Beautiful quilt expertly demonstrated. I love my GE STripology ruler. I have an antique iron that I place on it to keep it from shifting. "Shift will happen" even with "non slip". Any block with bias (flying geese, HST's, half rects, Triangle in Squares) will experience wonk. Even with the best cutting, sewing and pressing techniques, you are still left with the imperfect nature of fabric. Using slightly oversized methods and accurate trim down is best practice. I truly believe it is the only way to get a perfectly balanced corner in HST's and perfect headroom and squaring. (You can tell this is a soapbox topic for me!)

really want to make one now. Thinking how I could use a mix of patriotic or Christmas fabrics or many fabrics. Something fun to think about. I made a zig-zag quilt out of swapped light and dark fabrics some years back...

To be honest, we haven't even thought about it yet. Neither of us has mastered free motion quilting as yet which means we get them done by a professional. So in other words, we have quite a few quilt tops piling up. If we are going to do it ourselves we will probably ditch stitch or sew a line down either side of the seams.

Thank you. All I have been able to find out it that it is called Swirly. There is no brand name on the selvedge. We purchased it from our local Spotlight store. Sorry I can't be of more help.
