- Get rid of the patches - Bern should be the main city obviously. And keep it's name! - Speed limit by the bridge is under 60km/h ! - Don't change to imperial system. It's just unlogic. Alps are in Europe.
This is absolutely gorgeous. I can't wait to see the cute little paddle steamers in action. Quite possibly a cost-effective way to connect many towns early on, make them grow, and even make some money! Plus the fact that all the passenger boats in the game are Swiss lake boats makes it all the more fitting.
took a break from the train and transport games, came back to watch this and in less than 5 minutes you brought up smoothing. glad nothing has changed.
I have had a chance to play this map. I set a goal to use as few tunnels as possible. I ended upwith a huge circular line. One half was smooth and down low, and the other was full of gradings and twists and turns leading up and over an entire canyon, stopping at each town along the way. I was eventually running Alco PA/PBs for my passenger services when my computer ran out of RAM. since then I have been yearning for someone to play this so I can enjoy it fully, and here you are Colonel! I'm so excited. I would challenge you to try and follow the terrain with as few tunnels like I did. It made the game very scenic and amazing to look at. I wish you good luck. Sorry for the long comment! This is going to be so great!!!
Oh Colonel Failure, you shouldn't have done this. At the end of the Atlantic Map I felt joy and satisfaction.. Now I have to cry, because this is the most epic follow-up-season I could have ever wished for. No need to work on my Thesis, this is more important! *bulldozes the thesis-work off his desk* There we gooo!
I am hooked already this is going to be your best TF project to date and loving you are hitting the mods so much. beautiful map great episode thanks Colonel.
3 quick comments/suggestions: 1) I wouldn't mind if you stick with kilometers. The switching thing was a good theme for the last series, but fits less well here. Those of us cursed with the Imperial system only need remember that 25km is roughly 15 miles. 2) Try using "pioneers": since routes only start working after a vehicle makes the entire journey, only put one vehicle on each rout until it has started working. A bit more work for you, but it saves the operating costs of a lot of useless vehicles. 3) Leave the scars. I understand the temptation to change the landscaping when you move a road or rails, but ... I grew up in an area where the roads had been moved around, and the signs of it were everywhere. There were places that had obviously been roads that were now overgrown with trees, there were bits of road that ended abruptly where a new embankment cut across their path, there were places where a road passed between two abutments holding back a hill that had obviously been the footings of a railroad bridge that was no longer there. There were hills with notches in them where road or rail used to pass through, but the road or rail had been removed decades ago. Don't think of them as blemishes on the landscape, think of them as evidence that your system is improving. :) (Is it possible to downgrade track all the way to ballast without destroying it? Because at some point you are going to discontinue use of a tunnel, and it would be nice (and realistic) if you could leave it there.)
Nice choice of map, I've been checking this one too and want to give it a try. Some of the cities are quite close to each other, should be quite easy to get them grow together. Slowing the time 4x is a nice decision too, but it'll come with a cost. Also income will be 4x smaller, but on the other hand trains will have more time to do the journey between stations. Good luck!
I can already tell that I will adore this series, so I can't wait, a wonderful video and a wonderful map. Thank you for doing 'The RUclipss' and, goodbye, until next time!
You loaded the ground paint brush mod wrong! The spots on the mountains (0:38) are because of said mod. when loading the map for the fist time, you disable said mod. then re-enable it when loading the map. I've been doing what you have done for a while before wondering if this was a know issue, and it was right there on the steam page :P
It's funny how in transport fever you say the first thing you do if find a big city and build a passenger line but where I live it was almost the exact opposite, with the first rail line being built 70km away from the capital
Looking good sir. Remember that all that cash is safe in the Alps. Colonel Ebenezer's series. Come a long way since that start in NA and Europe. Hahaha
The agriculture field random appears if you put the texture mod active when you generate a new game. You need to add it to a saved game. Name of the mod: Brush Ground - Pinceau pour sol. i had the same problem...The creator of the mod told how to make it work without having those randoms generated agricultural field
Great video but the music in the background isn't a good addition, isn't as relaxing as the last series with the music. Glad you're doing this map though, amazing map!
One thing that I always difficult to find on the Steam site is your list of Mods, can you post the link in the top of the vids for this series. think Ill be playing this map next.... cheers
Excellent first video Colonel, entertaining as always. As long as you do not stick freight wagons behind the Flying Scotsman I will continue to watch. BTW someone actually did this in a transport fever play through could not watch anymore.
Aww, a smige diappointed it's not the Europe Campaign. Though I imagine you would just blow all of them out the water with your skills. Would have been interesting to see you tackle that one island hopper mission though.
ah ok and also how did you get rid of the farms on the mountains. looked weird with it and i took all the texture mods out :/, nah it was the name of them map that was used, i was being over eager and well reckless and not looking hahaha.
remove the brush tool to remove that field bug on hills had that problem last night it was only when i removed that that it fixed the hills. it will make it look alot nicer
Colonel can you make a zig zag train line that goes over a few mountains and use a small train on there purely as a tour instead of faster travel you know like they have at some places a train that shows you nature and such would be pretty cool to see.
did you clean up the map? I found this series at a later episode.. and the snowy peaks weren't patchy like this. I'm excited to dive into some binge TF/RUclips, but like this I'd likely flip back to the Italian Lakes mod map (similar feel). If this is something you can share.. would love to play along with this series.
i think you made a mistake while generating it! You had the brush mod installed so on your mountains is some water brush ^^ you should activate the brush mod AFTER generating
to remove those pesky fields you have to load the map without the mod "paint brush" i think it is called... and then after the map is loaded you can save, go out in the menu and load the mod again and it will be all fine!
Hey colonel after this one. Try out Real USA mod map. Or onion jacks own "realistic North Atlantic" Or that one megasized map that's supposedly 4 times larger than regular transport fever maps
I mean like inter town trains. In most Cities circles are common as they maximise efficiency but on the national route network lines are far more common, thats what I mean.
drlampost I agree.. I would like to see trams and bus routes for town routes. Branch lines to other towns yes, but not intercity unless there is an underground / subway mod...
Colonel 150 franks for you to make luzern/lucern the main train hub by episode 12, Kind Regards from Private Althaus stationd in Adermatt from Kanton Luzern 50 franks extra to use the Ae 6/6 for your main route
Go buy Transport Fever - TpF - from the steam store. It might be your kind of game. Don't buy Train Fever - TF -, by mistake as that was the first game of this series. Unless you want both. TpF has a lot more and plays better.
I had all those sporadic farm fields pop up on my own maps...got upset LoL. Well it turns out it was some mod I loaded that caused those game texture files to mess-up. I would up removing several texture mods, then having to uninstall and reinstall the darn game to get the default landscape texture files reloaded. Anyway not sure if that is the effect you are looking for, but the snow mod will not do that to the mountain sides or rock areas...sooo it looks like a bad mod that has messed one of those texture files.
Why are there patches on the mountains!? Get rid of the mod that put farm lands randomly everywhere... I've never seen that mod xD Great map otherwise!!!
I downloaded the N A Map and flat is an understatement I got bored out of my mind and quit it. Do mountains for the win! and I humbly eat crow cause you started this right away. another plug for Cities Skylines.. Another words your going to be cutting all the play out and doing Highlights of What you think is great, I'm a gamer and for me that means the end of this for me.. I will watch the next one, but if your cutting out most of the play, needed to acquire said end, i'll be very disappointed. its the playing of the game I love. and that's what I come to see.
- Get rid of the patches
- Bern should be the main city obviously. And keep it's name!
- Speed limit by the bridge is under 60km/h !
- Don't change to imperial system. It's just unlogic. Alps are in Europe.
Gallons!
Just wait until some big American diesels roll in to handle freight, then we'll talk.
DB Class 130. That is all :D
Colonel Failure you monster! Nice!
I look forward to curves and mountains combined with the game factoring in cargo weight.
took a break from the train and transport games, came back to watch this and in less than 5 minutes you brought up smoothing. glad nothing has changed.
Smoothing is life Brian.
14:00 I bet those people are thrilled to have a train station as a back yard:)
Yay for new series! I really enjoyed the North Atlantic map series, and this should be a blast to follow as well...
Watching this series again. A classic!
I have had a chance to play this map. I set a goal to use as few tunnels as possible. I ended upwith a huge circular line. Love the mountain scenery ... great video!
the posh horses are back
Oh Colonel Failure, you shouldn't have done this. At the end of the Atlantic Map I felt joy and satisfaction.. Now I have to cry, because this is the most epic follow-up-season I could have ever wished for. No need to work on my Thesis, this is more important! *bulldozes the thesis-work off his desk* There we gooo!
End goal: Bulldoze the Alps!
Perfect.
I am hooked already this is going to be your best TF project to date and loving you are hitting the mods so much.
beautiful map great episode thanks Colonel.
Don't you mean TpF? TF was the first game of this series.

Can't wait to see how the new cargo weight simulation goes with those mountain towns.
Oh this is going to be fun! LOL! I can't wait to see what you come up with on this one Colonel! Going to be some great design challenges ahead!
this will be awesome!!! D a scenic route around the mountains with a steam train would look amazing
LOVE IT!! Another Series and yet more of the same :)
Can't wait to see this series evolve as time goes by. Love your work Colonial :)
i got every mods from the workshop and will play that I am looking for new tricks n tips with this map
keep up the good work, Colonel
Nice choice of map, I've been checking this one too and want to give it a try. Some of the cities are quite close to each other, should be quite easy to get them grow together.

"Cost you an arm and a leg...." i understood that reference :D
NEW SERIES! NEW SERIES! NEW SERIES!
By the way, good call on the time mod. It makes games simply more long-lived.
I can already tell that I will adore this series, so I can't wait, a wonderful video and a wonderful map. Thank you for doing 'The RUclipss' and, goodbye, until next time!
I like to do the RUclipss.
Hey Col., great start to another great series!
It's fixed in the next episode.
It's funny how in transport fever you say the first thing you do if find a big city and build a passenger line but where I live it was almost the exact opposite, with the first rail line being built 70km away from the capital
Love these vids! And love your narrations!
Looking good sir. Remember that all that cash is safe in the Alps. Colonel Ebenezer's series. Come a long way since that start in NA and Europe. Hahaha
Interesting looking map Colonel, good choice sir and I hope the OCD masses don't give you too much grief for the impending mis-match of trains
You know they will :)
Well I am titilated, look at the little iron horse go! Let the bulldozing commence Sir!
I'm sure you realise, but with the Time Mod, the profits and costs scale equivalent. Cut time by a 1/4, so do profits and costs. :)
Absolutely, my hope is that I'll be able to expand fast enough so I can keep the game in the steam age for a good length of time however.
I speak from plenty of experience when I say that it works, and that it's definitely very different (in a good way).
colonel success, thanks for sharing
Very show, I really like this map
Colonel I love your passion.
Thanks Larry.
I have reached 2010 on this map, with the 4x slower mod, and I love this map, its challenging...
GizmoNETwork i agree
GizmoNETwork yep. The music is getting on my nerves 🙊
The people have spoken. Music will be replaced with something else...
Cowbells perhaps?
I would tend to disagree, but I like it, apart from the phone alarm sound-a-like though!
One thing that I always difficult to find on the Steam site is your list of Mods, can you post the link in the top of the vids for this series. think Ill be playing this map next.... cheers
No problem.
Have you though about having a mainline for far cities and short lines for near by cities. I use this network and it works a treat
I like it! Consider that a theme for this series.
Excellent first video Colonel, entertaining as always. As long as you do not stick freight wagons behind the Flying Scotsman I will continue to watch. BTW someone actually did this in a transport fever play through could not watch anymore.
I can't rule out that having been me... my puritan streak is lacking, but I shall endeavor not to break that cardinal rule in this series.
Lol
"turn around like a wrongun" flying over 85% of your viewers with that phrase. Although this aging aussie got it.
Keralis I'm looking at you...
Shame he stopped playing.
We all know how that ended... well "ended"
Natchop, Cernal will do a better overall job, less details yes, but better hopefully
Keralis did a pretty damn good job for a newb, though.
Typical him to just stop in the middle of something. Tone deaf to his subscribers. He went from 5m to 1,7m subscribers in like a year?
how many episodes will you upload by a week?
when youve finished the series you should give the save out to your subscribers and challenge them all to find the bold trailblazer
will you be sharing a Mod collection for the series?
Aww, a smige diappointed it's not the Europe Campaign. Though I imagine you would just blow all of them out the water with your skills. Would have been interesting to see you tackle that one island hopper mission though.
The Suisse town of BURN! :)
what seed have you used, always enjoy following the progress and attempting to optimize some of your work and see if i can do it better :D
I'm fairly certain I used "cnlfailure" as the seed. I know some others are replicating the series as well, maybe they can shed some light on it.
ah ok and also how did you get rid of the farms on the mountains. looked weird with it and i took all the texture mods out :/, nah it was the name of them map that was used, i was being over eager and well reckless and not looking hahaha.
remove the brush tool to remove that field bug on hills had that problem last night it was only when i removed that that it fixed the hills. it will make it look alot nicer
Colonel can you make a zig zag train line that goes over a few mountains and use a small train on there purely as a tour instead of faster travel you know like they have at some places a train that shows you nature and such would be pretty cool to see.
I...love...this...map
Maybe use busses for routes to towns in the mountains instead of trains? it'll be cheaper and probably more realistic
I'll definitely need some kind of plan for the mountain-bound cities.
Good stuff!
Also can you keep this first train line for the entire series, and never upgrade it for heritage reasons
I love doing this in transport fever
Do you have a link to the mod collection. I can't find it.
Express train 'cos there is no other like this!! LOL!!!
I wanna see Eddie Stobart lorries when you get there. Pity about last series.
I'll fish up the mod.
just jumping into the series.. excited about 4x speed mod.
now I'm into the North Atlantic Mod set. sweeeet
did you clean up the map? I found this series at a later episode.. and the snowy peaks weren't patchy like this. I'm excited to dive into some binge TF/RUclips, but like this I'd likely flip back to the Italian Lakes mod map (similar feel). If this is something you can share.. would love to play along with this series.
I cleaned up ahead of the second episode.
It's strange now getting farm spawns on other snowy maps as well. Can I ask what you did to fix this?
how did you get the industry button?
When Bold showed up, you could have went and turned the train around so it can pick him up presently instead of making him wait another 2 months. :)
This is a good point that I had not previously considered.
i think you made a mistake while generating it!
You had the brush mod installed so on your mountains is some water brush ^^ you should activate the brush mod AFTER generating
Great Video man is that background music in Transport Fever?
It's not.
OOH OOH OOH MODS MODS MODS :D
Download all the steamers
EXTREMELY EXACUTIVELY EXITED
i hate to give negative feedback but i prefurred your amazing content without background sound
I'll probably add some background sound to avoid it sounding quite as spartan as the last series, but it should be unobtrusive.
You had me at applopiat.
I had you way before that.
What is Locarno doing near Bern?
Just kinda hanging out.
Yah ... Jolly nice
Where do I find a mod list for this playthru?
Comment to log my re-watch :)
could you get train stations fro. the steam workshop
to remove those pesky fields you have to load the map without the mod "paint brush" i think it is called... and then after the map is loaded you can save, go out in the menu and load the mod again and it will be all fine!
Thank you.
No problem!
Hey colonel after this one. Try out Real USA mod map. Or onion jacks own "realistic North Atlantic" Or that one megasized map that's supposedly 4 times larger than regular transport fever maps
I'll be selecting something North American for the series after this one.
can you use as much swiss and german train the former the most fore the feel
I'll be using everything at my disposal. It'll be weird. It'll be intriguing.
Switchbacks here we come!
mod collection or list ??
Fairly sure Road Depots don't have running costs
GREAT!
I AGREE!
In this series try not to make circular train routes as they arent as realistic :)
Tell that to the circle line!
Colonel 150 franks for you to make luzern/lucern the main train hub by episode 12,
Kind Regards from Private Althaus stationd in Adermatt from Kanton Luzern 50 franks extra to use the Ae 6/6 for your main route
I can safely say that this is pretty unlikely, but I'll keep it on the to-do list.
I'd forgotten u had a fingerbowl
hey greetings from Switzerland
+Samuele Troisio Apologies in advance.
+Colonel Failure
you did a great job trying to pronounce it right :D
Hi my names dan and I particularly like steam trains, I want to know have I come to the right place.
2:02 ah it seems like I have
Go buy Transport Fever - TpF - from the steam store. It might be your kind of game. Don't buy Train Fever - TF -, by mistake as that was the first game of this series. Unless you want both. TpF has a lot more and plays better.
There's a plan ? lol
It's fluid, but there's always a plan.
The Cylons in Battle Star Galactic, had a plan and look how that turned out!
the next video will be titled "tidying up the mountains"
Hopp Schwiiz !!!
I've fixed it for the second episode.
>driving on the right in europe
no tunnels allowed!
it would be nice to remove this field adding mod because it tends to add fields on ridges and other places where fields dont belong
Why are there patches on the mountains!? Get rid of the mod that put farm lands randomly everywhere... I've never seen that mod xD
Great map otherwise!!!
I’ve got a cousin from fingerbowl.
Not cutting out the play so much as cutting some of the chaff to keep the quality up. See what you think as the series develops.
Slow speed, that means many double headed steam trains right?
Second thing, FIRE THE AMERICANS!
Blixten Mcsnabb
What did we do to you
RED COATS
Get a mod that will get rid of the farms
I italian and please call a train espresso alpino its vert important for me tanks colonel
Remind me when the time comes - not a problem.
So you can make it?
You should do a complete map of the u.s. I don't like the idea of just the alps (maybe featuring Mexico and Canada its ur choice)
ROFLMAO @ Fingerbowl
yay 100ts like, what have i won?
My unending respect and admiration.
thx
connect some towns together?
Absolutely.
cool show. kill the dreadful music tho lol. pleeeeeease!!
The people have spoken on that front, it won't be back.
why mph im alot better at under standing kph
