You are definitely right! This album impacted almost every industry, specially the fashion industry. Since Taylor announced red tv, for example, the search for red lipstick increased in more than 800% after the announcement
The amount of times Ronan has made me cry. The details are just so gut-wrenching. What if I keep the hand me downs you won't grow into like fuckkkkkkk. It's about to be halloween you could be anything if you were hereeeeeeee
The joy I felt when you declared I Almost Do a favorite (probably #1), because I feel it's under appreciated. It's one of my favorites of RED too, would be #1, but...Begin Again exists, and its effect of hopefulness after being personally hurt by the heartbreak that was RED, takes the crown for me. Can't wait for your reaction to the vault tracks.
Saw the laugh about "10 kids" in Starlight. Song is was inspired by an old 1947 photo of Bobby & Ethyl Kennedy --- and they had 10 kids before he was assassinated in 1968. Great song. She has called her backup singers The Starlights since Red. (Her band is called either The Agency or sometimes The Swift Agency. They did a sort of joke riff on a MIB/ Matrix theme in her video for Picture to Burn and sometimes dressed all in black on stage).

So for All Too Well - Jake actually did keep Taylor’s literal scarf. There’s a few photos you can find online of a dark blue and white striped scarf Taylor wore while they dated and then after they broke up he’s seen wearing it.
@ajeebdastaan647 yes and no, it's obviously a metafor that she got from actual events but there's no reason for her to say "oh, it's the scarf my ex kept and wore a few times after we broke up" without OPENLY implying who the song it's about, we all know it's about Jake, but she will never say something that can connect the song to him.
the concept of dealing with fame that she talks about in the song "The Lucky One" is also used in her vault song "Nothing New" You'll love that one as well.
I really want you to listen to her album Lover. In particular you need to listen to "Daylight" from that album because she evolves from seeing love as a red emotion to a golden one. It's a big evolution for her and makes me cry of how long we took to get there.
RED showed a significant move from her. Like she poured her best writing skills and amazing production together. That record was too ahead of its time. Like everyone was against her cause her team labelled it as Country. Now she labelled it as Pop. There's why some songs sound more like in a Pop territory than Country. But this album remains as one of her best albums out there.
Definitely a great album. Been on repeat in the car for weeks now. The only thing I’ll ever listen to in the car most of the time lol. Can never get over her brilliant work and songwriting. Been enjoying these Taylor reactions man. Keep it up. 🙏🏼
The scarf is actually pictured when they walked together once. It’s a Gucci “Unisex 100% Wool Striped Scarf,” and it’s blue with white and red stripes.
My favorite acoustic renditions of her is Cornelia Street as well as Dancing with our hands tied. They're just so ethereal😩😩. Edit: The past mixes bury her vocals under instrumentals cause her voice back then sounded weak and thin, but now, it could be at the forefront since it's very full.
Thank you for such a great and heartfelt reaction. Taylor performed Holy Ground on piano in the BBC Live Lounge in 2019, and this gives the song a whole different feel. It’s on RUclips, as is her cover of Can’t Stop Loving You, which was also covered by Phil Collins. Both are worth a listen/watch!
I love Holy Ground performed by her on the BBCradio1. It's acoustic and it made me fall in love with the song bc I did not care for the original version before (too quick/stompy for my taste)
Great job, Derrik. Much of Red was new to me, also. I loved sharing the experience with you. So impressed by your hard work and sincerity. I had to jump on the Patreon train to support what you do. Wishing you much success! Merry Christmas from Donna in East Texas!
Treacherous, The Lucky One, Begin Again and All Too Well are my favorites. I’m glad you liked them. Can’t wait to see your reaction to the rest of the album.
What I've come to adore about the rerecords is how it's like revisiting something that's a comfort and discovering something new each time. As you said, you can tell in vocals and overall artistry how she's improved. Red is definitely one of her best albums and I'm so glad we got everything from the era and how it was intented (the 10 min All Too Well was meant to be on the original album but her label vetoed it)
Bro... if you love the acoustic thing about her YOU NEEEEED TO REACT TO THE BBC 1 LIVE LOUNGE VIDEOS... specifically her cover of "can't stop loving you" by phil collins... GOOSEBUMPS!!!
Thanks so much for making this!! I’ve been trying to figure out ‘more surprised than me’ by Morgan for months, could you pls give that one a tutorial soon?!
I found it really interesting that she chose to change almost completely the song "Girl at Home" into a more pop version. She has never really done that, all of the (TV) songs have been almost identical. I think with this one the original version was a bit... for her standards.. maybe generic? Still great but compared to the rest of the album a bit underwhelming. And possibly not what she originally envisioned for the song. It was a super cool surprise knowing the original and hearing the new version for the first time and it being a completely different song! She is just so talented and creative.
I think she changed it because she was aware that the original Girl At Home wasn't exactly beloved by fans. So there wouldn't be a bunch of backlash for changing it because very few people are emotionally attached to it lol
I have listened to Girl at Home (TV) since release. I can't say I cared much for the original other than for the hook, and I didn't ever play it. Since this version is weird electropop and has a good hook it's exactly my kind of song. [harsh, excessive critic to the original redacted]
the actual confirmed reason is that the song on the original album was a demo. they were on a deadline, and didn’t have any finished songs left, so they put that demo on the album. this was her finally finishing it, and it’s her original vision of the song.
I heard somewhere that on all Taylor’s albums there seems to be a song that fits the previous album and a song that fits the following album. Red definitely fits in this description at least, in my opinion. I agree with you on all the songs you picked out from this album, they are my favorites, too, including a few of the vault tracks. I agree with the acoustic versions of Taylor’s songs being some of the better renditions. I feel like you can hear the little nuances of emotion in the voice more clearly that way.
I loved the video! Thank you for reacting to the whole album, I'll be waiting for the next videos and of course the one of the vault songs. Actually girl at home (stolen version) was way too different talking about the style and sound. You should know that forever winter (from the vault) song was written about her friend who committed suicide. Also better man and babe were written by her but she give them to other bands.
Hi Derrik! There’s a video in her channel that I always request to you because it would be a great tutorial/reaction: “Acoustic songs from Red”. It’s only her and her guitar: Treacherous, We are never ever getting back together and 22.
I LOVE UR VIDEOS, MAN i also looooove looooove I Almost Do u should teach that on guitar, I Bet You Think About Me, 22 or Run love to see the recognition of Taylor's impact and talent in every of ur videos 😭🙌🏼
i don’t know the writing process of the album red, but for reputation that’s actually a video here on youtube called “ the making of a song” that shows her writing and producing process for some songs in the album!!! you could react to that after you do a reputation album reaction!
I think you understand more of how complex this record sounds, especially the original one. Like she made a country record with pop elements, rock, electro, dubstep, folk, acoustic, indie/alternative if we include "nothing new" from the Taylor's Version.
I love your tutorials! I catch on so easily when I watch your videos. Please can you add a worship song tutorial playlist?! I want to learn how to play worship songs and I benefit so well through your videos. Please consider doing worship songs!! 🤍
It’s definitely a song that doesn’t get enough attention. I’ve always loved the original and the new version is a nice addition. The original is untouchable though.
you have to hear me out and say that when you release the vault song reaction, I WILL CRY TO ALL TOO WELL 10 minute version again. (even if i saw your all too well short film reaction).
You are the only one that reacted to Girl At Home (TV) that appreciated the song, and I am shocked but at the same time happy. We should appreciate Girl At Home more. Great reactions too!
I would love your thoughts on Holy Ground, the BBC Radio performance. It’s a stripped down version that I’ve been hooked on and wish there was a downloadable version. It is so beautiful and haunting. Really wish you do react to it!
Red scarf: to answer your question, the best and most accurate answer that I could find, going back to 2012 when all too well first captivated my heart, is that the red scarf is mostly a metaphor for her virginity, however there was an actual scarf that she had and in the spoils of war that breakups are, she did lose that scarf. I actually wrote a short paper on this in college for an English creative writing class. As mentioned previously below, the scarf was blue and there were paparazzi photos of her wearing it with him, and later him wearing it after they broke up. Now one could argue that who the scarf originally belonged to could actually have been him, but that much we will never know. The first time the scarf was actually show as red was in the short film video, no where in the song does she describe the scarf as red. The only time she ever describes the color red are ‘almost ran the red’ and ‘cheeks were turning red’- things that describe him/his actions.
The original version of girl at home is a country acoustic song, but Taylor originally made it like the Taylor’s version, but as you said the label didn’t want red to be a pop album, so they made her change arrangement, but the original doesn’t hit as hard so it became a bonus track, that was hated for a long time, but since she is doing her version of the albums she decided to put the version she originally made
I didn’t realize that Ronan’s mom was given writing credits… I think that means she gets some money when the song is licensed in the future? My guess is that arrangement was made so the money could go towards her charity that I think she founded after her son died? I could be wrong.
Derrick I waited for your reaction because you are one of my favorite reactioners. Thank you for your reactions on Taylor Swift’s music. If you are looking for acoustic versions you shoul listen to All Too Well 10 minute version performed for the first time ever at the premiere of All Too Well short film. There she was with her voice and her guitar 🎸 performing this perfect song for the first time ever
I also find that I don’t care for the pop production of the album versions but I really love the songs when it’s just her and a guitar or piano. I like all the songs better when played lived with the band than on the album versions with synth sound backing.
You are definitely right! This album impacted almost every industry, specially the fashion industry. Since Taylor announced red tv, for example, the search for red lipstick increased in more than 800% after the announcement
If only Taylor will release her own make up and lipstick line, She will broke record 💄
I genuinely can't tell if that's a joke or not

If you like her acoustic versions, you should listen too All Too Well (Sad Girl Autumn Version) recorded at the Long Pond Studios, it’s great!
Back in the day it was All Too Well and Begin Again on repeat in my car. Absolutely iconic album, definitely shaped my early 20s.
