So much more than a role model. Most children who act out have a chemical imbalance. They can be stabilized with meds or natural methods...then comes the positive role, with activities to keep them busy.

Children with autism and Aspergers don't need role models, they need a lot of behaviorial therapy. A lot of resources are needed to help these children but lower income parents cannot afford that so they are stuck with the options they have. It's absolutely heartbreaking seeing your child struggle to cope with his/her environment. All the more reasons why healthcare should be the top priority of this country

It seems like he wants a person to be involved in his life, and communicate with him. I’m pretty sure whenever his mother “talks” with him it’s always yelling, and she’s getting on his case. That’s why he escapes home, and goes to the river.

You tend to adjust and become numb to certain things Alyssa. You become used to your dad not being around or contacting you; I have learned this from first hand experience.
My dad isn’t involved in my daily life, rarely calls, and is someone who is just there to pay child support & alimony. Don’t get me wrong, yeah it sucks. But instead of drowning in sorrow you gotta push through, it’s the only way to survive and see tomorrow.
On the bright side, it has taught me how to raise my kids if I decide on having any though!

More than likely that "prison" program is going to do a lot more harm than good and possibly make him worse. Sad his mom/aunt don't realize that or have the resources to get him the help he actually needs. Only in the south would a "therapist" recommend a prison program for kids with Autism and Aspergers smh, that just means they're not trained well enough to treat him themself.

      @_homewardbound_4149 6 лет назад +10

atmosvere I have ASD (aspergers), and this kid sounds a lot like I was a kid. Juvie didn't help me, and it won't help that kid. It just made me terrified, and I started acting out on myself. Moved out at 15, started using injection drugs, became a bad alcoholic, lived on the streets all over the country for years. Used my background in martial arts to make money underground fighting, and when an injury from a car accident put an end to that, started stealing, and doing all kinds of other crazy things.
Eventually, I figured my stuff out, and now I'm in my mid 20's, and doing better. But I know that some understanding and compassion of the way my brain works, instead of just treating me like I was a criminal and a bad kid, would have saved me a lot of trouble. My Fiance for example, is also Autistic, but had a great, understanding family, proper therapy, and didn't have his behavior criminalized even by his parents. His teens were completely different because of it.
In a few years, when we have a child, that kid will likely also have ASD, and I just hope that I can give them a better environment than the one I grew up in, where even something like not making eye contact, or stimming, made me a "bad" kid.
I hope the kid in this video gets the proper help he needs too.

All these people live at poverty level, when you work for poverty wages you don't get days and you live paycheck to paycheck so even if the parents wanted to take off work or were given the days off they cant afford it. Losing rental, utilities, food , and bill money means your kid and you could come back to a locked door and belongs on the stoop. Not to mention additional travel expenses to get there, have shelter, and meals. A lot goes into a simple trip across state for the poor. All around sad and detrimental to the spirit of the parents and the children but that's American Life.

Elite Soulfly You’d be really surprised how little backgrounds are looked into. I’ve PTSD so when I was younger I’d have flashbacks that made me flip shit hit people cause I thought I was being attacked. My parents put me in a treatment program but said I was just a autistic kid with a poor attitude and no respect for the rules. I got there and the first thing out of the head therapists mouth was “we were made to believe you needed way more help then you actually do”. They just blindly trust the parents which is messed up. While I was there this rich mom from Cali put her son there because he missed curfew once, he was there for a week before his mom pulled him out. She said “he’s learned his lesson now”. It’s fucked up how something meant to help kids is used to punish them

La Flame he isn’t destined to go to prison because he has problems now. This is part of the problem. Don’t assume on people dude you don’t know that kid at all. He doesn’t understand why what he did was wrong yet little dude just has a rough time he needs some understanding and love not getting scared out of his mind in a place he doesn’t know. He needs routine and communication and that kid will be perfectly fine in life. People need to be understanding of his needs and patient with him when he isn’t understanding what’s going on in his head.
He needs a mother who can handle him, and it’s not his mom’s fault she can’t, most parent can’t handle their children at all, but she is doing the best she can for her baby and you should respect that woman for that and not ‘he’s going to prison as an adult anyway’ her child. Give people a chance before you shit all over their whole life dude.
I hope someone stands up for you like this someday so you understand how it feels to be put into a predetermined box by a complete stranger.

these kids need more creative outlets, even if you like breaking shit. i remember once when i was doing community service as a teen (constantly getting arrested / in trouble) i was working at a recycling center and an older guy came up to me and said, "you look bored, i need you to break ALL these glass bottles...", i spent the rest of the day throwing bottles at a brick wall into a big pile of broken glass. it's one of my favorite memories. sure it didn't cure me, but young boys need a way to get out their aggression in a responsible manner

Seriously, could you always keep a close eye over your child who will work and pay the bills. Only one parent means no parents around most times so yeah you grow up thinking you can do and say what you want.

I feel bad for the autistic one. The school district I am employed by has a last chance program at my school with teachers who are certified to restrain a student when they are at risk of hurting themselves or someone else. They basically have a 1:1 ration for most of the students, which helps them because they always have that reinforcement to assist in breaking those bad behaviors. I have seen it turn around and save many kids from going down a horrible path..I wish the best for him.

Literally what’s wrong with America is that we favor people who have been given shit their whole lives and not care about people who struggle immensely throughout their life coming from a a sibling of two, grew up with a single psychotic mom ( still love her), and barely enough money I had to do illegal shit to get me through. I was so use to doing illegal shit to get by that it felt like it was just life. My mental health was also down the drain cause I knew the shit I did was wrong but I couldn’t stop and my problems were so overwhelming. I got arrested at 16 and was made to feel like shit by a lot of authority. The only way to learn and recover is to recoup and have support and love not putting struggling minds into prisons instead we should send people who steal, do drugs, etc in rehab and therapy. (Killing and raping is not acceptable and to me based off of severity should get death sentences)
