After college at the Oral Roberts University in Tulsa Oklahoma he served for 15 years on its Board of Regents, and two years as Associate Evangelist of The Oral Roberts Association, (ORA).
In 1977, Pearson founded Higher Dimensions Ministries (now New Dimensions ), in Tulsa, which grew to over 5,000.
Bishop Pearson was consecrated to the office of Bishop in 1996 thru a College of Bishops headed by Bishop Charles E Blake, presently the Presiding Bishop of the Churches of God In Christ, the denomination he was raised in and through whom he was ordained in 1971.
In 1993, Carlton married the former Gina Marie Gauthier who is a professional Life Coach and Yoga teacher.
More recently, he has felt a passion to proclaim the "Gospel Of Inclusion" and has written a widely acclaimed book by that name, published by Simon and Schuster. It confronts the Christian church's exclusivism as being inconsistent, in spirit with the teachings of Jesus.
Pearson's frank and often controversial take on a number of different subjects has earned him appearances on television programs such as NBC and MSNBC's Dateline, ABC's Nightline, 20/20, Good Morning America, CBS Evening News with Dan Rather, BET Tonight with Tavis Smiley, The Edge with Paula Zahn and Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher, The Monique Show on BET, and a number of other television, radio and print media outlets. Bishop Pearson was recognized as one of America's 10 Most Influential Black Ministers by Gospel Today and Belief.net. He has received several honorary doctoral degrees.
Bishop Pearson recently served as the Interim Senior Minister at Christ Universal Temple in Chicago. He and Gina now host New Dimensions of Chicago, building a local multi-cultural and radically Inclusive spiritual community that emphasizes expanded consciousness and Self Actualization. His newest book, God Is Not A Christian, Nor A Jew, Muslim, Hindu...God Dwells With Us, In Us, Around Us, As Us was published by Simon and Schuster and released in the spring of 2010.

I too am going through transition and today I burned out. I am all alone in this. Holy Spirit led me to this program. Come Sunday really spoke to me as I have never really talked much about hell or even believed in it. The true revelation of THE COVENANT OF GRACE has opened my eyes to so much more. You cannot truly embrace or understand the LOVE OF GOD and not question many things. As I read the Bible through eyes of Grace everything changes for good. Bless you!

Bishop Pearson, I have just now heard your name for the first time today. I heard your story on "This American Life" after only two days of listening to that program.
Let me say, your story brought tears to my eyes. It has given me a new hope for humanity and tomorrow. I don't even watch tv or listen to the news anymore for all of the ugliness going on in the name of God. I'm 37 years old, and I've been on my own spiritual path since 2010. For the last couple of years I've been digging deep into Christian mythology and the roots of Judaism and Christianity.

Yes, unfortunately all these different denominations are pumping the sheet full of fear and this is abusive which in turn causes trauma. We're supposed to be healing The sick raising the Dead open the widows feeding the hungry, and demonstrating an unconditional love that that any humanistic mind can understand. We are the representation of the kingdom of God, which is in us. It's freeing to know that God is pure unconditional love. It's beautiful.... We have nothing to fear. He loves us and always is successful at turning every life around. God is still at the same time very mysterious to me. Because of his love and how big he is, to try and fathom eternity, it's something you really have to sit there and think about for a moment. It's the most beautiful thing ever. I was raised in church my whole life I was raising some pretty wild churches too LOL. I've seen miracles and all that but great God would show me if there is something missing, I just felt like something was missing so I prayed that God would show me everything, all the truth about everything and I mean everything including religion. And I'll tell you what, that's what my life really started to dramatically change. I'm thankful, my whole heart is full of gratitude and love that changed me from some egotistical alcoholic to a fully surrendered individual that allows God t to work through him

Mr. Pearson, during my journey of becoming awakening I started listening to you. I thought of you when I first began my transition of asking questions concerning the writings of the Christian Bible. Your knowledge of the Bible was extremely important on my new journey of inner-standing!...What started me to ask questions was because I didn't see the miracles of Jesus taken place. I see people asking for prayer when sick verses laying hands and healing in the power of the Lord. The Pastor would say: 'Sister Johnson is going to the hospital on Monday...let's land hands so that God will guild the hands of the doctor. I was like huh? I said to myself: With all this Holy Ghost Power...why doesn't the Pastor use the authority of God to heal right now! I saw no Power or maybe no Belief...just a Show! Lasty, I know it's difficult to leave what ones been taught aka ingrained, but it's necessary if we are to grow and discover new truths. In my learning I've discovered that the story of Jesus is an Astrological Allegory of the Sun...not the son of God and the 12 Apostles are the 12 signs of Zodiac. Have you come to this revelation or are you not ready to go there yet with your followers at this time? I say this because you're still speaking as if these characters in the Bible are real and not an Allegory. I would love to hear from you....Thank you...
I'm in awe of your reasoning. Spot on! It's as if religious people just don't have dept because they've (we) were brainwashed since childhood NOT to question the "word of God". And that's their secret weapon my friend. God is in all and for all. God is the God of love, not religion.

Adorn Scott What...lying? Totally make thier teachings paramount and the Revelation of Jesus and Holiness of God of no effect! Any one who claims to have a revelation from God with no mention of conviction of sin must be challenged. Read Isaiah 6th chapter.

I have been asking God for the truth. The idea of Hell and ECT has never made sense to me. I was living in absolute paralyzing fear of Hell. Really questioning what happens when we die. I believe in Jesus. I believe he died for ALL our sins and that he saved us all.. EVERYONE! Every time I feel confident that I align more with Christian Universalism I hear or watch fundamentalists talk and I start questioning myself wondering if I'm wrong. There is just so much gospel supporting the idea that EVERYONE will eventually be saved or that there is no Hell. I can remember sitting through services and hearing how much God loves us. Then a few minutes later they talked about burning in the lake of fire forever because God is Just. Huh? God who is all loving will send his children to Hell forever for being born with free will and only get one chance to get it right? Makes no sense.
Does anyone one else struggle with this as I do?

Thank you for saying some things I have believed for a long time. My Mom had the same feeling and Hell became her downfall -- even to the point of not trusting God. She didn't or couldn't understand because she might have done some sin in her life but followed God all her life that he was going to allow Hell to overtake her. I felt her fear, but never understood the concept either. God loves us and she believed that, but she ran from death even the night Jesus came for her. She made notice of someone else being in the room with her, but because she had some downfalls in her life, I do believe she thought it was the devil. Thank you for the Word and the thought of knowing i like she, believed because of preaching that we would burn forever. God bless you!

The bible has been in dispute by spiritual scholars from its release to man by man.
It says "You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free".
Yet mankind especially the believers remain in the dispute. They are not free and still have need that man teach them.
Apparently they are spell bound by the Bible and afraid to grow beyond heaven and hell and doom and gloom.
Is there no living power that can be contacted within the spiritual world that can verify the writtings?
If not then is the God of the Bible also limited to the man made Bible too?
Who has the anointing,. Who is filled with the spirit? Who is doing the thinks greater then Jesus did? What tree can you move by speaking to it?
Who in any religion is doing these things? If the truth that sets man free was in the bible surely man would have found it by now, and moved on to the place the Bible says Where " you have no more need that any man track you"
That place beyond faith where true knowledge is.
The bible a great mixture of ancient scripts, but much was lost in its translation and much was used to fill in the empty unreadable and lost pieces.
I would not stop the journey toward the knowledge of who man is and how he relates to the most supreme creator at the Roman Empires version in their AUTHORIZED bible.

Also, as a follow up thought Bishop Pearson, after listening to your lecture at length, I am curious as to your thoughts on the concept of "Astro-Theology". Or to put it another way, the astrology of the bible. There are some who believe that the age of the "church" was that of Pisces, and now we're entering a "new age", the age of Aquarius, which they say is supposed to be an age of enlightenment.
I believe it goes hand in hand with your comments beginning around 44:43. Just a thought...

Mr. Pearson you have been reading to much of Bart Ehrman. The things you’ve mentioned is nothing new in the scholarship academic world. You’ve made no mention of the Dead Sea scrolls which predate the manuscripts of the Old Testament. And textual variants or textual criticism you have to explain what textual corruption means in the scholarship word. Please don’t be misleading!

If you want to use that argument you have to now be consistent and say that just because Carlton Pearson is teaching the doctrine of inclusion and that there’s no hell that it must not be a hell because he’s teaching that. What makes Mr. Pearson right on this topic? When Paul, clearly states. Verse 9. Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,
10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. (1 Corinthians 6:9, ESV) So my question to you is what will the ungodly inherit Since they will not be inheriting the kingdom of God?
Emmanuel Gary no, I am being consistent because I didn't believe in a hell long before I heard of Carlton Pearson. Now, let me make myself clear. Saying that I don't believe in a hell is not the same as making a claim that there is no hell. I can't make that kind of claim because then I'd have to prove it and there's no way to do this. All I can claim is that my beliefs do not extend to a hell. The bible stating that there is a hell is not proof for me because it is not credible to me. I'm sure that it is 100% proof for some Christian believers but I am not a Christian.

I don't believe in an "ungodly" person nor a Kingdom of God because I don't believe in a god at all. I don't believe in a supreme being that is watching what we do and judging us on things called "sins". I neither believe in a heaven nor a hell. When this life is over...its over. If there is something more, then I will see when I die but I have no reason nor any evidence to believe that there will be eternal life when I'm done here. So, to answer your question, the "ungodly" and the "righteous", as far as I know, will go nowhere. They won't inherit ANY kingdoms. We all just cease to exist.

The Starks Carlton Pearson has exposed the sin called "christianity". What is so hard to understand about that christianity is a heresy ? Only those who repent from christianity's hell heresy can be included, because basically having hell in your mind is mental and spiritual suicide if you stay in it too long. Hi, well... after some years being extremist with the Bible, I had some difficulty in prison amongst the church representatives offering their services to inmates. I attended different churches within Christianity of which caused me problems. The pastors argued with me for going to other denominations, they did not like it. They started arguing amongst themselves and had me wondering... So one day I just happened to read pass 1Cor9 from verse 19-22. Whereby the Apostle Paul was humble and fortunate enough to say that he "becomes all things to all people". This grabbed my attention when I suddenly remembered John13v34-35. So, God is a God of love. He loves everyone who loves him (his ways). 1John4v7 states as to that God loves everyone who loves. So to me, I came to belief that Christ (love) does live in all as is written in Col3v11.
