    The evidence I am saved is that Jesus died and rose again for me. Nothing else.

      Thanks for the comment, hope you are doing good. I just wanted to share some things I've been seeing in the word lately. This is amazing truth. Please let me know your thoughts about it...
      The writer of Hebrews said that Christ died *FOR THE SINS COMMITTED UNDER THE FIRST COVENANT.*
      We were not under the first Covenant.
      Hebrews 9:15
      ...For Christ died to set *THEM* free from the penalty of the sins *THEY had committed UNDER THAT FIRST COVENANT.*
      We did not commit sins under that first Covenant.
      Also...Jesus said... He was *ONLY* sent to the lost sheep of the house of Isreal.
      That is not us.
      Matthew 15:24
      But He answered and said, *"I was sent ONLY to the lost sheep of the house of Isreal."*
      Acts 5:31
      He is the one whom God exalted to His right hand as a Prince and a Savior, *TO GRANT REPENTANCE to ISRAEL, and FORGIVENESS of SINS.*
      It's all about ISRAEL... not us.
      Also... Paul said... *Jesus was sent TO REDEEM THOSE WHO WERE UNDER THE LAW.*
      Galatians 4:4-5
      4But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, *BORN UNDER THE LAW, 5So that He might REDEEM THOSE WHO WERE UNDER THE LAW...*
      We were never under the law.
      Romans 3:19
      Now we know that whatever the law says, *IT SAYS TO THOSE WHO ARE UNDER THE LAW...*
      Psalm 147:19-20
      19He declares His word to *JACOB,* His statutes and judgments to *ISRAEL.* 20He has done this for *NO OTHER NATION;* they do not know His judgments Hallelujah!
      Amos 3:1-2
      *1People of ISRAEL,* I rescued you from Egypt. Now listen to my judgment against you. 2 Of all NATIONS on earth, *you are the ONLY ONE I HAVE CHOSEN. THAT'S WHY I will punish YOU because of YOUR sins.*
      The second Covenant was ONLY for the ones under the first Covenant, those under the law.
      That would be Israel.
      Only Israel was under the law.
      Hebrews 8:10
      For this is the *COVENANT* that I will make *WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL...*
      We were never under a Covenant at all.
      This is fantastic news for us.
      God's love, mercy and grace is much greater than we ever thought possible.
      I believe the Parable of the lost sheep is a picture of God's love for ALL people ever created.
      The house of Isreal represents the one lost sheep.
      They were the ONLY ONES that needed to be redeemed from the curse of being under the first Covenant law.
      Luke 19:10
      For the Son of man is come to seek and to save *THAT WHICH WAS LOST.*
      Apparently not ALL were lost, right?
      *That's why Jesus said He was ONLY sent to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.*
      Amos 3:1-2
      *1People of ISRAEL,* I rescued you from Egypt. Now listen to my judgment against you. 2 Of all NATIONS on earth, *you are the ONLY ONE I HAVE CHOSEN. THAT'S WHY I will punish YOU because of YOUR sins.*
      God agreed to impute Israel's sin to THEM under that Old Covenant. Then He Himself paid the debt THEY incurred under that Covenant.
      Romans 5:13
      For until the law sin was in the world: *BUT SIN IS NOT IMPUTED WHEN THERE IS NO LAW.*
      Romans 4:8
      Blessed is the man to whom the Lord *WILL NOT IMPUTE SIN.*
      *We are blessed because we are not under the law and our sin is not imputed to us!*
      Never has been and never will be!
      Praise the Lord!
      *I truly believe that God's love, mercy and grace is much bigger than we ever thought possible!*
      *Nobody's sin today is being imputed to them!*
      That is amazing news.

      ⁠​⁠​⁠@@AWretchedMan I dunno about all celebrities, musicians, movie stars, etc… being unsaved Satanists. There is some saved people in those professions. But Matthew 7:13-14 and Matthew 7:20-23 comes to mind.
      A person during the upcoming 7 Year Tribulation/New World Order can still become saved. But a better time to become saved would be right now. Cause those are gonna be years that the Earth has never experienced.
      A person who is saved should be baptized because they are saved by faith. But water baptism in of itself doesn’t save.
      God wants relationships, not religions. One way satan came to steal, kill and destroy is with religion. Within a lot of these religions, they teach that good works saves a person from Hell.
      Jesus has been addressed as both God and Son of God.
      God has the ultimate authority.
      Once Saved Always Saved isn’t a lie. But the issue is that Once Saved Always Saved only applies to saved people. It’s not referring to tares, plants that shot up quickly but has no roots, dogs and pigs.
      Interesting you bring up that “Once Saved Always Saved” and “Depart from Me, I never knew You”. Jesus doesn’t says “Depart from Me, I use to know You”. He flat out says “NEVER”!
      I understand that you and some other people don’t wanna celebrate Christmas. But understand that we are no longer under the law.
      Whether this life and/or the next life, nobody truly gets away with evil. God will chastise. God does have tough love.
      Would be pretty foolish to act as though repentance isn’t a thing in the Bible. Having said that, there is Godly repentance. And there is Judas repentance. You don’t want Judas repentance.

    I love this guy for preaching the simplicity of the gospel. I suffered in doubt and confusion and self condemnation for years after being pulled in by seventh day adventists like doug batchelor. Thank God for his uncomplicated salvation!

      Hallelujah for that. Do Seventh Day Adventists know Jesus is the eternally living Son of God, God Himself in the flesh? One God but He's three distinct persons - a triune Godhead, the Bible calls it. We call it the Trinity. You have to believe Jesus is God to go to Heaven. God is our Savior, it says in Isaiah. Jesus says He's the Alpha & Omega in Revelation. That's God. Hope you know that. You must believe that. 💗

    Brother Arnold is one of the most knowledgeable, expository preachers on this site, and he does it with such simplicity. I've learned so much from listening to his sermons and am so thankful for all the wonderful easy-to-understand sermons he has been so gracious to upload allowing for us to be blessed to hear these truths. He makes it plain to understand what he is teaching without using "religious lingo" but rather, speaking plain truth. God bless you, Dr. Arnold and thanks for rightly dividing the word of truth.

      Because they are trusting in their works-righteousness obedience, deep down.
      They are not trusting in Jesus Christ alone through his blood atonement alone for salvation.
      Their religious pride separates them from simple child like trust in Jesus Christ alone.
      They are still trusting in themselves even if it is the tiniest thing.
      They don't see themselves totally wretched APART from Christ blood atonement.
      They still think they are a good person.
      That's why they refuse to hear and believe the true gospel.

    I was listening to "Walk in the Word" one morning when James Mc Donald when on a rant of "How do you know" you are saved. "what is the evidence". When he stated " And don't give me the answer that on such and such a day you trusted Christ as Savoir". I shut him off at that point. When I hear his program I change the station.
    Beware the overbearing, self righteous, believe as I believe or you are lost types.
    Thank God for the Pastor Arnolds' of the world.

    The "evidence" or "fruit" for whether someone's saved is what someone believes regarding Jesus alone. It's not what we do or don't do in our flesh. Also, there should be evidence that we love The Lord after we are saved...But the keyword there is "should"...not "must", & that's a discipleship/fellowship matter, not a salvific matter. Lots of people confuse the "shoulds" with the "musts" & stir up confusion, fear & doubt. Good teaching, Pastor!

    Praise God for the Gospel. We are hopeless without it!
    Like a hymn says, 'My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness.'
    Our works will never measure up. Jesus Christ who is God in the flesh and perfect, does measure up to The Father's standard. His Word declares He died on the cross, was buried and resurrected for me, so His payment for my sins is enough. When He cried out 'It is finished', the payment became sufficient to save all who believe He did it for them. It is in Him who I believe (trust), and I have eternal life because His Word promises I do. Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone in Christ alone.
    John 3:16, John 5:24, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8-9 to name just a few.

    You are so right. Consider the many innocent men who have gone to prison for years and some who were put to death based on evidence. Many are pronounced lost based on "evidence". Jesus paid it all. Amen Thank you sir.

    I WAS SAVED AT SEVEN YEARS OLD BECAUSE I BELIEVED. ALTHOUGH I WAS A CHILD,AND I HAD TO GROW IN GRACE BUT I WAS SAVED\BORN AGAIN.

      Me too. I was never sure what sort of changes in my life I was supposed to show to prove I was saved. I really didn't have much life to change from before that,. Yet I have never believed anything other than Jesus is the only way to salvation in spite of how hard most preachers try to teach me otherwise. Some people say a child that young cannot really be saved. If that is so then it is a real disservice to them to evangelize young children.

      @@danstone8783 I think we can get saved as soon as we are old enough to realize that we can do wrong (sin)
      I was a horrible kid. It was easy for me to believe.
      I was also tormented by evil spirits when I was a kid so I ran from God for decades.
      I thought I was going to hell for sure even though I was a young child.
      I believed the Gospel but the EVIL CATHOLIC CHURCH didn't tell me that believing the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ saved my soul.
      They are so evil they either don't know the truth or think they are smarter than God.
      Shame on the Catholic Church.
      It caused me PTSD as a tiny child and caused me to run to drugs and alcohol to run from God and hell.
      By his grace and extreme mercy I'm saved and sober today, but I will have few or no rewards in heaven because I'm getting such a late start on obedience to God.
      50 years late. I blame myself but that evil church played a part.

      @@ronaldbarnum5158 Catholic church is the worst of a long line of false, works based religious systems calling themselves Christian. But they are not. I am glad my folks got out of the RCC by the time I was 8 and I immediately believed on Jesus the first time i really heard the truth of the Gospel. I wasn't a bad kid and didn't fall into too much backsliding but I have had my ups and downs like anyone else. The worst time was when some years back I listened to Calvinist like MacArthur and Sproul. Those guys really make one doubt their salvation because they are every bit as much about works as the catholics are. But I am firmly established in the Grace of God now and it won't be long til we are called home and it won't be a moment too soon for me.

      Me too. I was 10, riding home from Wednesday night church, with my Dad in his car, in the rain. I asked, Dad, what does it mean to be saved? He pulled his car over, because to him (and me) this was one of the most important conversations of my life. He told me about what Jesus did for me, and right there on the side of the road, I was saved!

    I agree with everything this man has to say "to have salvation" but our works in this life will be rewarded in heaven....something i have heard is positional

      The writer of Hebrews said that Christ died *FOR THE SINS COMMITTED UNDER THE FIRST COVENANT.*
      We were not under the first Covenant.
      Hebrews 9:15
      ...For Christ died to set *THEM* free from the penalty of the sins *THEY had committed UNDER THAT FIRST COVENANT.*
      We did not commit sins under that first Covenant.
      Also...Jesus said... He was *ONLY* sent to the lost sheep of the house of Isreal.
      That is not us.
      Matthew 15:24
      But He answered and said, *"I was sent ONLY to the lost sheep of the house of Isreal."*
      Acts 5:31

      Apparently not ALL were lost, right?

    HOW TO BECOME A CHRISTIAN, BE SAVED, AND GO TO HEAVEN WHEN YOU DIE:
    1) Acknowledge you are a hell deserving sinner under the condemnation of God's law, totally incapable of saving yourself.
    2)Believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, God in the flesh, is our Savior. He shed his blood and died on the cross for our sins. He was buried and bodily rose from the dead on the third day. He paid for all of our sins with his sinless blood (1 Corinthians 15:1-4).
    The instant that you believe the gospel as your only hope for salvation, you receive Jesus's free gift of eternal life (Romans 5:15; 6:23), paid for by his blood (Colossians 1:14; 1 Peter 1:18,19). "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:23).
    NO AMOUNT OF THE WORST SINS CAN EVER CAUSE YOU TO LOSE SALVATION!!!
    Jesus paid for all of our past, present, and future sins with his blood. "As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us" (Psalm 103:12). "For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believeth" (Romans 10:4). “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all” (James 2:10).
    Salvation is by grace through faith only. "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9). You do not have to pray any special prayer. Salvation is of the heart (Romans 10:10). Simply acknowledge you are a hell deserving sinner and believe the gospel in your heart. Believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, God in the flesh, is our Savior. He shed his blood and died on the cross for our sins. He was buried and bodily rose from the dead on the third day. He paid for all of our sins with his sinless blood (1 Corinthians 15:1-4).
    Many churches today preach that you must try to stop sinning as well as be baptized. That is wrong! They are adding works to faith, which contradicts the bible and therefore will only lead to hell. "And if by grace: then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work" (Romans 11:6). "Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness" (Romans 4:4-5). "Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus" (Galatians 3:24-26). Faith = full trust. Even if you have 99% doubt, it is nothing less than 100% faith if you rest all of that tiny bit of trust in the gospel as your only hope for salvation.
    “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity” (Matthew 7:21-23). “And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day" (John 6:40). "Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent" (John 6:29).
    “And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith” (Philippians 3:9): "In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins" (Colossians 1:14):
    You must be sinless to enter into heaven. The instant that you rest all of your trust in the gospel as your only hope for heaven, all of your past, present, and future sins are forgiven. You are made sinless forever in God's eyes. You are saved forever from hell and you have eternal life.

      I’m not gonna assume that everybody who says “Repent of your sins” is unsaved. But having said that, repenting of your sins in of itself doesn’t save.

    Works are dung in the eyes of God. What can we bring to God? He's God! Needing nothing. He doesn't need us. We need Him. The rebirth does yield fruits. But careful inspecting others fruits because they are often inward. Just because they are quiet about their works doesn't mean there are no fruits. He who does his works for all to see praying on the street corner for all to hear, they have their reward. Those who do good works in secret will be rewarded openly by God because those are for God. Not the ones you do for all to see and to get the pat on the back and admiration. That's for you. Not God.

      Good works are dung in the eyes of God? Where does the Bible say that?
      Christians' works will be tested with fire, and the good works done upon the foundation of Christ will be rewarded (1 Corinthians 3). Obviously, works done for self-centered aggrandizement will burn away. Those done in love and gratitude to the Lord will remain and be rewarded.

    The evidence is that you AGREE with the Word Of God. You agree that God is right and that you are a sinner in need of a Savior. Today people want to change the Word Of God to mean whatever they want it to mean. They don’t agree with what God said “sin” is so now everything is ok for them to do! They mock God and His Word. No one is perfect, yet we are to KEEP His Word not charge it to believe something else!

    Rom 5:15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.
    Rom 5:16 :And not as it was by one that sinned,so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but thefree gift is of many offences unto justification.
    Rom 5:18 :Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free giftcame upon all men unto justification of life.

    Bill Erickson, Levi Belaro, and anyone that doesn't understand how to correctly use the biblical term "REPENT", you have to look at the context of the passage it's used in to know whether it is used in the context of justification or not. Acts 17:16-31 is a perfect example of "repent" used in the context of justification (salvation). Do you see in verse 16 that the city was..... "wholly given unto idolatry"? They were trusting in idols made with hands, and Paul is preaching to them the gospel of Christ. They needed to "change their thinking" about where they placed their trust. This has to do with what they believed, not how they lived their life.
    Please take the time to read the passage....
    Acts 17:16-31
    16 Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city >>>wholly given to idolatry.
    >>He seemeth to be a setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection.

    ONLY JESUS WAS BORN WITHOUT THE SEED OF A MAN, So all you work for salvation just running around in religious work you want if you don't put your full trust in Jesus I don't care how much work you do you won't make it, we work out of love not to STAY SAVED.

      Why would you ask me such a banal question? Who that believes in so called "Lordship salvation" would ever suggest that once God declares a believer righteous based on the imputed righteousness of Christ, he could ever cease to be justified? That has absolutely nothing to do with the issue.

      Randall Seiver well maybe there is a mix up of some kind because awhile back I was going back and fourth with someone who still believe they still have to work to get in and have to live right, all I know is that I agree with yankee, I just put my trust in the finished work of the cross, NO MORE FOOLISH DISPUTES.

      I think you will find that people will often say foolish things when they imagine they understand a particular theological view. Yankee often does that and consequently prodigiously misrepresents what others believe. Any true believer puts his trust in the finished work of the cross for justification before God. That is not a point of dispute.

      The Holy Spirit baptizes every person who believes on Jesus and lives inside of them. The Holy Spirit perfects us over our lifetimes, ONLY if we submit ourselves to God. Some people get saved and never submit, but are still saved, because their salvation is not based on their actions, but on what Jesus did for them. That’s why there are some people that have been saved for years and are still babes in Christ. God promises to finish what he started.

    What is the meaning of this, " 3:12-13 in the King James Version (KJV):
    12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
    13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin." It sounds as if you can depart from God.

    To Bill Erickson: To WORK OUT your SALVATION with FEAR AND TREMBLING means to CONTINUE in walking as Christ walked doing good and loving others💕 with all REVERENCE to God as frail WEAK sons and daughters of GOD, I don't mean any harm but do you read your Bible and compare scripture with scripture or do you grab your TV remote and compare to preacher to preacher ?

      Bill Erickson Grace isn't a Doctrine it's the very essence of who God is, Jesus gave himself to be a sacrifice for our sins when he didn't have too he could have let us go to hell but he didn't, Ephesians 2:8-9, a lot of churches love to use those SCARE TACTICS about sin to keep you in bondage to legalism, always making people feel like they're not good enough, with respect to the pastor tell him that JESUS PAID IT ALL, How do we earn a free gift, WHAT SIN??? When you got saved your sin nature was taken away, John 1:29, 1 John 1:9 notice the word ALL, We don't have to WORK to stay saved either, Hebrews 9:14, we work because we love God and others.

People don't need a license to sin because we sin without one, why do you think Jesus came in the first place, The gospel is THE GOOD NEWS, The condition is believing in what Jesus did on the Cross, and the Holy Spirit will Guide us through the rest, Philippians 1:6, this verse is to assure Christians to keep loving each other and others, I don't know what you do but I don't like four wall only preaching so I volunteer at soup kitchens and homeless shelters to spread the GOOD NEWS, and I leave hell fire and brim stone to pastors, Do you know what JUSTIFICATION is ? ROMANS 5:1, Second Corinthians 5:21.

      Bill Erickson I use to do like you when I was on milk, as much as I use to love and drink beer🍺 after being saved I started judging others drinking beer🍻 saying look at that nasty sin, Then I started Questioning preachers and other denominations saying what are they talking about, Then God made sure that I noticed that there are atheist that has never had a drop of alcohol and do good deeds and give more than most Christians , and as far as others preaching and denominations this verse sprang out at me 1 Corinthians 12:5, Then early one morning 2:00 am after falling asleep on the TV this man was preaching the grace message and believe me it scared me too at first, so I spent the next two years studying the aposotle Paul, THANK YOU JESUS I'M FREE FROM SIN AND DEATH, Now I'm Deacon Russell and a assistant Sunday school teacher, because my pastor heard my comments on the lessons and talked to the Sunday school superintendent about making me the assistant teacher but it's still hard because people don't really understand what all Jesus accomplished on the Cross because they say the same thing you're saying with all do respect, ROMANS 6:1, Now I no longer judge another man's ministry.

    I had an earthquake conviction that lasted for about four months. I've been chastised, I've been brought back twice by the Holy Spirit twice from backsliding and each time I absolutely hate sin and I may not be saved? It clearly says fornicators, adulteress, thieves, will not go into the Kingdom; so, how does anyone tell if they're saved this guy said that only God knows....I don't understand.

      1 Corinthians 15:
      50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
      51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
      52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
      Faith in the finished work of Christ, His sinless life, death, burial, and resurrection and the promise God made to those who believe is salvation.
      You can and should hate sin, but just as you can do no good work to earn salvation, you can do no bad work to lose it. It is a free gift, grace through faith.
      There will be no sin in the kingdom because we "shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed."

But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. 7For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will. 8That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God.
    9But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.)

      The moment a person BELIEVES,in Jesus alone, they are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. That means forever. It’s a gift from God, not of works that anyone can boast, (works). There’s nothing more anyone needs or is required to do, otherwise you’ve trusted in a different gospel.Jesus said, “It is finished”.

    Why is there a list of sins that will lead us to hell if we practice them?
    Why is there a list of the fruits of the spirit that every believer should have?

      Chapter 14
      The Lists
      If you have ever discussed the
      gospel and the plan of salvation with the “religious”, you will inevitably hear
      the lists. What are the lists? Where are they located in the Bible? Well, the
      lists are a set of dos and don’ts. If you do them, you will not inherit the
      kingdom of God, or so the religious would like you to believe. These lists are
      located in 1 Corinthians 6 and Galatians 5. We will start with Corinthians as
      that is the easiest to explain. Then we will go the list in Galatians and
      determine the message Paul was trying to convey, in context.
      “Know
      ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not
      deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate,
      nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor
      drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God” (1
      Cor 6:9,10).
      Read by itself, this passage seems to contradict
      salvation by grace through faith in the gospel alone. If you do these things,
      you will not inherit the kingdom of God. However, we know the Bible CANNOT contradict itself. The answer is
      rather easy. All we need to do is keep reading. If we keep reading, the answer
      will become obvious.
      “And
      such were some of you: but ye are
      washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the
      Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God (1 Cor 6:11).
      This verse clears up what Paul was trying to say. I
      want you to notice the word “but”. “But” tells you there was something
      different about them. It does NOT
      read “BUT ye stopped doing these things”. It does NOT read “BUT,ye don’t do these things as much”. It does read, “but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but
      ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.” Yep, this carnal church
      (1 Cor 3:1-3) was washed, sanctified and justified. According to Heb 10:14, they
      were perfected forever. If that does not clear this passage up for you, go to
      the next verse.
      “ALL things are lawful unto me, but all
      things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought
      under the power of any” (1 Cor 6:12).
      How could Paul write this list saying “if you do
      these things then you will not inherit the kingdom of God” then turn around and
      declare that all things are lawful? It is simple-he can’t.
      Start at the beginning of the
      chapter 6 in Corinthians and you will see that this saved church had members
      who were taking each other to court. Paul was asking, ”Why would you go to the
      unrighteous (unsaved) to settle these disputes?” Know ye not that the
      unrighteous (unsaved) shall not inherit the kingdom of God? “And such were some
      of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the
      Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.” We clearly see that those sins don’t
      stop a saved person from inheriting the kingdom of God. This leads us to
      another list. This list is found in Galatians 5. The answer is a bit harder to see,
      as one needs to look at the context of the whole epistle to determine what Paul
      was communicating.
      Now
      the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication,
      uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations,
      wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings,
      and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time
      past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
      (Galatians 5:19-21)
      First, as you have read this
      phrase many times already: the Bible CANNOT
      contradict itself. The word I want you to notice is “strife”. Are you married? Do you argue with your spouse? Are you
      employed? Do you argue with your co-workers? How about your boss? Let’s go back
      to Corinthians for a moment.
      ”For
      ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not
      carnal, and walk as men?” (1 Cor 3:3).
      Alright-if those who “envy and strife” cannot
      inherit the kingdom of God, how can this saved yet carnal church at Corinth
      have envying and strife? How is that possible? NO, you cannot lose your
      salvation (see eternal security chapter). This can be understood when we look at the context of Galatians. Galatians
      is covered in detail in the chapter, “Repent of your sins”. It clearly shows
      that someone had come unto the church at Galatia and preached another gospel. They
      added the law to the gospel, thus frustrating grace (Gal 1:6-8 and Gal
      2:16-21). The whole book of Galatians is about NO LAW for salvation. IF this
      passage means that those that do these things don’t inherit the kingdom of God,
      then Paul just contradicted himself by going against the entire book of
      Galatians that he wrote, as well as the church at Corinth having envying and
      strife among them. What was Paul really saying?
      Let’s say that you are trying to
      speak with atheists about salvation.
      You need to let them know they are sinners. Without knowing one is a sinner,
      how can one realize what he or she is being saved from? You need the law to
      show people they are in trouble with God and that they need a savior. We need
      to convict this atheist. Galatians
      calls the law “our schoolmaster” to bring us to Christ. It is the same thing here
      in Galatians. In context, these believers were putting themselves back under the law. Paul called them foolish for thinking this way (Gal 3:1-3).
      He was shocked that they were so removed from the gospel (Gal 1:6). What do you
      do when a born again believer mistakenly puts themselves under the law? You convict them. Envying, strife, and
      the like? Everyone does these occasionally. If this is you, know that if you have
      strife or envy, you will not inherit the kingdom of God, unless ye are washed, ye are sanctified, ye are justified by the
      Lord Jesus Christ. The list was used by
      Paul to convict these saved believers that the law cannot save them. He was
      basically saying, “Remember I told you these things while you were unbelievers.”
      Why, then, would you put yourself
      back under the law? Don’t allow the religious to tell you that if do these
      things you will not inherit eternal life. Eternal life is a free gift (Romans
      5:15-20) given to those who believe (trust) that Jesus (Gods only Son, God in
      the flesh) died for their sins and rose again from the dead (1 Cor 15:1-4). Are
      you certain you will inherit eternal life? Have you been washed, sanctified and
      justified?

      Jesus' bride: Jesus does not save our flesh...he saved our SPIRIT. THAT is what has been made forever holy. Our flesh decays and dies as the price we pay for our sins. Jesus' grace saves our spirits from going to hell (the second death) and whosoever believes in and trusts him as their lord and savior (their spirits) shall have everlasting life. Our bodies will rise from the dead and be joined with our spirits in the sky to be made holy upon Jesus' second coming. The living believers at the time of Jesus' second coming will have their bodies completely transformed and joined with their spirit to be made holy.

    Jesus says that when we are saved, we will see a change in us. What is that change for the man who lives and dies a habitally sinful life? Is it merely the fact that he no longer justifies his sin for himself but because of grace?

      +Salvation By Grace Absolutely I get that but the bible does say that there WILL be a change in us. Here's what I think. Tell if I'm wrong. Once we're saved, we are now dependent on God's grace and we now believe that our old sinful ways are in fact sinful. Before being saved, many people tried to justify their sins and didn't even believe what they were doing was sin. But now they believe differently. I believe there does have to be some sort of change. Couldn't that be the change God is talking about? A change in how they perceive their old self?

      Salvation by Grace,
      You need to learn that there is a distinction between justification and salvation. Salvation is a much broader term that clearly brings a believer's works within its parameters. God does far more in salvation that simply pardon and justify sinners. Justification requires no change in the sinner whatsoever. God justifies the ungodly [see Romans 4:5]. Regeneration and sanctification clearly requires a change in us that God himself produces.
      That change in us has no effect whatsoever in justifying us before God. The rest of salvation is all about change in us.

    The fruits are outlined in scripture. Evidence of a Christian is found in the Bible. love joy peace patience etc. If you are using your own standards that’s where you’d be wrong.
    The purpose of the fruit of the tree teaching from seem on mount isn’t for God to look at you it’s for us to look at false teachers/Christians. It’s not for you to find“1 bad fruit” then you’re a bad tree. He took Jesus words and turned them into something other than what Jesus meant.

      James is talking about mature believers, there is nothing there about salvation, it is all about how can mature believers prove they are mature? the answer is by works. God vindicates his word in us when we are believers and live his will for us which is to know him.
      Abraham proved he knew the Lord by giving up his own son and sacrificing him the moment God told him to, Abraham knew the Lord so much that he knew that God is perfect justice and that nothing that he asked of him would be unfair or make him worse of. God vindicated the doctrine in Abraham's heart by providing another sacrifice instead of his son and letting his son live... this is how Abraham was proved to be a mature believer. Mature believers prove they are mature by works and God vindicating his word in them, that is all. There is nothing about salvation in this book. (Y)

      James chapter 2 - this will be lengthy, there is no way around it. :)
      NOTE - the bible CANNOT contradict itself.
      First we need some verses that say we are saved without works.
      Eph 2:8-9 - For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:9 NOT OF WORKS, lest any man should boast
      Rom 3:27 - Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of WORKS? Nay: but by the law of faith
      Rom 4:5 - But to him that WORKETH NOT, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness
      Rom 4:6 - Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness WITHOUT WORKS
      Rom 11:6 - And if by grace, then is it NO MORE OF WORKS: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.
      James 2 :
      I think you started...faith without works is dead. This is a "TRUE" statement. Dead does NOT mean "unsaved" it means "useless".
      notice verse 14 - what doth it profit....
      1. it profits the believer nothing (Judgment seat of Christ)
      2. it obviously profits the hungry person nothing as well.
      Faith without works PROFITS nothing. Again, salvation is without works (see above)
      VERSE 14 Can faith save him? the question is "save him from what?
      - its not from hell as James is written to believers. (James 1:2 - brethren)
      So what are they being saved from? JUDGMENT (see verse 13). Faith will NOT save a believer from judgment.
      There are 2 other forms of judgment mentioned in the bible.
      1. The chastening hand of God. God will discipline his own. (Hebrews)
      2. The judgment seat of Christ where our WORKS are tested. (1 and 2 Corinthians)
      VERSE 18 - before I start - we have to realize who is speaking.....IT IS NOT JAMES. Seriously!!!! James has created a fictional character that begins to speak…sort of like me telling you a joke....one guy said to the other....I HAVE JUST CREATED 2 FICTIONAL MEN.
      How do we know this? verse 18 starts with, "ye a MAN may say”.
      - James didn't say - I tell you
      - or I say unto thee
      James creates a fictional man (ye a MAN may say). It is this man that is now talking. James actually calls the man VAIN in verse 20. I will substitute BOB for MAN to show clarity.
      Yea, BOB (a man) may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
      19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
      20 But wilt thou know, O vain BOB (man), that faith without works is dead
      YES - IT IS HUMAN VAINITY THAT THINKS WE HAVE ANYTHING TO OFFER GOD FOR SALVATION -----the bible is clear-salvation is a FREE GIFT to anyone who believes the simple gospel message.
      VERSE 21 - Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar
      - the question - justified before who???? not God.
      - Rom 4:1-2 - What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found? 2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but NOT before God
      - WORKS justifies us before MAN - 1 Samuel - Man looketh on the outward but God knoweth the heart.
      VERSE 22 - Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made PERFECT
      - remember - Jesus ministry - He said to his disciples many times "ye of LITTLE faith"....while telling the gentile woman that said even the dogs get the crumbs "I have seen no GREATER faith than this"
      - from this we know that there are different levels of faith---WORKS bring faith to perfection - notice the word PERFECT
      2 Tim 3:16-17 - All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
      17 That the MAN OF GOD may be PERFECT, thoroughly furnished unto all good works
      NOTICE - that the "man of God" (SAVED) may be PERFECT.
      James 2 is about getting the believer to perform good works; BUT works can NEVER be a part of salvation, that free to those who have believed/TRUSTED the GOSPEL.

Can the kind of faith [can that faith save him?] that does not produce works of obedience to God, justify before God. His answer that a faith that does not produce works of obedience is not justifying faith.

They THINK they are saved (at least partially) because of their Good works. Humans have absolutely ZERO good works for Salvation. We cannot! 1 sin would send us to hell . That's why it a FREE GIFT. ITS IMPOSSIBLE FOR ANY HUMAN TO EARN IT. Calvinists are deceived deceivers and I don't t even think they know it.

    Faith without works is dead, James 2: 14-26, but to him that worketh not, Romans 4:5-7, these scriptures are the same, once you are born again you're a different type of tree, James is saying you should be helping others as a result of your salvation NOT to stay saved, Paul is saying But to him that TRUST in the Power of the CROSS and not our work, Titus 3:5.

      Bill Erickson Jesus is talking about Satan the tree that produces bad fruit, The Holy Ghost is our guide who helps us to understand what is needed to walk in the light, thats why we are to walk after Spirit, Just tell the unsaved the GOOD NEWS (GOSPEL) we need to get our minds off of ourselves and focus on sharing Gospel, how can we spread the good news if we're always feeling condemned? worrying weather or not we're working hard enough to make it in, we need to practice Gal 5:22, and the good work of spreading the Gospel will fall into place, Jesus became a propitiation (SUBSTITUTE FOR OUR SINS), what's happening is people are trying live every Doctrine that don't belong to them like the tithing lie Church leaders use to scare the congregation into giving, like Malachi 3:10, i guess you believe thats for Gentiles also.

You have a problem understanding the true Gospel, when the true Gospel is preached religious people think we're telling them it's OK to sin and that's ridiculous, ROMANS 6:1-2, since I can detect a deep religious overtone in your post/response let me see if I can help you get a little closer to the true GOSPEL, When we commit willful sins we work against supernatural laws that governs the way God created the universe, when we do positive things positive return to us, Ecclesiastics 11:1, When we sin willfully we sin against our own bodies and it can kill us, or God will cut short the life of a believer who don't repent (TURN AWAY FROM) what you're doing so that we please God, JOHN 5:16-17, WHY ??? Because God loves of UNCONDITIONALLY because of what Jesus did on the Cross, WHY ??? Because, JOHN 3:18, Religious people keep their minds on sinning and being a worm in the dirt, rather than being a true servant of God and helping others because we're new creatures NOW.

      John JHR Russell they think since they produce fruit that gives them righteousness to get into heaven. That not straight a NARROW gate i guarantee that. Its faith alone.

      Romans 11:6 - And if by grace, then [is it] no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if [it be] of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.
      Galatians 2:21 - I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness [come] by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
      Why think being righteous of ourselves will save us? THATS a joke! That means your giving yourself the glory! Lord Jesus Christ deserves the glory for what he did not of our self-pride-righteousness.
      Dividing the word of God is the true gospel: salvation is left by itself. And service is left by itself. Totally separated they dont gp hand and hand mix intertwine or anything. That would be a mix drink of destruction. Lol. This verse is proof of dividing the bible correctly.

      Tim Demarco They forget that Jesus said he is the true vine, I've never seen an apple tree with apples straining and grunting and working hard to become the sweetest apple on the tree, it just hangs there and trust that the tree will soak up the rich nutrients from the soil and the tree will lovingly distribute those nutrients evenly to every branch so that when it's bitten into we love the tree it came from.

    Is it biblical for a person to mope all the time he is unsaved
    My husband was saved 25 years ago yet for the last 20 doubted his salvation
    He believes smoking cigetattes against his faith is causing him to doubt or proves he is a reprobate. Only when he feels the holy spirit or joy once in a while he feels saved, but more and more rareily. Thanks

    Repent doesn’t mean “turn from sin”. it means to grieve and or change your mind.
    “Turning from sin” is a work according to the bible.
    The verse that comes to mind is:
    Jonah 3:10
    And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.

    2 corinthians 5:1 (new creature when we are saved)
    1 john was written why?

    Love Yankee, but he's extreme on this one. A good tree sometimes has bad fruit. If our lifestyle is habitual, willful sinning, that is good evidence that someone is not, in fact, born again. I disagree with Lordship salvation and Calvinism with every fiber of my being. However, 1 John absolutely describes the difference between the unbeliever and the believer.

    This doctrine is terribly flawed! Jesus said by their fruit you shall know them. Paul wrote in Galatians that the fruit of the true Christian believer is the fruit of the Holy Spirit, that is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. And in Hebrews chapter 12 it is written without HOLINESS no one will see the Lord. And by the way, when a sinner come to Christ for salvation, the sinner receives Jesus Christ as LORD and SAVIOR. Jesus is always LORD and SAVIOR. A sinner does not accept Christ only as Savior, but as LORD and SAVIOR. Jesus is LORD!

      Levy Belaro This is a false doctrine. David, who 100% was saved, commited adultery and got a woman pregnant and then killed the womans husband to hide the pregnancy. That is not the fruit of the spirit and yet, he's saved. You cannot know if someone is saved 100% no matter what.
      A muslim can have many great works and pray daily etc and still they will go to hell. You see? You cannot know, you can only speculate based on their behavior at best.

      The holiness passage you used simply means that nobody will see the "Lord THROUGH us" without holiness. The believer gets Jesus's righteousness imputed to them. (Rom 4:6 KJV).

      Without HOLINESS no one will see the LORD. The fruit of the Holy Spirit manifests in the lives of TRUE believers. True Christians who truly and sincerely love and follow Jesus Christ will obey the Lord's commands. And one of the Lord's commands is BE HOLY FOR I AM HOLY. If anyone claims he is saved because he "believe" or "trust" MENTALLY the Lord Jesus Christ, BUT still living in sexual immorality, fornication, stealing, lying, masturbation, porn watching, adultery, coarse joking, drunkenness, man to man and woman to woman sexual relationship (sodomy), and all other sins recorded in the BIBLE, then such person fools and deceive himself. Christ command is REPENT! Peter and Paul preached REPENTANCE. Twice in Acts, Peter preached REPENT!

      there is a lot correct with your statement. For example "be ye holy for I am holy" is written to ALREADY SAVED people. so yes, the already saved person is exhorted to live holy.
      As for repent, cheribum is correct. your definition of repent seems to be off. it means to "change your mind".
      Did you know the bible says GOD REPENTED several times??? Do you think God turned from His sins?
      Look the context in Acts from Peter. He was talking to "UNbelieving jews" who had just crucified their messiah.
      Peter told them they needed to "change their minds" (repent) about who Jesus really was and be converted (believe on Him) for the forgiveness of sins.
      I have a paper on the word repent that goes into greater detail if you would like it.
      Also, your definition of believe seems to be off too. I have a paper on that as well.

      The Lord will raise a signal flag to show the nations that *he is gathering together again the SCATTERED PEOPLE OF ISRAEL and Judah and bringing them back from the four corners of the earth.*
      The Gospel was Preached to ALL that needed to hear it before 70AD.
      That generation needed to hear it because of the impending judgement that was about to take place in 70AD.
      You've probably heard that the gospel will be proclaimed to the world and then the end shall come, right?
      It wasn't talking about an end of the earth but rather the end of the Old Covenant world.
      It all happened in the first century and came to an end in 70AD.
      The gospel was preached in ALL the world and the end of the Old Covenant world did come in 70AD... Read 100% proof below...

      If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and *which was preached to every creature which is under heaven;* whereof I Paul am made a minister;
      The mission was fully accomplished, the gospel did go out to the old covenant world and everyone that needed to hear it did and then the end came in their generation in 70AD. That's when God destroyed the temple with animal sacrifice, Jerusalem and all that wouldn't let go of the law.
      I believe that was the final judgement and only judgement referred to in the New Testament.

      Dennis Nowland *Here are some true tests of faith and serious questions you should ask yourself, that can prove wether or not you have likely believed the gospel or not!*
      *Are you truly resting in the finished work of Christ?*
      *Do you truly believe Jesus took away the sins of the world?*
      *Do you truly believe Jesus took away and purged your sins?*
      Or do you have a conscience of sins?
      *Have you ceased from working for your salvation?*
      Or do you go about trying to establish your own righteousness?
      *Do you believe Jesus when He said it is finished?*
      Or do you doubt Jesus and think you must do something?
      *Do you have full assurance of your salvation?*
      *Do you have full assurance of your salvation... especially when you do sin?*
      The answer to these questions can be very revealing and should serve as a wake-up call for many professing Christians!
      *It's a total lie and very deceptive to think that a changed life is evidence of salvation!*
      *Unbelievers have a changed life all the time, so that proves absolutely nothing!*
      Sin is bad, it's always bad and there's many bad consequences in this life for sin.
      But sinning does actually prove we qualify to be saved by Jesus because He didn't come for the righteous but for sinners only.
      *A true indicator that you are saved is that you are truly resting in the finished work of Christ and know you are saved and don't doubt it, especially when you do sin!*
      Believing is more than simply believing the facts of the gospel, it's also believing what Jesus actually accomplished by and through the gospel!
      Most that claim to be Christian *(like you)* believe the facts of the gospel, as far as the death, burial and resurrection but they don't believe what Jesus accomplished! They don't believe He actually took away the sins of the world, as John the Baptist said He would!
      *They do not believe He took away their sins and they do not rest in His finished work!*
      John 1:29
      The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, *Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.*
      *Other indicators that you are likely saved, that come along with resting in what Christ did are, ceasing from working for your salvation, having full assurance of your salvation, not having a conscience of sins and not going about trying to establish your own righteousness!*
      Most professing Christians *(like you)* have a false peace that they get from doing works and turning from sin but that cannot save and is very deceptive. But that false peace is usually short lived, at least if they are honest with themselves and are not deceiving themselves.
      *Ceasing our works and resting in Jesus' finished work go hand in hand!*
      Hebrews 4:9-11
      *9There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.* 10For *he that is entered into his rest,* he also hath *ceased from his own works,* as God did from his. 11Let us labour therefore to *enter into that rest,* lest any man fall after the same example of *unbelief.*
      *Believers should not have a conscience of sins, if they believe their sins have been dealt with and purged!*

      2For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers *ONCE PURGED should have had no more conscience of sins.*
      *The blood of bulls and goats could not purge sin! But Jesus did purge our sins!*

      *These are true barometers that can show if you are likely saved or not!*
      *So test yourself and make sure you are even in the faith! That would be, faith that's really in Him and not in yourself!*
