With Ronan it’s not just Taylor who wrote it but a lot of the lyrics are taken from Ronan’s mother Maya blog where she was sharing the story and is credited as a song writer so she gets royalties anytime anyone streams the song
I also looove Begin Again, it was the original ending of Red before deluxe and vault tracks. It’s just a beautiful thing to listen to after listening to all of the heartbreak of this album and beginning again
The Moment I Know is top 3 on Red, the fact that it was a bonus track is criminal...and you're right, she apparently really was fired up when she wrote this cause yesterday she put out playlists as a promo for TTPD and they represent 5 stages of heartbreak (cause fans had a theory and she likes to play along) and one of the stages is anger and this song is on the playlist and in a little message she put on every playlist, she said that every song on the "anger" playlist she wrote when she was angry...so it makes sense. And you can see it in the song, like the main emotion for me is sadness, but you can feel the anger too. Btw it wasn't any birthday, it was her 21st birthday which obviously for you Americans is kinda a big deal.
and thats why she had the best bday when she turned 22! and that's the connection to all too well 10 min version when she says "and it was supposed to be fun turning 21"
So Girl at Home is an interesting one because there’s a MASSIVE difference between the OG version and the TV version. On the OG Red, GAH was very simple and acoustic so everyone was just as shocked as you 🤣

@@shelbmathewsyes! I explicitly remember EVERYONE being so taken aback by the creative liberty she took on the TV version. Already the lore of red is about Taylor wanting to go pop but her label telling her no so it just brings up the thought that maybe Taylor always wanted GAH to be a poppy track but compromised and went acoustic for the label.
Ed Sheeran opened for her on the Red tour! He wasn't a very big name in the US yet, love to see them both selling out stadium tours now!
Starlight was written about Ethel and Bobby Kennedy, I believe she was inspired by a picture of them together. This was around the time Taylor was dating Connor Kennedy.

Begin Again gets me in the feels every time as well! The music video is really cute too…she filmed it in Paris if I remember correctly! The Moment I Knew might be about when Jake G didn’t show up at her 21st bday…but I’m not sure on that! I just remember the scene in All Too Well where she kept staring at the door waiting for him to show up.
I was actually thinking about that scene but I wasn’t sure when this album came out or when she dated him or what that timeline was haha

i really am excited for the new album and i think you should do it with 3 parts to dive into it more deeply and to break down the lyrics more. i think this will be her most powerful album as songwriting.
