i'm excited to try once the ice melts here! last year i kinda gave up lol. i usually was falling off to the side so hoping it works to put my arch over the toes
Hey Alfonso, nice and thanks for the insight. Yeah turning upwind slightly can help essentially by building more rail pressure and making the board feel stable. You're on to something for sure. :)
Ok so I am so struggling with this foot change! I have been watching numerous videos your hop is a great suggestion. But curious many other videos do a long drawn out carve then switch feet after riding their side. Your approach is a much quicker motion with the switch happening before the turn ? Hoping you can do another video showing kite and foot movement together. The timing is quite challenging !
Hey Lori, yeah give it a try and let us know :) i find the hop before the gybe is the easiest moment to switch. That said, unless you can ride toe-side both ways, you will need to do a switch after the gybe on the other direction as you will be coming in heals and end on toes, then need to switch. so both are good to get, but for me, as a regular stance, when traveling on my most comfortable heels, I usually hop before the gybe. quickly switching to toes, and then Gybe ready to go back the other way, then, at the other end, ill gybe, that will get me onto my toes, then switch. Hope that makes sense!
@@FlukesKitesurfing You are awesome ! Everything totally makes sense I just need to do it 😂 can you come here to give me a lesson ! Looks super windy here for the next week. So once the wind lightens a bit I will be back on my directional and will keep you posted !
It seems that it's all about balance and quickness. Because when showing a switch in static, e.g. board on a beach - kite pull is not taken in account here. And a moment you're starting to bring back leg forward, your current front leg is really a strong pivot point with kite pulling. To my experience after watching plenty of tutorials on a subject, only practice will show you the way when you will make a first switch.
Hey Mike, yes exactly, switching your stance is all about practise. Only after trying it over and over can you get it :) If you are struggling with it, the easiest way to land it for the first time is to actually do it just before a Gybe. Right when you are slowing down.
@@mikemiller774 haha yes if you are going to power carve it's not the time agreed... :) but I've found for people who are having trouble getting the switchfoot the best time to land it for the first time, is to switch from your heels to toes just before a small Gybe. Then they are setup for heels the other way.. and as they slow down and bring the kite higher naturally for the gybe, they can quickly switch. Seems to work for people.
Is it better to go straps or strapless when On a surfboard as I’m just beginning in this i’ve been using a twin tips for years and I’m just trying to get into the surfboard
Strapless - more fun, less limitations. I haven't tried directional with straps, can't really imagine the point of this, perhaps except maybe some specific big fast waves, dunno.
Thanks for the tips! I managed to get the step swap going (sometimes). I still need a lot of practice but this explanation was a game changer 🙌
Awesome :) Glad it helped!
Great Video! It's Very easy to understand when you describe it. Your delivery is good as well
Cheers Peter stoked to hear!
Have fun practicing out there & let us know how you go :)

I've been practicing this for a while and today I noticed that just "looking" at your feet while switching helps a lot.
Nice! yeah for sure :)
You rock! Excellent job!! 😎
Stoked to hear thank you!

For sure! You can do it!
I have found that going upwind a little helps before doing the switch, I will have to try the hop.

@@FlukesKitesurfing tnx man, i'll try that approach, since my switch is far from being dialed in. Usually i try from toe to heal after jibe.

Exactly!
Thanks look like I’ll be taking my straps off then lol
