What Sabrina Carpenter song are we comparing Chaple's song too? Probably a stupid question. . .sorry😅 I already know that like every new Taylor Swift song sound just like 1 of her song's, but idk bout Sabrina?
All the crazy outfits that Chappall Roan wears is actually inspired by drag! She refers to her stage name as her drag persona, and has local drag performers open for her at all of her concerts!
That's why I get Bette Midler mixed with rocky horror picture show energy from Chappel Roan it's the drag and gay influences as Bette's career started in New York in the 70's singing in the gay bathhouses and well the drag in Rocky horror
That's so sad if true, considering that Drag is pure concentrated misogyny. It's an insult to women. Drag is sexist blackface created by men who detest real women. Men dressed as grotesque insults portraying women as dumb bimbos, street walkers and strippers. They commonly refer to real women as "fish" as an insult (in reference to what they claim vjs 'smell' like). Sadly much of pop culture today 'celebrates' the denigration of women. And more sad is to see women embrace their haters.
why does America treat men in drag like they are gods? I dont understand that, we don't do that here. Nowhere else does that. Why is America fascinated by men dressing as women?

The just his wife line is because this song is all about the end of a Sapphic love, where one party decides they're going to give up true love to live up the standard heteronormative relationship expected by society (comphet), so Just his wife basically is saying, like yeah they're married, but it's not the full love she experienced when she was younger with a woman, now she's just wearing the title of wife but regretting the experience she left behind
@@feelingReckless13 that’s why I asked. The revealed preferences of someone in today’s world who switches between partners of different sexes is that they are bi, so I guessed comp het was a wish fulfilment way of deciding for them they aren’t. I love both of them, I think it's so great that Sabrina did a cover of Good Luck Babe because it's good for the girls in the industry to stick together (since people love to pit rising pop stars against one another!)
I first heard of Chappell when I took my daughter to see Olivia Rodrigo in March. Having been to many, many concerts over the years, I wasn’t expecting much from an opening act. I was completely blown away, though. And I felt like she was literally jogging in place for half the set, which was so impressive. Didn’t miss a beat.

Actually I think Sabrina has a powerful belt but the vibe of the cover was different, she opened for Taylor here in Brazil and sang a slow version of Dancing Queen, it was soooo beautiful belting on her knees!! Also Chappell is amazing, came up with this song and everyone turned their eyes to her, bc her album its actually from 2023, with all the singles already released, so this is her first single this year and no album yet to put it in! But her album is amazing, definitely go listen and watch her videos, shes very cool!!
6:18 yes and she’s been in the industry for over 10 years but in the very background. Her voice is INCREDIBLE…she’s redefining gay pop for all us girlies ❤
I just love Sabrina so much. Her version of this song is the first one I heard.... I have always loved when sabrina covers a song... she always brings a new life into it.
"Picture You" is one of my favourite songs on her album. Such a great vocal performance with an almost Patsy Cline-like feel to it. It's incredible all of the styles she's reintroducing into contemporary pop music.
I'm more or a metal/punk fan and I absolutely fucking love her music. Her lyrics are honest and her music has some great textures to it. I do enjoy my pop but there's a realness and uniqueness here that just *chefs kiss*
I just discovered Chappell over the weekend and I’m obsessed. When I saw you reacted to a song I was like OMG SHE IS GOING TO LOVE HER! I recommend After Midnight, Casual, Feminonmom, Naked in Manhattan…
i've watched this video about ten times and 0:07 ‘i mean ... if that’s her album...’ makes me laugh so hard every time, i love the way you have so much humour in the way you edit your videos
I'm SO obsessed with Chappell! Of course you have to react to the whole album, but her NPR Tiny Desk Concert is iconic if you want to see another live performance that serves a LOOK.
I only know of Chappell Roan because of Sabrina Carpenters' cover!! I fell in love with the song because of Sabrina, then found snd fell in love with Chappell. Love both versions and both their styles!!❤❤❤
If you want power belter from Sabrina you need to check her cover of bust your window and her performance and songs before Emails I can't send album also she can whistle note
Please, react to her Tiny Desk concert. She did an amazing job there singing some songs of her debut album and her personality just shines while she sings with her band
You need to react to her music videos. She's incredibly talented. She said on the interview show recently that she only started getting vocal coaching like... this year. So before that this was just natural talent. She has great range, and can jump octaves with seeming ease. Would love to hear you comment on her- mainly just because I find it really exciting whenever a new person gets exposed to this girl. My daughters told me about her and I just find her to be really incredible- not just her activism and care for the community that idolizes her, But her hard work. She's an overnight sensation... That took 10 years.
The more I hear Chappel Roan the more I love her. It was a slow burn but she got me with Hottogo. You wanna talk about strong Cindy Lauper vibes? That song is about as 89’s as you can get.
Yes!!! This vibrating high voice and then the sudden switch to that deeper voice is exactly what reminded me of Marina! I love this, it sounds so amazing and these ladies seriously know how to use their voices! That VARIETY GIRL
Anybody else getting a bit of Stevie Nicks? I only discovered Chappell Roan like, a month ago - and this was the first song I listened to. Perhaps the only song I can remember hearing for the first time and it just getting better and better with every single note - and me instantly LOVING this artist!
In the bridge "you're nothing more than his wife" is more of an allusion to the fact that person Roan is talking about is a lesbian (can also be attributed to the more broader sapphic women as well) experiencing comphet (compulsory heterosexuality) and during the course of her relationship with Chappell Roan, was essentially telling herself & Chappell that she's not a lesbian/sapphic. This ends up with her ending up in a loveless marriage to a man years later (at least on the subject's end) while Chappell is standing on the sidelines saying "I told you so"
Yesss def react to more of Chappell! Some info though 🥰 first Roan is pronounced like moan just with an R instead of M 🤣💕 she’s a drag queen so that’s why she wears those outfits because she’s in drag. And lastly she’s a lesbian and this song is about comphet (compulsory heterosexuality) which is when a lesbian forces herself to be in relationships with men and play the part of heterosexual society because of either internalized homophobia or because of family/society making it unsafe to truly embrace her identity. Chappell has said this song is about her past self and her struggles with comphet but it can also be read as the other half of lovers where the woman she loves can’t choose her and their relationship, but that’s what the lines “when you wake up next to him in the middle of the night with your head on your hands and you’re nothing more than his wife” are referring to, it’s about a lesbian regretting forcing herself to marry a man and kinda calling out the fact that she has to face that “i told you so” moment where she told herself/someone else told her. (I don’t know if this makes much sense but yeah just thought I’d give meaning 🤣🥰💕 I loved the video! Def think you should react to casual and pink pony club if you don’t do the full album!)
React to her Tiny Desk, its honestly perfection. And also just listen to more of her songs, the lyrics are genius and the sound is fire. I love the almost yodelling she does. And she definitely writes her songs. You could literally try to list all of the influences, Cyndi Lauper, Kate Bush, Gaga, Stevie Nicks, you could seriously list forever. Like she feels very much like so many great artists but all packaged together into a midwestern lesbian drag princess and despite all the elements of others she is so perfectly authentically herself that you cant help but love ir all.
her vocal flips and those super gentle high notes kind of remind me of yodeling? like she’s tapping the note, super airy and easy, then backs off super fast
Just recently discovered Chappell and absolutely love her sound! Would be great to see you react to her whole album! I love Sabrina’s version of the song too, the country twang is amazing! ❤
This was a very good start with Chappell. A live performance of a breakout song, and one where she does the most elaborate version of performance art with the costume and set. The logical followup is either a whole album review of her last album, and/or a breakdown on her amazing Tiny Desk concert (you may have to break that into multiple videos to best avoid copyright--song by song with tons of analysis has seemed to work for other vocal coaches). Sabrina's cover is fine. Vocally above average. It does seem to lose the spirit, the gut level fun, of the original. But I suspect that would happen with anyone who isn't Chappell Roan. The more you dig at Chappell Roan, the wider the net you'll see of her influences. If you're hearing Cyndi Lauper here, in other songs you're going to hear Gaga, Madonna, and a whole bunch of classic torch song singers (in her ballads). But also on some stuff, sounds you haven't really heard from anyone else (I'm especially thinking of the first song on her album).
if you haven't already listened to her, I suggest you listening Laufey. She's bringing back jazz and she has a really unique voice in my opinion. I think you would enjoy her music.
Would love to see you review more of her songs - or even better, her whole album! You're so entertaining in your reactions / reviews. 😊 And yes, she writes her own music!
Fun fact, the studio version is like… 1.5 or 2 steps higher, I think? Girl’s got RANGE!! I agree on the Cyndi Lauper feel, but between the vocal technique and campy showmanship, she reminds me more of Kate Bush. You NAILED the feel of Sabrina’s cover tho! I was thinking Dolly Parton the whole time (and on her song Please Please Please tbh). Her version made me feel better about how I sing along to the original- I only have that high note in like, choral head voice, not belting 😅
Saying "Sabrina Carpenter isn't a power belter" might be the understatement of the year 😂 Her style is VERY controlled, very different from Chappell's. I like Chappell's more in a lot of ways but I do love Sabrina's awesomely pronounced vocal leaps low high to low and low to high, I also like how she spoke some of the lines because of how it changed the vibe and truly made it more her style. Because of all the differences I noticed when I first saw Sabrina's version a few days ago I've started to play around with going from breathy to belty a lot. Its really fun, but mic technique becomes SUPER important 😂

But her album is amazing, definitely go listen and watch her videos, shes very cool!!
please please please tell me your going to react to more sabrina stuff
As a straight male who does not express emotions often, this song makes me sob like nothing ever has. Beautiful
If you don’t do Chappell’s entire album you HAVE to check out “Picture You” for the vocal talent alone 🔥
"Picture You" is one of my favourite songs on her album. Such a great vocal performance with an almost Patsy Cline-like feel to it. It's incredible all of the styles she's reintroducing into contemporary pop music.
Omg that one crazy flip part where she’s extending it, she would love Picture You. ❤
I'm more or a metal/punk fan and I absolutely fucking love her music. Her lyrics are honest and her music has some great textures to it. I do enjoy my pop but there's a realness and uniqueness here that just *chefs kiss*
Yesssss! The new pop girls are KILLING it. And I LOVE renee rapp for the big belts, too! These women are FLAWLESS.
Yes she writes her own songs. She’s from Missouri like me!
Next time I’m in Springfield I’ll tell her you loved her song 🙌🏼
“Thank you Chappell” is my catchphrase at this point
I just discovered Chappell over the weekend and I’m obsessed. When I saw you reacted to a song I was like OMG SHE IS GOING TO LOVE HER! I recommend After Midnight, Casual, Feminonmom, Naked in Manhattan…
God i adore all of those songs, in particular after midnight rn!!!
oh I am BEGGING you to do a full album reaction for chappell 😭😭😭 you will appreciate her genius so much
The 80's feel is what caught me as well when i heard this song and as someone that was a child in the 80's, it has been sorely missed.
Pink pony club is like the epitome of a pop song. It's just so perfect and princess rebellion
Please react to her tiny desk concert it’s so good
I was in the clerbs in the 80’s. And here I am obsessed with Chappell Roan. Never too old for a good Queen.
i've watched this video about ten times and 0:07 ‘i mean ... if that’s her album...’ makes me laugh so hard every time, i love the way you have so much humour in the way you edit your videos
Wine in hand, vibing, this is the vocal coach stuff I like 😂 👍
"Why haven't I heard of her before, bc I don't get out". Same gurl, same. I never leave my house unless I haven't too.
I got lucky that Spotify slipped her into my "discover weekly" playlist
If you want power belter from Sabrina you need to check her cover of bust your window and her performance and songs before Emails I can't send album also she can whistle note
Really?
Chappell Roan’s NPR Tiny Desk Concert is AMAZING, you have to see it.
Please, react to her Tiny Desk concert. She did an amazing job there singing some songs of her debut album and her personality just shines while she sings with her band
7:41 why did i think the wine was gonna spill LMAO
Same I felt so stupid 😭
I absolutely LOVE the 80s vibes most of her songs deliver. She’s definitely my fav artist this year💕
we NEED a chappell album reaction 🙏🙏🙏
I think she is a belter because of her past songs. She's just comfortable in her chest voice
YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO HER ALBUM ASAP IT’S SO GOOD AND ALSO VOCALLY IMPRESSIVE
Ive been hoping for you and chappell roan!! 🩷🐴🕺🎵💃🏽
The more I hear Chappel Roan the more I love her. It was a slow burn but she got me with Hottogo. You wanna talk about strong Cindy Lauper vibes? That song is about as 89’s as you can get.
Not only does she have an album out, but every single song is a masterpiece
Really enjoyed that, great to hear a vocal coach that actually has a killer voice and a good sense of humour
More Chappell!!! And Sabrina ❤❤
YESS CHAPPEL ROANN
the way Sabrina made the song her own, I just love her version sm
I fell in love with Chappell Roan watching this performance. She's so whimsical and all that intense buildup is hypnotic.
IM SO EXCITED
Yes!!! This vibrating high voice and then the sudden switch to that deeper voice is exactly what reminded me of Marina! I love this, it sounds so amazing and these ladies seriously know how to use their voices! That VARIETY GIRL
watching this person fall in love with chappell in real time is so precious 🥹
Sabrinas version is nice, but nobody does it like Chappell ❤❤❤❤ Her version is just such a banger!
The way u explained todays music was spot on! I agree with u 100%!!!!!!
Anybody else getting a bit of Stevie Nicks? I only discovered Chappell Roan like, a month ago - and this was the first song I listened to. Perhaps the only song I can remember hearing for the first time and it just getting better and better with every single note - and me instantly LOVING this artist!
I caught big Stevie Nicks!
Some info though 🥰 first Roan is pronounced like moan just with an R instead of M 🤣💕
she’s a drag queen so that’s why she wears those outfits because she’s in drag.
I got so happy when you caught the Dolly too, that was my first reaction to her cover!! She channelled her East Tennessee accent!~ xD
You need to react to her NPR Tiny Desk as well. It will CHANGE YOUR LIFE!!!
"why haven't i heard about her before" was definitely my reaction to first listening to this
I get chills every time I watch this performance!
I love it when she does the you hops and how she likes singing up and then down
How is this channel not called Wine Mom Reacts?
her vocal flips and those super gentle high notes kind of remind me of yodeling? like she’s tapping the note, super airy and easy, then backs off super fast
Just recently discovered Chappell and absolutely love her sound! Would be great to see you react to her whole album! I love Sabrina’s version of the song too, the country twang is amazing! ❤
Wait country twang of who’s? (I haven’t finished the vid yet btw)
@@ScarlettRedrup Sabrina!
No wonder why I be loving this girl she is soooo 80s nostalgia for me!
Love her!! Her whole Album is soooo good! and alot of her music gives 80's-90's vibes!
A absolutely live for peoples first listens to Chappell it’s like seeing someone discover their favorite food for the first time haha
Welcome to the joy that is Chapel Roan. Enjoy this rabbit hole she’s phenomenal.
if you haven't already listened to her, I suggest you listening Laufey. She's bringing back jazz and she has a really unique voice in my opinion. I think you would enjoy her music.
And coincidentally she covered a Chappell song at one of her shows!
Really? Raye is another singer who’s doing that
Would love to see you review more of her songs - or even better, her whole album! You're so entertaining in your reactions / reviews. 😊
And yes, she writes her own music!
No, but you need to do her tiny desk concert!!! It's fenomenal. Or should I say femininomenal 😂
This laugh was so funny especially the end😂😂😂and then the Gary the snail ❤
Fun fact, the studio version is like… 1.5 or 2 steps higher, I think? Girl’s got RANGE!!
I agree on the Cyndi Lauper feel, but between the vocal technique and campy showmanship, she reminds me more of Kate Bush.
You NAILED the feel of Sabrina’s cover tho! I was thinking Dolly Parton the whole time (and on her song Please Please Please tbh). Her version made me feel better about how I sing along to the original- I only have that high note in like, choral head voice, not belting 😅
I said the same thing! Definitely Kate Bush!
Chappel roan is a super star! I’m obsessed! ❤
