Be sure to check out my latest video on this. See how much I have into this rebuild and how much I sold it for.
I was in the automotive industry for 45 years. You say it’s easy but you are modestly underestimating your extreme talents. Love the way you go after your projects with such confidence and no fear. God bless. Keep up the awesome videos.
You are definitely right. I was in the industry for 20years. He is definitely under estimating his self- taught talent. And then filming what he's doing as well. 👍
Absolutely agree
100000% agreed
i agree, this young guy has some serious skills and shows no signs of intimidation going into a project with this much damage.. great video!
Step 1: Become a body shop
😂😂😂
You Rock. You make it look so easy but 99 out of 100 of us would be crying trying to do that. Well done, makes for compulsive viewing. 👌🏼👍🏼
If you heat up the tip on the seam sealer applicator and flatten it out you can mimic the factory job pretty close. Good work man! Definitely a good skill to know.
Zach, when you weld a long thin seam, weld 2 inches, use a wet rag and cool it down, space 5 inches then weld 2 inches, cool with rag then go back, weld the middle between the welds, cool with a rag and keep going, takes longer but less warping. On a long thicker quarter panel weld 6 inches, space 6 cool with wet rag and weld 6, space and repeat.
Just what I was saying. I don't know if I'd go 2 inches on that razor thin steel though. Maybe not much more than a 1/4 inch, but with the wet rag technique you can move back and forth a whole lot faster.
The best way on the tin foil modern cars are made is alot of little (sub 1/2 inch) welds, spaced 3 or 4 inches apart slowly filling the areas in only after the metal is cold to the touch
You could ask 100 different welders the same question and get 100 different answers. What is it they say about opinions and assholes? Lol!
@@jamesjones4607 I worked with an old timer that would heat the seam up with a torch like he was gonna weld aluminum, but that was on older cars that had armer plate for door skins. Haha! Just remembered thinking he was full of shit until I watched him do it on an old '47 Buick.
Few things to note 1. Should have removed the 12v battery and the hybrid battery before welding
2. per toyota (and every manufacturer) you cant reuse a folded seam panel which that quarter is (wheel arch is crimped over the inner structure)
3. You arent allowed to splice or reuse the HSS inner structure
4. He cut the stucture of the inner rocker, this is also HSS, and needed to be replaced
If anyone is doing this to your car (looking at you geico, progressive, and farmers) dont let them touch your car, it is unsafe and illegal, car must be returned to pre accident condition which means used weld on panels are not allowed
These RUclips rebuilders are eventually going to get someone killed. This guy has no idea how dangerous this repair could be in a subsequent collision. His only concern is that the exterior panels line up.... I hope no one ever needs to rely on that LR seat belt. It was bad enough with guys like samcrac rebuilding cars for himself and theoretically only putting himself and his family in danger, but this guy is straight up saying he's rebuilding it to sell to someone for a profit and he's proud that he somehow got it with a clean title!!
I'm glad someone familiar in the field spoke up. I was going to recommend taking it to a Collision Specialist before reselling it if for nothing else than to reassure his work is up to par and not only OK. Because he's putting another families life at risk for the sake of making a few bucks. If this was his own car Fine and Dandy. But no not to sell.
This. He lost me mid way when he said this is really hard so I'm not going to replace it. If you're selling a car with a not salvaged title it better be repaired properly.
Ah the "clean carfax" junk ... It was totaled before and is still... totaled .. a complete loss... If you want something cheap and unsafe to putz around in .. no worries... but this car is still a total loss because all the work is STRICTLY cosmetic not structural. Most folks think "clean carfax" means never been in an accident.. It only means no accidents have been reported or found out... big difference.
I was thinking the same. Thanks for the clarification! Need to be cautious this time around...
I’m really impressed with what that Frame pulling setup can do!!
Should be a warning to those of you who've purchased a car with a "clean" title and sometimes a "clean" car fax. To be honest the easiest way to see if any major repairs have been done is to take a car to CarMax - they usually can find just about every repair/repaint on a car... I know Zach would disclose but in some places they may only say that this had "minor damage"....
Why
Major body only damage
That would be a stat write-off in Australia. Illegal to ever see a road ever again!
It's funny, every time I have enquired about a used car with a rebuilt title, the seller had no documentation on the work done, and claimed that it only had 'minor' damage like a broken taillight or needed a new bumper.
Great video, as always. I love watching you make things work. Also, as a RUclipsr, I love your background music!! Keep making those videos and we'll keep watching!!
I’ve been flipping cars full time since I was 17 now 25… Superb skill sir I know first hand how much work it is not easy everyone seems to think it is. Really is art
great work 👍
continue doing these quick rebuild series and your channel will grow big time
audience love that
Most impressive work I've seen you do yet! Outstanding job young man it looks great! 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Keep the door lock actuators out of the old doors, they are a common fail point for these cars. Great work, enjoying this Ultimate Rebuild!!
Thank you for always sharing your journey into learning new skills, love that you never let anything stop you. 😊
Love the new videos. Keep up the great work. Awesome to watch.
I love this! Flipping cars adds extremely good value to your channel. Great job, thanks for taking us along
Zach you should be rightly proud of your work. I really look forward to your posts and projects. Keep them coming.
Great job Zach. Can't wait to see the completed project.
Just found your channel and love it! Your pacing is excellent - great camera work, too! I don't do any rebuilds, but am a car guy who loves watching this stuff. Keep up the excellent work.
Great job! Better than anything I could do! Thanks for posting!
Keep up the awesome hustle. Great videos man!
That’s a great profit margin Zach! Let’s go! I love it!
Hats off! As a diesel mechanic, I understand how much work you accomplished to make this happen & you made it look effortless. We need more people like you in the industry 🙏 amazing workmanship!
👍🏻 …you made it look easy …good-solid quality work
Just fyi any hybrid’s value is based on battery age. Unless the buyer is an idiot. I flipped an undamaged Prius after rebuilding the hybrid battery. Still only sold it for $5500 in Central Florida. Best of luck to you though. Your $11000 is an estimate without a damaged/totaled/salvage vehicle. Again you may get lucky with an idiot buyer, but most wouldn’t pay more than 50% KBB if the car has frame damage or salvage history.
He literally said it has a clean title.
AWESOME!!! Love your vids. You are a very quick study and you make it look much simpler that the job actually is.
Dope dude! Had this recommended to me and I'm glad I clicked on it. Thorougly enjoyed watching you do this.
Zach, you are one very talented guy, I wish you well in all your endeavors, if anyone on you tube deserves praise I feel it is you, well done, You are appreciated
It’s cool seeing you work on new things
Great job on the car Zach. Look forward to the next video.
Wow Zak. Outstanding work. Been following you since you were doing the Volkspods. Your skill set is building splendidly with every project. Keep up this fabulous content🙏
just a rare comment to say I love your videos for a late night wind down - keep up the good work!
You're VERY talented Zach! Don't sell yourself short! A LOT of young guys out there should look up to you! This car is going to come out gr8 and you'll flip it for a gr8 price!
New subscriber here. Hope to see more of this prius and the result of what it looks like before selling it and also the price that you sold it for. That will be awesome to see. I wish I knew how to do this kind of work. Body work looks hard to do and I am not a welder and don't know how to weld. Great video.
love this flip series. please do the cost break
Interested in the series, but ... a prius?! You have so much more courage than I do...
Ikr most of those have headgasket issues. Im a car dealer and also do what this guy does in the video lol prius are a big no no on certain years
Masking tape the sides of seam sealer brush over tape and then peel. Looks crisp and professional. Like the wrecked content. And the boat building...😅
Great job Zach.
You can smash the end of the seam sealer. Make it flat. Then cut it off only leaving about 1 1/2 inches left. Then when you apply it. Constant pressure. Then pause every 1/8 inch. You can use a old raptor liner kit and buy rubber undercoating for 35 a gallon.
Very clear and logically presented video, enjoyed watching this journey.
Yo @Ultimate Rebuilds these videos are sick and that Frame Puller is exactly what I've been looking for on my DIY builds! Please keep making videos on this and reviewing the durability I'm super interested. Then all I'd have to do is get into welding.. 🤔🤔🤔
Wow what a big job good thing you have all the rite tools and attitude. Awesome.
Your dog 🐕 taking a dump in backround was to 😂 😄 good job 👍
Good update keep it up the good work 👍👍👍
i can totally see samcrac giving you a call for your frame machine skills for a future collab. Nice job. impressed with that machine and your skills.
Excellent work
This is great until someone is injured during another collision in that car, and you are sued for everything you have and ever will have because you did an unsafe repair. Toyota has some of the strictest guidelines for collision repair out there.
Can’t wait for the next video , please make it longer than this 😊 keep doing what you’re doing
Looking forward to this!
Looks amazing!!
If you think you’re getting a good deal on a clean title car just know it may be hacked together. Inspect it closely.
I've seen some hacked collision repairs and this one is seriously bad... these RUclips rebuilders are going to end up getting people killed
Great job! Autobody repairs are not easy. I love what you’re doing.
Great project. You make it look easy.
Great work!
What a talent you are. Well done young man 👏👏👏
Good job man you got a lot done
Amazing job Zach!
Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
Very interesting product Vevor makes. Really a game changer if i can do my own frame pulls at home rather than taking it to someone..
Bro your work is amazing, need more body guys being as meticulous as you. Keep up the good and hard work. Greetings from Tomball Tx.
Nice work, Zack.
Looks good man.
Hey man. Might want to check your main battery now. If you didn't unplug the main hybrid battery before welding on the body you could have fried several electrical components. I've seen videos from channels like Electric Supercar who ruined BMS's from not disconnecting the big battery before arcing electricity to the frame. I didn't see a clip of you getting to the battery and disconnecting it so I was curious to see if anything got messed up. Sorry if it was! Hope it's not!!!!! Absolutely LOVE your videos.
Also, boostedboys talked about disconnecting the battery from their "plaidessy" before welding the 2 frames together for that reason.
GREAT WORK.👍👍
Great job!
I had one of those. It got 72mpg. You did incredible work putting that back together.
You got the tools to do this job others dont so we can't into this but I like enjoying watching this rebuild!
No one had the tools to begin with. I started with nothing and spent the last 20yrs building my tool collection to do this kinda work so basically every job I do I keep a little profit for myself and the rest is reinvested into new tools to make it more efficient or easier. I started with a hammer grinder and anvil to make my own handmade repair panels from scratch, so if aomeone is determined it can be done.
Good job!!
23:26 A backing seems like a good idea, but it is not. You are providing a place for water to get trapped and this will be the failure point in the future with rust. But welding the joint is all you need to do.
great work as usual, I really liked watching this. Just one tiny nitpick... I would have loved to see you put some weld through primer on that support piece inside the c-pillar, because untreated double layered metal like that has a tendency to rust.
Good job you make it look easy
I used to flip cars ....this is talent!
For seam sealer, put a stretch of masking tape either side of the seam, and paint on the sealer, removing the tape when still wet to give a nice factory finish.
Good rebuild my good friend
I appreciate the accounting of parts and supplies. I'd also be interested in the time you have in the project. Finding the car, inspection, locating parts, pulling time, dissassembly, reassembly and repair, body work, painting/buffing/polishing, advertising and selling the car. That and what tools are needed. I know you have all, or most, the tools needed but someone considering trying this may not know. It seems to me like if anything would have to be outsourced it could quickly turn from profit to break even or even a loss.
Good tip for welding on thin steel like that is to wet your tack welds with a wet rag immediately after welding. It works even better if you can have someone wetting the backside as soon as they see it getting hot.
Nice job!!!
You get an A+ for tenacity nice job for a home garage build!
Impressive recovery from the crunched version...
great Job!
so wonderful beautiful video Zach i love it see so nice
Dude that’s money in the bank. I bet you Easily sell it for $8500-$10000 if it’s a branded title
It’s a clean title car
Great Job New Subscriber
Impressive work
Nice Job.....👍
haha a member of my family used to work at Alan Jay in Sebring
Wow! 104K views in 2 weeks and I understand why. (That is going to age quickly, I'm sure...)
Like JeffPat mentioned, your modesty is impressive with the talent you're showing here.
I've done quite a bit of work on vehicles in my life from rebuilds to restorations to merely just fixing many of them for myself or others. I've done some body work as well.
Nothing have I done has been as extreme as this. You have a very impressive talent that not many have. Quit embarrassing us idiots out here by saying it's "EASY"!!! (Said with a smile....)
Nice job. You now have a new sub. I look forward to seeing what else is on your channel, sir.
Best way is to pull out the bent metal enough to get access to the spot welds snd drill out and remove bent inner panels. Then use your parts car for replacements. Far easier than hammering out bent metal, plus its the factory recommend method
The words "easy" and "money" RARELY go together. Therefore, take it from someone who has greater experience buying and selling cars ~ IT IS HARD WORK and anyone saying otherwise is mistaken.
Wow. You made that 1/4 look easy
Great job
A right tools and a talent makes it easy..
Even tho the old doors are scrap i hope you will take any useable parts off it and put them onto the replacement doors so the door mirror door handle and lock just to help save a bit of money
I must say, you always say you’re not a professional and this and that but you damn sure figure it out every time lol
Good work
Very nice Zach, how long did it take to get it to this point?
Looks like Stewie stole Brian's Prius again. Awesome work man!!
❤Wow that's a lot of work and skilled 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
