After college at the Oral Roberts University in Tulsa Oklahoma he served for 15 years on its Board of Regents, and two years as Associate Evangelist of The Oral Roberts Association, (ORA).
In 1977, Pearson founded Higher Dimensions Ministries (now New Dimensions ), in Tulsa, which grew to over 5,000.
Bishop Pearson was consecrated to the office of Bishop in 1996 thru a College of Bishops headed by Bishop Charles E Blake, presently the Presiding Bishop of the Churches of God In Christ, the denomination he was raised in and through whom he was ordained in 1971.
In 1993, Carlton married the former Gina Marie Gauthier who is a professional Life Coach and Yoga teacher.
More recently, he has felt a passion to proclaim the "Gospel Of Inclusion" and has written a widely acclaimed book by that name, published by Simon and Schuster. It confronts the Christian church's exclusivism as being inconsistent, in spirit with the teachings of Jesus.
Pearson's frank and often controversial take on a number of different subjects has earned him appearances on television programs such as NBC and MSNBC's Dateline, ABC's Nightline, 20/20, Good Morning America, CBS Evening News with Dan Rather, BET Tonight with Tavis Smiley, The Edge with Paula Zahn and Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher, The Monique Show on BET, and a number of other television, radio and print media outlets. Bishop Pearson was recognized as one of America's 10 Most Influential Black Ministers by Gospel Today and Belief.net. He has received several honorary doctoral degrees.
Bishop Pearson recently served as the Interim Senior Minister at Christ Universal Temple in Chicago. He and Gina now host New Dimensions of Chicago, building a local multi-cultural and radically Inclusive spiritual community that emphasizes expanded consciousness and Self Actualization. His newest book, God Is Not A Christian, Nor A Jew, Muslim, Hindu...God Dwells With Us, In Us, Around Us, As Us was published by Simon and Schuster and released in the spring of 2010.

I so appreciate and have valued these conversations and teaching moments with Carlton Pearson. His desire, his willingness to connect with people was continually evident throughout his life. These conversations/teachings are like being with family - the connection for me is so strong.

Hi Carlton, I had a near death experience at age 9, Over 6 week Coma, Paralysed, etc. I read some of the bible and was struck by a calling from God, and so with Jesus and God in my Heart my secret Mission started. Church going was an option I rarely went. But I was one with God all the more, I was interested in Astrology, and did some Esoteric studies, like Priests might. Many incredible, amazing things happened on a spiritual phenomena level. I struggled to give my self a lable, Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Emerald Green, Zen I finally arrived at that lable Universal. It's nice to hear you made it through the rain!

I love you Bishop Pearson. I look up to you. It takes a lot to be different. Not only to be but to express it aloud. You will always have my support. I went thru a similar situation. The only difference was that I wasn't known by the masses like yourself. But it is very difficult and sad moment to realize that your own are the ones neglecting you and the ones hurting you.

Great information. You validate what I have been feeling for some time. I grew up in the Missionary Baptist church and found myself drifting from what had been instilled in me all my life. It is refreshing to know that I am not alone.

It's amazing what motivates the Christians. Jesus spicificly said after rising from the grave and returning from his Father with his final message that "Old things have passed away and ALL things have become NEW".
He then went on to give his followers the NEW commandment or the new contract because he had succeeded in finishing the will of his Father and His old commandments to Moses, and even told his followers to pray a different prayer, praying that our FATHERS WILL be done.
We know that the father's WILL is that NONE PARISH. But even though a few Christians pray the Lord's prayer that God's will be done,,, fewer respect the simple way that "Even a fool can't error", should they chose to follow Jesus's New law... against That law OUR FATHER authorized him to give to his followers, and to joyfully tell them "THERE ARE NO OTHER LAWS BUT TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER". FINISHED!!!
But the Christians do absolutely everything in their power quoting OLD scriptures, and judging the world and other Christians, fighting tooth and nail to defend the OLD things that Jesus spicificly said had passed away and holding to a different new testament the king of Rome added 100 years after Jesus gave His followers the ONE LAW and said there are No other laws.
They will dam anyone to their hell in defence of king James AGAINST Jesus with their last breath.
BUT Jesus message is the one thing almost every Christian will denigh and ignore, to quote their choice scriptures to prove that Jesus did not return from heaven with only ONE law as HE said...because the bible says ALL things old and new..BEFORE AND AFTER Jesus are God's word... And they chose to follow all things that Rome authorized to be God's breathed word and to ignore the God of love, His son that is one in the same Love and THEIR law of LOVE.
The Christians have chosen the Roman authorized version of the word of God over the "The word made flesh that dwelled among men. The word that was with God and was God in the beginning ". Now they just repeatedly call Jesus,Jesus,Jesus. I love you, but timothy, James, and,Paul I follow, and your word is not in my heart, I rather tell the world they are doomed and dammed to eternal damnation, then to tell them CHRIST saved them and ask them to love one another and that there ARE NO OTHER LAWS or other works required that anyone do. O! No!!! The world is not going to get off that easy no matter what God wants or who He sacrificed. MY BIBLE says the Christians... demands the old things stay in force, and the newer testiment over rules the law of their risen savior. The God spells must be added to the saviors ONE LAW and only then will the bible be released by authorization of the King of the Roman Empire to the blind faithers.
No wonder the bible mocks the stiff neck Christians saying "In that day many shall come in my name saying Jesus is Christ and deceive many". AND again the bible singles the Christians out to say of them "In that day many shall come saying "Lord Lord didn't I heal the sick IN YOUR NAME. Didn't I cast out demons IN your name. I did ALL manner of good IN YOUR NAME. and Jesus said he will turn to them and say "Depart from me,,,you workers of iniquity I NEVER KNEW YOU. And they will turn and walk away whaling and nashing of teeth."
How sad for these the very people that followed their Roman Catholic church created bible, that felt so superior and authoritative in that they alone could denigh Jesus's only law of love and not be a law breaker. Who put all their trust in the flesh of a book and rejected Jesus voice that cried out of that very same book.
They thought to work for God's free salvation and to teach others to do the same. To teach their gospel to every creature, deniging all the GOOD NEWS of GOD'S One LAW given to all by Christ.
Only LOVE can free the Christians mind and hardened heart so locked in the God spells of the bible. Whom will you serve Christians? The God that destroyed the world and promised to destroy it again by fire? Or the God that loved the world and sacrificed His only son that the world might be saved?. His son said love each other, His Father ask you...How can you love ME whom you can't see but not Carlton or the world He so loves.. who you can see? Will you answer that question?
You say you love Jesus but he says you can't love him, you can't even see him... he is one AND love with God and is God and the ONE was PERFECT LOVE from the beginning.
So depart... worker... and take your God spells with you because Love is God and the straight and narrow path that few find.
Judge the world that you too might be judged. Go and do all manner of things in His name as you chose, but in that day remember what JESUS said He never knew you.
YOU neather heard or followed His voice or His law. So run to and frow and do all manor of good in His name, knowing that is not the NEW LAW of Christ finished work. And that salvation is free, no If's but's or works can be added by any athority. IT IS FINISHED K?
New Creation I see your point. My understanding is that Jesus said the law could not be abolished UNTIL it had been fulfilled. He came to do exactly that.Fulfill the law. It is that word UNTIL that connects the message of Christ finished work to His last message after the fulfilling of the law. His message while under the old laws was "To follow the law". When responding to the question of the rich man, that wanted to have eternal life.
It's that final message that makes since of what Christ was trying to say that was missed in MY opinion by the church 1000 years later.
That seems to be why the church of today went back to get the old things that Christ said had passed away. They also overlade His work with a brand-new word called the word of God. Not by God or Jesus, but by man's claim it was the word of God.
The ONE LAW that in its essence is able to stop the horrible accusations the church fears that people will just do if set free, and love one another too, which is impossible.
It's not possible to follow the simple way of really loving each other and kill steal and destroy each other too.
The wisdom of the Father must be trusted to known that when He approved Christ final message of one law that no other laws could come against AND to say OLD and ALL things had become New within that one law,,,that was also the final words of God to man...and if obeyed and lifted up IT would have drawn ALL men unto Him/God/Love.
That could not happen, by the present standards of the church that chose another's voice, ie..King James approved voices.. Oppressing that final message that Christ gifted to man to obey.
The way so simple a fool can not error. That if received as the final light "You would have no more need that any man teach you".
The results are,,,works to enter in and the belief we are to save souls, previously save by Christ, heal the sick, easly cured by love, shout and praise, and of course turn the tables of the money changers back up, that Christ turned over, and begin again to lay up treasures on earth.
Ultimately the decision concerning the bible that must be decided is...are we to follow Christ's final message of... one law of love... believing there are no other laws against it. As Christ spicificly said.. Or are we to follow Old things that have passed away, and even another new testiment that may come later and did come 150 or so years later and finally released 1811 years later to the general public?
You said you experienced an emotional reception of the holy spirit, and that you have also recieved new powers to do all manor of good in His name? It's very interesting that Jesus spicificly made reference to a very simular group that will come in that day saying Lord Lord we did all these things in your name. He referred to them as workers of iniquity that He never knew. Not at all saying He was speaking of you but later day church, seem to value those things above love.
Salvation is a free gift not a religion, belief, church, or a spiritual ritual. It's A free gift without works "that no man can boast"
The bible is the word of God but only because His word and law through Christ is in the bible. Remove it and it's not the word of God.
I can hear the voice of God in Christ calling from the Bible, and it warns of many people that carry that book that were unable to rightly divide Christ from it and follow His law. All else in the bible according to the Bible, passed away..before the bible fell into the hands of the Romans that sought to take or destroy the followers and their Lord as far back as the days of Christ.
So yes His burden is light and His yoke easy, quite unlike that of the church that carries so many laws and fears and cost that the thought of a hell makes them more comfortable because of the wait of the load of the old and new they struggle to carry and to teach to man to follow.
To them hell is a welcome thought to mentally put their own family members and enemies in and except that they deserve it for not coming to Christ and carrying the same old load Christ carried so they wouldn't have to live under that bondage or fear.
Does it matter who Jesus took the key's from if the gates were not locked?
I'm amazed at the way all Christ accomplished for the world, the church has found a way to rebut it, belittle it, own it, and sell it back through their church and bible, that didn't even exist in the days of Christ gift to the world.
Totally ignoring that they still have need that men teach them. Never finding that simple road that leads to eternal live. So quick to pull out their old scriptures to prove their point they have more athority then even God himself they have bound to their King' s version of God's word above God and Christ and their law.

Awumdah, you asked alot of questions. I appreciate the spirit in which you asked them. First, let me say that l am a 40 year born again , spirit filled christian. Everything that l say is based on a personal experience with Christ. I heard the Word that was from the bible and received it and was saved. My life was changed. I had power to live free from sin, that is, the bad habits(sins) they no longer existed anymore in my life. I was a changed person just like the bible said. Then something else happened. I was filled with the Holy Ghost just as the bible stated. I was moved by the Spirit, fell to my knees and when l got up, l was drunk as If l had drunken three pints of whiskey. Then l noticed l had power to pray and people were heal. I also had power to prophesy and see future events, including people deaths. The bible is real and it is the only true unadulterated word of God. It was inspired of God. It is as if God took his own finger and wrote it. He used man to write it. That is , man was a tool. God used mankind to accomplish his goals and since the devil is a copycat, he does also. He is using Carlton to draw and damn many souls. Though we love Carlton, we must reject his teaching and separate ourselves from him. He claimed he knew Christ for many years and now he rejects and deny him. If he was not sure then, how can he be so sure now? This man is in bad shape. He is a reprobate. There is no returning for him. Now, let's talk about hell. There is a hell because the bible says it is and Jesus says it is. It has enlarged itself because people are making a conscious decision to go. Hell was not created for us but for the devil and his angels. That is why God gave His only Son to saved the world. The world includes everybody. It includes homosexuals and heterosexuals. Everybody that accepts Christ as Lord and Savior is in the gospel of inclusion. You just don't automatically get in the church. One must do something to get in. It is conditional. God promises are conditional. Those that do not meet those conditions are excluded from the kingdom. You might refer to it as the gospel of exclusion. Jesus took the keys of death and hell from satan. He now has the power of life and death. Although, he has given us the keys to eternal life, by allowing us to accept him and be born again and have victory over sin, that causes death, and send you to hell, and the eternal lake of fire. It does not make any difference whether one believes it or not, hell still exist and will not go away. If we could only ask the rich man in Luke 16. Those of you that speak your hard sayings against the bible and Christ, and believe this garbage that Carlton is dumping, will suffer great loss . God loves everybody but he knows everybody is not going to love him. He desires all to be saved but all don't want not be saved. God does not send anybody to hell. They choose to go by the decision they make. I will address the three days and nights of Christ resurrection at another time because he was in the heart of the earth for 3 days and 3 nights as the bible says. Why should I believe it? Why should I believe anything man says if man is trying to persuade against believing the Holy Bible?
Eve's Fleur, before I turn in for the night, I wanna say, I respect what other people believe in even though I don't agree with it.
God didn't stop inspiring people, the world we live in was built by God's inspiration. But God's Word is Final, regardless if we disagree with what His Word says.
I also think it's reasonable for people to reject the Bible as it was written by men, and if we can reject the Bible for that reason then every single word that has ever been written by men must be rejected also.

Greetings Seekers, I would simply like to add, that "reject" seems a little strong for me; as a former apostolic pastor, I don't reject the bible. I believe it is full of wisdom & life principles, but I must acknowledge that it is a book of allegories; not to be taken literal, but to be mused upon and applied practically. I ask one thing....which was an awakening for me....and I'm still to this day searching for it: of all the characters of the bible and many major events & miracles written about...where is the contemporary & historical proof of any of it...outside of the bible itself? I have yet to find any😔
Carlton, I've been looking at you for quite some time now. You seem to be pretty good at pointing out all of the fault and falsehood that's demonstrated throughout the religious organizations. What I'm really waiting to hear, is a real solid answer to it, and a resolved spiritual and scriptural response. It's easy enough to point out a rotten path, but that is no help to folks that don't see a fruitful one.
As well, I would like to suggest that you don't need to discount the God of scripture because you can't reconcile Him with your heart. All you need is to find the full circle in scripture, it's resolve. This is what makes evident that the God of the Bible is the same from start to finish. The things you don't like are not representations of God, they are representations of men. Just to ignore the scripture, or discount them, makes you one of those men who misrepresent.
Finally, a single minded man would never pride himself and boast of his accomplishments in and through a religion that he discounts. If the church is misleading the world, then don't find your standing upon their shoulders.

I believe that GOD has His hands on Bishop Pearson, to not discount what the Word of GOD says, but to take the Word of GOD to a Higher Dimension from the old ways of teaching. Yes, I too believe and have always believed that the Bible is the Word of Men, partially inspired by GOD. If only we can get men to walk with the ways JESUS CHRIST was intended by way of the Great Commission!

And please explain how hell is enlarging when it's gates are locked? The authors sound a bit confusing. He died on Friday evening Saturday the morning was the first day. The evening of Saturday and the morning of Sunday was the 2nd day. There seems to be a day missing to complete 3 days in he'll. I'm becoming more confused.
