Don't worry about your tears, many have flown. Andre told that during the rehearsals it happened they had to start 3 times over. Musicians can not play with tears in their eyes. But they got perfectly tuned. She is simply enchanting and conquering the world. And that recording is made and composed by Andre's team including 23 cameramen, all absolutely professionally. .

Emma’s father said this on his Instagram about what it was like to watch Emma perform Voila:
“Can I describe how proud we are of Emma Kok when she can stand there on stage next to the great André Rieu and his Johan Strauss Orchestra! Let me try: Your nerves are running through your body, tears spontaneously spring from your eyes, the smile on your face doesn’t go away and you can see your heart pounding through your clothes. You lose 2 litres of fluid, grey hairs suddenly turn black again, and some even will fall out, you float above 12,000 people and you are just out of this world for a while, you sit next to your own body for a moment and see your little girl standing there and think, how is this possible that she’s doing this Now... well, that's kind of how it feels... Voilà!”

As some have already said, Emma has full command of the stage. Andre follows her. A
Few songs ahead starts well before the orchestra. She sang the first three notes here and they followed her. Over Christmas she sang White Christmas and sang the first half all on her own. When the orchestra came in half way through, she had been on pitch the entire time. I don’t know of many adult professionals that can do that. Another in one country she walks on stage, getting applause, she holds her finger to her mouth as to say shhhh. The audience quiets down and she starts singing again without any music. She is a one in a million vocalist.
    15:01
She is also very tiny. Due to her condition, she is now 16, but only the height of the average 7 year old. So now imagine all that power coming from a tony set of lungs. She is amazing. Thank you for the nice reaction video. Loved you both.

What a huge audience, something like 12,000 people for this performance, and she was beyond beautiful. Imagine, singing a song in a language you don't speak, the phonetic memorization you would have to do, and then present yourself to all these people and absolutely kill it. She draws you in, such a lovely, lovely person. She has my heart, and certainly my prayers, for the resolution of her physical issues, hopefully in the very near future. Once you do read the words to Voila`, it's easy to see why this was such a poignant performance for her. We are blessed by having this young lady in our life...I hope she feels the love and it aids her determination in going forward with her singing career.

Great reaction. I agree with almost everything you said. Emma is a phenomenal young vocal artist. She has only just begun to make her mark in this world, but make an indelible mark she will.
One point of slight contention: it was Emma who was in command of the stage and the orchestra. That is why Maestro Rieu had is eyes on her throughout the performance. He was conducting the orchestra to follow her lead. Notice that she began a cappella and performed an epic key change without reference to the orchestra at all. Emma is one to watch. Her talent and ability are off the charts.

Personally I think this is the greatest rendition of the song, the most emotional of them all, and Emma carried it all.
But it has absolutely nothing to do with her life. It's not a narration of her life, not even close. It IS however incredibly compelling, and one of my favorite performances of all time, but don't sell it as a narration of her life.,

Love both of you! It was the orchestra that was following Emma. If you notice the conductor, André Reiu allows Emma to start before he instructs the orchestra to start playing. It was said this was one of the most difficult songs ever for them to rehearse. Difficult because Emma’s singing was so emotive, not because of the musical composition. I believe it was also said this performance was the first time they were able to make it to the end without stopping and weeping.

Welcome to the world of Emma Kok, and you are going to enjoy a lot more over time, that performance in July 2023 was Emma's first ever appearance with Andre on his stage in Maastricht, set up every year in the main town square of his home town, it was the first of the 2023 series which ran to 12 concerts over the month of July, and this was the first ever performance of this version of Voila, which Andre and his team created for Emma, it's a song from Eurovision 2021, sung originally by Barbara Pravi, and it came second in the competition. Emma learnt it (phonetically, she doesn't speak French) because the words have deep meaning for her, she was born with the disease as Andre mentioned, and at 9 MONTHS, she had to be put on to tube feeding to keep her alive, and she's been on that regime since then, 22 hours a day, a huge restriction on so many aspects of her life, it's slowed her growth, and impacted her stamina, there are times when for even walking longer distances, she has to have the help of a wheelchair, but she is determined to achieve her goals, she will not let her disease define her life.
Andre invited her into the studio to meet him after she won Ministars, singing her original version of Voila, it's very different to the version she's singing with Andre.
Ministars, singing to Barbara Pravi video, the look on her face at the end is priceless, she absolutely nailed it.
    ruclips.net/video/rOKVK4o-vf4/видео.html
Before that, she won the Voice Kids competition in 2021, and the video of her progression to winning shows so clearly just how much her growth has been delayed by gastroparesis, she's tiny when compared to her competitiors.
    ruclips.net/video/20gXikNRjbo/видео.html
Emma has the ability to have a powerful effect on people, she truly is very special, and she very much did indeed dominate the stage, the orchestra and the audience, she was the one leading the entire performance, Andre is notionally leading, but he's watching Emma and taking his timing and cues from her, several times she leads off with no guidance note, and changes key in the same way, that's a rare ability, and at the end, as she punched the air in triumph, that cheeky smile said it all, she knew she'd just delivered the performance of her life, and so did Andre, she was booked for 12 concerts, and after this first night, she was invited by Andre to perform 2 concerts in Malta, to be a part of his Christmas concerts and then become a guest star in his world tour for 2024, a series of 75 concerts literally around the world.
In the time since this first video, Emma has gone from strength to strength, she did an amazing series of songs in September 2023 for a special event, the liberation concert to remember the 8000 Americans who gave their lives to liberate Holland in WWII, in an interview she said she was 'honoured' to be asked to participate, and she gave one of her most powerful performances in the first song 'Father', a Demi Levato cover, it's notabe for how she starts so soft and gentle, and then in the middle, she goes into absolute belter mode, and in the process destroys the sound engineer behind her, the emotion and power of her performance breaks him, several times.

You Raise me up, duet with Nico Wouterse, notable for the closing line by Emma, 'I will tell them, for as long as I can'
    ruclips.net/video/baH0JQsLo3c/видео.html
This was another deeply moving song, made more poignant by Emma's closing words, before they left the stage to a standing ovation, Emma's words were a recognition from her of the recognition of her vulnerability, she is very much aware of the risk of her life being shortened by the awful implications of gastroparesis, there have been a significant number of suicides among sufferers of this disease because of the huge problems that are faced on a daily basis as a result of the disease.
Emma seems to have been able to come to terms with the problems of living with the disease, but it was clear from a deeply moving song she sang a few months earlier that she's very much aware of the problems she faces, a young friend, Angela, died as a result of gastroparesis, and Emma recorded a song to remember her, and it's notable for the closing words, she's engaged in an imaginary conversation with her friend, and asks her about what's happening where she is, and the ending line is so sad, 'Yeah, I know, you'll tell me when I get there'.
When I Get There - @PinkVideoVault Unaccompanied short, very powerful, a song about the passing of a very close friend, given Emma's own situation, so incredibly deep and moving, just incredible. Translation of the note that Emma put into the notes about the video, the original is in Dutch, Last night my dear friend Angela became a star! 💗 I'm going to miss you incredibly much, but every time I look at the starry sky I know you're looking back 💗
    ruclips.net/video/0nIpN86mw6E/видео.html
A Memorial song for Angela also, Laat Mij Een Vlinder Zijn 13 May 2023 a video short,
    ruclips.net/video/k-ZtoS0E1B8/видео.html
'Today I had the opportunity to sing at the farewell of my dear friend Angela 💘 Angela always wanted to go viral with her tiktoks, she wanted to be popiejopie! Let's make this happen, share this message as much as possible so that Angela goes viral and she can really be popie from above ♥🙏🏻'
This song was Emma's first single Let me be a butterfly, ,and in it, she's singing about her desperate desire to be free of the restrictions and limitations that are part of her every day experience, she wants to be able to live a different life, she wants to become like the chrysalis emerging from the cocoon in which it's undergone huge change, and soar into the heavens as the newly emerged butterfly that's the end result, she wants to soar into the heavens, free. In the studio version,
    ruclips.net/video/Zcxan9R5s4E/видео.html
there's a section from 2:02 to 2:35 where she sings 'If only for a day, or even for a count of 10, I'd just like to live as another', and as she sings it, her eyes close, she gently shakes her head, and then her head goes down, and she falls silent, and it's clear that she's considering her situation, and having to come to terms with the reality that for now, there can be no change, no freedom from the pressures and limitations of being tied to her feeding pumps for 22 hours a day, but then, having looked at all of the situation she's in, she determines that she is not going to let her illness define her life, she is going to fight every inch of the way, and rise above the disease, and as she does so, her head comes up, and she starts to sing again, she rises to a new top note, she makes it clear that she is going to take this disease and find ways to overcome it, and to rise like the butterfly of that song, and of course, that's exactly what happened on the first night she sang on Andre's stage in Maastricht, physically, she walked out onto the stage, but mentally, she became the butterfly, she soared over the stage, the orchestra, and the audience, she dominated the entire area, she was in command of her own life, and in command of everything around her, and that performance of Voila was the start of the New Emma rising into the heavens as a new star.
There's also been several versions of the Leonard Cohen song, Hallelujah'.
The first is a traditional version, she sings with the Maastricht Star, Male voice choir, and it's a strong performance, Emma Kok en de Mastreechter Staar Hallelujah, 2 years ago, so she was only 14 when she sang this
    ruclips.net/video/o3uskk3objU/видео.html
In Christmas 2023, she did a TV Christmas version for a Dutch TV channel MAX TV performance, very powerful and yet so gentle in the start, full orchestra
    ruclips.net/video/9qVHQuPQud0/видео.html
A few days later, she did a studio performance of a shorter version of the one she's done a few days earlier, but with only a piano for accompaniment, and this was a very strong performance,
    ruclips.net/video/ma01DXvF5Vk/видео.html
In recent days, to confirm just how much she is now being recognised in Holland, she was a key performer at the Amsterdam Liberation concert, attended by the Dutch Royal family, she did a very powerful duet with April Darby, 'When you believe'
    ruclips.net/video/YG8WV1GFt_c/видео.html
Before I close with my normal appeal to all the readers and subscribers to this site,
Emma's foundation can be found at gastrostars.nl
If at all possible, please join me in making a (regular) donation to her foundation, to enable them to help patients like Emma, and research this awful disease, and hopefully find a cure.
At the moment, they are a small group, and one of their main people is a surgeon who has a lot of experience in dealing with gastroparesis, and she is not only a surgeon, but also suffers from the same disease herself, to the extent that as a result of her condition worsening, she's had to leave her role in the hospital, and she is now dedicated to the foundation, and working to help find possible new treatments, or even better the cure that will free people like Emma to live a more normal life, rather than be tied to the feeding pumps for so many hours every day.
It would be wonderful news to hear that they have been able to change the outlook for Emma and others, it would be tragic if Emma were unable to continue to sing like she does, while she looks stunning on stage, her stamina is not good, so it is a very delicate balance to maintain her health, it would be so good to hear that the situation has been changed by the work the foundation are doing, Emma would then be free to spend more time doing what she loves so dearly.

This young person is music, is art in perfection!
Starting several times one bar before the orchestra alone proves a somnambulistic security in what they do.
She demonstrates incredible hearing and incredible tone stability. Her sensational holding of the notes, ending every word - not a wrong beat. Not a wrong note.
Her incredible swinging between her belly and head voice, her completely natural vibrato, her oscillation between delicate breath and powerful vocal volume.
"Ne partez pas, j'vous en supplie restez longtemps" - this heavenly and angelic fragility!
Her beat and tempo, her unearthly jump a semitone higher without orchestral help.
Her completely natural singing of Chancon's typical chant, only to unpack an unearthly vocal volume moments later.
And above all - her absolutely professional interaction with the audience and the orchestra, her phenomenal stage presence. the whole time she is talking to the audience - at 15 years old!!!! Many 50-year-olds can't do that.
This girl is a new Edith Piaf. But not the dark, black, hopeless and pain-tormented Piaf - but a fun-loving, thirsty and incredibly strong young artist.
In my opinion, Emma has lifted the French chancon into a new sphere. This girl doesn't sing music - she IS music.
And if there is a god - with Emma he has created a work of perfection! From the first note it leads the master, the orchestra and the audience. I've never experienced
anything like that. And especially not from someone so young.
That brief smile from the blond short-haired female violinist behind her sums it all up in a heartbeat.

Andre Rieu is arguably our biggest international artist/music export, he and his amazing Johan Strauss Orchestra travel the world and even visit smaller towns and countries where normally this type of music never would travel, he's a musical ambassador, violinist (a really good one), and Orchestral conductor, he's the boss.
And something that sets him apart from other conductors is his ability to understand what his (guest) vocalists need to shine brightly.
In case with Emma, you asked this actually... who leads who, orchestra or singer? in this case.. Andre conducts his Orchestra to follow HER lead, she is in charge in that song.
And ofc he and his Orchestra, with all the experience they have, can do that in a very natural manner, which in turn creates this level of perfection that they have.
They are currently touring the world again, and this time he took little Emma with him, and she has been performing this song many a time by now, if they come near your location... i'd say that you have to try and get tickets, it will be a show you'll remember for life, possibly the best you've ever experienced. (not even half joking here)

You need the English translation to appreciate its significance to Emma. Two more songs that also express her experience are: Strijder (Warrior), the official recording, but with English lyrics, and Butterfly (the music festival recording), again the recording with English lyrics. Also Andre's recording of his live Christmas concert when Emma sang "All I Want For Christmas." In Athens she got at least three curtain calls following Voila, by the enthusiastic crowd. Currently on a world tour with Andre, her mother accompanies her to supervise the medical equipment. Emma is tubed up 22 hours a day and makes the most of her two hours of total freedom.

A small party yes; it was in Athens when they were performing there. Emma had just arrived in Athens from Abu Dhabi, travelling with her father. As a surprise, Andre Rieu had arranged for Emma's mother to travel to Athens with her brother Enzo with his girlfriend, sister Sophie with her boyfriend, and several of Emma's friends, some of whom were also sufferers from Gastroparesis. They also had another party when they got home that Pierre Rieu attended. He presented Emma with a large 'Disney Style' painting of a 'princess Emma' in her 'Voila' dress and 'Little Andre' playing violin in front of his castle home.
All Emma's friends and family were at Emma's concert in Athens on her birthday, and the whole 13000+ crowd sang happy birthday to her in English and then a Greek version. Its at the beginning of this YT video. At time stamp 0:37 you can see her father on the big screen filming the event on his phone with some of her friends nearby.

"Voilà" is a French song (Chanson Français) and they have always a deeply emotional content in it. The thing is: Emma (as most people in the audience) does not speak French: she learned this song phonetic and with help from a French woman to get the pronounciation right. When you read the English translation of "Voilà" you will understand why Emma performed it the way she did: the song could be written for her.... The orginal singer of the song, Barbara Pavris, has complimented Emma with this cover after she saw it. And André Rieu? Well Emma is on World tour with his orchestra this entire year, so that tells it all. Emma is performing for thousands of people in many countries and she is experiencing what it is to be an international singer. Her mother is always nearby: Emma is in need for extra care and support because she is hooked on feeding tubes 22 hours per day, every day..... Even to think about that makes me feel sad.

Yes for this song Emma has the lead and the orchestra had to follow her you can see that. What you maybe don't know is that he is a good friend from de familie Kok and he is also the protege from Emma
With her parents he has arranged that Emma could go with him on his world tour and that is wat is happening now She has already played in several contries He had also arranged that Emma did not had to follow her school she get her lessons via een worldwide school where she gets her lessons So all of them are very happy now. Lyrics in English
    [Verse 1]
    Listen to me
    To me, a sort-of singer
    Mention me
To your loves, to your friends
Tell them about that dark-eyed girl
    And of her wild dream
That I want to write of fantasies
That will reach out to you
    That is all

    [Chorus]
There it is, there it is, there it is
    That is who I am
    Here I am even though
Lain bare, I am fearful, yes
Here I am amongst the row
    And amidst the silence
    [Verse 2]
    Look upon me,
Or at least what remains of me
    Look upon me,
    Until I detest myself
What can I say to you, that the lips of another
    Will not tell you
It isn't much, but it's all I have
    I'll lay it down here
    Like so
    [Chorus]
There it is, there it is, there it is
    That is who I am
    Here I am even though
    Being lain bare is over
It's from my mouth, it's my outcry
Here I am, it doesn't matter
Here I am, it's me, this is me
    I am right here
    Me, my dream, my longing
How I am dying, how I laugh
Here I am amongst the row
    And amidst the silence
    [Verse 3]
    Do not depart
I beg you to stay on for a while
It may not rescue me, no
But to go on without you, I know not how
Love me as you'd love a friend
    Who is going away forever
I want to be loved, because I don't know
    To respect my boundaries
    [Chorus]
There it is, there it is, there it is
    That is who I am
    Here I am even though
    Lain bare, I understood
Here I am amongst the row
And amidst the wrath as well
    I mean, look at me
And at my eyes and my hands
    Everything I have is here
It's from my mouth, it's my outcry
There it is, there it is, there it is
    There it is,
    There it is,
    There it is,
    There it is
    [Vocalizations]

    [Chorus]
There it is, there it is, there it is
    That is who I am
    Here I am even though
    Being lain bare is over
It's from my mouth, it's my outcry
Here I am, it no longer matters

    [Vocalizations]
    Powerful stuff ❤❤

Listen to me, me, the singer-to-be
Tell your lovers, your friends about me
Tell them about this girl with the black eyes and the crazy dream.
What I want is to write stories that will reach you.
    That's all
Voilà, voilà, voilà, that's who I am.
This is me, even when I lie open I'm afraid, yes
This is me in the noise and in the silence
Look at me, or at least what's left of me
Look at me before I hate myself
What shall I tell you that another's lips will not tell you?
It's little, but it's all I have; I put it there.
    That's it
Voilà, voilà, voilà, this is who I am
This is me me, even if I lie open, it is finished
This is my face, this is my scream, this is who I am
Voilà, voilà, voilà, it's right here
Me, my dream, my desire, how I go to ruin, how I laugh at it
That's me in the noise and in the silence.
Don't go, I beg you, stay for a long time.
It may not save me, no
But to live without you, I don't know how to do it.
Love me like you love a friend who's going away forever
I want people to love me because I can't like my outline
Voilà, voilà, voilà, this is who I am
This is me, even when I lie open, it's over
This is me in the noise and also in the rage
Look at me, and in the end also my eyes and my hands
All I have is here, it's my face, it's my screaming

There is something in common between her & another hard working singer finally getting her break (Loren Allred) that is a very good vocal coach @CherylPorter who is a great singer, charismatic fun lady herself. So you can see how in both cases she has taken these singers to go from good singer of which there are many to story singing using dynamic variation so the song is not predictable but rather is emotionally resonant emphasising when to pure Tone & when to vibrato, slide, cries etc. In both cases you see the result. Some discover but most are guided by talented vocal coaches helping them strengthen their weaker areas. But like a PT except this is a voice trainer.

Emma chooses songs that she has a connection with. Her condition requires her to be connected to two small pumps 22 hours a day, one tube goes to her stomach and the other to her intestine. Her condition also affects her growth rate, she is much more petite than other 15 year-olds. When she was younger she could not carry the pumps around in school so she used a child-sized walker to hold them. Other children teased her, calling her "gnome" and "grandma". She still gets teased, I believe she stopped going to public school.
VOILA, by Barbara Pravi from France, was written for the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 (it placed second). The song is about vulnerability, strength, and self-acceptance, saying "This is me. Here I am. Accept me for what I am, voilà. Emma does not speak French, she had someone teach her the song phonetically.

Good comments. 👍 Fortunately, I believe that the bullying was mostly in primary school and in senior school was less of a problem. Nevertheless, because Emma is on a world tour with the orchestra, Andre Rieu's wife Marjorie, in coordination with Emma's parents, organised for Emma to join 'The World School' which enables students to study remotely with contact with tutors and coaches as necessary. One of the other young violinists, Serena van Heuverswijn' also studies this way so Emma has a study companion. Emma is in a safe place now. ♥
