After college at the Oral Roberts University in Tulsa Oklahoma he served for 15 years on its Board of Regents, and two years as Associate Evangelist of The Oral Roberts Association, (ORA).
In 1977, Pearson founded Higher Dimensions Ministries (now New Dimensions ), in Tulsa, which grew to over 5,000.
Bishop Pearson was consecrated to the office of Bishop in 1996 thru a College of Bishops headed by Bishop Charles E Blake, presently the Presiding Bishop of the Churches of God In Christ, the denomination he was raised in and through whom he was ordained in 1971.
In 1993, Carlton married the former Gina Marie Gauthier who is a professional Life Coach and Yoga teacher.
More recently, he has felt a passion to proclaim the "Gospel Of Inclusion" and has written a widely acclaimed book by that name, published by Simon and Schuster. It confronts the Christian church's exclusivism as being inconsistent, in spirit with the teachings of Jesus.
Pearson's frank and often controversial take on a number of different subjects has earned him appearances on television programs such as NBC and MSNBC's Dateline, ABC's Nightline, 20/20, Good Morning America, CBS Evening News with Dan Rather, BET Tonight with Tavis Smiley, The Edge with Paula Zahn and Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher, The Monique Show on BET, and a number of other television, radio and print media outlets. Bishop Pearson was recognized as one of America's 10 Most Influential Black Ministers by Gospel Today and Belief.net. He has received several honorary doctoral degrees.
Bishop Pearson recently served as the Interim Senior Minister at Christ Universal Temple in Chicago. He and Gina now host New Dimensions of Chicago, building a local multi-cultural and radically Inclusive spiritual community that emphasizes expanded consciousness and Self Actualization. His newest book, God Is Not A Christian, Nor A Jew, Muslim, Hindu...God Dwells With Us, In Us, Around Us, As Us was published by Simon and Schuster and released in the spring of 2010.

Christopher Patterson That can only come by faith and trust in Jesus. The universe is impersonal and is part of Gods Creation. Ah, but God can be known on a personal level through Jesus. Remember Adam and Eve sought a "greater consciousness" and look what it got them. Like the results?

I watched the movie the other night, and for the first time in my life (36 years) I actually want to search for God before I denounce Him. So for all you negative, hostile, violent, hate spreading people, you were the reason I could not get on board with such hypocrisy in the first place. This man preaches love and acceptance, how is that something you need to "pray for"?
Jaclyn Smith the movie brought me here I use to be just like those judgy people but they never been through nothing and if they had they hide it tuck it away under all their saint hood they will see.
Carlton Pearson has the right to preach whatever he wants. He even has the right to present Jesus differently from the man we read about in the Bible. But at the same time, those of us who disagree with him have the right to say that he's wrong. That's not hate, or negative, or hostile, or violent. Nor is that hypocrisy. It's just people exercising the same rights that CP has. If you're headed for a washed out bridge and I tell you that your path is as good as any other, is that "love"? Jesus said that the Father seeks those who will worship Him in spirit and in TRUTH. It's not enough to be accepting. You also need the truth.

A lot of the criticism is not merely constructive disagreement, it is hate-filled, personally insulting and fueled by strident certainty. Nobody objects to reasoned debate but that's not what most of what we are seeing in the comments is here.
Jew and Greek Have you ever read anything other than the Bible? I doubt that you have. And if you know anything about the Bible then you would know that a lot of it is very violent, and only served a purpose at the time. Remember it was written by man not by Jesus. It’s like a 2000-year-old version of telephone. That’s just a fact. I believe if Jesus came back he would be disgusted by all of the lives that have been lost in the name of religion and the segregation that we’ve created Amongst ourselves in the name of religion. Whatever that religion may be. I’m saying that people that cherry pick the Bible, study nothing but the Bible, and spew hatred and judgment don’t understand the core believe. I saw the movie, it was great. I went to Higher Dimensions as a child, and if you know this man's teachings your mind can't be closed off by his new interpretation of thought. If after decades you change your thought and it causes you pain, emotional and physical pain, why can't you be heard. He feels a deep truth about what he says. I feel like even if you don't agree he deserves a chance to be heard!

I just discovered Carlton Pearson today. I heard part of a piece on NPR about him. Unlike many preachers, he genuinely ponders, and cares about, the human condition. I've been an agnostic for 50 years and this guy piqued my interest because he's not stuck on religious dogma or literal interpretations of a book that was formulated by a group of men arguing and taking votes. I've always appreciated John Locke's explanation of God as the Supreme Being that got the ball of creation rolling and left us to do with it what we will...not some man in the sky with whom we need to have a personal relationship.
Dutch Ray And where did Locke get his idea of God being a Supreme Being from? The same place that Pearson did...the Christian faith tradition. For us who believe both creeds and deeds are important and we believe that Jesus Lived and was and is the Son of God. Locke was a deist who obviously did not believe in the divinity of Christ, His miracles and resurrection. The staple of the Christian faith and the greatest intervention of God on behalf of sinful humanity.
Locke said God was evident because of the sublime perfection to be found in nature. Locke's way of understanding nature was critical to the development of science and the subsequent technology that we enjoy.

I wish I had saw this video 4 yrs ago. I viewed this video April 2022. I went through my change & was awaken 5 yrs ago. I had noone but GOD during this transition as I was getting to know & understand the Loving GOD, not the one given to me by man. Thank GOD for the waking! I see religion for what it is & how I needed it for my introduction to GOD ONLY, But I could NOT remain stuck, limited, sleep walking and not knowing the GOD within. The GOD that loves unconditionally!

Man, all these people criticizing this man, I was an evangelical ministering through music but Ultimately left THE CHURCH, Never leaving my faith in God but in the Bible as being the "infallible words" due to so many questions that you addressed here ESPECIALLY the multiple churches in one block, man you make me want to return to MY FAITH and go back into the Bible in the metaphysical sense like I was before pastors were shunning me for it. Carlton Pearson says that God spoke to him and told him that
everyone is going to Heaven, and that there is no Hell, and that even Gays and
Lesbians are going to heaven.
So let's analyze his message, and we can prove very easily
who spoke to Carlton Pearson!
First, he says that "everyone is going to Heaven"
regardless of what you do (period).
But Jesus says that you must repent: Matthew 4:17 From
that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven
is at hand. Matthew 5:20
For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the
righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into
the kingdom of heaven.
So not only must you repent, but you must also live
(Righteously), or there is no situation on earth (NO CASE!) in which you can
enter into the kingdom of Heaven.
Secondly, Carlton Pearson says that there's no
"Hell".
But Jesus says that hell does exist, and that not only will
your body and soul be destroyed, but it will be done in "Hell": Matthew 10:28 And
fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but
rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
So who spoke to Carlton Pearson? (Satan!) The Great
Deceiver!
So who are you going to fallow, Jesus and (GOD), or Carlton
Pearson and (Satan)?
In fact, Jesus even speaks of people like Carlton Pearson,
as he laid down the commandments of God's laws in which we must follow to be
saved. He explains that those who teach people against the Bible are seen as the

I admire Bishop Pearson so much. It takes a GREAT deal of courage to do what he did and is doing. Sometimes that means walking completely alone. Sometimes that mean being alienated by the very ones who professed their love for you at one point or another. It is lonely, it is dim, sometimes even dark. It is scary, and it is the road many are not brave enough to walk. But Bishop Pearson took a step down that road and hasn't turned back. Easy....not in the least bit. So I commend and compliment you Bishop. Your legacy and work most likely will not be realized and materialized in your lifetime. BUT, I believe the CHANGE begun. Kimberly R Biblical wisdom points to the salvation of God in Christ, who Paul called the power and and wisdom of God (1st Corinthians 1:24). And Jesus who is the Christ saves all who BELIEVE from the wrath to come (Romans 5:9). If there was not a reality of a "wrath to come" there would be no need of both salvation from it and a warning of it, e.g. (Matthew 3:7)!

Hello Bishop and I say that with respect. I saw the movie Come Sunday. Although I have been a subscriber to your channel for a long while, I have to reiterate my marvel at your courage and strength. Interestingly, a month ago, my sister died, who is 11 months older than I. She was part of a huge church in VA. (I know many of the same folks you do as does my family, on a personal level.) At her funeral, all that was heard that folks of that church intoning that they knew that they would see her again. Well I left the fold, not God, many years ago because I was not heard. I held on to my faith in a loving God. One who would not condemn me with all of the hell I was already going through and let me burn for eternity. Ironically, I had a dream of my sister. In that dream, I told my sister that I was worried that I could be ill and die. In that dream she said to me, "so what that you are ill. So what that you could die, You will be with me anyway." This was "inclusion" in that she knew that I followed my own path. My path which the "church" could not see. I am reminded of the gospel song, "Soul today, soul today . . . . . .no condemnation in my soul today." No, I am not leaving out the most important part, "Jesus washed my sins away." His death was the foundation of the possibility of taking away the sins of the world. He was crucified next to two thieves and told them, "You will be with me in Paradise." No where did this thief "confess in his heart....." Instead he said, "remember me." Christ clearly let them know he was the sacrifice and no others would have to. Many cannot accept that. Folks still come from condemnation. I say to you, "forgive them because they know not what they do." They are just not there yet and God has a plan for them too. For the record, you are not the first one with this point of view. A catholic priest came to that thought more than 20 year ago. I learned of it in college in the Philosophy/theology studies. For me, this thought is catching on. Love rules the day. God keep you.

About the thief on the cross that was promised to be taken to paradise, the thief did “confess with his mouth” and “believed in his heart” (as to Romans 10:9-10)

“39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. 40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. 42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. 43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise."
Notice, the thief believed that Jesus was God in verse 40 “Doest not thou fear God. . . ?” That is a “confession” that he believes Jesus is God.
Notice, the thief also believed in his heart that Jesus would take him to paradise in verse 42 “Jesus, Lord, remember me when you thou comest into thy kingdom.” That is “believing” with his heart.
Do not be deceived by this false doctrine of inclusion. I, too, admired Carlton Pearson and had attended an Azuza conference in the 1990s (Miles Munroe was a guest speaker among others). But this is not the same Carlton Pearson from those meeting. He is now preaching another gospel, and God is not pleased. I love him, but he’s wrong, and many will be lost because of him.
Carla. Thank you for your reply and condolences. I am still bleeding from that. Be advised, however, that I too know the scripture and this scripture is deeply debated. In point, the thief did said, "IF thou be Christ. . ." is a question. And for the other part of that scripture, you must know the times. Jews did believe in God and by Levitical law feared condemnation and knew their just rewards for their deeds. Many times we extrapolate scripture and gloss it on modern times. Some times it works and other times it doesn't. Also as a human condition, at times of pain and fear of death, many all of a sudden would adhere to anything to save themselves. I don't fault any for that. That is human. What is important here is that Christ said, "You will be with me." I find that inclusive. Christ included everyone. Believers and non-believers and lived a life that would have anything follow his message of love. JMHO. 😘
There’s no doubt in my mind that you know the Scriptures too, Tonessa West Crowe. That we can agree on. But knowing is not the same as believing in the Scriptures. Remember, there were two malefactors. And one said “IF thou be Christ. . .” That was not a “question,” but scorn. That was not the thief talking either. In fact, the thief censured the other malefactor for not reverencing God. Read Luke 23:39-43 again.

And as for the Jews, they DID believe in God. They just didn’t believe that Jesus was the Son of God, and therefore God. In fact, the Jews believed Jesus was blaspheming by making Himself equal to God (John 5:18). The penalty for blaspheming was death (Leviticus 24:16). Hence the reason the Jews turned Jesus over to suffer a Roman crucifixion. Jesus’ response to the thief that he would be with Him in paradise was NOT “inclusion.” That was Jesus’ promise to thief because the thief believed. The thief also believed God had a kingdom. Notice, the other malefactor wasn’t given a promise to enter the kingdom.
Inclusion is a false doctrine. Let’s look at 1 John 2:2 "And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.”
Jesus' death for the sins of the world doesn't mean that everyone will avoid hell. That is an outright lie. Although the call to salvation is universal, not everyone will heed the call and accept salvation. Yes, Jesus died for the sins of the world, but all the world will not receive salvation. Keep in mind, grace/salvation is a GIFT. But if a gift is not accepted, then gift is not personally yours.
Let's look at an analogy. . . If you were poor with bills and debt, and I put a million dollars into your bank account, yet you won't withdrawal the money or use the money, then you are still poor and in debt! Essentially, that's how salvation works. If Jesus died and settled your sin account, but you won't sign off on it (won't receive his death/burial/resurrection as payment), then you are still in sin, obviously. Sin is still imputed to you. Your dept is not settled.
Everything Jesus created (in the natural and spirit realm) was by divine design. Hell was created for a purpose. It was created for the Devil and his angels (see Mat. 25:41; 2 Peter 2:4). And those who follow Satan are the children of Satan (John 8:44; 1 John 3:10). And hell is the destiny for all sinners. If your father goes there, you go there because it’s a “family affair.” Revelation 20 made it plain that those who are not written in the Lamb’s Book of Life will experience the second death. Then at the end, hell/Death will be emptied into the Lake of Fire. There is a hell and there is a heaven. Can’t miss both!
Well, ask God to reveal Himself to you. I sincerely believe He will. I will end this communication-I don’t believe in beating anyone over the head-so I leave with this last thing:
NOTICE: You have to “receive” Jesus as Lord and Savior in order to be saved from sin and to avoid hell. When you become saved, you become a child of God, and you are adopted into the royal family. You will go where your heavenly father goes: to heaven. Galatians 3:26 “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.”
If you want to be saved from hell and go to heaven, obey Romans 10:9-10, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
It’s as simple as A, B, C
A: Acknowledge that you are a sinner and repent; then ask Jesus to be your Savior and Lord.
B: Believe in your heart that Jesus died for your sins and He rose from the dead.
C: Confess with your mouth-literally speak it out-that Jesus is now your Lord and Savior
You have to believe, by faith, in the finish work of the cross of Jesus and allow Him to be Lord over your life.

Carla, please don't question my beliefs. I am a transformed believer. This happens way to often in the fold. Look at yourself and remember one thing, only God will judge the heart. To many human beings feel it necessary to question each other's beliefs. This has gone on way before the time of Christ and even before the formulation of religion. Believe what empowers you and avoid anything that dis-empowers you. The operative word here is "you". This is personal. As Christ would say, "Think not that I have come to bring peace in the world, rather I have come to bring a sword. . . ." I don't judge Carlton and I don't judge you. I knew that this interchange would go this way because it is also human to want to be RIGHT. That righteousness will always separate us. I am not trying to be right here, rather I am expounding on what empowers me. Do so for yourself and I will always support that.

The very establishment of all creation, the very nature of God in his divinity has been made clear before Jesus began his ministry upon the earth. Abraham was chosen not by a preacher but by God himself, he was chosen to lead nations of his children in faith after he was found to be a man of good faith and through him, God set forth his plan of redemption. What does the Bible show us with this? The testimony of the greatness of God comes from his creation and as David wrote in the psalms, the heavens speak of the glory of God, to the heart of Man. We do recieve from him from interacting with his creation, it is through the power of God within the Gospel that these people can put a NAME on who we testify of for salvation. What God chooses to do with those souls that are born and torn away from life by disease or violent at an age too early for them to even hear the gospel, i cant speak 100% on, but i do believe their hearts are still weighed on his balance, and what the bible teaches me is that even if you've never had the chance to hear the name of Jesus spoken unto your ears by an audible voice of man, the contents of your heart still hold value to the almighty. That said, if you have heard the Gospel/lived it/loved it/changed it or rejected it that will too be taken into account. God bless you and may your turmoil be solved by the holy spirit NOT by the eloquent and well-dressed words of man.

Carlton Pearson, I have been struggling with my beliefs that I have grown up with and I believe that everyone should, at some point, question their own personal beliefs. I thank you for opening the door to that path that millions of other brothers and sisters are struggling with as well and helping those of us to feel validated in our doubts/thoughts and being able to confront such controversial questions. I truly feel that God DID speak to you and I believe that He can speak to many men and women and inspire "even the least of these" who are humble and willing to stand for Him and be truthful in their convictions. I commend and thank you for bringing hope and peace to this world of chaotic religious/spiritual war. Where there is love, God is there also. Therefore, those who bring contention and judgment and hurt are not under the influence of God or His spirit. Much love!! ❤❤❤

What's sad is that saying there s no Hell basically means that there was no need for the Cross, which means there was no need for Jesus to die on the Cross, which means there was no need for Him at all....its sad that this is what the World has come to. J29, you have overlooked what Pearson is saying. Christ already died for our sins. We put him on the cross every year and in the cradle every Christmas. The work is already done. Christ bowed his head and said , "It is finished!" The world should know that Christ died for them and even if they don't believe, he died for them anyway. That is truly love. To love someone in the face of disagreement. Christ loved and died for all who did not believe. He died for Pilate. He died for the Pharisees and the Sadducee. But he did not come from condemning them. Christ was the great "includer." He included all, even those who were not Jews. Until you can have unshakable love for your fellow man with all of his frailties and shortcoming, you will never be in the realm of the "love of Christ." Our job it to let folks know on all accounts that they are forgiven. If the murderer knew that he is already forgiven, he may not commit that again. He would be told of the great forgiver and the love of God. JMHO.

IT IS A MISLEADING MOVIE
I saw "Come Sunday" I was amazed at the way the believers were depicted.
They seem to fall so short of what I expected of the people who claim that their God so loved the world He gave his only son as a human sacrifice. .
They speak so highly of their bible as being the word of God but in the movie as soon as the bible was opened and the words read they got up and walked out!!!
They didn't want to hear from the very bible they claim without any proof or facts to be the breathed word of their god.
I would think any person that would put all their blind faith in a man's translation, and teach it to their children for generations,,,would at any time be willing to explain any scriptures to defend their reason for trusting in this bible as equal to the God they say breathed it.
I would be afraid to put my trust in a bishop that would say that his father deserve to be in hell after believing he'd been there 15 yrs. . Where is his forgiveness? 15 yrs. Of burning in a fire 7 times hotter then anything known to Man? Please!!! Where is his forgiveness? What kind of human being can carry that much hatred around in their heart and ignore the 7 times 77 sins they should forgive daily. A Bishop can hold that within? A Christian can hold the error concerning hell and be comfortable their god is a just god? A loving God? A forgiving God?
Christians are not the people in the bible that are identified as "My people called by my name". Christ is not a name it's a title.
They are so closed minded on certain words in the bible and ignore and reject or just excuse other scriptures. They even get angry when some scriptures are quoted.
But though they believe they have some authority over God's love for His creation and want their enemies to go to hell,,,they don't even know the name of their God.
Doesn't your Bible say that, " You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free"? Are you free? Doesn't your Bible say, "when you come to the knowledge of the truth you have no more need that any man teach You? Does any man teach You?
This man Carlton Pearson seems to be free. I think he bloomed beyond gloom doom damnation and judgement, into forgiveness and a love of humanity simular to the God of the bible..
He doesn't feel obligated to save the world the bible says was saved by Christ. Is it possible that he has moved into the deeper things of God?
Time will tell Right?
All I can say about Bishop Pearson is "If you believe God spoke to you, who am I to judge that? And if I convience you to go back to your old ways, you alone will have to stand before your God in disobedience if He truly spoke to you, not me. Stand strong in your convictions . Is not God's way of thinking as far from man's way of thinking as heaven is from earth? Go with God and my blessing.
Any person that would turn from God because they learned there was no hell, feared hell more then they loved God. They were only hoping to trick their way into His grace.

you know when a person try to take the position of God in the salvation of souls it will cause a person to have an unnecessary burden that person can't carry. having this "i'm going to save the world mentally" then get overwhelmed when you think the people you want save may not get saved. then you look for something that will express your belief to get relief from the call of God that is more burdensome than you can carry. there's things only God can carry. God help carlton pearson realize that.😢🙏
Something I like about the whole AA program is the part about powerlessness.
I am powerless over other people, Other places, and other things.
I can only have control over me, My home, My things.
I think spirituality and acceptance is the key to being in "Utopia" or
In Heaven or hell.
The Chapter about acceptance in the AA big book,
actually in the personal stories in the back section.
That if I am powerless over everything but myself,
then everything is exactly how it is supposed to be.
How I accept the way things are, Or I refuse to, accept them
is what affects my serenity in life.
The only thing I I can actually change is ME.
My approach to how things are and my attitude about it.
I can choose to look at what is good in my day-
and in situations and be grateful.
Or I can choose to complain about how everything is
and just be miserable.
For example, I can go to the Dr and complain about the wait.
Or, I could also pack a lunch bring something to read
or take headphones and music.
Also for me, Spirituality is the other key.
Living a spiritual life, which for me in AA is trying to work the 12 steps.
A whole other chapter.
I think Hell is for religious people afraid they wont get into heaven.
I think heaven is for people who have learned to live an honest and spiritual life.
To realize we know very very little and that more is always being revealed.
I believe Heaven and hell are right here on Earth.
We battle for it mentally every day by what we choose to focus our intentions on,
in conjunction with living an honest life.
These things affect what we think of our selves.
it's all a state of mind.
I have also heard it said that Religiousness is for people afraid of going to hell.
And that spirituality is for those of us who have lived there, and have been called out of the
darkness and into the light.
I owe so much of what I now feel and think about God to the AA program.
Something that blew my mind. Coming into AA.
A little thing that's known as the set-aside prayer.
It simply says,
God, please help me to let go of what I thought I knew about the AA program,
The Steps, and Especially youGod.
Lord God, Please help me to form a new opinion
Based on my own experiences from here on out.
I just love that. Because what I knew just was not working anymore.

I grew up listening to Bishop Carlton... I'll always always love him and pray for him... Nothing but the best of memories of Azusa, his Music and preaching...However, I do not believe in the gospel of inclusion but I do love bishop and that will not change.
Faith goes beyond Fact.
Faith without works is dead! And that's a fact!!!! Which means
you can't just have faith, you also have to (ACT).

first and foremost judging not for you shall be judged.. Jesus Took a road that wasn't familiar to other people he was criticized he was looked upon as being someone that was not in the norm.. We don't know what God's got in store for Reverend Carlton Pearson.. Best thing to do is to pray for him and let him work out his own salvation.. Like the song go I'm not what I want to be but I'm not what I used to be..if he's not that image you guys expect him to be you need to maybe check yourself..

I am thinking of writing a book the evil empire of religion, because it seperates divides consumes. Devours. The opposite sugested objective
The first thing that we as Christians must realize is the fact that " we do not need to defend the WORD OF GOD"! Period. God's Word has and will continue to stand the test of time. Whether people accept, reject, agree ,or disagree will Not change or alter truth. Some individuals have been blinded from seeing truth,while others have been deceived to believe LIES. Either way, we cannot open people's understanding.....the Spirit of God...opens up the understanding.
People think that individuals are not showing love,because they do not agree with false doctrine, but only God's Word is TRUTH and anything opposite, is a Lie, directly from the father of lies and deception...Satan.
Christians know and accept the bible as God's inspired Word, not as some book authored by just any man.
We all need to pray(christians) that we ourselves do not become overtaken by the rampant spirit of deception. We will see more of the anti-christ spirit manifested the closer we approach the return of Christ.
