one of the best songs ever for me
I lived in Seattle in the 80s and 90s and it was so incredible. Walking downtown and seeing so many talented musicians! Paying $10 to see the great bands, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Soundgarden, and my fav name for group which i still have a street sign of The Butthole Surfers. lol
Beautiful comment, I would love to hear stories
Lucky bastard
“They killed everything happy in the world, replacing it with *grunge*” Thus making it undeniably better in every way, shape and form

It's because the album is called "Jar of Flies".
Correct. God they are retarded hahaha ....
Haha!! Ya, those flies are sooo darn mysterious, yeah?! Crisake, did they even LOOK before thrilling us with their stupendous "interpretation" sheesh.
Can NOT believe they knew sooo little. Obviously not AIC fans. I was 15 when this song and album came out. I just turned 40 on Tuesday. Can't believe it's been 25 years guys!!!!☹☹☹
Hope you are all doing well 👍🏻
Grunge had also already taken over like 3 years previously to I Stay Away, so his other metaphor was just as lame lol no wonder vh1 became a shitty reality TV network lol
1:32 Shit, Jerry is a man of 100 faces. He can always look unrecognizable to me when it comes to his looks 😄
Man looks like someone in a old school biker gang lol, it’s glorious. Fuckin love Jerry.
This is from 2000, as the live album was released that year. Two years later, no more Layne. RIP.
a jar of flies can ruin a whole circus
This song is like the zenith of this band. It all came together on this tune ...beautiful yet mad all at once
Riki Rachtman's words of wisdom...
AIC's most underplayed song on St.Louis radio in the 90s! glad I had the cassette!!
The album the guy is holding at the end is the live album.
Lars named his son after Layne
wow really? that's nice
they never really knew layne, only the rest of aic, layne didnt like metallica cause they made fun of him on stage in a terribble way, lars is just a fucking piece of trash that is full of shit
They made fun of him because he signed on to tour with them and then he stiffed them. Layne would rather shoot horse than perform for his fans.
They knew Layne! Even were in the audience for unplugged!
I Staaay awaaayy in myyyy layne
Lane and MIke RIP ...Love your music Alice in Chains
One of the greatest songs to ever grace our ears.
I love jerry's mustache! I wish he kept it...
I don't give a shit about the music video the song is just badass
joe Costello I always thought that this song and video was a genius masterpiece of AIC.
I heard the entirity of Jar of Flies when I was depressed living alone in a small apartment in the city while my roommate was away. This entire ep is a trip, you feel alienated yet not alone with the music.
I agree w you. It’s like it depresses you and is dark…but at the same time it comforts you and makes you relate to what he says. Like he knows what you’re going through
Maybe we are just all insects and we’re waiting for someone to take the lid off the jar so we could be free
Profound
wow what a thoughtful interpretation. never herd of a metaphor like that before
Nostalgia ASF!
Great song and music video. Every album AIC has released is kick ass to me. Sad that Layne is no longer on this earth.
Wasn’t this song from the album Jar of Flies? Hence the flys in the music video. I could be wrong though.
You’re correct
Lmao yes.....Ricky sounds like a moron
This song keeps me sober
Chicken Run came out in 2000s
1:54 hahaha
My Dad pointed out how much Alice sound like Queensryche
I never noticed.
Not even close! If anything Soundgarden sounds more like Queensryche. Chris & Geoff's vocal ranges are very similar.
Jamie Hellfire dang, now I gotta go track that down💘
When the Alice in Chains circus pulls into Moralton.
RIKI!!
Which year was the countdown?
What year was this ??
MustObeyTheRules I think 2000 considering that's when the live album came out and also he said they had been on hiatus for 4 years. And their last concert was 1996
OMG this is a nightmare
Tell me what exactly it is that you were doing when you first heard this album. If you weren't driving a '70 Chevy pick up w no tags or insurance having just met the woman named Bert whom Waffle House Chili was named after and you weren't on 77 hits or even one hit ov acid and headed to the sunrise of N.E. Arkansas and 20 yrs later lived to tell about it to Jerry goddamn Cantrell's face with Big Val of Panteras road crew as his own personal security out behind the pageant in Stlouis after One of four acoustic shows known to man in 2008 the you can't speak w any authority whatsoever and go back n and crown THIS nigga king of YOUR AIC world no worries all is forgiven
Dude what are u talking about you lost me at bert
+hellraiser7874 your world must be really small then
what the fuck are you on ?? "that shiat"
hahaha awesome!!
lars is your clip for the vid..? really?...haha..but .yea..the real aic rocks still...
the way they described the video is totally comatose. the song is incredible in the first place, but they talk about the video in a way that makes them sound so naive and empty.
cringe
Grunge*
lol
