  • The sermon was delivered on Sunday, July 8, 2018, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Bishop Carlton D. Pearson, Affiliate Minister.
    SERMON DESCRIPTION:
The concept of hell is the most psychologically and emotionally debilitating concepts in human psychology, theology and philosophy. It has produced a kind of global psychosis and mental illness that has crippled and, all but paralyzed, the development of planetary peace and co-existence. After 50 years of believing and buying into the doctrine of eternal judgement and biblical torment, I stopped believing in such an aberrant concept, and I can assure you that there is a positive, practical, and spiritual life without the traditional teachings of infinite weeping, wailing, and gnashing of the teeth we’ve been taught the last 2000 years. Join us at All Souls where we are continuing to discuss the idea of Life Beyond Hell.

GENERAL OBSERVATION: Giving your life to JESUS and becoming 'saved' in order to avoid Hell is as silly as getting married in order to avoid divorce. Follow Jesus and give your life to Him only if you want nothing from Him other than His love, counsel, comfort, and companionship...any other ulterior motive for following Christ would be less than intellectually honest...in my humble opinion.

So, does he believe in God? Or just not the God in the Bible?

Carlton, you can put the revealed Word of God as you can, but even Satan did not say a word against it when he said: “Written is...”.
If you do not believe in hell, you most accept the existence of the lake of fire.
You are denying Jesus by denying what is already written in his Eternal Word.
Jesús and his written Word are inseparable.
Jesus taught about salvation and condemnation.
There is a second death for those who come against Jesus and his teachings.

So if hell no longer exist then that means Jesus lied because he said the flame goes not out and the worm dieth not! Carlton Pearson needs to explain that either Jesus is telling the truth about hell or he is a liar
