Your voice is so relaxing that you could read a microwave manual and put me to sleep...
I'll record that for you next week :) (Thanks!)
:D thanks, looking forward to it
Krucek agreed . He has a late night radio station voice
yeah I have to agree with that
Krucek podcast?
nothing better than playing transport fever and watching the colonel play it too. Currently trying a hard vanilla playthrough. it's hard. lol
Love this series. I get to hear my name mentioned so often.
You're the centre of the world right now Warren.
Really liking this game. What i have found that works for me, is i have Bulk trains deliver 1 engine 16 wagons, deliver 288 units of finished goods to a single town, then have smaller goods trains bring those finished goods to other towns 1 engine 4 tank cars 4 wagons. It has been keeping my farms and refineries working at 300+ production level.
Very nice.
Brendan Sullivan I struggle with 640+ hard to get it any higher. Stone-Brick Produktion for 2 town with more than 2k people.
,
Another great episode. Hiawatha looks excellent ;-)
i clicked this video and the first thing I notice is your voice. Your voice is almost identical to the narrator in Baldurs Gate. I'm extremly impressed!
Love you failure! I've been with you since around 900 and the content keeps getting better. So glad to see your sub count rising :)
And congrats on 7k
Cheers Matt. There will come a day when the sub-1000 club is definitely worth bragging about. Maybe 20-30 years from now...
Today on transport fever: the colonel replaces a bit of road he keeps deleting and replacing
Jake Carlson again and again and again xD three times is a charm, right?
PlayMoto I think it's closer to 5 but still, I'm betting he'll delete it and replace it another 5 times in the next episode or 2
I hate that road.
Your voice will take you places, my good man.
"A good solider never forgets their helmet" - Colonel Grammar Failure :p
That's spelling, not grammar. That said.... DAMN. Thank you, eagle-eyed viewer.
@Colonel: You could add a fuel tanker to the train from docks to Boston and also make ships going on the "Stone bulk" line stop at that docks so they would drop fuel there. Now they take fuel up the river, leave it there, and you Grain and Cow ship line take it back downstream to main docks. That, I think, is the reason why that line doesn`t transport enough raw food to the food factory. What do you think?
Kamil Krupiński i just think the ships are too slow for something like food. The trains are going to sit there for years waiting for a food shipment to come in.
The train should be named the Esoteric.:)
I've been playing the game since its release thanks to you. I don't know if this equation is helpful but its helped me to work out the mass an Engine can pull. mass= Power/(0.055*max speed of the engine). Then you divide that answer by the weight of the wagon or passenger cart its pulling. Its only a rough estimate because it doesn't take into account any gradient changes but its a good guide. I was building tiny trains until i worked out this and now i'm pulling cargo trains 16-30 wagons long.
Do you know if there's a difference between the tare weight of a wagon and its fully laden weight? Either way this is very helpful, thank you.
i dont believe so but not 100% sure. id imagine for simplicity reasons probably not but cant say for definite
0:51 A good soldier also doesn't call himself a solider.
*mutter*
Some DECENT memes here Colonel Failure you've earned a sub good sir
hi col. instead of modifying the line if you need a "waiting for cargo" vehicle to go, you can use reverse to make it go.
Good tip!
Don't know what the future holds for the Hiawatha, yet. If you put a couple of less cars on it would it accelerate faster and take advantage of its speed and the speed going up the steep stretch?
>you have Indianapolis and Independence
>you name a line IND
Smart
Hiawatha is a beauty!
Dude you make awesome vids I watched all of these
Thanks :)
Hey Colonel, you need to scrap those ship asap. make a line from the port and the edge of the map, reroute your hiawatha to that line with cargo cars (so it can pull the same amount as a boat) and stick a better train on the cargo to boston and Indianapolis. just my thoughts
Heretic! Ships are splendid... even if they're not particularly efficient. The next episode should restore your faith.
totally looks like the eliptic express from resident evil 0
What a lovely voice
26:00 i wish you would show the train from the sunlit side rather than just the shadowed side, it is a reflective silvery train after all, must look best in sunlight, no? =)
I think a train line in between the farm and the food factory is the solution for the food problem the boats do not deliver enough raw materials
I agree the boats are too slow. I have a pretty good food line going with train from farm to plant then trucks on distribution.
It's coming right up...
Maxim849 definitely!! boats are terrible in my opinion. I mean they are nice to look at but I've made waaaaaay more money using trains to transport. actually other than a passenger route and a few failed ship lines I don't use them, strictly aesthetic here as far as ships. they just don't make anything. maybe late late game 2300 or something dunno but not at this time frame
Hey Colonel, could you do a quick-and-dirty signal tutorial? I'm having a heck of a time figuring these things out.
This one is still accurate - ruclips.net/video/Hb5NviTqybo/видео.html
A Transport Fever tutorial is coming up soon(ish).
Colonel Failure Thanks, that helped, I knew it was a sort of block system, but I was having issues trying to get a diamond junction to behave :)
Just a little question will you invest in keeping a steam railway running between 2 little towns when all the trains are modernised because I like older trains as I think the smoke is cool and the sound of them just a thing I was wondering and if say you could get an A4 (mallard) on here (I don't think you can because that's a European train) but something like that would be quite cool and iconic :) also love your vids been watching your train fever seasons too :P
I don't have the expiration date mod (that stops trains becoming unavailable) enabled in this playthrough, so at least this time around I'll have to retire trains when they become too costly to continue to maintain.
Colonel Failure oh ok :) also keep up the good work I bought the game because of you and I don't regret it one bit :) so thankyou
Colonel Failure oh a little brainstorm if you bought the big boy when it is released and kept it running would that work?? If so that would be cool if not never mind :)
U could try making at least 1 of the boats on food only take sure it's not shipping anything else such as stone
Hi ,love the vids plse keep them coming,
Roller coaster and speed bumps still around. looks like the diamonds are going to require a technique to place them. Level crossings look like they need the same snipping of track as in Train Fever.
That little Alco diesel looks just right for a couple of box cars as a cheap route starter. Or is that not economical?
Ninety two years and the track is still only from Boston to Indi. So many routes to tweak and keep an eye on already. This is looking like a hands on maintenance nightmare looming.
There's a huge amount to do, but I'm enjoying the slower pace of the game. The Alco makes an appearance in the next episode.
That's a lot for where you are I spent 30 mil on a train that goes 100 mph and delivers around 90+ oil each run goes threw 2 wells makes me like 7 mil a year but I just started a very long strain for passengers already spent 40 on tracks and should finish today but will be spending a lot on it but when you have 300 mil who cares :)
BTW, there must be a method to calculate how many cars the locomotive can haul uphill - that`s why they give you power and tracking effort. But I`ve never been good at physics, co maybe someone could explain that.
someone made an attempt at a spreasheet with graphs in it... but basically its not a solid answer
for every loco and weight combination you will different speed acceleration curves, and varying with slopes... but I wish someone would make a builtin UI mod for that info
That would be great. In good ol` Railroad Tycoons there was something like that.
colonel I'm wondering how the fps compares with train fever and transport fever. is one more memory hungry than the other?
I'm still too early to say for sure, but so far it seems to have improved. It's at least as good as the late version of Train Fever.
I feel like the towns don't really "need" you as the player. I play safe and get my budget balanced by 1890 mostly on trucks and a ship. Is there a better way to play to get more fun? I focused on one town and the rest looked the same by 1930. Does the player really have much of an impact?
The player definitely has an impact. Check the size of your towns by population after 30-40 years - the ones you have been working with will be much larger than those you've neglected.
Your shipyard with Grains and all the other stuff is full with 280 max. That's why everything stopped.
380! I don't think I hit the cap, although I may be close, but the lack of pickup is definitely causing a downturn in production.
Why not trying to add Warren station to your stone bulk boat ont their way to Flint ? So they will deliver the fuel/construction directly to Warren instead of delivering it to Flint which is then delivering to Warren by your food bulk boat. Thus you will begin to deliver to warren/Boston/Indianapolis some juicy goods with your brand new twins trains
I like your videoes. Good job! Have the lag issues from train fever been fixed in transport fever?
They're "better" but I wouldn't say they were fixed entirely. It'll really depend on your PC.
I have a quite good PC - definitely up for the job. I reckon it was an optimization issue i train fever. Sadly it made the game unplayable late game, which is the reason I stopped playing the game. But I plan to buy Transport Fever. Looks like the fixed a lot of the annoying things about train fever and added lotsa new stuff.
I subbed because of your voice. Oh and I like this game but mainly your voice.
You have the voice of a narrator... :o
Col, I just got Transport Fever and it's giving me an error: Please try installing the latest drivers for your graphics card. (ogl_LoadFunctions failed) But my drivers are all up to date??
Hard to know exactly what your problem is unfortunately. What graphics card are you using?
idk what it is but i had a tech friend look and it should be working, I have tried everything me and my friend could think of. I'm refunding it for now, hopefully when it's more updated ill re-buy and see if it works at a later time
the actual Hiawatha was grey & orange - don't miss your chance to color this one properly!!!
Nearly 7K Subs mate
Pretty fantastic :)
grats on 7k subs
Thank you!
I use ingredients for grain and livestock routs
Nice. I think there's a good catch-all phrase out there, but ingredients is pretty good.
One too many carriages :( would be fine for look but the train just doesn't have enough power
Long time viewer of your vids, Just found out you can deliver cargo to passenger stop
LIES! Seriously? No way! Really?
Started a new game and now all my cargo is delievred to bus stops
Maybe you should create cities with lots of jobs and other cities with lots of shopping facilities, to create reasons for people to travel with your trainlines.
I think so too.
whats the difficulty ? is it hard?
Is that the ghost train in the thumbnail
17 million dollar train?
I hope it was a train of gold
They're only going to get more expensive...
Colonel Failure I will start missing the days of TrainFever where a train of 4 million was way too expensive and 1.4 M running costs were not worth it
You and me both.
I watched all the videos in this series in 2 days.. now I am just waiting and my life no longer has a meaning..
Say my name in your soft voice in the next video Colonel and that shall bring hope to my doomed soul
I will endeavour to restore a little meaning to your life...
If you get desperate I've 200 Train Fever videos playlisted :)
You are the blood in my veins.
All hail Colonel
Check Boston and Indy there's no crossover so your train uses one track.
That's okay for now, but you're right in that it will need to be fixed in the future.
dont let the trains wait for full it ruins the goods lines. happened to me. almost went bankrupt
I 2nd this, it ruined my Oil/fuel line.
I tend to manage them manually - queue them on wait until full for a while to give them a good shot at a decent load, then fire them off if the end of the queue is empty.
Could you create a kids "Failure is an option" Failwear please!
Added! Two varieties to play with - "Vivid" and "Goth Training".
You have a cool voice!
did you actually say that the cattle/beef run was a "bum steer"?
did you8 say it with a straight face?
I had a train autoreplace and it deleted all my wagons!? I checked if the wagons could go on the train and yes they could.
Is this a BUG?
ooooh snap ok. thanks
Still haven't figured the economics of this game as the price of the locomotives, rolling stock and maintenance are highly inflated. No company in the 1930's would have spent 16 million on one train. 16 million would have paid for 15 or 16 locomotives of the day.
I suspect its because inflation is simulated across the game - or at least it feels that way. So everything is based on a notion of modern-day costs - a passenger "ticket" that costs $50 in 1850, still costs $50 in 2100.
I think the costs are as high as they are because you don't really pay for much else. You don't pay for fuel / coal or electricity, (although you could argue that is part of the maintenance cost). I think the prices are set to provide difficulty primarily for late game, where your probably not building track anymore, and just maintaining or improving your routs.
What site does u stream on
Twitch - check the description.
Thanks colonel
Why is this game listed as traffic giant?
In this game i just can't seem to make any money from food services
It's definitely possible but you need to ensure you run it as efficiently as possible. Half empty services that take a long time to get from point A to B will struggle to make profit.
Anyone can tell me if he is using some kind of modded map generation, everything looks pretty sparse.
your passenger train only goes 150 because you bought passenger wagons top speed 150
What truckery is this?!
You sound like Severus Snape
rad
Word.
It'd be nice if the game's time-scale was more realistic. Normal speed.... 96hp 25mph train with 3 cars leaving a 160m station takes a few days to JUST leave the station.... really? Also, if you start the game in 1850.... how exactly can passengers pay $10,000 for a train ticket to the next city? It's a great game... and the industry is pretty cool.... but the time-scale and pricing is ridiculous.
That being said.... your videos are fun to watch and you do have a perfect narrator's voice.
I'd be perfectly happy to play the game that was "stuck" in one year. Town growth still happens, but you never get any new vehicles to choose from - forever 1960, for example.
No no, sorry that's not what I meant. I meant to say that the time is way too fast. On normal speed would it not be better if 1 game day = 1 real minute? Or something similar? I know game time needs to be faster of course... LOL I couldn't imagine myself playing this for 45 years just to get a new train. But if they could reduced the game time slightly so a train doesn't take 2 days just to leave the station.
hi members i just downloaded from steam game and start fun. But I am confused using of ram and cpu when I am playing. 16GB ram used and my core i5 is working 100% or a bit less.... wtf? game using ssd disk and I have gf970gtx
It does sound like your system is being over-tasked. You should have more than enough power to handle the game easily. Do you get the same thing running on a small map?
You sound like Slytherin
could you please read a poem and record it? you sound so wise...
He did it ! He just build the Trump train !
No other comments it shows me ,,,, first :) ??? Ahhhh second dam it hahaha
Almost!
FIRST
Charles Callens nope, 21min too late
Use timewarp jesus christ.
It's all about the journey, not the destination.
First?
