      The weird thing was his prime was so early compared to everyone else. He was Evertons best player at 16 and hit his prime by like 21. The sad part was his career slowed down a lot by 27ish which is usually when the normal guys hit their prime. He was just an absolute superstar, the best English forward of my generation for sure

      It is totally unbelievable, but I can understand why. It is because of the trajectory of C Ronald's career. Robert started as the better and bigger talent.

    • @AdamSmith75th
      @AdamSmith75th 2 года назад +12

      @@ekwejohnson6965 No I think Rooney at 16-20 was a far bigger talent than Ronaldo was. At 18, Rooney was playing at a world class level. Rooney’s career is really complicated. The difference between Ronaldo and Rooney was Ronaldo’s total unwavering dedication to his lifestyle. Ronaldo lived every single day with freakish precision and micromanagement over his health and body. He went on to become consistently world-class day in day out. From 16-26 Rooney was at his best, and he really was one of the best, but he didn’t maintain the consistent lifestyle needed and didn’t look after himself nearly as well as he should have. Plus he had far more injuries and off the pitch distractions.
      Years ago, around 2006, I remember reading an article from a top-flight physiotherapist who said that due to Rooneys body type, he will show significant physical decline each year after the age of 30. I remember completely disagree and I thought he couldn’t be more wrong seeing how great it really was at the time. Turns out he was absolutely spot on. I don’t think Rooney had much in him physically past 31-32, but Ronaldo at 37 still clearly has fantastic physique and it’s why he continue to play top-flight football.

    He made the team play better towards the latter part of his Utd career. I haven't seen anyone else dictate the game from the #10 position like that. Instances where the ball should have gone sideways and backwards instead finds its way to the winger in space because his workrate gives the midfielders another option to keep the attack going, and his long passing was always excellent.

    even as a city fan what a player rooney was so underappreciated in this country yes hes made mistakes but he was made to play football and no doubt one of the best players to grace the pl not shocked that he mentioned tevez as his favourite strike partner

    The FA cup final of 2005, where we hit the pole twice and absolutely battered a very very good arsenal team, just happens to be my first game as a dedicated Man United fan. I was 12 then, I am almost 30 now, United through and through, through thick or thin.
