    FaQ:
    Q: What's the best gyro controller?
    A: DualSense has the smoothest gyro, but any first-party controllers with gyro will work just fine. Dualshock 4, Switch Pro Controller, DualSense... it doesn't matter, just use what you have!

    I'm still waiting on that Gyro to Joystick Camera video friend! I have used all of the Gyro Behaviors extensively and Gyro to Mouse obviously has superior aiming capability. But in some games, the dual input (Controller and M/K) causes frame stutter. I have tried moving every input over to M/K, but it makes in-game movement with a thumbstick mapped to WASD very clunky. The games I play require very fast, fluid movement - so it's not an option for me.
    I am VERY close to a fine tuned setup with Gyro to Joystick Camera. I have created two very different settings schemes that result in very similar results but really not sure which is better. I would love to get your resources and possibly even conversate on what could be the better option.

      I feel you, bro. Alan Wake 2 had this issue too. The thing is, I've never managed to make "gyro to joystick" work decently, not only that, but also developing a method for properly calibrating it.
      Because of that I tend to focus more on gyro to mouse, but anyway, gyro to joystick config guide will come out eventually 😅

      @@FlickStickVids I had huge improvements when I moved the Minimum Joystick Output (for less jarring application of the virtual joystick) to 10% or less and the In-Game Max Turn Rate (to reduce how dramatic real world movement of the controller is necessary for movement of the camera) all the way down to varying values of 15°, 30° and 45°.
      Once those values are perfected, then calibrating the settings really comes down to a personal preference on the Joystick Power Curve (responsiveness) and Gyro° Sensitivity (overall sensitivity).
      I found that changing the In-Game sensitivity settings to the maximum values allowed for a higher range of sensitivity settings in Steam when applying the changes to Minimum Joystick Output and In-Game Max Turn Rate. Gyro° Sensitivity can be tuned all the way down to the .01-.5 range for very fine tuned movement. Then the Right Joystick sensitivity could be tuned down in Steam to compensate for the very high In-Game sensitivity. Unifying sensitivities for Hip Fire and ADS was also helpful. I am still able to utilize settings like Look Boost or Look Acceleration without affecting how the Gyro operates.
      Just some things to consider. I have spent hundreds of hours in Steam calibrating settings and mapping multi-command sequences, but it's really nice to see someone else who knows what they are talking about 👍

    • @FlickStickVids
      @FlickStickVids  Месяц назад +2

      Thx for the support!
      The gyro gaming subreddit seems to be getting a bunch of posts about this too.
      Common reasons for gyro and flickstick being jittery:
      1. Gyro needs calibration.
      2. Stick drift or stick flicker can make your flickstick super jittery
      3. Lack of support for proper mixed inputs, meaning that the game doesn't handle well gamepad and mouse inputs at the same time.
      4. Low polling rate on the controller. You can test that with a polling rate tester, you can find that easily online.
      5. Faulty controller. If it was working before and it isn't working now, maybe the controller is dying.
      6. The input remapper that you are using is broken. Sometimes input remappers update, and these updates break some things. Test if the gyro is jittery with other input remappers too.

      @@FlickStickVids I'm totally lost on the sensitivity settings for the gyro. And does the video settings such as 1080i have an effect on said settings?

    • @FlickStickVids
      @FlickStickVids  2 месяца назад +2

      The gyro sensitivity follows the natural sensitivity scale. 1x sensitivity: 1° in real life will translate to 1° in game, but like I said in the video, that's way too slow, because you don't want to awkwardly rotate the controller 90° to look 90° in-game.
      2x: 1° in real life will translate to 2° in-game. And so on with 3x, 4x etc...
      You need to properly calibrate the pixel per 360° to the sensitivity scale to work correctly. But some games apply mouse smoothing and other filters on top of your mouse that make it impossible to calibrate this value. Like shown in the video, you can use the site mousesensitivity.com to check if the game you are trying to play suffers from this and how to fix it. So yes, your resolution can affect the sensitivity in some games (idk, if this is the case for this one).

      @meboz67 2 месяца назад +2

      There's very few situations where you need gyro to turn off or on in FPS games. Usually you want it on at all times. There are some use cases that may require turning it off.
      For example, in The Finals, I use an invisibility grenade that has to be thrown at my feet; I set the gyro to be suppressed when I click the right thumbstick and another command that tells the camera to look down at a fast speed. This was necessary because gyro actually overrides right joystick commands in four directions. Basically with the click of a button, my character equips a grenade, looks down and throws the grenade, then looks back up. This wouldn't be possible without suppressing gyro.
      Another example where it is very useful would be using projectile based slow firing weapons - like a sniper or bow. You can precision aim with gyro while holding a button, but when you release the button the projectile fires and gyro turns off instantaneously. This is very helpful if your finger leaving the trigger causes the controller to shake and make you miss your shot. Hitscan weapons don't really have this problem, as the bullet travels out of the weapon faster than the time it would take your hand shake to throw the aim off.
      The more time you spend using gyro, the better you will feel about leaving it on all the time. It helps with camera movement even when you are not ADSing and firing your weapon i.e. acquiring a target before ADSing. The only strong consideration for suppressing gyo often would be flickstick, but that is a very difficult aiming style to get used to. You'd be better of with very high sensitivity on the thumbstick controls for looking around fast, and a lower sensitivity on gyro for precision aiming. This was long, thanks if you read this far 😂

      Which game and which controller are you using?

      @@FlickStickVids I'm playing apex legends, I'm using a normal standard ps4 controller. i watch like youtube people that play it like mizery and extessy if you seen them and it looks smooth, looks like he is playing on keyboard, he shows the sens and how to set it up and on for him its pretty fast and responsive but i will follow it do everything he did but its slow af and just does not seem playable. mine is just like bugged or something. ill aim in and start shooting and ill start tilting to look right and i will move and continue to tilt and my crosshairs will just stay or it just feels like its not responding to what im trying to do fast or smooth enough.

      @YTkingofall Apex Legends does not support mixed inputs (check 01:36 for more info). You will need to replace every binding on the controller from controller buttons to keyboard and mouse keys.
      That's not a gyro problem, that's the game's fault. I hope this helps!

      @@FlickStickVids yeah i did that i have a different action set that's just all keyboard inputs. i think i might have circle on B tho every other button is keyboard so i can tap strafe. but yeah, idk still doesn't make sense that when i use the same everything same sensitivity as extessy but its still slow when there is fast yeah idk shit is so confusing. isntead of gyro to mouse i just use the mouse one and that one works better but its to sensitive when i click trigger to pick stuff up my arrow shoots up a couple inches so i miss the pickup. but thank you for the help. i wish i could send a video or something its hard to explain

      @@FlickStickVids is there certain settings that need to be on?

    can i ask you a question? when you play 3rd person shooters in which you use l2 to aim, do you still use the 3x or 4x sens or change it to something slower? also why do you prefer to use something like hold to disable gyro instead of using recenter camera?

    • @FlickStickVids
      @FlickStickVids  2 месяца назад +1

      Of course! On most third person games I use 2x sens. Using a gyro disable button is a bit more versatile, because it can work as a ratchet button as well as a calibration button. So if I want to slightly reposition my hands, I can quickly tap the gyro disable button, but with a re-center button, I need to make sure my hands are at a resting position.

      No, xbox controllers do not have gyro sensors.

    I hate myself, I put so much competitive pressure on myself, that I can't enjoy playing anymore, when I started gyro it was fun, but then I put pressure on myself again to be overly good...
    I hate it, but can't control it. Gyro is fun though.

      Hey man, don't say that.
      You can be proud about achieving a high skill level on the games you play, and if that's not fun anymore, just stop playing them! I promise nothing bad will come because of this.
      Don't you have any non-competitive game that brings you joy?

    • @Somtric
      @Somtric 2 месяца назад +3

      @@FlickStickVids Not anymore, used to. I also have Aspergers, so it's actually not that easy to just "stop".
      I do try hard to change from a competitive game to do more single-player and co-op games.
      I've played CS since 2000 and all the comp games that have been since, TF2, OW, Val, Apex, Spectre Divide etc.
      Used to Love CS 1.6 and TF2, but now a days... man, I can't find that competitive fire, it's more stressful.
      Well, enough yapping, can you suggest any good joycon like controllers for PC? I tried Joycon, but they had huge delay that came and went, could never get them to really work.
      But I feel like that kind of gyro control is more me, like directedinput has it. (Switch 2 joycons maybe, we'll see)

      Yeah, I understand it's easier said than done, I hope you find some game that brings you happiness again soon.
      There's a guy on RUclips who plays a bunch of games with joy-cons on PC, I believe he uses the Legion Go TrueStrike.

      @@FlickStickVids Yes, that's the guy I just mentioned "directedinput".
      He hasn't answered me yet though and the Go True Strike cannot be bought seperately from the handheld console, unfortunately.
