By the end of this is England 90, combo was an entirely changed man and was as genuinely sorry as possible to milky, and milky wanted to understand combo, but by the time his family came to pick combo up, it was too late and milky realised he would have to live with the guilt for the rest of his life.
Combo was also (for once in his life) part of something, he belonged to a "family" or what he thought was his family, Milky's pure existence popped that bubble, the line between both separated in that moment.

That's how fucking easy it is to fall for. It genuinely is. I was there myself as a young lad, and of course like the film, something brutal happens and you question everything. You fall for the easy answers and the pride you're told you should have in your land, even though you live badly, and have been passed from pillar to post and basically thrown away. People like the BNP and the EDL pray on angry, young white men from council estates, and it works everytime. They basically put all of your problems into a basket and cover it with a bin liner made of immigrants, Islam, blacks and other scapegoats, and you fall for it, because they know your looking for a brotherhood, or some sort of family and your angry. You begin to think the reason you can't get a job, or why your signing on, or the reason your dad left you, or the reason your mam died is because of the bull shit they give you, you bottle it all up and something horrible happens, then hopefully you educate yourself and workout that all the shit they give you is nonsense, and you climb out of it. The thing is, Combo is right about a lot of what he says. What people don't understand is that he functions as a sort of strawman for the regime's propaganda (similar to Derek in American History X). Give a character decent arguments, but then make him a violent tatted up lunatic. Obviously Milky was a good lad and Combo was a scumbag. However, this movie is fictional. It is strategic framing and it shouldn't cause people to over-correct and accept the demographic replacement of their people.

I can’t believe some of the comments on here. Although the character became likeable in the later episodes when he’d realised the error of his ways, he’s not supposed to be liked here. It’s great acting from Stephen Graham, but that is it, he’s acting.

The thing is, Combo is right about a lot of what he says. What people don't understand is that he functions as a sort of strawman for the regime's propaganda (similar to Derek in American History X). Give a character decent arguments, but then make him a violent tatted up lunatic. Obviously Milky was a good lad and Combo was a scumbag. However, this movie is fictional. It is strategic framing and it shouldn't cause people to over-correct and accept the demographic replacement of their people.
