The last task in the game could be better. But the reason a lot of people were having trouble was they were not shooting the werewolves in the head - they get back up after body shots... like a werewolf would. I think I got stuck on some rubble once and had to reload the game and the next time the same place worked fine. Other that it was a perfectly passable game - one I can say I actually rather liked. (same goes for Fall of Liberty). I suppose if you wanted to a be a tetchy princess about it you might complain about a lack of enemy types. This game terrified me as a kid. I always refused to face the warewolf because i didn't want to be mauled to death like the man that was pulled beneath the shutter. I had to ask my cousin to play that section.
I remember reading a review of the game in a magazine when it first came out. They gave it a 5 out of 10. Their main problem was that despite the mystical elements and the fact you were fighting mythological creatures, it didn't feel any different from a regular FPS at the time. Probably didn't help that it came out 3 days before Gears of War 2. Still, it's nice that this game got some more attention in recent years, including from Matt McMuscles. This game isn't a lost classic that was overlooked, but it's also not one you'll regret playing.
I remember when this came out, and I asked my dad to buy it. I wasn't old enough to understand the mechanics enough to play the game, but its a game filled with mythological creatures, why wouldn't I want to play/see this game. My dad was worried about it's age rating, but eventually rented the game and I watched him play it. Hey just recently started watching you analysis's and immediately subscribed. A game I remember fondly from my childhood you may like is Spartan: Total Warrior. I remember getting this game and the guy who sold it to me said how terrible it was. It was one of my favorite games for a long time! Great story and awesome creatures haha
I WOULD like a sequel to legendary, TBH. The key factors are the license and the studio who will pick it up. I recall the case of stalker, the grandaddy of all horror RPG FPS games (yes, it kick fallout in the face in terms of atmosphere, 'fess up.) that got three games but then it's studio died for some reason, and despite the old dev team wanting to make the next game, the studio wouldn't give them the license for some reason, so they went on to make survarium. Stalker 2 is coming back now, and that game series started in 2007 and released 3 games up until 2009. There's always hope, so long as a game has enough of a following and the market has a demand for it. With the rise of the online multiplayer scene, it's only a matter of time until people get sick of it, like horror walking simulators, FNAFF, survival sandbox, COD clones, etc. We'll get our sweet linear story-drive FPS games back. There;s still hope for good, classic SP FPS railshooter fun.
I bought Legendary for 360 at launch, did not regret my purchase at all. Not the best FPS ever made, but a fun one with a unique twist. For those wanting to play on Legendary on PS3 through a disc copy. You need to sign off PSN while playing the single player to save your game. If you play it while signed in to PSN the game tries to connect to the online servers that no longer exist and stops you from saving your single player campaign. And man is it very cheap to get Legendary on Steam, well worth the purchase and had no issues getting it to run on a modern build. Unlike Velvet Assassin, another budget WW2 stealth game I liked on 360...
I feel the same way about battlefield hardline. Still my favorite in the series and of all of them it’s the one I go back to the most. Btw your old videos helped me out a lot with it lol
Hey man it was always pretty fuckin funny when u broke the arms on the werewolves and they tried to attack , the broken arms flailing about as they tried to swing them LOL
One of my instructors from early in my college career was lead animator on this game. Always thought that was interesting and made me want to play it even more!
I only played the demo of this game on 360 years ago But I fell I love with the mythical monsters in a first person game. I was so sure it would take off and we would get more games like this. But here we are
Honestly I'd say one of the things that holds Legendary back is the fact it looks like your bog standard shooter that came out in an era of big standard shooters, sure it's more than that but it's still a shooter in the era of shooters and it does have some moments where it feels like that. Fighting the Kraken? Make it eat missiles which seems kinda underwhelming compared to the method of destroying the Golem, which while gameplay wise was bogged down to - Shoot Werewolves, power up machine- does show that bosses can be made where bullets don't solve the problem. And the game also had a nice way to handle werewolves - Cut off their head with an axe or headshot, the latter of which is comically easy when using a full auto weapon thanks to the posture. However I do feel like there should have been a different 'First enemy' for the player considering the Fire Drake's are ridiculously bullet resistant and explode on dying making melee a bad idea. Honestly this game needs a remake with a few changes, mainly it being longer since we're out of the era of 2 hour single player attention spans, some new enemies, new bosses, and a new final boss like a surprise fight with a Chimera instead of the Half-life rip off.
You convinced me. Always felt curious about this one but never gave it a try (and not because the review scores, I wasn’t even aware of that). Just found it for 3€ (3,30$) at my local secondhand store, and felt like playing a fun and entertaining shooter with supernatural elements. Thanks for the recommendation! Keep it up!
Got to mention the Funhaus let’s play of it made me wanna see your opinion on the game It’s pretty goofy but it’s like B-movie kinda goofy and I like it
I remember picking this up in a game store pre-owned for like £10 or something for the Xbox 360, back around about the time it came out. Best surprise ever when I got home and played it, to this day I've yet to meet anyone else who did play it so it's great to see it here in a video like this!
Loved this game back when it launched, and I had a lot of fun going through the concept, story, soundtracks, and mythology. Also for your next analysis I got some suggestions for you to check out: 1- Exodus From The Earth 2- Liquidator 2 Welcome To Hell 3- Utopia City 4- Breed (XPlosiv version) [thanks to a user who replied to me] 5- Hour Of Victory 6- Neuro Hunter (Fps/Rpg) 7- Psychotoxic 8- Warhammer 40,000: Fire Warrior 9- Iron Storm 10- Kreed
I can’t believe these guys also made breaking point: fall of liberty. When I was younger I fucking loved to play that and legendary. I even owned a copy of COD finest hour for my PS2
Hi Jarek, do you use the standard Vsync in the control panel or the "fast" option? I can surely recommend it since it doesn't add any lag and you are free of tearing. Then you can just limit you fps with rivatuner. Just wanted to help if you don't know about this. I love your videos and been subscribed for a long time thanks
I am a huge FPS fan so this channel is awesome. I have been introduced to lots of great shooters and also been shown which ones to avoid. Definitely gonna recommend this to my friends.
For anyone looking to play this on Steam be aware the elevator bug is still a thing but if it keeps happening when you reload you can fix it by going into the ini file and limiting the FPS to 30 for that section. I bought this on Steam earlier in the year for less than a £. I remember reading up on it before it came out and you could tell the Devs were really passionate about it so I always wanted to check it out. Your video is 100% spot on. It's a fun little game with some rough edges but interesting concept and mechanics.
this game deserves a reboot of the concept. you could easily input a bioshock infinite style shooter with one hand being the gun the other some weird powers (maybe connected to a god like lighting attack for zeus) and open world. and the monster designs were pretty cool since they are a little bit inspired by em but still their own twist with the griffin not being and eagle/lion but a vulture/lion.
I remember this game fondly as it had a very good concept with the whole mythological creatures returning in the modern day and wrecking shit up. While it did have its issues, they were easily fixable. I would have given it a 7/10 and recommended it for a sequel/reboot.
Fun fact about Legendary: before the game was launched, I contacted the devs to say how much I was looking forward to it based on the concept alone, but asked if the game was coming out in my native Portugal as none of their other games had so far. They responded by asking me for my address, then sent me a PS3 copy of the game (again, the game wasn't even out yet!), a tie-in graphic novel, t-shirt, and artbook. And they asked for nothing in return. I was a nobody, just a regular gamer. I didn't even have a RUclips channel or social media accounts or anything they could have hoped to exploit for exposure. Yes, the game could have done some things better. But this gesture on their part ensured it will forever live fondly in my memories.
0:13 Ah, the rare breeds of youtubers that asked you to watch first consider subscribe later instead of "liKe sUbScrIbE cOmMenT" 5 seconds in is a refreshing change
i remember playing this game and liking it, it wasn't anything that MADE my childhood but i do remember picking it up because the theme was interesting, and it was a good game like you say, I was so surprised years later hearing how badly received it was.
I remember when I was like 14 or 15 seeing this game on the shelves. It was always a little too pricey, like $50 dollars minimum for what seemed pretty budget-y. Never in the bargain bin or on discount, and always next to big ticket games that everyone wanted. Feels weird that there's a following for something I just sort of ignored. But I did grow up in a small town so idk, thanks for the vid though, might pick it up after all these years.
I totally agree. For me it's the same thing with "War in the North" and "Resident Evil : Racoon City" . Loved these game but man did critics hate them.
Racoon City was filled with bugs and gameplay inconsistencies that it can be unplayable at times. It was an incredible premise, but executed very poorly.
This game was awesome, I played it to death. I get that mechanically it’s not amazing, but the creative drive behind it is something missing in modern games. Need to get a copy for my 360 again.
I also bought this on launch and really enjoyed it for what it was. Menu music is also really quite good. Got a good laugh out of getting an achievement for being crushed under the foot of the large metal boss. Just not as bad as people remember it being
I was the same way. I loved this game, sure it mechanics were not ground breaking, but the concept was badass and I really had a good time with it. Honestly its a shame that it did end on a cliff hanger and that there is no chance for a sequel.
I remember I had gotten a game demo for this from the Xbox magazine when I was a kid and was super excited by it but quickly forgot about it because I got hyped up for halo 3 ODST.
I love this game, my first play through I didn't use the flame thrower because it looked weak , but when I finally used it against the Alpha it killed it quick. Awesome game.
The execution animations the werewolves did whenever they killed an NPC (whether one of your allies or an enemy soldier) were almost worth the price alone!
My dad wouldn't get this for me when I was in junior high because of the reveiws but I got it for myself a few years later after I got my first job and I loved this game
It was cool, when I was still hunting achievements it was an pain getting kills in ranked matches with no online players. .. But got it through boosting sessions
You should do Section 8 next. It isn't available for purchase anymore, apart from its sequel. It was an interesting game and I played it a lot on the 360.
I played this on Xbox and I wish more games had the same concept. But with a huge Titan has the final boss or something. But great vid, glad someone talked about this hidden gem.
The first thing you hear about something has a huge effect on how you perceive it. If you hear a ton of negative reviews about this game, you’ll expect it to be worse and have a much worse experience with it when you play it yourself. I have fond memories of this game tho. I remember the golem made of modern things like cars and concrete smashing through the city was really cool.
If Homefront got a shoddy sequel, then this more than deserves a shot at another game! There is a lot of potential for an awesome sequel if someone would just buy the rights to do it.

Always love your videos. Thanks for reminding me of a lot of games I played when I was younger. :)
I feel the same way about battlefield hardline. Still my favorite in the series and of all of them it’s the one I go back to the most. Btw your old videos helped me out a lot with it lol
Hardline better than BF3? Come on That game set standards for years
Battlefield Hardlines's single player is awesome!
Hey man it was always pretty fuckin funny when u broke the arms on the werewolves and they tried to attack , the broken arms flailing about as they tried to swing them LOL
One of my instructors from early in my college career was lead animator on this game. Always thought that was interesting and made me want to play it even more!
I liked legendary and for me it was a solid 6/10 not a great game but is a fun little distraction.
I only played the demo of this game on 360 years ago But I fell I love with the mythical monsters in a first person game. I was so sure it would take off and we would get more games like this. But here we are
That opening segment is one of the most epic setpieces I've ever seen, like holy shit it's so chaotic (but in a good way)
Honestly I'd say one of the things that holds Legendary back is the fact it looks like your bog standard shooter that came out in an era of big standard shooters, sure it's more than that but it's still a shooter in the era of shooters and it does have some moments where it feels like that.
Keep it up!
Got to mention the Funhaus let’s play of it made me wanna see your opinion on the game
It’s pretty goofy but it’s like B-movie kinda goofy and I like it
I remember picking this up in a game store pre-owned for like £10 or something for the Xbox 360, back around about the time it came out. Best surprise ever when I got home and played it, to this day I've yet to meet anyone else who did play it so it's great to see it here in a video like this!
Loved this game back when it launched, and I had a lot of fun going through the concept, story, soundtracks, and mythology.
Also for your next analysis I got some suggestions for you to check out:
1- Exodus From The Earth
2- Liquidator 2 Welcome To Hell
3- Utopia City
4- Breed (XPlosiv version) [thanks to a user who replied to me]
5- Hour Of Victory
6- Neuro Hunter (Fps/Rpg)
7- Psychotoxic
8- Warhammer 40,000: Fire Warrior
9- Iron Storm
10- Kreed
The Kraken is Guy Fawkes reawakened
I can’t believe these guys also made breaking point: fall of liberty. When I was younger I fucking loved to play that and legendary. I even owned a copy of COD finest hour for my PS2
Hi Jarek, do you use the standard Vsync in the control panel or the "fast" option? I can surely recommend it since it doesn't add any lag and you are free of tearing. Then you can just limit you fps with rivatuner. Just wanted to help if you don't know about this. I love your videos and been subscribed for a long time thanks
God I remember playing this game so much gives me nostalgic vibes from seeing this video pop up in my recommended
I think my prime example of reviews regrettably steering me clear from a worthwhile game, it has to be the original NieR.
ok when the ps1 intro sound dropped nostalgia hit me like an 18wheeler!
I remember getting this and not playing it for ages but one day I decided to play it and was hooked. Wouldn’t mind seeing a remake
I am a huge FPS fan so this channel is awesome. I have been introduced to lots of great shooters and also been shown which ones to avoid. Definitely gonna recommend this to my friends.
Cool to see these gems getting some praise all these years later
The minotor battles near the end were always great
Id love to see a sequel to this game where you can command some creatures
Jarek what about playing the Blood Fresh supply remaster?
Taking down mythological monsters with guns in a modern setting.
The entire concept of this game was enough for me to buy it! Great video btw
It’s midnight 2021 and I still love this video I played this game as a kid and really liked it thought the campaign idea was super neat
Love the concept of game with creatures etc..
I remember playing this game and liking it when I was a kid. Man, that muzzle flash is crazy bright though
i remember playing this game and liking it, it wasn't anything that MADE my childhood but i do remember picking it up because the theme was interesting, and it was a good game like you say, I was so surprised years later hearing how badly received it was.
I absolutely loved this game. I bought it on Steam a year ago to relive memories. Absolutely amazing concept.
Love the analysis videos so well made also yea I liked this game just couldn’t beat it when it came out I sucked at it
I totally agree. For me it's the same thing with "War in the North" and "Resident Evil : Racoon City" . Loved these game but man did critics hate them.
Racoon City was filled with bugs and gameplay inconsistencies that it can be unplayable at times. It was an incredible premise, but executed very poorly.
@@Necroscrow Well, it still was fun though and that's all that matters to me
I actually really loved that story, and the sick soundtrack,it's a criminally underappreciated IP,and I wish there was a sequel
Thank to this review I’ve been trying to find this.
I've never played this game but I always wanted to. I remember seeing it in stores and i always wanted to play it
This game was awesome, I played it to death. I get that mechanically it’s not amazing, but the creative drive behind it is something missing in modern games.
Need to get a copy for my 360 again.
I have a copy of it that has beend sealed for like 9 years... I think this weekend is the day when I unwrap it. Thanks!
i played this game in 2008 and have been trying to find it ever since, glad to have finally found it
I also bought this on launch and really enjoyed it for what it was. Menu music is also really quite good. Got a good laugh out of getting an achievement for being crushed under the foot of the large metal boss. Just not as bad as people remember it being
Finaly a video with good sound.
I was the same way. I loved this game, sure it mechanics were not ground breaking, but the concept was badass and I really had a good time with it. Honestly its a shame that it did end on a cliff hanger and that there is no chance for a sequel.
Was streaming Darkwatch (another hidden gem fps) and someone mentioned this game saying they had a similar premise. Had to look it up
13:43 I like that motto.
I also enjoyed it. I got it at buy backs in 2015 liked the concept of The game
The execution animations the werewolves did whenever they killed an NPC (whether one of your allies or an enemy soldier) were almost worth the price alone!
I remember playing this. It was alright, but I wasn't able to finish it due to my PS3 having trouble recognising the save file
I remember this game ti be so much funny, and i especially remeber the minotaurus bossfight.
My dad wouldn't get this for me when I was in junior high because of the reveiws but I got it for myself a few years later after I got my first job and I loved this game
It was cool, when I was still hunting achievements it was an pain getting kills in ranked matches with no online players. .. But got it through boosting sessions
This game was amazing I really wish they'd make a part 2 for next gen.
Do vampire rain, or at least check it out! It's so bad you would have so much to say Haha it would be hilarious content.
One of the two versions is fixed if I heard right
@@Matt-md5yt naw man Google the versions. Still a massive pile of shit.
@@Matt-md5yt there is no fixing
Can you do "Analysis: Is Shellshock 2 Blood Trails ACTUALLY Bad?" ?
I’ve been subscribed for 3 years
This games is solid, still make me remember the game premise more than those military shooter
You should do Section 8 next. It isn't available for purchase anymore, apart from its sequel. It was an interesting game and I played it a lot on the 360.
Good game
This game and alone in the dark, rented them both one weekend at my moms, both mad underrated
The S.O.A.D esque title theme was pretty cool.
If Homefront got a shoddy sequel, then this more than deserves a shot at another game! There is a lot of potential for an awesome sequel if someone would just buy the rights to do it.
Finest hour was one of my favourite COD games and this actually looks half decent. Might have to pick this up :-)
Keep up the content, its good stuff
THANK YOU! Glad to see this underrated game get some love.
