red is my favorite ts album, that being said i think all of your critiques are soooo valid and I'm actually quite surprised how much you're liking this considering that you're not into sad/acoustic
justice for Stay Stay Stay🥲 yeah, like almost everybody hates that song, but I like it, it's fun, cute and just makes me happy... I guess I know why people hate it, but I have only one skip one Red and it's not SSS. and the music...yeah, well I guess Red is a very unique album and as you said: it's all over the place. cause in the Red era she already started to dabble in pop music, but her label still wanted country from her, so they found like a compromise of both and for some people it just might not work. in the end, the fact that it was all over the place and the critics were saying that, so when Red wasn't that successful awards-wise, Taylor was like, alright, I guess that's what's wrong with it, so I am gonna make a completely sonically cohesive album, and so she went full pop and came out with 1989.
i think red era was pretty mixed up for taylor she was experimenting trying to move to pop but she had to make country music. after all after 1989 she found her pop sound
In my opinion, Red’s highs are high and the lows are some of the lowest. Some of her best songs are on Red, and the ones that aren’t the best really suck. But she was really exploring different sounds and trying to find her voice as an artist while still being confined to her management’s expectation for her to be a country superstar. It’s experimental, it sometimes falls flat, it’s miserable and magical.
this how i feel! some of her best songs of all time are on this (including my number 1 favorite) and then like all of my least favorites are also from red. so it makes it really hard to decide how i might rank this album among the others.
Many people dislike Stay Stay Stay. I personally love it, especially the original. In that version, as it progresses and she continues the "stay stay stay" chorus she gets progressively more desparate. It's definitely toxic and possessive. I also love the idea of throwing your phone at him, then him coming back in with a football helmet to protect himself going "Okay, let's talk." It's cute, but definitely different and not for everyone. You didn't like the original version, so you definitely won't like the TV ROFL
stay stay stay is such a good song imo and everyone disses on it. i think it’s childish but i think that makes it really fun to sing. but that’s just me. 13/10 video tho i love you videos🫶🫶
bro this is so true though because I cannot sit through a straight listen of "stay stay stay" BUT I will absolutely sing it word for word when I'm cooking or cleaning and have the absolute time of my life
i LOVE stay stay stay but its def not everyones cup of tea. she actually wrote it as like.. for lack of better words a fanfic for herself. she was going thru like a messy relationship i believe and wrote stay stay stay as something she wanted out of a relationship (someone who talked out arguments and still stayed when things got hard). i just think its a fun song but i may be biased bc i heard it live and it was such a good and fun experience
Holy Ground grew on me. Honestly I didn’t fully start to love it until she played it on piano during the Eras Tour. I believe it was February 7th in Tokyo. Such a beautiful performance. Also, I do NOT blame you for not liking Stay Stay Stay lol! I believe HTHaze compared it to Taylor holding a gun to someone’s head while saying Stay Stay Stay lol! Now I can’t get that imagery out of my head 😂😂.
I actually grew to love this album way more on rerelease, but I do skip a few in the middle there so i get where you're coming from. you've got some of my favourites off the album coming up though. My random song rec is: pink pony club by chappell roan x
I think a snow angel album reaction would be fun! But also the vault tracks on red are some of my favorite vault tracks so super looking forward to those!
Red is still a country album first and a pop album second because her label Big Machine Record wanted her to stay in country. Its because of a lot of that mix which is why critics didn’t like this album either I personally still love it and do find it to be one of her best albums. It has an amazing highs but there are some lows which I can understand why people wouldn’t like it. Plus some people just don’t like listening to sad music which I get but I love sad music and slow music plus acoustics so her sad music is always my favorite because of how she’s able to word the stuff she’s going through and how I can relate to bascially every single song of hers that is sad.
Listen Red is my FAVORITE Taylor album and I skip Stay Stay Stay almost every time I listen to it. 😂 Sometimes I listen through the football helmet lyric because it's funny but I'm just like "girl HE SOUNDS AWFUL!" Because he was.
I had to skip StayStayStay… I’ve been a fan since 2006 and even when RED came out back in 2012 and even with the Taylor’s Version… I can’t stand StayStayStay. But, next to ATW (but now it’s ATW TMV) The Last Time has been a second favorite for me and was the reason why it got into SnowPatrol
Stay Stay Stay and Holy ground are good for balancing feelings. If you listen to red in a single sitting, those silly upbeats are just what is needed to mend your heart from all the heartbreak
here to say that Stay Stay Stay is satire and very much misunderstood! she's basically saying "people make fun of me for dating around, but is this what those people want me to write?" it's not literal which is why it also doesn't match the tone of the rest of the album. it's more petty than anything. anyway not 100% sure she's spoken on it because red era was 12 years ago but I do feel like I remember her talking about this idk if anyone else can support this claim thanks
“You know me. I’m not a fan of the sad songs”. Yet, you’re reacting “Taylor Swift,” who’s written some of the saddest and most amazing songs ever. Are you a masochist? Lol 😅
Holy Ground is one of my top 3 Taylor Swift songs ever BUT its the original that I love so much. Taylor's version of this song is a complete botch especially in terms of the production and she pretty much sounds exhausted, and not wanting to sing during the whole thing. So i heavily recommend the original version of the song because it SERVES
For song recommendations I always point to my favorite song Honeybee by Steamed Power Giraffe. It’s definitely their best song and one of my favorite bands to listen to because they can create all kinds of different music and stories
About “Stay, Stay, Stay”: A lot of swifties hate when Taylor’s songs have a “little kids song” vibe. (Two other examples are “Me!”, and “It’s Nice to Have a Friend”.) Personally, I like them (which is odd because, as a 65yo straight male, I am in the exact opposite demographic from what you might expect for fans of those songs) although I would put “Me!” near the bottom if I were to rank all of her 240ish songs. I can’t think of any TSwift songs that I seriously dislike. I think that, by pure chance, I happen to have almost the exact same musical tastes as Taylor - although I think she likes rap/hiphop more than I do (but when she tinkers with rap on the Reputation album I love it). Another difference might be that she presumably doesn’t like “acid rock”😭 but I love it. Other than that, Taylor and I are in perfect sync.
I actually love "It's Nice to Have a Friend" because it reminds me so much of The White Stripe's "I Can Tell That We Are Going to Be Friends", which is such a sweet song. I think there's childlike-sweet and childlike-childish, and for me "Stay, Stay, Stay" falls into the latter, with "It's Nice to Have a Friend" falling into the former. "Me!" is divisive for me because I don't like Brendon Urie, the lyrics, or the dynamic of the characters in the song BUT I do love how fun and carefree it seems to be
I think Stay Stay Stay might also be my least favorite song by Taylor. Honestly, it always makes me kinda want to punch something whenever I hear it. It reminds me of Kidz Bop or a kids show like Paw Patrol or something. It's usually a skip for me, and no, you're not a hater for not liking it. I don't feel like anything on her debut album is this juvenile sounding, and she wrote some of those songs in her early teens...
btw, some say the drums sound much worse in Taylor's Version of Holy Ground, it doesn't matter to me, but might be worth checking out the original Some songs are made notably worse by rerecords, sometimes it doesn't matter, but especially on red, some standard tracks were really messed up. Some swifties will say you shouldn't listen to originals, but Taylor said it was fine when she started this process. It's better if you listen to new but doesn't matter as much as people make it seem.
@@Clarkvivo_ Okay, I just find that a lot of people, myself included, find the production on the singles in red a bit jarring. People also tend to think style's guitar was made worse. I suppose it's all just up to interpretation, but I more so just sent this in case she wanted to check it out and make that decision herself. I do agree, that the vocals sound much cleaner, but sometimes the youthfulness adds to the song in stolen, plus there's just a couple that sound less emotional now to me at least. Glad you like all the new ones more though :)
6:40 The Last Time had to walk so exile could run or something like that lol
so true
Don’t worry almost everyone feels the same abt stay stay stay lmaoo😭😭
i’m the only stay stay stay stan. i think it’s fun and cute and playful
Not everyone
Not me
I find it cute and adorable so I low-key love the song
@@julianamartinez9737I’m a stay stay stay fan as well, it’s just so cute and catchy
i think youre gonna like the vault tracks tho!!!!
you should listen to chappell roan if you haven’t! I like casual and femininomenon!

"I'm putting a stop to this." I call Stay Stay Stay the Target electronics section music. Others call it the 5 Minute Crafts song

I also love this song!!

So glad you liked The Last Time 🙂
oh hi Jim!
I know you love the Red album a lot and in particular the collaboration between Taylor and Gary😊
i think red era was pretty mixed up for taylor she was experimenting trying to move to pop but she had to make country music. after all after 1989 she found her pop sound
makes sense!
The live lounge version of Holy Ground would probably be more up your alley. Personally I like the live version's production more. :)
ooh okay!

okay the fanfic concept does make me hate it less tbh!
6:33 if you have Apple Music, there is a note from Taylor at the end of Red Taylor’s version that explains what this album was.
I saw that!!
i quite like red but i had to make a playlist to exclude some songs because the album has some deep lows.
5:17 thanks for realizing lol. i noticed taylor voice was different
Try listening to the Holy Ground performance from the BBC lounge. She does it on piano and it’s phenomenal! Feels like a totally different song
The rain adds to the ambiance of the RED album

honestly pllease listen to the last time TAYLORS version. it sounds 10x better his voice and her voice are way better match its just better trust me!
oop nevermind!!! hahah "oop that sounds so much better" sure does haha
