia to give Iran their high tech equipment.
Shahed 136 is just the tip of the ice berg for iranian drones. Much much better drones Iran has such as shahed 149, mohajer 10, fortros, ababil 3, moahjer 6, shahed 191, karrar, kaman, arash 2, omid etc. Shahed 136 is just a deterior to overwhelm air defence systems.
What's the issue? US interfered with and has crippled Iran. Why shouldn't they develop their own arms and sell them? The US seems to have no issue selling arms to irans enemies, and using their own arms against Iran within their borders.
I get the message, but isn't this insanely hypocritical? Just how much death, destruction, and chaos were created by Western weapons and wars by comparison?
This video gives a useful insight into a particular family of kamikaze drones. Interestingly civilian targets were mentioned and then qualified to mean electricity generation sites etc., in which case that seems to make them valid military targets.
I always love the excuse of "poses a threat to the US and it's partners" If you're not at war with them, it's not a threat And btw, a US aircraft carrier + subs in the region is not a threat to them? Oh I forgot, we are the world police xD

I just wanted to bring to your attention that the Shahed drone cost $15k-$20k to manufacture and that they have been selling them to Russia for $170k per unit. That $50k price tag is wrong.
Those are very effective drones. Defense against those is hardly doing the job. Even when shot down, they explode and sometimes in the middle of town, which is probably worse than letting it hit its original destination. In general, drones are a very scary weapon. I can't imagine what a swarm of armed drones driven by AI and visual recognition can do to a target and how safe anyone would feel when something like this exists.
For me when it comes to drones mostly projectiles, I think Iran 🇮🇷 is the world super power 😢 these guys really surpass the west with that drone dominance and the west are really surprised about this , Iran 🇮🇷 drone brought change and balance to the war industry no cap 😢
its easy to say build capacity to knock these drones down but the reality is its far easier to build capacity to manufacture these drones then it is to manufacture the air defense systems that have high probability of destroying these drones.
In the US military everything is made as complex as possible to justify endless profits for the MIC and their bribes to generals and politicians. So what we get from such a system are weapons which are very complex and very very expensive to buy and operate. Then, along comes a place like Iran whose goal is the opposite: to get the most bang for the buck. In other words to build something cheap and effective. This upsets the existing paradigm of a relentlessly march towards endlessly more complex and expensive systems. Why use a 1 million $ anti-ballistic missile to take out a drone that costs $15,000?
Shahed 136 can't dive so accurately with just GPS, there is a decent inertial navigation system onboard for sure, and in fact the Russian version could be cheaper as they don't have the honeycomb material inside. These drones are designed for the "long war" and combined with missiles and other drones they define the modern warfare.

That doesnt make sense. Logically speaking. Russia has entire districts some as big as a small country being dedicate to factories producing military articles.

I said right away that Iran's suicide drones would be a game changer and bound to have a huge impact at the unveiling a couple of years ago during one of their military exercises when they presented their latest weapon. Who knew they would make their debut in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, could never been foreseen.

I don’t get it, why is this video so biased showing Iran as an enemy? When US is cruising around the middle east selling weapons and establishing its own military bases. Do you expect other countries would sit there and wait?
So US can provide weapons to whoever they want whenever they want but dare someone else does the same.
The creation of this video and the inclusion of an expert to simplify the drone's capabilities indicate a stroke of engineering brilliance. It's effective, affordable, simple to mass-produce, and scalable, reminiscent of Japanese automotive engineering from several decades ago.
Figure of USD 50k mentioned seems highly inflated. In many other videos/articles, the cost is mentioned between 5-10k only.

Comparing this to a reaper doesn’t make sense… it is essentially a slow cheap cruise missile.
For the price of one $2 million tomahawk cruise missile, u can get 60 of these drones.
Ukrainians call them "mopeds" and shot them down with small arms from the ground and from helicopters without much issue.
Try harder.
How do you know all of that?

Isn't a one-time kamikaze drone a cruise missile? Is it a drone because it doesn't have a jet engine?
Nah, it's because it's not a missile. There's plenty of drones with jet engines as well.
But the overlap is becoming noticeable.
It seems like this is just marketing terminology and there's no substantial difference
It’s a drone because it is controlled using a remote, not like missiles that are already guided to their target once it is launched.

Except they've been doing that since the 80s way before any US drone was captured by them.
americans drones and rhese drones are extremely different. Iran drones you could build in your garage if you wanted to.
I guess you re talking about RQ-170
In fact, America did not lose its drones, but they were hacked and landed by taking control. About copying, you have only heard something and you don't know that this is a common process in all countries.
Have you ever thought about how America got the missile technology?
The correct term is Reverse Engineering and not copying.
It always poses a threat to the US when other countries possess such simple and cheap weapons. And it doesn't pose a threat to other nations if the US has sophisticated weapons .😂
stopping wars costs nothing.
Wars are way too expensive. What do you expect?

How many drones come in 1 unit
Iran FTW!
iran has the right to defend itself
If you think that's bad you should see the expensive AMERICAN kamikaze cruise missiles wreaking havoc in Gaza.
Iran was so real for this
In the US military everything is made as complex as possible to justify endless profits for the MIC and their bribes to generals and politicians.
Are you upset that they're cheap or that they're effective?
Fascinating! Technology of our time is both mind boggling and frightening
It is not the possession of truth, but the success which attends the seeking after it, that enriches the seeker and brings happiness to him.
