Hello. You did a really wonderful reaction... about an outstanding performance. Amira Willighagen was 10 years old at the time of this concert in Maastricht, in july 2014. She sang an aria from the opera Gianni Schicchi by Puccini. But when she auditioned for the very first time on Holland's got talent, nine months before this, she had no vocal lessons at all. She actualy learned to sing opera by watching You Tube videos and imitating Maria Callas and Andrea Bocelli...It's quite difficult to pick one of her numerous wonderful performances, but her rendition of Ave Maria by William Gomez in Nijmegen, when she was 11, is maybe her masterpiece, with a very high technical level. Now she's 20, lives in South Africa, and sings better and better...
Great reaction! Subscribed. Amira is a different kind of soprano. She chose to use her authentic voice, rather than the artificial voice adopted by most classical singers. Amira has also chosen to always sing beautifully and pleasantly, without projecting annoying noises. She chose to always express authentic emotion, rather than making artificial facial expressions. And she can do whatever she wants with her voice. Amira sings genres other than classical, which for her is like cutting butter with a hot knife.
I think lately she has often a more artificial smile after her singing, she shouldn't do that, but in a world like this, she is pressed in it. As a child she didn't do that, children are not like that and olders shouldnt do that either.
About three quarters of a year earlier, she sang the same song at her audition for "Holland's Got Talent". The jury sat there with their mouths open and couldn't believe that she hadn't had any lessons until then. She had only taught herself to sing by watching RUclips videos.
But what she performed here together with Andre Rieu was two classes better than her previous performance. Andre had done a master class with her for a few days. At this concert, he observes Amira closely and adapts his conducting to her. Unlike other conductors, Amira doesn't have to adapt to the orchestra, but the orchestra adapts to her singing. I have the utmost respect, not only for Amira's performance, which was phenomenal, but also for Andre Rieu's performance.
He gave her the lessons for free. He really gets behind young talent.
She did a cd for Sony I think 3 moths before this concert.
She took part in, and won, Hollands got talent, at the end of 2013. She was 9 then and entirely self taught. Andre saw her and invited her to sing with his Orchestra. That concert was called Love in Venice, hence the set is dressed to look Italian. By then Amira was 10.
Since then she has sung around the world, when schooling would allow, she now lives in South Africa, and is studying music at university. She had her 20th birthday on Wednesday.
She is still an exceptional singer, I'm not into opera , but I will listen to Amira all day. She also sings music from films, shows, and inspirational pieces. One often gets a moist eye listening to her sing.
She sings in any language, including Spanish ( Ave Maria Gomez from 2015, or the very recent release Down from his glory)

There is so much to check out for Amira. Her Hollands Got Talent where she sings the same sing. She is at that point self taught... as stated un the Hollands Got Tallent audition. You can check anything from her and you'll never be disappointed.
Amira and Andre are both Dutch. This performance was in his home base in Holland in front of an audience of 10,000. This concert took place in July, 2014 and she had turned 10 on March 27 of the same year. She is currently one of the top ranked sopranos in the world. She lives in South Africa. She is an Olympic grade long distance cross country runner, a delegate to the World Peace Club, and a charitable person who donates on half of her income to build playgrounds at schools for poor children in South Africa. She has completed 19 of those so far. She finished high school first in her class and is currently in a university studying music.

This was in 2013 and 10 years later Andre introduced the 15 year old Emma Kok to the audience in this same venue singing Voila . It is worth watching that performance.

There are no copyright restrictions, but do include the intro. She also sung Strijder (Warrior), on a different video, which, when you learn more about her, will see she truly is!
Just subscribed. Andre Rieu often showcases new young talent and brings them on tour. Anyone whose never attended one of his concerts has missed something truly special. Classical and movie themes sprinkled with light humor, one of the most entertaining concerts I've ever attended. Amira is now 20 and as you might expect, a dazzling talent.

I know at one time, perhaps she still does, she studies the words and meaning of a song before she start to sing it. That accounts for the emotion she puts into it.
Ladies, she was 10 years old performing this and that was after she won a Golden Ticket in Holland s got Talent where she told the jury that she learned herself to sing by listening to You Tube. For me she is a prodigy.

Amera and Alma Deutscher are friends and have performed together. When Alma was 10 and Amera was 11, they spent the night together in Alma's tree house and then did a fund raiser for medical research. They did an add-on and sang a song from Alma's opera Cinderella. This was the first time that song was performed in public. The duet of the stepsisters. After the performance thay went outside the church and climbed the trees in the courtyard intill told to get down. The guy who told me that story was there. He said that they were "full of fun and mischief"

This is the Oprah that is considered to be Alma's masterpiece. She started to be called a master classical composer after this premiered when she was 11. She played the piano, organ, violin, and sang in the choir in the premiere of her opera.⁶

Amira is fabulous. I’m 76 and I find myself crying and laughing all at the same time. She affects me that way every time. Amira makes everything she does a jaw dropping experience. I think she could even make the “hambone” song sound like a beautiful Aria🤣.

Amira's not just a singer, she's an actress. She studies and understands the context of everything she sings, so she is able to 'inhabit' the song. It's a rare talent - and one which Callas had - that produces the powerful emotion that affects most people in her audience.
This was about 10 years ago. She won Holland got talent at the age of nine. Andre, were you heard of her and did a master class with her and a little voice coaching before he had her sing at his venue. She’s 19 now. She went on to study in a private school in South Africa and there are a lot of recordings that she has done and concerts that she has done and all the money that she has earned she has donated to the welfare of under advantage, children in South Africa. She is truly a prodigy. She was self taught to sing opera as a child when she was homeschooled by listening to RUclips.
At that time she was only nine years old a little miracle to me :)

Fantastic reaction! - she just came out of NOTHING, the mystic deepest ground with the highest potential. The family is musical only as amateurs, playing some instruments, but Amira is the singer out of nowhere: mostly she learned to sing by watching opera on RUclips videos(!), innocent imitation learning... some advice and education only after winning the Dutch talent competition...(below!)
