BMX Basics: How-To Bunnyhop

- The bunnyhop is one of the most basic tricks in BMX, but it is also one of the most important moves to learn. The bunnyhop is the foundation for many other tricks and having a solid hop in your skillset brings it all together. Mike Barrow from the Dan's Comp team shows you how, with some added insight to get those extra inches out of your hop. Practice is key. Now, hop to it!
Best tutorial so far. No other tutorial told me that I needed to “Push my feet into the pedals but at the same time lift up”. After hearing this in your video I am able to lift the back end up. Now I just need to combine the motions to do a complete bunny hop. Just got my First BMX bike yesterday so hopefully I can master the Bunny Hop in the next few days
update?
Aaron Kyro from Braille Skateboarding in a BMX universe ! Thanks a bunch man !
Thanks for recommending using my sister to jump over now I’m the only child in the family! Thanks Dans Comp!!
That’s the best tutorial so far I’ve seen and it worked
yeh all the other tutorials say it takes ten mins, bullshit
I like that you recommend doing the first bit over and over! I had it in my head that I wanted them to look like the hops in the end of the video, and that was disheartening when I couldn't do it
It's definitely easier to learn it in steps and your hop will naturally evolve into a more traditional bunnyhop, from what I've found. Thanks! - Mike
@@danscompvideos thanks for your reply. It literally took me 8years to learn. And out of the blue last weekend, it just happened! Only little ones but definitely front then back wheel up! Looking forward to the weekend!
This was the most helpful tutorial I’ve seen
This is why we bought the bike from danscomp!!! Thanks again guys. Just received delivery last week!!! I’m the old guy who never rode before.. wiped out hard trying a day one manual… lol… but I’m still alive… love this tutorial. I’m practicing baby wheelie and baby endo… as described in this video. Already feel more comfortable day 4 then I did first day. Gonna take some time for me to handle this.. super dope video and check me out live on twitch tv…. Thanks 🎉
Thanks. now I learned how to pull up my back tire . btw great tutorial 😀👍
amazing guide. best one i ve seen. i started bmx yesterday and landed my first bunny hop today :) so excited
I can finally lift both of my tires 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 thank youuuu
Great tutorial!! No bullshit. Straight to the point.
Aye man thanks I just got a bmx bike because I totaled my car and started trying and nobody else explained it well then I watched your video and hoped a curb on my 3rd try thank you
You should make a foot jam tail whip video! You explained this much better than most could
Thanks! I think we can make that happen in the future.
Finally a good tutorial
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
BEST TUTORIAL!!
this dude looks like aaron kyro for real
Jemka 28 YESSS BRO THE BMX VERSION
Long lost brothers...lol
You're the best at teaching for me.....i have looked many vid like this..but this is the best...
(Sorry for bad english)
thanks for the help!
I still don’t think I will be able to do it bc I’m really light weight but This is by far the best bunny hop tutorial I’ve ever seen
You got it! Although muscle helps to hop really high, it's more technique than anything.
2:35 oof
Good vid
Most helpful vid yet
Thanks man, good video
good advice I KNOW HOW TO BUNNY HOP NOW thx
Bunny hop is so nice to do
Bruh. GREAAAAT video you got a sub from me
So I can understand knowing how a manual works could help with bunny hop. My first day with bike I couldn’t jump the curb. Couple weeks later I’m jumping small buckets… not 100% but I do land back tire first sometimes. It feels good. My question is because I’m able to jump little taller objects should I keep trying to stack that target and keep trying to jump higher? Would this naturally develop my form and technique… or don’t think about jumping higher and continue to really focus on technique? If that makes sense any tips highly appreciated. Thanks again
great video
very good tutorial !
I keep j hoping and lifting the tires at the same time, any tips to help??
Man this vid helped a ton
You are a wonderful coach !
I learn bunny hop from this video
wow amazing
i suport you beacuse this does work now im amazing thanks
Thanks
EXCELLENT
Best video on how to bunnyhop I've ever seen. Now, does handlebar height affect the ease of pulling the bars up? Or top load stem vs front load stem?
i orderd 2 sticker packs and it charged my card twice. i only re ived one sticker pack!!.. and why isnt anything in stock
Ever since they went bankrupt they’ve been super goofy. I ordered parts from them and didn’t receive them for 2 months. I got some parts on Monday from US Source BMX and they sent it from the UK and it’s being delivered to Los Angeles tomorrow. Until they fix they’re shit im done with vans
@@mikhailvizcarra2526 alright, i just cant believe it. danscomp was everybodys go to for parts ive got everything strictly from them for years now, i dont have a local bmx shop either so it kinda sucks lol.
Brazy MD buy from source bmx or empire they have the best customer service
@@mikhailvizcarra2526 alright thanks
Just got back into bmxing im finding all my bunny hops are whips, any tips to keep straight
Ur Probebly pulling to hard with one hand so it pulls unevenly and you don't land straight. Thats what I used to do.
Would it help to put your feet on the back 2 stunt pegs (if you have them) if your struggling to lift up the back wheel?
When I wheelie I ride on the back tire but I keep losing balance and leaning towards the left
Cruzin down the street in my six four
What bike do you use
I dont know but back wheel was suoer ez to lift but I dont understund how to lift front
Should I buy from dans comp
Wow yur so late at this vid lol
Why not? Haha. If you have any questions let us know. There was a bit of a rough patch while the company moved ownership, but that's way past us now. Better than ever!
I got my Sunday blue print in 2 days and I am in dc time to wait till x mas to get it
So when i pull up all i do is point toes and put pressure and kick backwards/up
Yes, to start off with. This should get you far enough to where both wheels are in the air. After a while of using this technique you will learn that you don't need to necessarily point your toes down as it will all come natural. This is the same technique I learned with and I've taught others to do. Hope it helps! - Mike
This dude is the Aaron Kyro of bmx
Does the gear ratio matter in bunny hop?
I can lift my front tire and back tire. But I can’t do a bunny hop. Pls help me ! I’m on my 3rd day practice but no luck
If you can lift up the back end you should be ready to bunnyhop as that is the hardest part. The video explains how you can start combining lifting the front wheel up and then the back. It will come to you just keep with it!
I ordered a bike to The fe and now it’s kk back order???
i just need to know how to bhop longer
I'm definitely bunny hope over my little syster........
Guys I wanna order a kink curb 2018 from danscomp. I'm wondering if it's safe to order. I also heard something about them closing so I'm wondering
Did you order it?
An how to for longer fakies?
ElJhonne not sure if this is relevant anymore but I found that looking at the stem while in the fakie works
why does my feet keep slipping off when i jump
You need to scoop your feet and have a pair of gripy pedals
I’m a really scrawny 4 and a half foot kid. Does this have any affect on hops?
Nah im pretty scrawny too didnt think i would be able to ride bmx but i learned 180s just dont give up👍
I'm a scrawny 5'10 guy and it's all about technique. I've seen kids do them.
So I’m guessing danscomp is falling apart? I ordered like 4 days ago and it’s still processing and then it’s mid day and customer support is closed? For the passed three days? Not satisfied at all. Very inconvenient for me spending $519.00
Can you start selling the volume broc bike?
Who here just completely skipped the hole of the first way to bunny hop (I did and it worked it just took more time to learn)

Help me get a bmx I am a number one fan since day 1
cool x2
cool
Your little sister sent me
I tryed and my foot slipped and the sharp part of the pedal got slammed in my shin and it’s bleeding 😭
Zacis Back21 get vans best shoes for grip on the pedals
The problem I have is that I can’t even lift the front wheel as high as I need to... (not because I don’t have the strength, but because I feel like I’m going to fall back)
Giveaway 🤣
How do we stop delaying when pushing the bikd?
BmxDrifts23 pull back more?
Oh okay will try
BmxDrifts23 pulling back wont it be like a manual ? And the front wheel wont reach my waist , or i will lop out ?
When I was a kid learning how to bunny hop was the greatest thing ever (then there was girls of course lol)
left ear has left the chat
cool x3
This guy looks like Ovechkin
I think this is the most least condescending video ive watched so far. Lol
I watch these even though I already know to do these lol
Bars
Your little sister 😂
How many teeth does ur sproket have 28??
Do you guys even check your email I sent a email over a month ago and never got a reply
A bunnyhop is too dangerous. You shouldn't be teaching kids that.
Supernoob Smith dude they asked stfu
😂 aaron kyro of bmx
Dont know how to spell his name
hndhs dhdhhd I thought the exact same thing
Just cant seem to get the pushing bars forwards down. Over a week watching tutorials and practicing. At this point im pretty sure im stuck doing bad habbits now from watching so many videos. At this point im on the verge of quiting
I try to push forwards and nothing happens at all it's like trying to push through a wall. Go to push and just feels stuck
Thanks
