Red dead revolver
Or even
Outlaws the computer game.by lucas arts 1995
From watching, I maintain that the original's duel system is far superior (Gives good player feedback of 'hand grasps handle, gun clears leather and fire away' while the sequel just does a worse version of that.)
Not gonna lie. Ray's probably by far one of my favourite looking video game gunslingers so far.
Not very often you see a old west cowboy wearing armor. And the rest of his outfit just... fits together with it so well.
Yes but I can hardly move, keep that in mind
Thinking of making my rdr2 dressed as ray if i can
My favorite parts of this game were those free-roam maps the game would dump you into, letting you ride around, do some side-quests and just have some good old-fashioned western action.
Oh how I wish that the game was open-world; it would've been Red Dead Redemption before that was a thing.
Nobody respects Red dead revolver that game was so good
It's gun which needs some love it was surprisingly good and nobody talks about it
How do you go free-roam?
Gun was RDR before RDR
I've played this game a few times. I remember having to drag the mouse left for the duels lol. Also, you have to keep the hand as close to the gun without drawing it until the bell rings. The hand just keeps moving back. The sensitivity is way down so you can actually keep the hand close without trying to draw the gun.
I was actually cringing during the duel part of this video because of how bad Jarek was at it. I remember playing this way back and I remember being much better than that. I also didn't understand his complaints about the cover system, because you HAVE TO show your head to where you want to look, because otherwise there would be some damn cover between you and where you want to look, so it's not a problem introduced by this new system.
I appreciate the fact that this video is not overly short, but I also don't think he is very good at criticizing video games so this was one of the very few instances where I felt the need to dislike a video despite the video having some effort put into it. Maybe he usually criticizes games better than this; but seeing how his two main complaints about the game don't really make sense, I just think he isn't experienced enough.
@@Yveldi Jarek is usually bad at games so I tend to ignore most of his complaints.

What actually happened here was the fact that this is basically a console game. The duels suck but the hand mechanic works with analog sticks.
It was just as janky on console as it is on pc buts definitely a console port to pc I noticed how shitty it felt to use the lasso on a mouse and it was harder to play imo
I only lost twice while dueling, but I see lots of people arguing about it
I remember this game. Good times and memories playing it. Might give it a go again someday for a trip down memory lane. Been so long since I played it. Always had a good time with this one.
My Brain at 2 am: “hey are you trying to sleep?”
Me: “yes, now shut up”
My brain: “Neither Thomas nor William got proper burials or funerals”
Aww. Now I'm sad.
Didnt thomas die in the first one? Jarek said at the start that thomas was the step father of billy in the first game and given how his step father died... but how did ray die?
@@woodworm8368 The first one takes place decades after the second. William the priest dies in the 1860s, and Thomas dies at the beginning of Call 1. Ray dies at the end of the game to the man that killed his brother.
I absolutely love this game. For a good while, it was actually my favorite game.
Not sure anyone will read this, but the duels are easy. Almost every enemy takes so many steps before the bell rings. Some take 6, some take 8, some take 10-12. Count the steps, move hand to holster during last round of steps, pull it out before bell and wait a sec until cursor is red, shoot. The first couple duels were hell until I figured it out. From there on out they were all pretty easy.

Ray mccall: I have armor
Enemies duelists: hahah
That means nothing to me
GUN is still my fav western game besides RDR
I only count gun and coj series.
I feel like Rockstar took a large look at games like this before doing RDR 1! I know Rockstar Games was one of the first to use bullet time but putting it in a Western they got beat to which is a surprise! I feel like Michael has some relation to John Or Arthur because he has a watered down dead eye I'd say! Or maybe some relation to Max Payne! I know Franklins ability comes from Midnight Club! Oh ya and Trevors ability is a lot like Max Paynes as well!
Redemption or revolver?

@@sunburst8810 because the cartel wasn't horrible at all
@@sunburst8810 Bound in Blood is awesome tho
TheGeem Yes it was horrible.
I get the feeling it was overlooked because when some people hear Call of Juarez they probably think it's a COD parody/spinoff. (It was me but I got to play Gunslinger when it was free for PS Plus
Case in point is the very first game. It's genuinely great, with many memorable levels. It's a gem. And most disregard it. I'm still sad that my copy was lost. I can't even find one on eBay.
This game is fantastic! Best Call of Juarez and one of the most uniques and fun fps games.
Duels can sometimes be frustrating but they are not too bad and they add tension and spicyness.
Graphics is really good. I stopped many times just to look the beautiful landscapes!
Music and sounds are great. I love it!
The only bad thing is the fact that the game is too short.
I agree, there's a few things that are nit picky but for the time there were no other games like this. I tend to agree with the duel mechanic, but I originally played the console version, which works way better and feels smoother. The timing is really what seems to get most players, as the time is around 10-15 seconds before the bell. I managed to master the mechanic and rarely die. Probably just me as I watched movies that have a lot of Eastwood-esque duels and enjoyed them. Satisfying as hell to finally gun down a particularly annoyig character after he's been taunting me for a good while (on in the case of one particular character, the entire game).
Spaghetti western is definitely accurate, as it seems to hit all the cliches of most western movies. Gunslingers, cattle rustling, thieves, murderers, crazy guys threatening innocent people, holdups, saloon shootouts, going into a town fighting off local law enforcement, pretty much has it all except a bank, train, or stage coach robbery. Interesting that you see the Civil War from the Confederate side. That was unexpected.
You should try the game again with the realism mod. I forgot where the game is set after the war part, but the mod jump time 10 years later in 1874 so the weapons are all perfectly in tune (and named correctly*) with the period its set in. Glad you enjoyed it over all :)
* the repeater rifle is modeled after a 1894 winchester instead of the original or the henry rifle.
Man I remember finding your channel... right when bf4 came out within hours you had videos of all the weapons and their animations, and then you started playing h5 and I was hooked on ur channel for a long time. And your killing floor videos where addicting...
My memories of playing this on Xbox say that a lot of the awkwardness of stuff like the leaning or pulling back on the mouse to snap to targets felt better on a controler

Techland has the open world gameplay down with Dying Light. So combine Dying Light's sandbox gameplay with Call of Juarez and BOOM! you get another Western action game franchise that has the potential to rival Red Dead
I loved this game as a kid. I still have my original ps3 version
For real, Bound in Blood is probably my favorite PS3 game aside from guitar hero, I like the story, the characters, but nothing,
NOTHING
Beats that soundtrack.
Oh my god the OST is the best
13:30 "Nothing blocks you off, so the game just fails you."
*Proceeds to play gameplay clip where the game actively says he is doing something wrong and fails him and then rants about it*
I don't think I will ever understand this. It isn't as vague as the first game, which is an improvement, but seriously? The game actively and immediately says that you are going the wrong way and need to go back to do something else. That is literally only your fault.
Yeah, you don't seem to have much time after the warning and it's always annoying when you can't go where you want
No, that's still bullshit. The game gave me very little time to react before instantly failing me. I thought that cave lead around so I could flank the enemy. If the game wants me to stay in that one room, don't let me continue. There was another situation in the game where if you walk more than 100 feet further away from ray, the game fails, even though there are already enemies shooting at me there, so you want to kill them to get out of the way. Why did the game fail me? Because ray had to play a 5 second animation of blowing up a damn rock before continuing while I was no more than 100 feet away. A game should NEVER be that scripted.
Still a better dueling system than Red Dead Redemption.
I really liked the first RDRs dueling system but the second games system was disappointing.
I've gotten used to rdr2's dueling mechanics but i favour call of juarez's mechanics.
@@woodworm8368 RDR2 feels smooth and more real. Red dead revolver is my favorite.
Beat the game two times already since I got the game from Steam. Definitely an underrated game, even though it may be a bit rough around the edges. I really like how the guns in this game feel so strong and explosive. It's very satisfying to shoot the revolvers and rifles. The levels were packed with action and lots of NPCs to kill, which is a good thing. Unfortunately, there are some aspects to the game which annoy me, like how the camera sometimes locks on characters speaking, how enemies have aimbots, and the duels kinda suck.
The story was pretty stupid, but it was fun. I think the 3 brothers and the cartoon cutscenes made up for the bad writing.
You should analyze Call of Duty finest Hour it was a great childhood game and I want to see how it stands up I wish I still had it
I loved this game I played this before I got to play the first red dead then i played red dead and I became a fan of Western games
I had fun with this game back in the day but wow....animations and cutscenes have come a long way since this came out.
The only cool thing I've ever heard about The Cartel is that it's the first media appearance of the Mexican Army's rifle, the FX-05 Xiuhcoatl. www.imfdb.org/wiki/FX-05_Xiuhcoatl
not sure why but i loved this game back in 2009
You can tell some of these features were what inspired Rockstar Games to make certain design choices for Red Dead Redemption 1&2!.
Not sure about that as Red dead revolver came out before this.
Dead eye system definitely was inspired from Bound in Blood.
Ray is my favorite sassy old guy and will always be
Great review as usual! Have you ever heard of KISS: Psycho Circus: Nightmare Child? It's an old school shooter based on the rock band KISS and their comic series by guys who wrote Spawn. Definitely an obscure one, with some fun weapons and an interesting concept. Would love to see your opinion on it!
I'll have to look that up.
The story is Epic. Love this game.
It actually isn't Epic, but that's probably for the better as Epic might have made it worse, adding more action at the cost of a cinematic feel
I love the Call of Juarez games (never bothered to play The Cartel tho). I even love the first. Bound in Blood is one of my favourite games ever, for some reason and Gunslinger is just as good.
Corey Marshall I thought cartel was good
This may be an unpopular opinion but Arthur Morgan gives out Ray Mcall vibes humor wise.

Amazing revenge-powered story with bitter ends for anyone
It's amazing that so many good Western-styled games came from Poland (Call of Juarez series, Hard West)
Pity Techland waste their talent on zombie games, they could do better than that
@@goosechaser13 True, Dying Light at least gameplaywise was amazing.
Gabriel Dorion Murray I still like dead island more than dying light. Yes you heard that right. Tropical setting is more interesting than city setting for me.
"I want to save my ultimate attack for when I need it." See, that's exactly the kind of thinking I hate. I hate it because you get stuck making things boring and stale for yourself, and you might not even realize it. Forcing the players to use their big attacks as soon as possible guarantees that hoarding behaviour doesn't get a chance to cripple their experience.
Except no, because bound in blood constantly throws many enemies at you at once. Usually you only have to wait another 30 seconds passed when you'd lose your ability. Or your ability gets lost because of dialogue. This is not a case of hoarding.
My favorite are games where you HAVE to save the good stuff for really difficult parts which you can hardly beat without. It makes it satisfying enough to counter the "making it boring for yourself" part.
@@Jarekthegamingdragon false you dont lose ability because of dialogue....
The duels might suck
But I love the animation when you draw too soon and ray with wag his finger and you
By far, the best version of the game. Thanks for covering this. Maybe review Gun sometime? :)
Damn I played it when I was a kid It was a good game
Red Dead’s DeadEye is much more straightforward
It's still a better looking game than some of the games released to this day!
I would play this game a ton as a kid but just the first level over an over cause i could never figure out the dueling system
I played this game when I was little and I had no idea how to finish the first duel
The duels in the original call of Juarez are broken for me, so I've been stuck at the first duel since forever. I've tried messing with the sensitivity, different mousepads, pull speeds, but nothing works. :(
Your videos make me relax

I played it on premiere and I found duels quite enjoyable... Plot tho was a bit too epic for me.
Lol, I absolutely see why the duels suck for PC. 100% man, I won't even try to rationalize anything for the PC, because I couldn't agree with you MORE about it. I haven't played this on PC, but I watched friends. And they ran into EVERY SINGLE ISSUE you did. You are absolutely right. For PC.
BUT on xbox 360, the duels are ABSOLUTELY amazing. I mean it, it's just much better with a controller. The aspects of it are perfect and exciting. It makes total sense with a controller, and it couldn't easily be done better. The developers should've taken that into consideration and changed things up. Plus, yeah..... you're a near superhero in the rest of the game, but ONE bullet in a duel and you're dead. It doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
The ONE aspect about the duels, which is undoubtedly made EVEN WORSE on PC, is how you sometimes have to shoot the enemy TWICE, because you fired too low. And later in the game, the later duels, the height you have to hit the enemy gets higher and higher. So, yep, FXXK the duels on PC. Garbage, 100%
But yes..... your video is a PC review, a COMPUTER review for the game. I fully understand. I just want to give the other side.... And admittedly I'm not gonna search the comments, so I'm here saying this myself.
Once again, thank you. You're awesome and hit it out of the park AGAIN. I also can't wait to go watch you Rainbow Six Vegas 1&2 reviews. You know WHICH games to do man. Home runs, all of them so far. And I suspect many more.
Best of luck and take care.
Ok well I can probably 100% say Jarek isn't gonna do red dead revolver because some of the duels near the end of that game where the issue Jarek met with this game is present in that game as well. Some of the earlier duels do have a bit of leeway but not much if you lose it but still survive then you'll just have less health than what you had going into the duel which can also be bad in its own right since some of the duels can have up to a max of three people versus you.
COJ the cartel was shit but had potential it felt a bit like the series but it wasnt even in that time period, gunslinger is different but arguebly the best and most awesome in the series
I love Coj The cartel way of telling its story.

Its like Techland tried to fix what aint broke, they got rid of the fist fights at the cost of super annoying QTE duels. At least the game stays enyoable enough that you kinda overlook these, but well, i cant wait to see how that next game got all wrong...
