- Hyello!! This week, I'm FINALLY tackling a historical sewing project! Well, kinda. It's a bit of a hodge-podge but SO AM I, so here you go!

I literally had do dig some courage out because I had some chores outside and my neighbours were there constantly watching what I was doing. It was like they were waiting for me and the fact that my parents don't really get along with them because those neighbours are quite unpleasant didn't help at all. 😳😵

Oh my gosh- the scene in Little Mermaid where Ursula is in her big shell and eating shrimp and complaining how she's wasting away to practically nothing... When I was a kid, we had this over stuffed arm chair where the back kind of looked like a shell because of the shape, and I would pretend to be her, flopping off the edge all dramatically, eating chips. Lol thanks for that fun reminder.

I am an old lady - in my 30s lol - and I absolutely do that, lol. You'd think I was 50 years _older_ with the noises of effort I make getting up and sitting down! (But no I'm just lazy and out of shape 😅 - but I *feel* old.)
My favorite satisfying Disney moment has always been that moment in the beginning of The Lion King where Rafiki brushes past all of those gourds that are strung & hanging from the ceiling. The sound they made as they bumped into each other is just... *chef’s kiss*

Satisfying Disney movie moment: Mulan getting ready for the matchmaker (specifically when they dump the hair potions and water on her head)
My sister and I always acted that part out in the bath 😂 And Mulan's lipstick and eyeliner application 🤩❤️ that's my #1 satisfying Disney moment

Watching Rachel use her fabric scissors to cut paper made me go through a lot of emotions at the same time.

Regency needs the right stays to make it flattering. I've tried it both ways and that is my conclusion. 1790s very early Regency you can...get away with it more.

I feel like a lot of costube has evolved into commentary channels instead of sewing -- which is fine, that's fun too-- but I really love your continued interest and focus on different sewing projects. it's so inspiring and fun, and encourages me to keep trying new sewing ideas of my own!

I know everyone says Aurora is boring, but for me it has always been wish fulfilment... Aurora is beautiful, yes, but she is good, and everyone around her believes that she deserves to be protected. Detachable sleeve cardigans are sold in Japan! I love it so much! It attaches with buttons and looks like a cute style
I'm constantly knitting separate sleeves (in thin cotton yarn) because they are great for layering, allows for keeping arms warm when it's windy (or when cycling) but easily removing the extra layer when going into hot spaces, because like Rachel I am VERY heat intolerant and prone to "glow"... 🥵

The spaghetti scene in Lady and the Tramp, Masterpiece! Holy Mother Of Puppies, I love that skirt! In fact, the whole outfit ROCKS! Worth every cent and more. Never feel guilty spending money on materials. Life's short. Just enjoy the moment of shopping for them! This outfit isn't considered a costume where I'm originally from. In New England, a lot of times girls/women often wear dresses like this (or similar facsimiles of this outfit), which are oftentimes worn in the spring and summer months. ROCK ON, Rachel! You're becoming quite a master seamstress.
This puts me in mind of something I wanted to ask. Now that the “princess” series are sort of played out, could we do literary roll models? Anne’s puff sleeve dress done with historical accuracy NEEDS to be made!!!

Aurora is so underrated as a princess! I absolutely adore her movies and I adore her story in general! So happy to see her getting some love! Ariel and Rapunzel are also tied with her for my favorite princess. Would love to see an Ariel and Rapunzel dress next.

I have so many moments of satisfaction with Disney, but the biggest and all is when in Atlantis Milo receives the pastor's diary, that expression of him finally getting what he was looking for and making sure that his grandfather was right, never left my mind.

I absolutely love this!!!! Sleeping Beauty is set in the 14th century as Prince Phillip says in the movie and this is as accurate as 14th century can be as there is very little to no extant examples that aren’t reconstructions or in storage where nobody can see them.
