I knew you would like it super under rated because of its 11 years in development and only releasing for Xbox 360 and pc , it runs on the doom 3 engine
@@alexshvartz6232 I knew I would like it too because I played it on launch and liked it. It's not exactly underground lol

"Prey will continue"
That line brakes my heart every time
I know man, I know...
The ironic thing is Prey 2006 still has a more satisfying ending than Prey 2017. The main villain is defeated, the Sphere is destroyed, and Tommy goes into the greater universe a hero.

Don't blame Prey 2017's devs, it's a great game, blame Bethesda.
They bought the name "Prey" and when Prey 2 was cancelled they didn't want their investment to go to waste, so they slapped the name on a random game.
@@ADUSN It's a cool, snazzy title and you might as well use what you have, I guess.
Finnaly someone knows this
It's sad this had to be explained in the comments, and not the "analysis".
Looks like this guy ain't for me.
The reboot was made as a spiritual successor to System Shock. That doesnt excuse the name at all but I enjoyed it. Im not about to change anybody's mind on it though
I hate to defend Bethesda but it was actually the developer who made the call: there is an interview where Arkane's founder Raphael Colantonio says that picking a good name is hard, and "Prey" was available and they were both sci-fi stories, so they used Prey. So yeah, it really is quite annoying for Prey 2006 fans.
Here is the interview:
www.gamespot.com/articles/prey-dev-explains-why-its-named-after-an-unrelated/1100-6442447/
prey 2 was canceled because humanhead refused to get eaten by bethesda, so bethesda essentially starved and killed the game. they kept lowering paychecks, they kept increasing work time, they kept demanding changes, etc etc. Bethesda wanted to consume human head studios and humanhead resisted, so they were starved, strangled and mangled till they could no longer sustain themselves. And instead of giving in and being bought by bethesda, humanhead chose to die rather then be a slave to a faceless corperation. Quite noble if you ask me. The mostly finnished game is floating somewhere in some dude's harddrive, so maybe we will one day see what we never got to see.
hipe er I really hope I can see it one day, I’ve always loved this game and I’m one of the lucky ones to still have prey 06 on steam
Source?
They successed
Human head went bankrupt and employees found new studio, Bethesda bought the studio
@@tomasmyskin i don't remember specificly but the source i read says due to experience of human head with id tech engine, Bethesda wanted to merge the studio with id software for developing Doom at time still in development hell
Yet another reason to hate bethesda
Prey 2017 is just fantastic. It is unfortunate that Bethesda named it Prey, because not only is it not at all Prey 2006, but it is really shortchanging the game. Arkane Studios have always been forthright about their games being spiritual successors to older IP's. Prey 2017 lives up to the legend that System Shock left behind and then creates its own legend in the process. Prey 2006 is also fantastic. It came around a time when we got Half-Life 2, Doom 3, Quake 4, and F.E.A.R. around the same couple of years and Prey stands out as really technically sound. I encourage you to not have any resentment towards Arkane about the cancellation of Prey 2, and the new Prey being a completely different experience. Bethesda is solely to blame, Prey 2017 is one of the best games to come around in years.
I need to play the fear game.
I don't frigging care! I will blame *_both_* Bethesda and Arkane for this blunder.
And no, there is no way in hell to me to like of "Prey 2017".
@@rosesareredbutzerglingssti9290 Arkane wanted to call it Neuroshock but Bethesda forced them to call it Prey because in two years they were gonna lose the rights to prey and they were still bitter at human head for not totally bending over by giving them the sourcecode. The director of “prey 2017” was angry over this and left shortly after the game launched
@@Jim-iz3oy Interesting. I don't knew that. What is the source of this info?
@@rosesareredbutzerglingssti9290 It’s common knowledge. "Ultimately, where we ended up was that it was a cool name that fit the vibe of the game that they're making, so let's go with that, and own it.” - Pete Hines VP of marketing at Bethesda.
The title was changed during the late stages of development.
The game’s director Raphael Colantonio stated that Bethesda “asked” them to use the prey brand despite the game being known as neuroshock internally at Arkane which was his idea. He left Arkane a few months after “Prey 2017” launched and started a new studio with a bunch of disgruntled ex-Arkane/Bethesda Devs call Wolfeye Studios. They are currently working on a game called Weird West.
"Why is Prey 2017 called Prey?"
Prey 2017 devs : "We asked the same question?"
The name "Prey" actually fit the 2006 game because the aliens were harvesting humans (and other races iirc) to eat and experiment on them. The canned sequel pulls the switcheroo: Now you're the hunter and the aliens are the eponymous prey. 2017 Prey's title was supposed to be Typhon. Naming it that way would have caused less confusion and less anger directed towards that game. Something so banal like the title of a game is surprisingly important for its success. (or game companies should simply cut the crap and stop reusing the title of the first game for a reboot/sequel)
Some guy is going around saying the game was supposed to be called Neuroshock and it sounds cooler imo and easier to understand.
@@acewolfgang276 I believe that was one of the devs
...typhon?
I put off buying Prey 2017 until just last week because I thought it was going to be like the original Prey. Don't get me wrong, the original still impresses me today with some of its tricks, but I felt it was way, way too gimmicky for my taste and I just never enjoyed it.
In other words they shot themselves in the foot in at least two ways by using the Prey name. Bunch of idiots they are.
@@acewolfgang276 Existential Minds would be a good name for 2017
I agree NOW that Prey 2017 doesnt deserve the Prey name since its basically a totally different game comoared to the original. But idk I tendnto overlook the title and just focus on whats on the disc. Both games were great in their own way.
I read somewhere Pray 2017 tries too hard to be System Shock or something similar. Idk.
Edit: I had played prey 2017. Legit good game.
Prey 2017 was a deliberate fuck you to Prey's makers
I bought my boxed copy a year ago, CD key registered on Steam just fine.
@@DoomguyIsGrinningAtYou. That's a common dig at the 2017 Prey for just being in the same genre of games as System Shock. Like, for example, complaining about Quake for "trying too hard to be Doom." While _technically_ correct it's unfair and dismissive of the game in question.
Eyes Of A Puppet The problem with Prey 2017 isn’t that it’s like System Shock. The problem is it’s a bad System Shock game, with terrible writing and boring worldbuilding.
While I agree with the points in the video, I believe the title is a bit too harsh on Arkane’s 2017 project. I like to refer to Prey 2017 as Neuroshock, as that’s one of the titles that seemed best suited during development and by fans, but Bethesda used the Prey IP to boost marketing. It really is an incredible game in its own right, though it has nothing to do with the original aside from Bethesda’s greedy bullshit tactics. So yeah, Prey =/= Neuroshock.
EDIT: As of NoClip's Prey 2017 documentary, Colantonio cleaned up the reasoning behind the name, so I've corrected my comment. Main point still stands though, Bethesda basically forced Arkane into the name for IP and marketing reasons.
*PREACH!*
Neuroshock would've been a better name. I do see that it would be easier to market Prey than Neuroshock but still
Eh, if they were to call it Prey, why couldn't they call it Prey: Call of the Typhon?
@Maintenance Renegade They could have had called it any other way. Neuroshock was just a working title.
I know I'm a bit late for this but wow, this makes me want to hate Bethesda even more.
Neuroshock is a much better title.
It was such a stupid idea to call Neuroshock Prey, Bethesda just wanted to keep that IP and they used it solely for that, no other reason, It's shenanigans. The original Prey should be Re-released too, it's a solid ass game.
"Existential Minds" would be a cooler name for Prey 2017
@@hithedestroyer4065 Nah."Xenoshock" or something similar would sound more interesting.
Not that I would waste my time playing playing that turd even if it had a different name, but _anything_ is preferable to seeing that game using the name "Prey".
@@rosesareredbutzerglingssti9290 So you hate a game because you don't like the genre? Fun fact; If you don't like the genre of a game don't play it or get hired by IGN. Just because you don't like a game doesn't mean it's shit. It was actually about time we get a good System Shock-type game. You sound like someone who doesn't like Pokémon but plays it and then complains that it's Pokémon.
@@tazamane9705 We already have the Bioshock series -- so who needs a stupid game featuring something so ridiculous like amorphous, shapeshifting walking tar blobs turning themselves into people, trashbins and coffee cups as antagonists? Your "oh, so preciousss!" System Shock wannabe is unworth of being called a "spiritual successor" of the series.
@Johnny Cab Maybe that crap is good to you. But to me? It sucks.
Prey 2 should be brought back. It's just too cool to disappear.
We should start a petition, and get id to make it... Maybe in the petition we could get them to hire the original team that made it
I never understood why Prey 2 got so hyped up as automatically going to be a great game based on literally nothing but some very early tech.
@@Porky7805 There was a demo for the game and it looked pretty impressive for a game made back in 2011.
Jarek: "Prey 2017 is a fantastic game"
Also Jarek: "Fuck Prey 2017"
He also referred Prey game, and clarified Prey 1 by saying, "you know, the good one".
He also said he hates immersive sims.
Pretty funny considering he has not even played the game lmao.
I'm sad that Prey 2 was never finished. It looked so awesome, like an FPS version of Anachronox
This game is also available on the digital store on Xbox 360, and also is backwards compatible with the Xbox One.
@Jeffrey Haines Probably the same as it does on a base Xbox one. If there is any boost it would be definitely the same as the One X at least. It has 360 caps for fps and resolution, unless it got an update for the One X. Which it probably did not.
It wouldn't be like a PC where you can change all that stuff.
Will always be bitter that we never got that Human Head Prey 2, that game was pretty much the benchmark for next-gen when I was in my midteens. The shady stuff Bethesda did to that game will always sting.
Happens to a lot of games that get cancelled. People's imaginations create games that don't exist and make them masterpieces.
Look at any discussion about Star Wars 1313 or Scalebound for examples.
Don't forget the scrapped 1998 build as well.
Whilst I disagree with your harsh treatment of Prey 2017, I do agree that the naming is absolutely correct. It should not have been forced by Bethesda to wear that title. Prey 2017 is an absolute beautiful experience and was my GOTY for that year.
Prey 2017 sucks ass hahahaha

2006 Prey was so fucking good. It's visually stunning and introduced a lot of really innovative gameplay mechanics. One of the most underrated shooters from that era.
Hells to the yes. I played it like 3x by 2010. What a great time for FPS. We got Prey, Half Life 2, DOOM 3, Quake 4, Halo 3, and Dead Space. It was just a non-stop bonanza for top-shelf FPS.
@@pottingsoil723 fr those were the good days of games when almost every game was good
Army of two games pretty please
Hey Jarek, I have a game I think you would like, it's called hidden and dangerous two(HD2). Its world war 2 tactical shooter. Now I know you might be rolling your eyes over that description but trust me its fun. Its about these SAS operarives who have to venture behind enemy lines and perform tasks, like sabotage, assasination, cause general chaos for the Nazis and Italians who are the villain.
Now Pros: It has really great atmosphere, production quality, fun fights, and has sort of RPG elements where your chosen characters might get boost in ther stats after each mission if they survive, and an emersive soundtrack.
Cons: key mapping is archaic, it was a experimental so that had a lot of mechanism that are hard to grasp at first, models don't look that great but the overall atmosphere of the game is still nice enough to enjoy.
Now if I havent sold you on the things I mentioned above, still want you to atleast give it a try, or have a fun stream session
Hidden and Dangerous 2 was a rough gem. Every mission felt like something taken out of a 50s-70s ww2 movie.
Yes definitely one of my favorite space-themed/FPS games of all time. Gravity manipulation, miniature planets preserved in a pocket dimension and those fantastical weapons. Some heartbreaking moments still stay fresh in memory. Even the great Black Mesa took a note from Prey's final boss in its Xen final boss design.
I really miss games like this. Quality not quantity! Too many games stretch their runtime way too long and end up repeating themselves. The story, dialogue and game mechanics of Prey (2006) were rock solid and didn't outstay their welcome.
This really was a hidden gem back in the day when it came out I remember being really excited when I found out what the story was about. Sucks it never got a proper sequel... Prey to me was like a mix of Half-Life and Doom just because of all the alien weaponry you use and the enemies, but you had a speaking protagonist with Tommy...
Yes that's why I loved it and wish they made a prey 2, to continue the story and expend the gamplay

Prey 2006 was amazing! I remember getting the collectors edition back in the day.
The PS3 was notoriously difficult to program for. That could be the reason Prey didn't get a port.
I really loved both games, even though they are very different
I wish the sequel had came out :(
I remember picking this up in my local second hand game shop in 2011/12 and make a weekend of it i loved it!
And please do a F.E.A.R review!
As someone who didn't play Prey 1:
I did not know they were related. Even tho they have the same name, the two look nothing like eachother.
Prey 2017 is amazing. But it really should have had a different name.
I think someone said the original name would have been similar to SystemShock. Or something that has a Shock on its name. Someone said Neuroshock and Typhon would've been the original name for Prey (2017)
this game still plays, looks and sounds good. i also really liked the native american lore thing. though i still like the new Prey i would have loved to play Prey 2. great video.
I still think the original prey has a better story and game play with cool ideas and monster. Imagine where the story and expending gamplay would of done
I wouldn’t mind seeing a Prey remaster at some point in the future. Just a slight facelift and some performance buffs maybe
Man I was about to start typing: Prey 2017 is a fantastic game, but shouldn't be called "Prey", it should be called something like "XENOSHOCK". And that was before the part, when you say the exact same thing. Wow. Good job, sir. Agreed on all points.

How do you install the abandonware version? I've been wanting to play Prey (2006) for some time but never have due to the whole 'obsolete PC copies' thing, but now I'm installing it via abandonware and it's asking me for a CD key.
did you get it to work im installing it as well?
@@ThePunisher2346 Yeah I've managed to get it running but not to sit down and play it yet though.
-I recommend downloading it from myabandonware.com so not to worry about the whole torrents thing, it's overall just tidier to work with.
-Create a folder somewhere on your computer that's not going to be disturbed. I created a folder in my steam directory with 'steamapps' and called it 'Abandonware Games', and in that folder I created another one called 'Prey 2006'. (I've heard if you have either 2006 or 2017 Prey in the steamapps folder, one will overwrite the other and erase it completely).
-Unzip all the .iso files themselves that you got in the download and into your Prey 2006 folder. Then install the patches also available on myabandoneware.com on the Prey 2006 download page.
-Open up the setup.exe found in your Prey folder and go through with the installation, it will eventually ask for a CD Key. In the comments section for Prey 2006 on myabandonware there's a comment that gives a CD Key which I used and worked.
-Once the game is done installing, open up your Steam library and add it as a Non-Steam Game. Hit the 'Browse' button and navigate to your Prey folder that you made and add the PREY.exe file.
-If you want to go a step further and make it more polished, you can rename it to 'Prey (2006)' by right clicking it in your Steam library and opening the 'Properties' tab. You can also add a Steam grid banner and box art by searching on steamgriddb.com and saving the images to another folder that won't get disturbed. I also made two extra folders in my steam directory for box art and grid banners but anywhere in your Prey 2006 folder is also fine.
Do all that and you'll be all set. I also recommend getting Steam's new library UI overhaul if you haven't gotten it already. Go to Steam's 'Settings' tab up at the top of Steam and look for the option to accept the beta branch, then restart Steam.

Everyone can be different when it comes to FOVs so it may not be an issue for you, but it's something worth looking out for especially in Prey since there's a lot going on in terms of first-person perspective.
When i was a kid this game came out i saw it in a Game informer magazine and i always remembered when you see the Grandpa all messed up later in the game and that stayed with me but i never got the game till it’s name was used in the 2017 and this was brought up so i started looking for this one and remembered it so yeah it’s quite memorable.

Darkness 1 still has visual glitches ...
You should review Painkiller it was one of my favorite fps games as a kid and still is.
I think one of the reasons why, Prey (2006) was never ported to the PS3 was due to the Cell Processor. Most 3rd party devs had a difficult time developing and porting games to the PS3. Also, PS3 hardware was fairly new around that time.
i really enjoyed this game when i was younger on 360 replayed it a lot just felt it never got the sequel it deserved
Prey 2006 is a unique twist on a story-driven Doom-like experience, one that combines over-the-top shooting with beautiful gravity manipulation and portal physics.
Prey 2017 is arguably a respectable call-back to System Shock 2, with the architectural art style of Bioshock, Souls-like level design of Super Metroid, and the sandbox feel of Deus Ex and Half Life generously sprinkled on top.
Both games are underrated gems in my eyes.
I’m super pissed I didn’t catch you playing this. This IS my favorite FPS.
New prey was to the old prey what cloverfield lane was to the cloverfield franchise. No reason to steal the name, completely different project.
Very well put! 10 Cloverfield Lane is one of my favorite movies too, but there was no reason to use the Cloverfield name.
I bought a Steam key for Prey (2006) on Kinguin. It looked like there were more keys available when I made my purchase, but that was almost 2 years ago. There probably aren't any keys left.
There are still keys! I bought one yesterday.
Like manken said, keys are still available. Got mine at G2A.
I absolutely loved Prey 2017 and I think it's an amazing game and would've been worthy of spawning a franchise of its own... had it not been called Prey and pissed people off. But to be honest, I can't say Prey 2006 even needs a sequel - the ending was not exactly a cliffhanger with unresolved twist, just a hint at a greater universe playing out in the background to wonder at. I just find it fucking stupid that Prey is not available to a greater audience, which it absolutely deserves. Of the AAA games on the Doom 3 engine, Prey is easily the most interesting. As much as I like Quake 4 (for whatever reason), it can't hold a candle to Prey. Riddick is cool too, but still pretty conventional. Doom 3 is pretty good for a while, but some sequences really overstay their welcome.
oof. I was just enjoying playing prey 2017.
I still have this game installed in Windows 10. Had bought it online and got the box and CD for a ridiculously low amount. Also, have the officially released NoCD patch.
I hadn't played for a while because the resolution was a bit weird and had to play in windowed mode. With that trick, I am reminded of how awesome the original graphics were. Thank you
We have such similar taste in games that I'm genuinely a bit worried lmao. Fucking loved all the games you mentioned in this vid, Prey 2006 and The Darkness were the shit \m/
The reason it didn't get ported to the PS3 is due to the vastly different architecture of the console. The Mac port was most likely easy to do because they planned for it, and they had a studio that ported it which was experienced with its architecture. Developers weren't used to the PS3's architecture until years after its release. A good example is the original Saints Row released in 2006 and was planned to have a PS3 port but it was cancelled because it would've been too expensive and would've taken too long to make.
is my abandon ware safe to use ?
Fire Bucket Depends you could get malware

Welp.. maybe now with Bethesda being bought out by Microsoft, we'll get to see the original prey series/sequel come to fruition. Fingers crossed.
Love the story, love the game play. Ahead of it's time. An amazing game.
Please, somebody buy the IP and make the Prey sequel we've always dreamed!
Dang, it's so upsetting learning about what Bethesda did.
Great vid as always. Loved Prey on the 360. Was kinda like a poor mans Turok. On a side note here's a game you've probably never heard of. It's called "DreamKiller". A First person shooter using Painkiller's engine where you are a psychiatrist that literally enters people's minds and kills what ever is their worst nightmares. I've hardly seen any one play it. It's old but it was actually fun with the time I did play it. Never finished the game though. You should make it one of your next reviews as something interesting and forgotten in time.
I've still got Prey 2006 for PC somewhere; going to dig it out. It kind of reminded me of Turok the Dinosaur Hunter.
One of my favorite parts of this game was the radio segments with Art Bell, listening to the stories of people getting abducted in real time added a small layer of fear to it. I played the shit out of Prey back in the day.
According to its developers, "Prey 2" was pretty much finished by the time Bethesda cancelled it. Well, considering how the cancelled "Battlefront III" was leaked in its entirety in 2016 (and that thing was even less finished than "Prey 2"), my biggest sex dream would be for some guilt-ridden Bethesda employee to someday do the same for the "Prey 2".
@Brian Boulter I saw leaked screenshots of Prey 2 that showed a lot more. It did look like there was considerable work put into it, maybe it was actually close to being finished for all we know.
@Brian Boulter | Yeah, that's what I also remember from Jason Blair, who wrote "Prey 2". Bethesda claimed "Prey 2" was no more than a demo, but Blair stated emphatically in June 2016, "Prey 2 was a full game... What happened to Prey 2, from where I sat, was political." I really hope some ex-developer somewhere still has a build of the game. Maybe on his or her deathbed, he or she can unleash it on the Internet as a final "screw you" to Bethesda. :-(
I found out Prey because of Prey 2017. I would have missed this fantastic game if there wasn't Prey 2017. ;)
What's the best way to fix stuttering in Prey 2006?
On sale for $4 on Xbox Market. Just got a copy. Hope the Series S gives it a lil' boost.
Hey Jarek! Not sure if you’ll see this but I think you should totally check out Wolfenstein The Old Blood. It’s one of my fav games but I rarely see people talk about it since everyone is obsessed with New Order and New Colossus. The Old Blood I wouldn’t call a “hidden gem” but it just seems like it’s the one of those three games that no one talks about.
Loved this game when it came out was super excited for Prey 2 then it got canceled and I cried a little then they announced the new prey and I got excited then I played it and I liked it but it wasn't Prey had nothing to do with the original. I knew from videos it wasn't gonna be the same before I bought it but still I was looking forward to seeing more from this universe
They are both good games, but Prey 2017 shouldn't have used that name it should have been a new IP
We need a remake of the first prey
*_And_* a sequel for it.
My theory is the title of your video. Great coverage
Guess I was pretty lucky to find a working Steam key
Anyone ever play the multilayer? That was weird I only briefly played it, not many servers around for it even when us was fairly new.
If you have a dvd version on pc you can register the CD key to steam
Good video nice to know am not the only one who side wtf on pray 2017 should do a review on super smash bro melee
The only "problem" with Prey 2017 is the name as it has nothing to do with Prey 2006
I remember when this game came out. It felt unique. Yes, it used Doom 3 engine, but the game itself felt pretty different to most of the shooters that were out there. It felt really "alien": the whole spaceship, the portal things, the enemies themselves and, specially, the level design (which was kinda disorienting, when you played at first time) and the weapons (they seemed organic, alive, it was insane). I was so lucky to find a used original PC copy of the game some years ago - and the registration code (that also validates the game on Steam) wasn't used, so it felt like a "double" luck, in a sort of way.
I was really pissed when they canned Prey 2. That game looked absurdly phenomenal, it was a shame they "rebooted" a franchise that had its personality to do a System Shock clone. :/
Our dark lord Jarek has blessed us with another sacred video
Honestly if Prey 2017 was called something else. Nothing would really change
That would be fine. I wish we did get Prey 2
Arkane did good with what they had, Arkane had just finished Dishonored 2 and was working on Dishonored: Death of The Outsider.
I love both, but I see what you're thinking, It's just that these are completely different games that shouldn't be compared. Also the 2017 one shouldn't be called Prey anyway, it's not Prey.
I loved this game, it was so much fun to play back than, still must be somewhere around here for pc.
What adds salt to injury is how the developers of Prey 2017 didn't even planned on using that title, it was a choice made by the publisher pretty much against their will, and even worst is I remember one of the devs saying in an interview that he KNEW it was going to anger a lot of people but was powerless to stop Bethesda from doing it anyway... man Arkane keeps getting screwed over
I played through nearly all of it but never played the last little bit of the game as i got stuck on that big weird room eith the platforms and lifts and could never get past it.
Do you have an upload schedule or do you upload whenever you want?
I had the lowest expectations for Prey 2017 but when i played it a month ago it was one of the best adventures, the movement, expecially with the gloo cannon is one of my favorite...
...but i could not finish it cause i had no idea where to go for the last objective (i think i was going to get the best ending too) and the game was not giving me a single indication so i stopped, felt really bad
Ikr, that's one thing I didn't like about the game. Just too easy to get lost
I've never played the original Prey, I'm currently LP-ing the 2017 version now.
I think Prey 2017 is fantastic (except for performance issues), but seeing how it differs so much from the original Prey makes me think "Prey 2017 needs to be called something else".
Original Prey is one of the best games . Should try to get it and play.
@@velkylev4217 sounds like a good idea!
They could make Prey into a two different series for the two tasty of gameplay, for exemple I prefer Prey 2017 because i into immersive sims, but could be a prey in shooter style like the Prey 2006. Sadly i think that boths types of Prey will never see the light of day again.
Although I don’t always agree with your opinions, I somehow find one of the most entertaining aspects of your videos is to hear some of your specific takes on games you cover. Fyi I loved prey 2006. Have not played 2017 prey but it does look good even if it does take advantage of the original IP.
I just picked this game up because it was on sale for $1 and it was honestly such a fun play through.
I’m definitely bummed we might never see games that have as unique of a direction as this these days.
I’ve been playing a lot of old games on an upgraded system so far I’m also slowly working through Doom 3 BFG :(. But it’s cool to know they use the same software as that game.
My favorite parts were the micro planets, if you run and jump at them just right you can actually get stuck in orbit around them, the gravity physics always seemed unreal to me.
I'm here in 2022 because of the devs saying Bethesda forced them to use the name and feel disgust themselves.
I'm still sad to this day that Prey 2 never got released I remember being so excited when this game was announced back In 2011 and then suddenly BAM! game cancelled. Thanks alot Bethesda.
It's worth pointing out that Prey was first shown in 1997 and it already featured portal technology, even back then. Just a small thing to show how ahead of the curve Human Head were.
I don't recall the thought being that Prey 2006 was a flop or a discrete title back then. Prey was in development hell all through the 90's, and when it finally released, it was great! But many of us called it a Turok on 360. I mean both have many, many similarities. Right down to the Native Indian protagonist.
wat? Prey is nothing like Turok aside from the main character being native american and Turok definitely didn't invent native american people.
Wasn’t Bioshock already a love letter to System Shock?
Bioshock was a much more shooter oriented version of system shock, not really a love letter.
I thought I was alone in this, I played prey (2006) on my xbox 360 & I loved it. When I saw prey 2 on tv on xplay back in the day. I was so excited. When I found out that bethsda canceled prey 2 I threw a fit & smashed a lot of stuff in my own room. I lost it. I hated bethsda for canceling prey 2.
You should seek serious help if you throw tantrums and start breaking stuff just because a game you wanted got cancelled
That was a long time ago dude. I've grown up since then & I'm better at handling my emotions now.
This was one of my favorite games as a kid I miss my copy
Can you do analysis of Command and conquer renegade? Its FPS game not RTS
