    Episode 3: The Foot Change - to tie in with the release of our new Foiling Foot Changes coaching video, today Rob is going to run you all through the body movements for the foot switch - whether you are riding a foil or surfboard. These are the drills we use with our coaching clients down the beach, so its perfect for you in your living room! Build up muscle memory ready for when you get back on the water. The body movement is just one part, the kite and board/foil is equally as important and you can see how they all fit together in Progression's full Foiling foot changes video.
    To truly understand all aspects of the foiling foot change - kite, body, board and foil, check out the new Progression video:

    Kitesofaing is Progression's new web series, offering constructive techniques you can practice at home during the COVID-19 lockdown (though nothing to stop you carrying on when things go back to normal). The plan is for two videos each week:
    * The Weekend video will be focused on "doing", activities you can try and practice at home
    * The Mid-week video will cover a range of topics and focus more on better understanding through detailed theory briefings and question and answer sessions - submit your questions to Rob at kitesofaing@progression.me

    I've been listening to you for almost decades now. It's wonderful to see you in person. Thanks for everything.
    I believe I purchased some of your first videos on VHS.

      Thank Elias for supporting us over all these years. It's fun to step in front of the camera and not just be a voice - actually really enjoying making these videos as they are really an extension of the Progression Live coaching that we now do. And thankfully I missed the VHS side of video production, we squeezed in at the start of the DVD revolution!

    Thanks for this video. I can't believe that a video in the living room helped more than the video that you guys made in the water. I was able to see the concept and 3 section later I mastered.

    Been doing foot-switches for 6-7 years but especially on the the toe to heel goofy I'm still no better than %60. Maybe %80 heal to toe regular. I will focus on your lesson as all the bad habits you highlight are mine

    Mate, golden!!! I was missing the part of placing feet next to each other facing inwards. Just had a session in +4 deg C. 1.5hrs on water amd only 5 falls due to feet change! My success rate went up from ~30% to 90+ 🎉🎉🎉 thanks a lot!
    Oh and “how to put weight on front” - for me helps loving front leg back a bit. Then you have to shift weight on the front foot or the board will keep climbing

    • @progressionsports
      @progressionsports  Год назад

      Glad it helped and more pop for foils or speed for surfboards will means you don't need to move your front foot back at all - can see how it might help but will lose you some control. But keep practicing and that success rate will hit 100% before you know it!! 🔥

    Thank you for this video! I was working on the foot switch for about a month, and after seeing this video, I got a 50% succes rate. Strange no one else points out the bent knees stance and kicking the foil before the switch. Anyway, it helped me

    Another great vid. If you had your hands up it would be good for winging?

    • @progressionsports

      You can definitely use the same technique for winging, infact I speak about that very idea here: ruclips.net/video/8zPSdNKf4_s/видео.html

    Hi when changing feet on a surfboard do you head upwind or downwind slightly?

    • @markgransbury8377
      @markgransbury8377 3 года назад

      Anybody....

    • @progressionsports
      @progressionsports  3 года назад +1

      On a surfboard, you can carving slightly upwind, as this again helps to tension the lines and get the board more stable as cuts through the water more evenly. But it is quite a small subtle movement. This excerpt for the full surfboard gybe video should help to explain: ruclips.net/video/5hloRmryzPA/видео.html
