seventeen is full of vocal gems, but gotta admit they really scored big with having both seokmin and seungkwan in their team. even having just one of them is an asset, having both, a dream team. they both have such different technique and colour but the synergy between them is just indescribable. and cherry on top of this all is, they make loving them so easy. all 13 of them are so talented but they are all so endearingly different but so loveable.
Seventeen got the title self producing idols specifically because they debuted with the album they made, Woozi being the main producer along with Bumzu (their other main producer), literally produce and compose 99% of their songs since debut, as other members participate often and writes their own lyrics with Woozi too. As you have mentioned, that's why a lot of people are connected and understand Seventeen more as they are, because 99% of their songs are written and composed by themselves. When finished a song, Woozi would need to go through comfirmations through their company and his members, he said the members are tough, very honest and hard to please, but it is what makes them or him better. He said that only if all his members like it then it will make it as a track in the album.
35:29 that's one thing I've always said is the key to Seventeen's success and how they're still together as a group despite having so many members. Like, 13 guys, that's 13 personalities, 13 ideas, 13 opinions etc. That's not easy to get everyone on one page. But they've mastered their way of communicating and making sure no one gets left out or unheard. The louder more outspoken members are the life of the party and great at hyping everyone up, but they're also the ones who would get everyone to quiet down and turn attention towards the quieter members and ask for their thoughts/opinions. This way, no one is left out, no one is silenced, and everyone gets the opportunity to share their ideas and contribute to the group. And the quieter members are often the source of peace and calm in the group. They're often the members the others turn to when they want to have a serious discussion, or someone to hear them out. So yes, they are hugely talented and amazing individually, but I think because they know how to communicate well with each other is the reason why they're so strong as a group.
it’s crazy how woozi’s section didn’t even make any mention of his singing or dancing, when he’s the lead vocal after seungkwan/dk and the best dancer after the performance unit… this kid is so talented there isn’t enough time to even explain. even other self-producing idols like bts and skz as you mentioned are amazed by how involved woozi is in the song-making process from beginning to end, he not only writes lyrics but composes the tracks, records demos, does backing vocals, and directs other members. i’ve followed various “self-producing” idol groups for over a decade and the only other idol to have this much influence and direction over his group’s music I’ve seen is literally g-dragon, the og self-producing idol.
Agreed. Woozi is such amazing dancer. During pre debut, he was often seen perform with the performance unit and often take center positions, and seventeen choreographers also compliment woozi's dancing skills, along with Vernon and the rest of the performance unit.

He mentioned he had to give it up bc he could not do so well due to his physical limitations and that's also how he got into singing. He was looking for something else to "get into/do" after giving up clarinet. He said his musical background probably helped him when producing music.
one thing these guides didnt cover is that woozi and vernon were initially part of the performance team before junhao joined! they are both AMAZING dancers and i wish that had been highlighted a bit more. there's several instances where dino and vernon or dino, vernon, and woozi have dance solos in performances.

I feel for SVT the ones that trained for the longest isn't necessarily because they needed a lot of time to improve but more like Pledis trying to get enough members to actually be 17 of them and like.. Pledis trying to not got complete bankrupt and see if they do had the money to debut them or not, which is kind of why they started to self produce, if they produce their own songs and do their own choreos then the company won't have to spend money on that and can use the money in other stuff and maybe then they could finally debut
with regards to seungkwan the reason carats are so emotionally attached and grateful to him is because seungkwan despite being one of the three youngest members gave up his childhood to promote seventeen. when seventeen were absolute rookies seungkwan was doing every variety show possible by himself to promote seventeen, thats why he won the rookie variety figure which is extremely hard for an idol to win. even if you don't know seventeen you know boo seungkwan in korea.

Seventeen’s bond is really one of a kind. They are a family not by blood but by choice. The company may have chosen each of them for the group but it’s still their choice to stay even until now. They always put the group first. They are just so real. They don’t only show or let us know the good times but also the bad times that their life is not all sunshine and rainbows but despite the hardships they have each other to support and love one another. Apart from their bond, they are all amazing artist! Top of the line performers and all versatile! A true powerhouse!

Hopefully it's just nice to have something completely separate to switch gears into occasionally! 😁 Just a little clarity for impressions from the guide: One thing you'll probably see as you watch more variety from them is Jeonghan really isn't that quiet when he's with Seventeen, haha. I mean, they really do take care of their quieter members so sweetly but I'd say he's actually one of the members that more frequently pulls people forward and gets them to talk. He shapes their variety content a lot, he's just quieter in group discussions and when outside the group. He's talked about how he doesn't have a desire to do solo variety appearances because he finds them really stressful and described himself as more of a go-with-the-flow kind of guy. He picked up the role of someone others can lean on in svt both because he's good interpersonally (you can tell he really loves to be with people, he's just introverted so his battery runs out) and because when he started on the vocal team, he knew he wasn't the strongest vocalist there. It's really been a quality brought out in svt members from the start, with all the different work on the group they did themselves, that they all want to give something to the team. That's why the members were objecting to him downplaying himself because they all respect and value each other as performers too and Jeonghan really developed as a vocalist and dancer over time so they want him to appreciate his own hard work and skills! I agree that Joshua can be hard to pin down! I think part of it is that he does have more of an 'idol' persona that he switches into for variety. Going Seventeen has been a safe space for them to develop as comedians, lol, so he's mentioned that he wants to be funny and has more of a desire to get laughs now. I think you really catch Joshua at different moments, he seems like a chill, down-to-earth guy in real life (though not totally chill, as they were showing with his simmering annoyance section in this guide haha) but he enjoys hamming it up on camera, which not everyone does! Excited for you to get a chance to hear more of their music! I'm the same, I really got pulled into Seventeen because of their music first. I hope you'll have a chance to listen to their full albums as you go on because hearing them try new things and develop different sounds as the artist 'Seventeen' is something I find really cool. Plus, some of their b-sides are my very favorites. 💗
The part where you said that Seventeen is that group that makes even the quieter members stand out, echoed with me as well. As Hoshi said recently, he thinks the secret of their teamwork is that he met such good and kind kids 🥲 i also think they're a perfect balance of kids who are extro/introverts and those who are passionate/love to support from behind. They also know which member is good at what and they support that member wholeheartedly. my favorite is Seungkwan and it's been 2 years since I idolized him. the first time I got to know him was when Chen mentioned his name as one of the singers with a good vocal on the Radio Star show. after that I immediately looked for his singing videos such as Kwill's cover video (1:10:04) and his performance on The Masked Singer. His voice really reached my ears. I have loved EXO since their debut until now and my ears are used to hearing great and melodious voices. so my ears are a bit sensitive, but Seungkwan managed to captivate me with his voice 🤍 a little disappointed that he was not able to use and show the power of his original voice and varied vocals through the group's songs. but still feel a little relief because he always shows it in his live broadcast (his boostella & we remember kpop live) and through the songs he covered.

In the 1.5 years I've been listening and watching them, they have become an amazing happy place too me. They work so hard and they genuinely love what they do and love their fans. My bias is definitely Woozi, so much talent and such a tiny person. He's a singer, dancer, composer, producer and he knows how to touch your heart. Aside from the video content, I'm diagnosed with adhd if you're wondering about the process, it took 5, 1 and a half hour sessions of tests to diagnose me, I take ritalin which really helps but at the same time as most information you'll find online indicates it's very addictive and also you cannot physically think of more than one thing at a time when you're on it, I often cannot do anything without finishing my intial task first like if I start reading a book I physically cannot bring myself to put it down until it's finished lol but for the first time in my life after taking it my mind felt calm, it has many side affects though such as it can effect your anxiety and depression, I'm also diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and generalized anxiety disorder and sometimes ritalin triggers my panic attacks or manic episodes.

I feel for SVT the ones that trained for the longest isn't necessarily because they needed a lot of time to improve but more like Pledis trying to get enough members to actually be 17 of them and like.. Pledis trying to not got complete bankrupt and see if they do had the money to debut them or not, which is kind of why they started to self produce, if they produce their own songs and do their own choreos then the company won't have to spend money on that and can use the money in other stuff and maybe then they could finally debut
with regards to seungkwan the reason carats are so emotionally attached and grateful to him is because seungkwan despite being one of the three youngest members gave up his childhood to promote seventeen. when seventeen were absolute rookies seungkwan was doing every variety show possible by himself to promote seventeen, thats why he won the rookie variety figure which is extremely hard for an idol to win. even if you don't know seventeen you know boo seungkwan in korea.
for me to, I thought I was the only one who noticed, I think when Joshua's hairstyle or haircolor changes, his visual changes but he is just so handsome
seventeen is truly a gem in the kpop industry. there’s no other like them. group chemistry, vocals, rap, performance, and entertainment quality is all there 100% of the time. i am super excited for you to get to their MVs, albums, Variety shows, Going Seventeen, etc.
That Seungkwan singing show episode with Lee Mujin (at 1:08:00) singlehandedly made Seungkwan my bias! I love his voice so so much! I rewatch it occasionally and its amazing every time 😅

Seventeen’s bond is really one of a kind. They are a family not by blood but by choice. The company may have chosen each of them for the group but it’s still their choice to stay even until now. They always put the group first. They are just so real. They don’t only show or let us know the good times but also the bad times that their life is not all sunshine and rainbows but despite the hardships they have each other to support and love one another.
Apart from their bond, they are all amazing artist! Top of the line performers and all versatile! A true powerhouse!

Just a little clarity for impressions from the guide:
One thing you'll probably see as you watch more variety from them is Jeonghan really isn't that quiet when he's with Seventeen, haha. I mean, they really do take care of their quieter members so sweetly but I'd say he's actually one of the members that more frequently pulls people forward and gets them to talk. He shapes their variety content a lot, he's just quieter in group discussions and when outside the group. He's talked about how he doesn't have a desire to do solo variety appearances because he finds them really stressful and described himself as more of a go-with-the-flow kind of guy. He picked up the role of someone others can lean on in svt both because he's good interpersonally (you can tell he really loves to be with people, he's just introverted so his battery runs out) and because when he started on the vocal team, he knew he wasn't the strongest vocalist there. It's really been a quality brought out in svt members from the start, with all the different work on the group they did themselves, that they all want to give something to the team. That's why the members were objecting to him downplaying himself because they all respect and value each other as performers too and Jeonghan really developed as a vocalist and dancer over time so they want him to appreciate his own hard work and skills!
I agree that Joshua can be hard to pin down! I think part of it is that he does have more of an 'idol' persona that he switches into for variety. Going Seventeen has been a safe space for them to develop as comedians, lol, so he's mentioned that he wants to be funny and has more of a desire to get laughs now. I think you really catch Joshua at different moments, he seems like a chill, down-to-earth guy in real life (though not totally chill, as they were showing with his simmering annoyance section in this guide haha) but he enjoys hamming it up on camera, which not everyone does!
Excited for you to get a chance to hear more of their music! I'm the same, I really got pulled into Seventeen because of their music first. I hope you'll have a chance to listen to their full albums as you go on because hearing them try new things and develop different sounds as the artist 'Seventeen' is something I find really cool. Plus, some of their b-sides are my very favorites. 💗
The part where you said that Seventeen is that group that makes even the quieter members stand out, echoed with me as well. As Hoshi said recently, he thinks the secret of their teamwork is that he met such good and kind kids 🥲 i also think they're a perfect balance of kids who are extro/introverts and those who are passionate/love to support from behind. They also know which member is good at what and they support that member wholeheartedly. Seriously, I may never find another group of these many members with this kind of dynamics 🥲 they said during 2023 MAMA Daesang award that a lot of ppl told them that they will never succeed having too many members... and they're proving them wrong 🥲🥰👏

my favorite is Seungkwan and it's been 2 years since I idolized him. the first time I got to know him was when Chen mentioned his name as one of the singers with a good vocal on the Radio Star show. after that I immediately looked for his singing videos such as Kwill's cover video (1:10:04) and his performance on The Masked Singer. His voice really reached my ears. I have loved EXO since their debut until now and my ears are used to hearing great and melodious voices. so my ears are a bit sensitive, but Seungkwan managed to captivate me with his voice 🤍
a little disappointed that he was not able to use and show the power of his original voice and varied vocals through the group's songs. but still feel a little relief because he always shows it in his live broadcast (his boostella & we remember kpop live) and through the songs he covered.

Aside from the video content, I'm diagnosed with adhd if you're wondering about the process, it took 5, 1 and a half hour sessions of tests to diagnose me, I take ritalin which really helps but at the same time as most information you'll find online indicates it's very addictive and also you cannot physically think of more than one thing at a time when you're on it, I often cannot do anything without finishing my intial task first like if I start reading a book I physically cannot bring myself to put it down until it's finished lol but for the first time in my life after taking it my mind felt calm, it has many side affects though such as it can effect your anxiety and depression, I'm also diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and generalized anxiety disorder and sometimes ritalin triggers my panic attacks or manic episodes.
I love seunkwan's personality so much. He got me to seventeen❤❤
