Agreed. I absolutely love Seventeen and they're without a doubt one of my all time favourite artists and it's such a shame to see how underrated and underappreciated they still are even after all these years when they deserve SO much more. The people that know about them only see them as entertainers and as a chaotic group and not as artists who have incredibly talented singers, rappers, dancers, choreographers, songwriters and producers and often discredit them and their achievements and successes and compare them to other groups that they think are "better" than them, especially after they've joined Hybe. The choreography prank on Mingyu is legendary. They pranked him again at this year concert. They create a group chat without him and planned everything together. Imagine being pranked in front of thousands of people😂

It’s very sad that he had to stop his education and couldn’t grow up like everyone else, he actually talks about it in the first performance clip in his section in the hiphop unit song “Trauma”. They all talk about their own struggles and his part is about how he had no friends and had to drop out of 8th grade. It seems that his younger sister attended an international school, so she didn’t experience the same prejudice. It’s just devastating that their family had to go through that experience and realize their children can’t mingle with the other kids safely bcs society “others” them.

Well, I’m watching this 😂 I’m a huge BTS fan and fell into Sevnteen in 2016 after BTS and really have come to love Stray kids this year because all three groups have similar mindsets and beliefs when it comes to their artistry. Plus, their personalities are top tier. You are gonna love them. Edit: I’ve seen this guide so any times and every time I’m just…..fond of rewatching all their content/clips. Such a lovely group and don’t be surprised by feeling emotional with them. They are just full of overt love for each other and it’s special to witness. I do believe BTS and Stray Kids are families/love each other BUT if I had to say any group was the definition of a family brought together outside of blood, it would be Seventeen. Even people who are Korean are shocked at how they interact/talk with each other and their families. They all genuinely believe that they have 13 sets of parents and they are ALL close. It’s not uncommon for a member to go and have dinner or go on a trip with another members parent lol. I’m not Korean but I’ve been told that how they address each others parents is shocking and not how a friend or group member would be expected to. Once again, they are just a lovely group. EXACTLY. I genuinely believe they were meant to be. I can't even imagine Seventeen without a member or with more members, like how they were supposed to debut. Their close relationship is also proof of this. Some groups are just co-workers and it is really obvious, but Seventeen is a family.

I could go on a whole rant about how amazing Seventeen is. Not only are they talented but these guys are some of the kindest human beings I‘ve seen. They love and support eachother so much, even each members families is everyones family. Their music is amazing, you can probably find any genre in their discography. And so many songs have been written for Carats. Wheather it’s just expressing their love and appreciation or literally taking a comment from a livestream and writing a song about that. The Vernon clip should be from old videos of his moms channel. I‘ve heard a lot about how hard it is as a mixed Korean as an idol. Some of them have spoken out about that but you can also see it in comments. Under some of their videos you‘ll see korean comments still calling him a foreigner and surprised he knows to speak that well. They all had their difficulties. Mingyu is naturally more tanned and was really insecure about that. Some of the members would praise him for his skin to make him more confident. You’re in for a ride with these guys. Vernon got bullied really bad as a child in school in Korea for being mixed race so much so he dropped out of school in the 8th grade and was home schooled for a short period but his parents caved in continuing his education because he was recruited for Seventeen. Both his parents are teachers. Vernon is one of the most outspoken members when it comes to racial, LGBTQ and women's equality and discrimination. One thing is many older Koreans and people who fall more into traditional cultural mindset shunned children of mixed race because they frowned upon interracial relationships.

CARATS are an awesome fandom and I love them as much as the group. One of the things I love most about CARATS is how unserious they are and how they love SVT as much as they love to roast them. No one trolls SVT, in love, as hard as CARATS. But CARATS are also the sweetest. I think a big part of how CARATS are is because they mirror how SVT treats each other. I remember years ago when someone was attacking SVT for something lame and how patiently CARATS explained that we don’t do that in this fandom.
I not exactly sure but that video with vernon when he was little was probably some kind of educational content? korea is obviously a monoethnical country but jeez - when I found out that vernon had to leave school before finishing middle school because of how bad the bullying got - my heart broke a little. it's very unfortunate that people can be that hateful. I think that definitely contributed to his personality. me, an armenian person, growing up and living in russia - a multicultural country - still had to face ignorance and colorism and xenophobia half of my school years (I'm 19 btw haha). it makes no sense to me.

As a teacher in Japan, I always feel a little extra protective over my students who are either half Japanese or not Japanese. I haven't seen any of them being mistreated at school, at least, but I always notice how most of them are a little quieter than their peers, so I can see the stress weighing on them, even as young as early primary school. I wish they didn't have to go through that. I can't empathize, not having that experience, but I definitely sympathize.

I think if someone called me a halfie it would be painful I'm one person not two. I grew up in a purely white family as a mixed-race black, girl and grew up with people being racist to me including my family not because I'm mixed but because I'm black. I'm too black to be white I'm too white to be black I was always in the "other" box and that is hard. I think people don't discuss identity issues that mixed-race people go through. I’m old now and have grown up with being half and half in a painful way. I’m from California and I’m half white and half black. My parents got together when it was illegal for white people to marry black people in Nebraska, where they lived. I don’t have the appearance that people associate with the racial mix I have, so I get “what are you?” questions, or just assumptions (honestly, I prefer assumptions because it’s nice to feel accepted. I look like many different peoples. I’ve hung out in a Catholic prayer group made up of mostly Filipinos, they thought I was either Filipina or related to the Mexican-american couple who introduced me to the group. It’s been very difficult and relatives have been the cruelest and least understanding.

I've been a K-pop fan for 14 years, have been a multifan before Seventeen (2nd gens era's the best), I have been following Seventeen's predebut journey ever since 2013, but they didn't debut until 2015, in between I kinda lost hope, since larger number groups at that time usually doesnt last, but when I found out they finally debut, I was like okay I can get into this, then I just slip into the diamond life just like that. Boom! Also, thank goodness for Carat being our fandom name cause Hoshi was trying to name us Mounteen.. (Mountain + Seventeen)
Vernon's story always breaks my heart. He didn't fit in anywhere until he got discovered. He is a bit shy (more unbothered) and he does walk as if music is being played (rhythmically) and that is ok. He doesn't feel that he is a good singer (although Woozi says he can do it). Vernon is very outspoken when it comes to racial, LGBTQ , women's equality and discrimination (WonWoo is also outspoken about these issues) issues. Finally, there is a guide that talks about his writing and composing skills. No one seems to talk about the fact the he is right behind Woozi for doing so. I didn't know this until I saw an interview with Woozi. Vernon never talks about it but Woozi does because he said he is so proud of him. You should check out more of Vernon's other projects. WonWoo and Vernon may be shy but when they get on stage....bam. I don't know where the shyness goes.

I could go on a whole rant about how amazing Seventeen is. Not only are they talented but these guys are some of the kindest human beings I‘ve seen. They love and support eachother so much, even each members families is everyones family. Their music is amazing, you can probably find any genre in their discography. And so many songs have been written for Carats. Wheather it’s just expressing their love and appreciation or literally taking a comment from a livestream and writing a song about that. The Vernon clip should be from old videos of his moms channel. I‘ve heard a lot about how hard it is as a mixed Korean as an idol. Some of them have spoken out about that but you can also see it in comments. Under some of their videos you‘ll see korean comments still calling him a foreigner and surprised he knows to speak that well. They all had their difficulties. Mingyu is naturally more tanned and was really insecure about that. Some of the members would praise him for his skin to make him more confident. You’re in for a ride with these guys. Vernon got bullied really bad as a child in school in Korea for being mixed race so much so he dropped out of school in the 8th grade and was home schooled for a short period but his parents caved in continuing his education because he was recruited for Seventeen. Both his parents are teachers. Vernon is one of the most outspoken members when it comes to racial, LGBTQ and women's equality and discrimination. One thing is many older Koreans and people who fall more into traditional cultural mindset shunned children of mixed race because they frowned upon interracial relationships.

yess wonwoo wears actual prescription glasses! his eyesight is really bad haha but he avoids wearing contacts as much as he can because he has xerophthalmia and contacts get really uncomfortable for him. when he's not wearing glasses, you will notice he squints a lot 😭

How exciting! I’ve come to love seventeen so much ever since they had their comeback with Hot! It was the same feeling when I fell In love with BTS, which is my ult group. They are such a fun group. CARATS are an awesome fandom and I love them as much as the group. One of the things I love most about CARATS is how unserious they are and how they love SVT as much as they love to roast them. No one trolls SVT, in love, as hard as CARATS. But CARATS are also the sweetest. I think a big part of how CARATS are is because they mirror how SVT treats each other.
I remember years ago when someone was attacking SVT for something lame and how patiently CARATS explained that we don’t do that in this fandom.

korea is obviously a monoethnical country but jeez - when I found out that vernon had to leave school before finishing middle school because of how bad the bullying got - my heart broke a little. it's very unfortunate that people can be that hateful. I think that definitely contributed to his personality.
me, an armenian person, growing up and living in russia - a multicultural country - still had to face ignorance and colorism and xenophobia half of my school years (I'm 19 btw haha). it makes no sense to me.

As a teacher in Japan, I always feel a little extra protective over my students who are either half Japanese or not Japanese. I haven't seen any of them being mistreated at school, at least, but I always notice how most of them are a little quieter than their peers, so I can see the stress weighing on them, even as young as early primary school. I wish they didn't have to go through that. I can't empathize, not having that experience, but I definitely sympathize.

I think if someone called me a halfie it would be painful I'm one person not two. I grew up in a purely white family as a mixed-race black, girl and grew up with people being racist to me including my family not because I'm mixed but because I'm black. I'm too black to be white I'm too white to be black I was always in the "other" box and that is hard. I think people don't discuss identity issues that mixed-race people go through.

1. Wonwoo is practically blind without his glasses, he has really bad eyesight.
2. The reason he doesn't have a cat is something I wish was included in this video, despite his love for cats, Wonwoo is allergic to them which makes ir all the more better that he loves them so much.
3. For context on Vernon being mixed, he faced extreme discrimination as a child for looking more Western despite him feeling more connected to his Korean heritage, he was bullied so much he quit school when he became a trainee, people tell him he speaks good korean for a foreigner when he's korean just because he looks more Western and his mixed, he's lived in Korea for the major majority of his life, he's literally just a korean who's mom is American and whom speaks great fucking English because he's so smart.

I’m old now and have grown up with being half and half in a painful way. I’m from California and I’m half white and half black. My parents got together when it was illegal for white people to marry black people in Nebraska, where they lived. I don’t have the appearance that people associate with the racial mix I have, so I get “what are you?” questions, or just assumptions (honestly, I prefer assumptions because it’s nice to feel accepted. I look like many different peoples. I’ve hung out in a Catholic prayer group made up of mostly Filipinos, they thought I was either Filipina or related to the Mexican-american couple who introduced me to the group.
It’s been very difficult and relatives have been the cruelest and least understanding.

I've been a K-pop fan for 14 years, have been a multifan before Seventeen (2nd gens era's the best), I have been following Seventeen's predebut journey ever since 2013, but they didn't debut until 2015, in between I kinda lost hope, since larger number groups at that time usually doesnt last, but when I found out they finally debut, I was like okay I can get into this, then I just slip into the diamond life just like that. Boom! Also, thank goodness for Carat being our fandom name cause Hoshi was trying to name us Mounteen.. (Mountain + Seventeen)

Vernon's story always breaks my heart. He didn't fit in anywhere until he got discovered. He is a bit shy (more unbothered) and he does walk as if music is being played (rhythmically) and that is ok. He doesn't feel that he is a good singer (although Woozi says he can do it). Vernon is very outspoken when it comes to racial, LGBTQ , women's equality and discrimination (WonWoo is also outspoken about these issues) issues. Finally, there is a guide that talks about his writing and composing skills. No one seems to talk about the fact the he is right behind Woozi for doing so. I didn't know this until I saw an interview with Woozi. Vernon never talks about it but Woozi does because he said he is so proud of him. You should check out more of Vernon's other projects. WonWoo and Vernon may be shy but when they get on stage....bam. I don't know where the shyness goes.
