    The absolute best amp I’ve ever played is a Todd Langner modified 1971 Super Lead that belonged to a friend. The tone was so ridiculously good, and the feel was amazing. That was 25 years ago and I still think about it all these years later. I had a chance to buy it a few years ago, but of course wasn’t in a position to do it financially. It will always be the one that got away.

      @@darklinkduck2275 Man ... Jubilee has enough gain (obviously not as much gain as the DCP-1) It really depends on your right hand. It is not forgiving and you need to hit those strings hard (as you should do anyway...) And obviously yes, the Jubilee is not a modern super high gain amp, but you need just a parametric eq or TS just as a clean boost in front (no added distortion) and it sounds brutal. Definetly more brutal than 5150 ...

      Those have a transistor distortion section yes, like the JCM800? Funny how people chase big amps & speakers & all this krap, when literally a pedal can sound better 4 almost no money =)) People should try maybe putting a 'warmup mod' on a Marshall MG10 Gold HAHA Those little 'practice amps' sound great on high gain = better than this rack thing that is surely crazy overpriced. It's only the low gain that sounds a bit nasty, & so does this expensive one! So wat R U paying 4? Just the 'idea' it is 'rare & expensive so must be special' =))

    My buddy Robert was a good friend of Todd Langner. He and Todd were in a band together called Mystic Sorcery in the early, early 1980's and Todd was the singer and my buddy was the guitarist. Robert was in a thrash metal band in the early 2000's and Todd built Robert one of these amps. I visited Robert at the bands studio and got to hear this bad boy first hand and MAN......what a monster that amp is. About 10 year my buddy had a heart attack and ended up selling tons of his guitars (ESP endorsed) and gear to help pay for medical bills.....and yes he sold the Langner amp, which was a huge regret for him because it was his tie to his friend Todd.

    • @Deathrape2001
      @Deathrape2001 2 года назад

      It's not that good. U R just hypnotized by the rarity =)) Seriously the distortio sound reminds me of some of those cheap Chinese 'tube pedals' U can get on Fleabay for about $30, & demos of them around JooToob. It's the typical 'low voltage / starved for power' thing U get when tubes 'hash out' = the chunk kind of farts instead of 'tight'. Also sounds quite 'transistor-like' = my bet is it's basically a cheap cheesy pedal with a tube or so after to warm things up = typical $cam product, like the DOD/Digitech thing he got with 'artist preset ROM chip' that sounds nothing at all like any of those artists = pure criminal fraud. There's so much of that in audio, like wildly ridiculous claims about electrical cable sound quality.
      There R differences yes, but in fact the best sounding cable for speakers I've tried is old 'Amphenol Spectra Strip' SCSI data cable, but a chore 2 terminate, & next behind that is 'aluminum on one side' lamp cord style stuff = U know, like the stuff from Parts Express where 1 lead is gray & the other is copper color = sounds better than any of the fancy 'audiophile' cables I tried (& I worked at high end shops so would test this out).
      There is something about having different metals on different paths = evens things out. Same with guitar cable = thin wee copper core with aluminum shield & no copper on the return path (ground shield) sounds best of any guitar cable I ever tried, but there is a bit of noise when U move it (not much) because of the 'crinkling' LOL & for 'line level leads' the best I ever heard was cheap very thin old Nakamichi tape deck ones. I guess there is something about not having 'extra copper' that helps clear things up & sound more smooth = interesting. Can help tame a 'harsh' DAC =) = reduces spikey high pitched 'sibilance' texture without losing highs = if that makes sense.
      This is kind of 'out there' stuff but true, like people joke about 'clockigng' being a scam but when U hear a good clock & the difference it makes U R 'converted' =) iWon't say my current fave, as they're cheap used & want 2 get more HAHA

      @@Deathrape2001 LOL that's some opinion. Todd langner helped design the Legendary ADA MP-1 preamp and later went to work for Pixar's sound division. So yeah, it's real likely he was designing "scam products".

    • @Deathrape2001
      @Deathrape2001 Год назад

      @@totalbullion5882 You're right = if somebody has a 'fancy job' they can not B a $cammer HAHAHAHA =)) Hell even Window$ OS is a $cam = purposely crippled different ways with every release 2 fuk everything up. When people need 2 do actual work, they still use XP or 7, & that will continue 4ever unless Micro$hit decides 2 make something that's actually useful again =)

    The 1 thing this does that is interesting is the upper mids have a kind of open wildness 2 them = like a flury of broken glass dancing around. Sounds 2 me like what U get with a cheesy harsh 'overdrive' pedal when U put tubes on it after. iThink that's what they're doing. Maybe same thing with the ADA MP1? R the tubes really generating the distortion? 4 an example of how krap they can get, check out Primus bass tones = horribly lame distortion =)) It's like with a krap pedal = give it 2 Pete Thorn & he can make some cheesy tranny thing sound glorious, usually =))

    I've got one. Todd made it for me when we worked at Euphonix together. I think it's the last one he ever made, 5 12AX7 gain stages. I rarely played it. Prob got about an hour play time on it. Willing to sell it. Hit me up if interested. RIP Todd , really bummed to hear he passed on this video...fuck.

    Do you have a video on the Rivera amp? I'd love to see a LONG video on that, to hear all the features.

    In the mid 90s I saw death metal bands on the sunset strip using the ada MP2 which has gain on top of gain; nailed that Suffocation scooped tone. Btw back then Suffocation used the Ampeg VL 1002 designed by u know who. Interesting how those scorching tones of yesteryears are now referred to as: abrasive and un-tight 🤣🤣
