Thank for an excellent video - very clear and informative.
Just one addition - I notice there have been a couple of comments in the replies about the headlights being on when the unit is reassembled onto the car. There are two white plastic sliders on the white plastic housing (approx 20:18) in the video. The left hand side one as you look at the picture is the slider which has three positions - off, side lights and headlights - make sure the stalk is set to “off” and the slider is in the corresponding “down” position. The right hand side slider is the headlight dipped /main beam (when the stalk is pushed forward or back) - make sure the spigot is engaged with the slider (in dipped beam position), before reassembly. As is obvious, I found this out by not checking and had to dissemble it all again !
There are three types of men in the world:
    1. Those that learn by reading
    2. Those that learn by observation
    3. Those that p**s on the electric fence and find out from experience !

Thanks for this excellent video, I wouldn't have attempted this without these detailed instructions showing every step - the indicators on my daughter's 56 plate 107 now working again! Also had the problem with main beam stuck on first time - found there is a piece a plastic (visible above your thumb and forefinger holding the cotton bud at 20:15) which isn't fixed and can jump off the little knob below it, and end up sitting in front of it instead of on top of it. This stops the stalk moving between the dip and main beam positions, and seems to force main beam on. Worked fine once taken apart (again!) and returned to the right position.

What a life saver! I would not have attempted this repair without your very helpful video - it gave me the confidence I needed to tackle the job. Just one point though, a few others have already remarked on this (see Gerard Newman's comment for the detail). The two white plastic sliders have a tendency to get misaligned as you dismantle and reassemble the switch. Like others I didn't notice and had to go through the whole exercise again!! (Getting really expert now!) You don't mention this at all so please update your video to include this very important point.

    Great vid. 3 things…
    1) the fix is temporary. Mine lasted 4 months. Got me though an MOT though 👌
    2) there are loads of pattern parts. £15-20. If you’re going through the effort to remove all the parts, it’s maybe a better route to replace rather than repair.
    3) done this a bunch of times, never managed to remove the speedo cowl first. Much easier to remove the steering wheel THEN remove the cowl.
Hope this tweaks are useful to someone. Thanks for the video. Really helped. 👍

Excellent walkthrough of this repair, very clear and easy to follow. Both my left and right flashers are acting up so I'm going to attempt this rather than replacing the entire stalk. It's probably the better option as using a good quality grease will likely prevent it happening again, a replacement will probably get the same problem again at a later time.

Thanks for this great video, which gave me, and my limited mechanical skills, the confidence to disassemble the steering wheel mechanism and successfully fix my indicator problem on my aygo.
I had one big challenge. I struggled to get the steering wheel off its mount. It eventually came off, but the big plastic ring, containing the airbag wires, flew off too, as the steering wheel gave way. The ring split in two halfs, one dangling in 10 cm of thin flat belt wire. This ring had a very neat rollup mechanism, to have the flat wire follow the steering wheels motion. Took me quite a bit of time to figure out how to put this ring mechanism back together, without breaking the belt wire and align the wire correctly to the current position of the wheels.

Thanks so much for making this guide. It took me about two and a half hours to fix the indicator on my 2013 Aygo this afternoon, can't believe they designed it so poorly. Hope I never have to do it again!
The TX30s holding the airbag in were ridiculously tight, I would advise anyone attempting this to use a ratchet to get those out instead of a screwdriver.
Getting the circular spring holding the stalks assembly off was a real pain, especially as the spring fell off when removing the assembly. Putting that back on again took two people in the end. Trying to put the screw back into the bottom cowling after reinstalling it was a real pain as well, I was hanging out the side of the car with the door sill digging in my back.
Again just want to say thanks for making such a comprehensive guide, very glad to have saved hundreds of pounds from going to a mechanic.

I removed the airbag and steering wheel first then the cowling etc. seemed easier to get at and then instead of a scouring pad I used a cotton bud dipped in Brasso as it was less aggressive on the contacts. Then a good spray of switch cleaner then some Lubriplate and voila the job's a good 'Un. Great video as usual by the way. Just saved me £80/90. Take care of yourself. 🖒🖒

I commented a week ago, now I've done the job (following the video) and have a 'as new' indicator stalk! I'd just like to add a couple of things which I did in the hope they will make the process easier for others:
Take the wheel off before the you remove the cowlings. They come off (and go back on) a treat without the wheel in the way.
The little white connector on the indicator stalk itself. aaanton removes this. It's a pig to mess about with. It can be left in place (I did) and the body of the stalk will still open up to expose the innards for cleaning just fine.
Thanks again aaanton for a great video!

The two trickiest bits were pinching the clamp to remove/reinstall the stalk and removing the tiny little white electrical plug from the stalk itself, which took some time. I found the origiinal stalk i removed, witht he faulty indicators and tried this fix.
The first time it didn't work completely, as i used 800 grade sanding paper and it cleaed up most but didn't reach the indented area on the copper plates.
I removed it again, and cleaned it a second time. This time using a dremel and wire brush. Now it works a treat.

Brilliantly filmed and explained method for what is, frankly, an easy repair........non-working indicators were going to be the only thing preventing our 2011 155k mile, otherwise immaculate Aygo passing its MOT.

Colin Bulger - For what it's worth. The rubber end of a pencil (eraser) make for a really nice electronic track cleaner. If needed it can even be sharpened to better suite the particular need. Excess comes of by simply blowing. If simultaneously you deep it in a bit of alcohol. There's no dirty electronic circuit or contact that will resist the approach! ;-)
It's harder to find nowadays, but an entire pencil eraser, the ones with the small brush in the other end. Is always part of my tool kit. You never know when it will be handy...

lifesaver of a video. After a while of the indicators working only intermittently, the corroded contacts got so bad that I couldn't even illuminate the headlamps (same stalk). After frustrated hours of testing fuses and such, it turned out to be the stalk.
I now have two stalks, one replacement, one original (with the polished end like yours through years of use). As one stalk begins to get corroded, I switch it out for the other so there's always one which has been freshly de-corroded.
Hoping to fix the cause in my C1 which is the ingress of water through the various seals into the boot.

My wife’s C1 also suffers from another problem, one which I think accelerated the contacts damage. It gets immensely damp inside. Well not damp, waterlogged would be a more accurate description. Quite literally the carpets in the passenger footwell squelched when you pressed it. Same for the rear foot wells and the boot. Water dripped on her as she drove. A few weeks ago I checked the footwells again and the had dried up. I checked the boot which was still a little damp. I took out the little floor bit to reveal the spare tyre in its well. Very apt word I have to say. It was nearly full to the top with water! No joke, no over exaggeration. I took the tyre out and in the bottom the were 2 round grommets which I pulled out and mist of the water drained out. Just had to get the remainder out with tea towel. I left the grommets off in the hope that if it starts to fill up again mist will drain right out. Sure enough, after the next night of rain, there were signs of ingression again. Any ideas where it might be coming from? I sealed up with silicone the centre brake light about the boot window, but that hasn’t helped. Sorry for the manuscript, thank you for reading and any advice you may be able to offer.

Thanks very much for the links. The leaking seal around the inside of the lights seems to describe my wife’s car problem, so I have followed your video instruction to put a silicon seal around the foam seal. It was quite easy to do, just as your video showed. Not that I am praying for rain, but won’t know if this has resolved the issue until we get some sustained downpours. Thanks again for your assistance. Hopefully saved me a small fortune in garage fees!

Give that man a Big 👍🏼. Thank you. Son's car having MOT tomorrow and having not moved since January (he is yet to take a test) I decided I'd best give it a run. Started on the button but soon realised no click click as I indicated! Hazards also not working properly (had to hold button in) but that was a fairly simple fix. Decided to give the indicators a go having watched this great tutorial. Had to remove the indicator stalk again as first time full beam came on as soon as plugged the unit in - the white D shaped bit of plastic needs to be central. But successfully put everything back, even the screw underneath the cowling! Thank you again

But I've got the lights on main beam only.....figured it might have been that loose plastic D that moved when I exposed the copper contacts. I'd noticed on another video it was to the left.... so I moved it from the centre! My bad, should have stuck with aaanton11 only! Still, it will be a lot quicker to redo now I've done it once. Great video - shows the plastic D in the right place! :-)

About to have a crack at this today. I'll report back with how it went.
Edit: So I had a bit of a wiggle about with it before I attempted the clean and the bloody thing is working fine now. I think the issue was my car was very damp inside from a leaky door. I had a 2 inch puddle in the rear footwell after recent bad weather. I changed the door seals (helped by another of your videos!) and left a few dehumidifier bags in there for a few days and that seems to have sorted it, fingers crossed. If the problem comes back I'll have a proper bash.

Grateful thanks. I made a start this morning - including finding my socket set it took me two hours - but:: 1. I was well prepared thanks to your great video.. 2. A bit of a fight to get the steering wheel off - thought I was going to have to borrow a puller - but another tap and off it came. 3. That clip is awkward as you need to pull the switch straight off whilst squeezing the clip. 4. Cautious about opening the switch as I didn't want to break any of the clips. 5. Inside was exactly like the video. Cleaned and even Brasso used on the contacts - the 3 wipers slightly tensioned. 6. Re-assembled and I realised the Main Beam position wasn;t reached. Stripped again and found I had misplaced a white nylon part.7. Re-assembled into the car - connected up and.....it didn't work. Stripped it again -and this time I used my meter to check the switch was working - It was. Not sure what had been the problem. Wife has now driven it and has passed it off. Many thanks - I am very grateful for your video.

Great. Video. Problem fixed thank you. Also thanks to the person that raised the full beam issue. In the main video, the stalk is on full beam so there is a small gap between the right hand edge of the white plastic moving piece and the right hand edge of the assembly (before the 2 contacts) if the stalk is on dimmed then there is no gap. The piece of plastic should sit on top of the little bubble beneath. You can check that it is in the right place by toggling the stalk between main beam and dipped, the little plastic cradle should move from left to right (main to dipped) and vice versa.

This is a really good vid, but!!! I had this same issue on mine and I fixed it without having to remove a single screw. Just rotate the indicator stalk in a circular motion for as long as it takes. The indicators will eventually begin to work slowly but surely. Just persevere and keep on. Then move the indicator stalk up and down and this will continue to clean the contacts. Again, persevere and if you're as lucky as I was, they will come back.
Edit: Make sure you have the ignition on...not necessary to have the engine running but if you have it livened up you can see when the indicators begin to work again. Good luck!

Great video helped me fix my 107, thanks! A few notes which may help someone else.
My car is a 2008 model which has two holes leading to the airbag screws: no covers.
The stalk may be tricky to remove: there is a plastic tab behind the metal clamp.
Once you've cleaned and reassambled the stalk make sure you can move the stalk backwards and forwards properly. If it is stuck then the headlamps will stick on full beam. This happens if the white plastic piece at 20:20 has slipped into the wrong place.

Many thanks for taking the time to post this. Followed your video / tuition completely today to fix the same issue on a Citroen C1. Worked a treat. Much appreciated.
