    In this video we show you how to replace the agitator dogs on your washer. You may have noticed that your clothes aren't as clean, or they are in the same position that you left them, meaning the washer agitator didn't tumble them over and clean them properly. Replace the plastic agitator dogs inside the washer agitator, and you should be good as new. We've added some additional information on removing the entire washer agitator, and we've also included a link for GE washers. Removing the agitator on GE washers is slightly different. Thanks for watching!
    Thanks for watching our DIY Videos. Check out our website at www.byrdas.com or call us at 318-459-8745 for more info.

    I was this close (hold thumb and forefinger a micro-millimeter apart) from calling my trusted appliance salesman and asking 'what do you have in the way of a new washer?' Now, $7.98 later, and guided by this superb walk-through, the washer feels fully restored. Applauding the helping instinct here. Exactly as advertised.

      The Agitator Dogs are no longer sold in stores near where I live in Texas. Had to get them from Jeff Bezos, as if the guy needs more money. Lowe’s also has them for order online. And EBay. The entire kit for the agitator top and washers is also online.

    Tim, THANKS for the complete step by step video. Was a super easy and inexpensive DIY 5-10 minute fix (after you obtain 4 new nylon agitator dogs). All 4 dogs in my Maytag Clothes Washer had their nylon dogs were not actually broken off or crumbed into pieces, but simply the dogs had become just chipped & worn down on the outside edges from years of use and would no longer catch the agitator's top section. Easy fix just follow the step by step video and unbolt 1 bolt, lift off the top agitator section and gear assembly from the bottom section, pop out the black retainer ring & 4 old nylon dogs and replace with the 4 new ones, then slip back on the retaining ring, slide the gear assembly that holds the 4 dogs and re-bolt back the top agitator section piece to the bottom section and I am now back in business! Thanks again for the easy to follow video. Hint: If you are really worried that you can't do it or won't know how your model looked like when you take it part, then for piece of mind simply take a few pics with your cellphone along the way, you can always delete the pics afterwards. Skill Level Required: Basic

      Hi there… I had a really nice vintage Maytag washer given to me n I was all excited.. guy said it worked n my friend came over to run it thru a cycle … it filled, it drained and it spun .. but it wouldn’t agitate… did your washer spin too? Thank you for your reply … I hate getting rid of this machine.. very clean n doesn’t even look used much … it’s a very heavy washer n is small somewhat but was excited because older washers go forever … repair guys want about 90$ just to come out and then labor and parts r separate so I’m looking at 250-300$ .. on social security so that makes it hard .. I’m mechanically inclined n if it was just these dogs such as in this video that’d be fun actually to attempt doing this .. just wondered if your washer spun even tho it didn’t agitate .. saw somewhere else that it could also be the timer

    The washer fell off inside the tub at 3:38 seconds when you pulled the lower agitator off and turned upside down, you can hear it fall and make a noise in the video, You put everything back together it would of been good to let people be aware of this when you noticed it didn't work properly . But hey, I can't complain about 2 bucks in 20 years! I'd forgotten what they were called and I appreciate that you posted this video so I can tackle it again. Sure would be great if there was a demonstration of what the washer sounds like when it's turned on. Is it grinding? Or does the washer sound normal but won't agitate?

    • @yourfuturestepfather3171
      @yourfuturestepfather3171 2 года назад

      It will sound normal. It's only 4 small plastic pieces that wear out. So there's actually the lack of contact rather extra contact that would cause the "grinding" sound.
