I got to play that bass when I was in music school and it absolutely is the most explosive tone monster I have ever laid hands on. I have never found a bass like it. It is almost a religious experience. I have had the extreme honor of encountering Vic and his brothers many times over my career back in the early 2000s and they are some of the most genuinely nice and humble musicians you could ever meet.
JD Blair. Saw him with the Wootens about 20 years ago. He said he had recently finished a tour with Shania Twain and remarked that the view from the back was much better on that tour than with the Wootens. 😂
That spot on his bass that's discolored comes from just practicing twenty four fucking seven. It's symbolic of his god damn voracious hunger for music. Such a beautiful soul.
The first time I ever saw him was in a clinic and he was carrying his baby in a carrier, I held the door for him and his wife. I got to meet his whole family in Nashville several years later. They are really stellar people. The last time I saw him we had a big discussion about music and something I said to him kind of touched him, and he hugged me, probably the best moment in my musical career.
These old videos never get old. Watching Vic and Reggie trade licks always makes my jaw drop as if I'm seeing it for the first time. The Wootens are legendary!!!👍🏽👍🏽
Aside of the crazy technique Victor has, is the natural dynamics which takes years to adopt. Even then, Victor at this point only thinks of delivering music from heart which is the ultimate goal. Just truly gifted bass player and musician in general.
I love how Victor can be so versatile with a 4-string....unlike other people who don't really understand the beauty that can come from simplicity and good knowledge of your instrument....
@K M você está certo meu Amigo!! A simplicidade de um instrumento se torna em algo tão lindo quando o músico o preenche com suas técnicas como o Vitor💫
in the late 90s my bass teacher lend me this vhs tape, and i showed it to my friends while being extemely high on weed..... we couldn't believe this, laughs for weeks.......best time ever
Holy shit I know this vids 10 years old but thanks a ton for uploading this!!! The Wooten brothers are amazing but Victor's bass is just audible chocolate! Thanks again
Hi guys. Thanks for the views and comments on Victor's Super Technique Clips. I recently decided to start making covers of songs. So if you guys could head over to my channel and check out my first cover. I would really appreciate it(: Also if you guys have any suggestions on a cover you would like to hear, go ahead and leave a comment on my cover video. Thank You in advanced for your support :P See you all soon
@Carlos Espinosa: That's Victor's older brother Regi Wooten playing guitar. He taught Victor how to play. Vic talks about some of his family's musical history here: Music as a Language: Victor Wooten at TEDxGabriolaIsland
This is the music that made Victor Great. Music Funki and Magic.I would like Victor come back to more of this magic an less technical show. This music make your body move.Thats what the bass should do.Bass should be used for this. There are others instruments if you want to be melodic.
This progression reminds me of the theme tune from the TV show The Professionals. Those of you from the UK aged about 50..and male, will know what I'm talking about! This version is better though 😅
He wore out the varnish on that bass. Like, fuck a black belt. Show me a black belt that turned white from use. First you master technique, then you return to the beginning.
This has to be my favorite victor wooten song
That groove is so damn sick, the tone of his bass is killer too.
Some would argue it's his best tone ever...

What seriously disciplined drummer omg. His pocket is massive.
Doesn't budge
I know right, thats real talent
JD Blair. Saw him with the Wootens about 20 years ago. He said he had recently finished a tour with Shania Twain and remarked that the view from the back was much better on that tour than with the Wootens. 😂
His pocket can hold the groove
@@jonnya3425 I thought that might be JD.
That spot on his bass that's discolored comes from just practicing twenty four fucking seven. It's symbolic of his god damn voracious hunger for music. Such a beautiful soul.
Victor Wooten is the most complete bass player I've ever listened to.
10 4 Bro
Slap, tapping, fingers, he’s got it all, I agree.
@@nachovski but most importantly... musicality
Jeppp
I think he might want most complete musicians walking the planet.
Best bassist on Planet Earth. A great dad too!
I would totally have to agree great thing about him is he's so humble
Let's not forget a great person also.
The first time I ever saw him was in a clinic and he was carrying his baby in a carrier, I held the door for him and his wife. I got to meet his whole family in Nashville several years later. The definition of Groove.

I'm here 2023 and beyond still watching this...
Victor Wooooooooooten!!!!
Aside of the crazy technique Victor has, is the natural dynamics which takes years to adopt. Even then, Victor at this point only thinks of delivering music from heart which is the ultimate goal. Just truly gifted bass player and musician in general.
This is probably the best song I've ever heard

profound

Speak Truth
I'd hardly call this groove simple, it is a bass feature after all.
Why the low B hate.
the master of the bass
Man I miss this tone on Victor, so sharp, aggressive, percussive, bright... it feels like the bass is bending, amazing
I could listen to this over and over all day long. Never gets old! Amazing performance. Victor Wooten Rocks!
Oh god Vic battling his brother must have been the coolest thing I've seen, WTF
Lol, I just broke up with my girlfriend and his bass lines have been healing the fuck out of my soul. Literal magic.
Hope you're doing well brother.
Hope it’s all good
in the late 90s my bass teacher lend me this vhs tape, and i showed it to my friends while being extemely high on weed..... we couldn't believe this, laughs for weeks.......best time ever
Anyone can play bass like this, the secret is in the pants
I love the pants almost as much as the bass!
Jajaja xD
The Pants? Damn! Think they'll refund me for the hat?
Hahaha😂
Thats what she said
The tone 🔥
His playing is just way out there tight. Jeez. amazing to watch a bass player like this.
Sheesh - Sir Victor is my favorite bass player.
Every once in a while I fall in love with a song and play it over and over. I'm completely in love with this groove.
If you haven't seen Victor's personal show, you don't know how good of a guitar player Reggie is.
He is Victors teacher so it makes sense hes good
Agree he's fantastic, but I wonder why they didn't show him playing his solo?
Tighter than hotel sheets...wow
Now that's a good one
Tighter than a mouse's eardrum.
Tighter Than A Knats Ass
Man I gotta use that one, thats hilarious!
I'm stealin that
This father is a creative and highly innovative and unique bassist. You are my mentor, Dr. Victor.
I just can't stop listening to this song I've never seen a player going Rouge on the base like this man excellent stuff
Melhor baixista de todos os tempos!! Vou passar mais 15 anos ouvindo esse cara.
Yeah this is really super bass
This is the best sound you can get from the bass
Wow look how young Vic is in this... What a killer groove by a killer bass legend... I love bass so, so much
Holy shit I know this vids 10 years old but thanks a ton for uploading this!!! The Wooten brothers are amazing but Victor's bass is just audible chocolate! Thanks again
Nothing better than practice with this song !!!
Love when Reggie riffs off Purple Haze. Dope.
That was not reggie, it was not a guitar solo, watch it again and you will see him accomping with chords.
It's his brother on keyboard Joseph
at 2:20?
VIC AND THE BOYS JAMMIN.

How I love this father of bass
Wooten is so solid.

Ok. He’s the goat.
how is there a thumbs down on this? This is awesome!
They missed the bass string
Divine genius!
Keyboardist is amazing too. Like Chicago's 25 or 6 to 4 guitar solo. & Purple Haze.
Nostalgic funk
I love Wooten...
Excelente
5:00 to 5:33 at that moment, listen carefully to what he does with this riff. he's an absolute genius
I have it from a very reliable source, that you will experience an exceedingly difficult time holding a Groove, in the absence of a Pocket.
Prince vibes❤
Haha some nice Purple Haze riff at 2:20 !
If one day I get to play that bass line,I'd wear like Victor Wooten the rest of my life.
Still too this day. Songs just fuckin MMmmmmmmmmmmm
This progression reminds me of the theme tune from the TV show The Professionals. Those of you from the UK aged about 50..and male, will know what I'm talking about! This version is better though 😅
oh my gosh at 5:31 did the rhythm guitarist just slap on his Guitar? lol I like it
+Daniel Boynes Man that's "The Teacher", he basically taught Vic, and that entire group everything (they're brothers).
+Falonefal ok that's amazing
check out the wear on his bass.. no pickguard
are u fucking serius ?
He has not a common way to slap, but he's amazing !
Oooh calm down, RHCP is my favourite band, Flea is a great bassist too :(
i KNOW IT ! :D flea is great but those guys are another lvl man
Flea slaps like crazy too, for me he's very talented, maybe not like Wooten, but I don't want to say bad things about Flea ^^
:D i've listen to flea when i started playing bass now i pass to the next lvl , not commercial music anymore , i hope u understand
Commercial or not, when I like the music, I just like ! x)
victor played best when he wore that hat
I met JD Blair in LR. Cool guy.
This is the lick 3:04
Anyone knows the name of the guy playing the guitar? He's amazing.
Reggie Wooten

He wore out the varnish on that bass. Like, fuck a black belt. Show me a black belt that turned white from use. First you master technique, then you return to the beginning.
