I started flipping cars when I was 19. One of my more memorable flips was a 2004 Mazda 6 got it for $600 and 144k miles with it only needing an ignition coil. Cleared up the headlights, did the ignition coils, and gave it a good cleaning. I then listed it for 2k. Now to the good part... I had shown the car to someone who was uninterested and took of the engine cover to show them the work I did. Then an hour later had someone who was willing to buy it. They said they wanted it, and I drove with them to the bank. I shit you not the car started smoking at the bank. Then it proceeded to start on fire. Turned out I didn’t screw the engine cover back on. I learned a very important lesson that day. Don’t forget to put insurance on your car when selling it.

@@BuddysDIY The engine cover melted and wreaked havoc causing the hood cable to snap so I couldn’t get the hood open to stop the smoking. The cops were really cool guys and didn’t give me a ticket for no insurance saving my butt. Ended up selling the scorched car to pay for the tow costs. And made $40 to buy myself some comfort food. 😂

Watched the whole vid. Exactly how I have approached the car flip business. I’ve managed to flip 7 cars this year alone. My best flip was purchasing a beat up Toyota Altezza (is300) for $4000. I invested $3,000 on various fixes and swapped it straight across for a 2007 BMW 550i. Heavily modified. Which I sold within a week for $15000. A profit of $8000. Greatest accomplishment. This video was the exact steps I took. This will definitely show you how it’s done. Good work

Just got into flipping cars by accident. I bought a truck for $3,500 that was supposed to replace my current work truck. Well I put both my current work truck and the truck I purchased for $3,500 up for sale and the new truck sold for $7,000. Doubled my money. I was so impressed that I started looking at other vehicles to buy and flip. @@BuddysDIY The problem with Maaco is, their inconsistent work. I saw some videos on RUclips, some have great paint jobs and many have bad paint jobs it depends always on the local maaco shop.
The paint job for $90 is superb, you cant beat that.
Your videos are good but there is no music and you need an intro.
There is more but i dont wanna have a feeling that i am too critical.

    • @BuddysDIY
      @BuddysDIY  4 года назад +12

Naw lay it on me. I'd like to hear feedback. I had an intro but I always talked with others who said an intro gives Impatient propel a reason to click off early.
Also music can be Anoyying but it may be a nice touch. Ill dabble with it when I edit the next vid and see. Don't ppl complain about music in videos. I see people comment "ohh thank god you don't have Anoyying music in your vids!"
I guess it's all subjective to a point of course. But yeah lay it on me I'd like to hear all feedback from my subscribers

    • @ibobeko4309

@@BuddysDIY Do a small intro like the Car Wizard. I would use music for fast pace scenarios like sanding or painting. I would had put that on the video full lengthening in fast pace with music in the background.
What people underestimate is the consistency of their pictures and graphics they show, some of pictures you put on like the Elephant look like nice but then comes the 1990´s Windows graphics mechanic.
And what is really bad, you put so much work in taking pictures and taking videos of the steps you do but then use fonts and backgrounds that look like straight from Microsoft movie maker.
And putting pictures of Jack Black(2003), Borat (2006) and Leonardo Di Caprio (2013) is not a good idea, it makes the video older.
I hope i was not so hard on you. Good luck buddy.

1.) how long does it usually take you to sell the cars you flip? if it takes too long do you lower your prices?
2.) what if someone asks for trade ups? do you accept (if its a good offer of course) or do you just ignore them/tell them you would prefer cash instead

Watched both flipping videos. Great quality in every aspect of both! I’d like to get into this to augment my income and start at the bottom because I just don’t have much of a budget to start off. I’d like to see flipping of more low end but dependable vehicles like Toyota and Honda for those of us who want to start out with lower budgets. Maybe $200-300 cars that don’t need more than a couple hundred in parts and selling when done in the $750-1250 range. Camry, Corolla, Accord, Civic or others in that category. Also, repairs that only require moderate toolsets. Thanks a lot for your great content and production quality.

Hey buddy, thanks for showing this video it is very educational! Im not a car guru but i do use the flipping technique to upgrade my driving-car as i go, from 1990s daihatsu charade that i own 10 years ago ($500) to 2016 mitsubishi outlander ($15000) 3 years ago, a long way tho! Whenever i sold my car, i would drive my partner's car until i spotted a new potential car. The most challenging part for me is always understanding the car's mechanics so i always stick to the good old toyota. If it has a logbook and the car sounds right (basic oil leak check and etc), i will just buy it right away and have it serviced at my friend's mechanic shop (which is a bonus if you know someone). I always wanted to learn how to spray paint a car because the exterior look always sells better. Im able to do a bit of interior detailing so that helps. Adding door visor, window tint, changing car's audio player to third party touch screen tablet and adding dashcam are my other ways of adding value as long as the profit margin hits right. You just motivated me to want to spray paint my car now!

Question. I scrolled for a bit and didn't see it asked so I'm sorry if you've answered it before. In some states there's a limit on how many cars someone can sell before they have to get a "dealer's license" or something like that. Have you had to do something like that or do you live in a state where it's not necessary. Something absolutely crucial and not mentioned in this video,
is that to get parts at a reasonable cost you need to get a mechanic license.
And don't forget, depending of your state, you have to pay sales taxes when buying a new or used car.
In some states you don't paid sales taxes, or you only paid the difference between old and new for trade in,
but for most states you paid full states taxes for any transaction,
for example 9.25% in California and about 2% DMV.

If you are not a dealer then yes I recommend that. Some people jump titles. It's not legal but many people do it

    Just a hint:
Since you do it for a living and might sand cars more often than your average joe I'd recommend using a mask whilst sanding. Last thing you want is crappy health in your mid 40s.

Trust me I would. Covid had it near impossible to get a mask at the time!!

Buddy I was young like yourself once upon a time and like yourself I was fired up when I really started making money in the car business and I wanted to share it with everyone. But just a friendly word to the wise, all that you are really doing is creating competition for yourself which is NEVER a good ideal. I have helped people get it to flipping cars and they ended up costing me thousands of dollars in lost profit.

Hey man more competitiveness bin my area won't be a bad thing. We have a huge surplus of pos cars lol

When you decided to start flipping cars how much money did you have to start with and what car/truck etc did you happen to buy? Been thinking very seriously of trying my hand at this, been around it my whole childhood life as a kid watching my step dad do it but thats been yrs ago so curious of what your budget was when getting started on your 1st flip is all. Great content as well!!

Good video and great profit. I'd like to see the total time commitment though....trip to junkyard, priming, painting, locks, etc. That's the part that worries me. You have a great background to do these things but it would take me twice as long lol

Total amount of time invested took about 3 days. Just over a weekend of time invested. If I got a cheap paint job it would have been way quicker!!!

I think you should have counted the time you spent on it, that's loads of manual work, loads of hours, sure it's good money, but you need to pump those hours (time is money!). Good job and really enjoyed the vid.
