I love the pure irony of this game, I mean, an amazing, simple story about dealing with anxiety and depression is capable of causing it. I just imagine someone uttering the word "Moon Berry" and someone fall over and start foaming at the mouth with the fear of God in their eyes.
A friend of mine started playing the game recently and shared a screenshot of their death count today, commenting on the difficulty. I booted my game up to see how I had done in the same level, and found myself still sitting at the start of the Moon Berry room where I'd given up two years ago. I decided I couldn't just quit the level now, after all the effort to get there. After some fumbling with unfamiliar controls, and about two hours of frustration, struggle, and determination, I did it. *I got the berry.* Today is a good day.
Incredible. I left Farewell back in 2019 on the Switch and then came back on a new save file in 2021! Later on I did it all over again on PC but just a few hours ago I decided to go for the Moon Berry for the first time and I finally did it!! *haha cant wait to get the other 19 golden strawberries*
Impressive. Just finished Farewell w/o moon berry so now would be the time for me to go for it but it seems so daunting of a task. From the looks of it it's quite a bit more technical than the last Farewell screen, yah?
@@scotter7663I’d say it’s more technical for sure but the farewell screen is more annoying since you have to wait for the wind currents to carry you half the level

@@aldguton in my opinion i think that the moon berry room is MUCH easier. when i went back to that last screen to try and get moon berry after completing it normally, it took me longer to re-do that last screen to get to the moon berry room, than it did to actually complete the moon berry room
@@aldguton I actually don't think the last screen of Farewell is that hard. It takes time to get familiar with every trick and trap so that you can execute them all properly in one go, but there's no one thing in that screen that I really felt like "well shit, wtf am I supposed to do about THAT?!" for very long. This screen absolutely made me feel that way about 4:50 because I had no idea you could wall jump while holding a jellyfish, let alone get any kind of height or distance from doing that, and it never dawned on me to do that. Just about all of the game's wall jump puzzles are set up a certain way and this was not that. I eventually figured out how to do a Jellyvator before I was ever going to figure out you could wall kick your way to the crumbling platform. I learned the Jellyvator only because I jumped on the Celeste subreddit on the day I was pulling my hair out over this level and it just so happened someone asked if it was possible to release the jellyfish without throwing it, and someone else said yes by holding down while releasing. So then I thought "what if I did that right after getting the double dash, then re-grabbed and dashed straight up, then rinse and repeat one more time?" and it worked. Otherwise I was never figuring it out without looking at an actual walkthrough like this. And I was going to hate myself if I had to resort to that. those 2 parts were the most inconsistent for me with throwing and regrabbing the jelly, especially 4:30 wish I had known this b4 actually getting the moonberry myself
Cool. I had to activate assist mode and cheat my way through the last part of chapter 9, as I've been/I am playing on the RG351P ported version and sadly this part of the level lagged like SHIT and wasn't playable (most of the game is though so props to the portjob). So I just infinitely boosted my ass upwards and came across this berry. Will be interesting to see it, or miss it, when I replay on the Switch. Edit: was at least able to do 4:18 normally; was a fun screen.
Theres a way to "throw it" upwards. But its a bit of a pickle to do it at a constant rate. You have to let go of all keys except for the key to hold it. Then you press the down key. When you let go Madeline won't throw it and it will stay on top of her head, so you can dash up and boost grab it
People seem to see this as harder than the golden, I would say it is an equal difficulty in practice even if it is harder platforming as the golden requires a flawless run and this requires trial and error after getting into the secret route
You would have to not mess up for like fourty five minutes straight trying to get the golden and one slip up would be it on the constantly hardest level in the entire game
I can say first hand, fuck that last level. It somehow makes getting the farewell achievement look easy because of the amount of precision. I'm still going to do it, but fuck that level nonetheless
Not gonna bother with this moonberry crap for the sake of my sanity. That last segment alone took me like 4-5 hours to finish. Ridiculous. Edit: Aaaaand I have attempted it. Edit 2: I did it.

Specifically 3:40 is genuinely impossible for me. I don't know what I'm doing differently than what's shown here but Madeline refuses to make the jump. I've made it 4 times doing the exact same thing I do every other time, and what he's doing in the video, but I die before I can get to the next area. I am in so much pain
You do not need to make the jump he makes, you can more easily grab the block on the right, and then jump to the left one to grab the cell. The dashing is easier to make, but you'll get exhausted rather fast ; still a lot easier imo
@@FunnySnake0 are you meaning the cell at 3:40 or the cell right above that? I'm struggling to do the jump-dash to the cell and back to the block at 3:40 cause Madeline just won't grab it.
Pls tell me im not the only dumbass that kept trying to throw the thing towards the wrong springs at the last part
Darn madeline would do anything to get granny back
How do you throw jellyfish upwards? When I let it go, it goes to the side I am facing to.
i'm not throwing the jellyfish upwards anywhere, i'm throwing it against a wall then dashing up into it when it rebounds
Theres a way to "throw it" upwards. But its a bit of a pickle to do it at a constant rate. You have to let go of all keys except for the key to hold it. Then you press the down key. When you let go Madeline won't throw it and it will stay on top of her head, so you can dash up and boost grab it
Finally got all the success, i feel complete
Thanks Celeste
I recorded this as well, time to post it and then, goldens here i come
People seem to see this as harder than the golden, I would say it is an equal difficulty in practice even if it is harder platforming as the golden requires a flawless run and this requires trial and error after getting into the secret route
Man this is waaaaaaaaaaay easier than the golden
You would have to not mess up for like fourty five minutes straight trying to get the golden and one slip up would be it on the constantly hardest level in the entire game
You’ve got to be kidding me with this level of
I can say first hand, fuck that last level.
It doesn't look that much worse than chapter 9, I'll problaby go for it soon
@@khailils446 It is Chapter 9. It’s at the end of Chapter 9.
path deviation timestamp: 1:58
dying at the last dash hurt a bit but i finally beat celeste after 4786 deaths and 24 hours in pain
Man, i love doing the farewell room for 2 straight minutes for the 15th time just to fail again and again....
Edit:
I FINALLY DID IT, 4 hours spent, with 300+ deaths, but i did it, i got the berry and 100% the game🔥
Berry interesting
I'll show you to the door.
Bro I just finished chapter 9 and it took me almost a year. Catch me finding that secret strawberry in 2024
Time has come, bro 😅 good luck
the time is now
did you ever do it
@@ghostsvignettes yes! don't remember how long it took back then but after having finished the chapter it wasn't that much harder :)
Got all the way to the end and forgot to regrab the jellyfish to finish the level. Bout went to meet Granny after that.
Yeah, no. That one I won't do
I did it!
@@Iluhvahtar Nice!
@@Iluhvahtar that's some character development right there nice job!
@@Iluhvahtar And it took you only 9 months!
@@Videogueimeiro huahuahuahuauua not exactly. I dropped it after finishing Farewell after it releases. Then around 3~4 months ago I decided I'd do all C-sides. When I did that, I wondered if I should try the moon berry after noticing the save point halfway into the detour. Decided to do it and after some time trying I finally did it!
i knew i couldn't ever do it from the moment i saw the first wavedash, cause i can't wavedash to the left...
i like how the game just lets you win when you get the berries
I'm at the Moon Berry room now, and dang is it difficult. -totally not because I hate the Jellyfish-
ngl that invisible checkpoint at the farewell part kinda came in clutch
Ah, man, i got that last screen as my final on one of my randomizer seeds. I was wondering what that room was. Hopefully it won’t take me an hour and a half to pass this time lmao
Edit: it took a long while to get there but i beat the actual screen third try
i have just beaten farewell, just to look at the steam success, and read "moon berry". I was like... wtf is that? Next thing i know im watching this video and questionning my existence.
I will clear all C-sides and this god damn moon berry.
I got the moon berry and immediately after collecting it I tabbed out and my game crashed and I got sent like halfway back through chapter 9 to the last save I had but it’s aight I still got the moon berry afterwards 🗿
damn thats rough
I got so sad and angry when I died at the 3:34 part and then so relieved when I realised there's a checkpoint lol
37 hours to get the platinum. But what a rewarded sensation, probably the hardest one I ever got together with cuphead.
After about 12 hours of playing farewell and getting the moonberry, I needed up with a total death count of 5327!
i got it with total death count 2017 and like 2 hours of playing which i think is good??
@@ThatOneGuy-qw1xx that’s really good! I’m pretty sure the deaths is average, most people get 2-3 k I think, the fact that you got it done in under 2 hours is insane, highly recommend going for the moonberry
Plus I was wrong, it was only like 9-10 hours of playing farewell, and I sat afk for like 12 hours lmao
@@MarbSoda that’s with the moonberry!
(well the 2 hours was for the moon berry i played farewell for a lot longer )
@@ThatOneGuy-qw1xx 🤯 you’re a god!!!!
I actually died while fly up on the last part my mind froze up and i just fell slowly
Ouch
Ouch
Ouch
Ouch
Ouch
Just attempted this for the first time. Got it in about 90 minutes and 300~ deaths!
This makes me want to play celeste again
y'all know that feeling when you're so close to getting the berry and you accidentally press and confirm "return to map"? No just me? ok
This made me laugh
4 mins without any checkpoint?🤔 is it in original game or in mode?
That wOw was worth it for me.
The final screen in farewell wasn’t that bad but the moon berry screen was HELL
1 hour and 20 minutes
215 deaths
but i finally got it...
I love this game 💙
"Wow" seems about right
Specifically 3:40 is genuinely impossible for me.
The one above isn't too bad but I just can't get the first cell to be able to attempt the second one. (I actually haven't tried this since I made the original comment)
edit: nevermind I watched someone else's video on it and I see what you're meaning. Not sure why OP did it the way he chose to, the other is so much easier
I wish I didn’t know this existed… I’m definitely not doing it though
Hey guys, it's 2.20am here and I just reached the imaginary Moon Berry with sheer power of determination and friendship. I achieved everything in the game except for the golden berries. I can now proceed to uninstall this shit and go to sleep. Thanks for reading
Yes, I just completed 100% of the game and I just feel the same, it's finally the time to uninstall it and next time I see Celeste, it's only gonna be in videos😊😊
