I'd love it if someone experienced in that matter could take a shot of Madeline from one of the cutscenes/level complete scenes and remove the colors to compare Madeline's shade of hair with Celia's. Just a thought, was thinking it'd be cool to see if Celia had red hair when she was younger.
This isn't a chapter. It's an entire game. I loved dying through it 2876 times. 9+ hours well spent. ...and now you are telling me there is some sort of berry challenge? Oooph! Also: Your intro and outro really hurt my feelings xD But it would be worse to feature this level in the outro in a similar way.
Once I finally got the golden strawberry to the end of Farewell, just to find out I wasn’t done, I was so pissed. But I can’t stay mad at this game because the room wasn’t as bad as getting every heart, every strawberry/golden strawberry/flying golden strawberry, moon berry, completing every b-side, every c-side, spending 59:28:30, and dying 17,325 times. This game is great and very fun to 100% percent
there is no chance you got farewell golden with a total gametime under 60 hours. would make you the single greatest player of this game ever, beating everyone else to ever do it by hundreds of hours
Such a great video about an incredible game. I hope the devs will make yet another great stories in the future (not necessarily about Madeline, although I wouldn't complain). It always amazes me how people discover these extremely well-hidden locations.
I don't know how to put this exactly, but...I made a short Touhou fangame about six months back, and the experience of putting little touches and easter eggs into it because I was passionate about it and it just "felt right" to add small extra things when I thought of them makes me appreciate how passionate the developers of Celeste were about their game. Particularly since Celeste is many, many orders of magnitude larger than anything I've ever made...
I straight up cried when I saw the golden room, I took a break of like 2 weeks THEN died, about 3 full runs after, I did it, but after that I went into a hiatus of like 3 months before I got to touch the game again xDDDD
I knew there is no way I'll be able to get through chapter 9 when the PowerPoint presentation about wavedashing started,So I had to assist it through...
I’ve never seen moon berry screen done the way you were starting to do it, I always throw the jelly onto the wall and catch it when it rebounds while dashing up
When I first found the Kevin room I was terrified. I spent a straight hour researching it and couldn't find anything. The worst part was I was so scared that I literally couldn't leave.. I just wanted to find the meaning.
I was curious about something to do with the golden and moon berry, and I wasn't willing to get the golden berry because I am no where near good enough, so I was going through then... 11:11
I'm not good at precision platformers. They aren't really my cup of tea. But somebody said I wouldn't 100% the game and that I'd quit earlier, and I took it personally. ... but no way in hell I'm doing any of the golden berries. Nope nope nope nope.
I'm not sure about this but in the room where learn for the first time how to carry the jellyfish, you can see platforms and a dash refresher above the path you're supposed to take. So that could be something but you'd need 2 dashes because that's too much height...
What's funny about the demo dash room is that I knew about it, and the first time I tried going for it I kept messing up the secret entry, but when I eventually got it I managed to pull off the 2 consecutive demos first try I promptly started screaming after that
I intentionally didn’t watch this video until I saw a full playthrough to not be spoiled, but I think it’s time. I believe a guy called Eenox was the first to legitimately golden strawberry this game. I even saw his “meme” run where he went through all the hard secrets, even the moon berry and the golden strawberry can be done at the same time. (In the room you have to die in the golden strawberry moves to the end of it). I fanboyed so hard when I saw the final golden room with the flag. I played the Pico-8 version in school before I even knew about Celeste being a full game. I speedran it, and one day I searched up the name and would ya know, it’s on Steam as something even greater! I’m glad this game doesn’t forget its origins. Thank you developers.
This level was such a wild ride for me. Shattering all my previous negative records of other levels. Most time spent in one level, went from 8 hours on Summit B (haven't touched C's yet apart from Chapter 1) to... 22 hours. Most deaths suffered in one level, went from 2.2k in Summit B to 5.1k Most frustration from missing jumps just by tiny margins or failing what feels like too much swapped from Core A&B to Farewell. I started this Chapter, thinking that it'll be a nice trip to celebrate what I had done prior. Then the lightning stikes and granny is a grave. Ouch. That hit me more than the death of my actual grandma. Because that was a shocker to me instead of me knowing that it'll be easier because she was sick and in pain. I got to the white crystal heart and assumed "Oh baby. I done it. Final Level complete" but OH NO. It continued. I struggled and got frustrated about the wavedash because I wanted to do it too fast. But calming down helped. I reached the final checkpoint and the short reassurance from Madelines other self was nice to hear. I needed that. I held through, learnt the patterns and did it. And then I went back in to get the moon berry, spending another additional 2 hours 43 in the level, giving 400 more lives. I feel accomplished now and with confidence about the C-Sides I skipped on. But I don't think I'll manage Farewell Golden any time soon..
I was hoping for some info about the jellyfish alternate route :\ when you get to the first jellyfish you can hover and then dash upwards to get to a platform higher up, that you have to do that dash long jump off of to get to a really annoying jellyfish challenge.
I think it's just an alternate route for speedrunners, as it requires you to perform wavedashes even before the game teaches you that move. Whether or not it's a faster route remains to be seen.
Sorry I haven't said anything, I was avoiding spoilers until I could get the moon berry! I completed chapter 9 in a day, but the moon berry is a whole lot harder than I thought it would be going off the hint "Go back at the end of the final screen"
Oh man, I think I was a bit under halfway done before I decided I needed to stop. I don't know how much I'll have to redo since I don't know how much it save checkpoints you, but oh well. I'll beat it tomorrow. The moonberry shall be mine then as well!
“Some people think Maddy might be trans” *THINK!? YOU THINK!? WHEN MADDY THORSON, TRANS CREATOR OF CELESTE, WITH TRANS WOMAN COMPOSER WHOSE NAME SLIPS MY MIND, HELPED DEVELOP CELESTE!? YOU THINK MADELINE MIGHT BE TRANS!?* (Joke)
I found another "secret" in chapter 9. It's not so hidden so you probably know already about it, but since it's not in the video, here i go ! Right after the very first time you see a jelly fish, there is a skip. Instead of going down, you have to go up right. I won't tell you how (unless you ask of course), but there is another room after that. It looked super hard. I didn't know about the wave dash at that time, so that seems super hard. I'm no speedrunner or anything, and i spent a few hundreds of lives trying to get to that room and finish it, but the reward was disappointing. Is there anything i missed in this room ?
There's more two easter eggs that was missing in the video, but it's fun to mention. One of them is in when the background turns purple, you can see that there's a broken tower there, together with a broken heart and a broken car. The tower can be a reference for Towerfall, which is a game from Matt (when he had Matt Makes Games) and Madeline makes a cameo on it. The second one stays on those blue/yellow/red/green blocks part. The second room of that part shows 4 blocks together, each one with a different color. It's an easter egg about their new studio, Extremely OK.
At least that extra room you get for the golden strawberry is dumb easy compared to everything else you would’ve done at that point. I shall now solemnly swear that I shall reach that final room legitimately one day! Whether it a take months, years, or even a decade. I shall do it!
I'm really glad this video exists, because during the red bubble sequence after collecting all the keys I saw the openin in the crystals from where the alt route sends you out, but at the time I thought that crystal opening was a secret room that I would have to dash into from the red bubble, really glad I could just see it here so I didn't have to bother only to find nothing
i actually done chapter 9 golden online and when i got to the golden room everyone was there watching me attempt it and i died the very next run i made it to the golden room and got the golden and my final berry in the game
Celeste was a masterpiece from level 1-8 . I played 19 hours the last 3 days and died 6000 without getting angry. 30 min in this level I called It quits , it would have ruined the game experience😅

Yea, I think it's still too new to be doing that
Once I finally got the golden strawberry to the end of Farewell, just to find out I wasn’t done, I was so pissed.
There's flying Goldens????
@@coldfire2742 should be at the very end of one of the chapters. Maybe I just wasn’t remembered right, but I’m pretty sure it exists
@@p00p_eater Chapter 1 has it
there is no chance you got farewell golden with a total gametime under 60 hours. would make you the single greatest player of this game ever, beating everyone else to ever do it by hundreds of hours
@@oniondesu9633 Maybe you’re just shit at the game lol
If you reach the golden room with the golden strawberry, your heart rate is either double or nothing
Such a great video about an incredible game. I hope the devs will make yet another great stories in the future (not necessarily about Madeline, although I wouldn't complain).
It always amazes me how people discover these extremely well-hidden locations.
Modding scene is where it's at
i really thought you had to go back in the final rooms and that the moon berry was a thing you always get... huh
Did you find the skip with the first medusa ? At 11:47 you can go left from there, It makes you go in the room at 11:54 !
I did, took a minute, but I got it
3:52 Finally someone else found it
Wow, so many secrets I hadn't seen yet. Thanks for making this video!
On debug mode, from the map select, it's far to the right of the edge of the stage if anybody has trouble finding it.
What if the golden room is the end of Celia's climb?
I straight up cried when I saw the golden room, I took a break of like 2 weeks THEN died, about 3 full runs after, I did it, but after that I went into a hiatus of like 3 months before I got to touch the game again xDDDD
Looks like madeline has a gaming keyboard
I knew there is no way I'll be able to get through chapter 9 when the PowerPoint presentation about wavedashing started,So I had to assist it through...
It's all good, you go at your own rate
wow this video has a lot of views!
It's because intro car is in the thumbnail. Change my mind
No need, it's true
INTRO CAR
My heart just dropped the moment you died in the golden strawberry room, I can already feel the amount of hours lost attempting that.
I’ve never seen moon berry screen done the way you were starting to do it, I always throw the jelly onto the wall and catch it when it rebounds while dashing up
I'm bad at the game :(
When I first found the Kevin room I was terrified. I spent a straight hour researching it and couldn't find anything. The worst part was I was so scared that I literally couldn't leave.. I just wanted to find the meaning.
3:55 well judging the colors and all the screen for me displays either ch4 or ch7
I was curious about something to do with the golden and moon berry, and I wasn't willing to get the golden berry because I am no where near good enough, so I was going through then... 11:11
bonk
8:33 That's called an anti-softlock lol
Hope you didn't get the golden strawberry to that point
@@gferrol118 it detaches if you do get to that point
I'm not good at precision platformers. They aren't really my cup of tea.
But somebody said I wouldn't 100% the game and that I'd quit earlier, and I took it personally.
... but no way in hell I'm doing any of the golden berries. Nope nope nope nope.
Yoo, I've been looking for a video like this like a hour ago, Thanks!
XD I've been working on it all day... just upload it. Much more to come
Oh hye!
@@iamdadbod I'm looking forward to it.
I'm not sure about this but in the room where learn for the first time how to carry the jellyfish, you can see platforms and a dash refresher above the path you're supposed to take. So that could be something but you'd need 2 dashes because that's too much height...
I've actually found all of this but I never tried talking to Granny for some reason
What's funny about the demo dash room is that I knew about it, and the first time I tried going for it I kept messing up the secret entry, but when I eventually got it I managed to pull off the 2 consecutive demos first try
I promptly started screaming after that
I intentionally didn’t watch this video until I saw a full playthrough to not be spoiled, but I think it’s time.
Lennygold was first, eenox did a full golden and moonberry run
iamdadbod Nice
Also, what if Granny/Celia is Madeline's actual grandma? The old her looks a lot like Madeline does now.
Could be
I thought Celia was Theo’s grandma. (Late reply ik)
that is not the same strat I used for the moon berry and I'm honestly kinda stunned how different your strat is from mine.
It's amazing how many ways you can do something in this game. It's inviting to many ways get past its obstacles while still being difficult as hell.
This level was such a wild ride for me. Shattering all my previous negative records of other levels.
Most time spent in one level, went from 8 hours on Summit B (haven't touched C's yet apart from Chapter 1) to... 22 hours.
Most deaths suffered in one level, went from 2.2k in Summit B to 5.1k
Most frustration from missing jumps just by tiny margins or failing what feels like too much swapped from Core A&B to Farewell.
Awesome journey, gg
Like if you got moonbery
I was hoping for some info about the jellyfish alternate route :\ when you get to the first jellyfish you can hover and then dash upwards to get to a platform higher up, that you have to do that dash long jump off of to get to a really annoying jellyfish challenge.
I think it's just an alternate route for speedrunners, as it requires you to perform wavedashes even before the game teaches you that move. Whether or not it's a faster route remains to be seen.
It's in my run that's coming up.
Sorry I haven't said anything, I was avoiding spoilers until I could get the moon berry! I completed chapter 9 in a day, but the moon berry is a whole lot harder than I thought it would be going off the hint "Go back at the end of the final screen"
Hope you enjoyed it!
@@iamdadbod It was amazing, but I'm sad it's over

Funny how the next video on my autoplay is actually a person finishing chapter 9 with the golden strawberry
That's a gg tight there

2:56 stretching?

I found another "secret" in chapter 9. It's not so hidden so you probably know already about it, but since it's not in the video, here i go !
Right after the very first time you see a jelly fish, there is a skip. Instead of going down, you have to go up right. I won't tell you how (unless you ask of course), but there is another room after that. It looked super hard. I didn't know about the wave dash at that time, so that seems super hard.
I'm no speedrunner or anything, and i spent a few hundreds of lives trying to get to that room and finish it, but the reward was disappointing. Is there anything i missed in this room ?
Thank you, but you didn't miss anything. It's just an alt path for speed runs
i just imagine at the end of the golden strawberry room Madeline dies on the spikes badeline threw her into instead of the ending playing.
the lightning almost made me cry when i started the chapter, i was not ready for this
The feels...
0:00 relatable. 9:20 oh lmao i did that before i watched any vid on it. Good for me?
At least that extra room you get for the golden strawberry is dumb easy compared to everything else you would’ve done at that point.
I shall now solemnly swear that I shall reach that final room legitimately one day! Whether it a take months, years, or even a decade. I shall do it!
Yea... just getting there is crazy enough
Finished this chapter today... whew that was intense

Celeste was a masterpiece from level 1-8 . I played 19 hours the last 3 days and died 6000 without getting angry. 30 min in this level I called It quits , it would have ruined the game experience😅
I'm managed to skip the gate on my own, I'm current playing it before beating most b-sides. It's hell, I'll drop and go through the game normally, but I want to get to a checkpoint first.
