TD2503CU and TD3003CU were the absolute reels to have. Big question on these new reels......have they fixed the line lay or do they still include washers for US to fix it?
The last 3 tdrs I've had all had terrible line lay and 2 went back due too problems with the one way bearing one of those went back to daiwa and came back worse than when it left me.
The previous version TDR 18 had 8 ball bearings, this latest version TDR 24 has 7 ball bearings and they changed the colour of the spool, and it costs more.
I have just got back into fishing and I mostly enjoy fishing for carp, I have a question please with help in buying 2 new carp reels, so most of my time I shall fish at a small size carp lake that holds upto 25 ish lb in weight the average being around 10, occasionally I would like to re visit some big pit lakes that I went to many years ago, so the question is there a reel I can buy that would suit best of both scenarios instead of needing 4 reels, is there no reels out there that come with the ability to have a standard spool and an extra long range spool that fit the same reel, my budget is 300 for the pair of reels thank you.
All Daiwa 25QDA reels are pretty similar. All good reels. It's mainly spool capacity that is different. The deeper spool ones are marketed at Carp Anglers and the shallower at feeder anglers. All 25 size. I use Caztizm 25 QDA's for long distance feeder and specimen (tench, bream pike) fishing. I just need to use backing. The Castizm 25QDA is discontinued but replaced by the Whisker 25QDA. And whatever they have now. 😊 Haven't changed much in ten years. Japan have other models. But all very similar.
Regarding wind on/ wind off handles daiwa and shimano are years behind in the uk market in this respect, I have a number of reels STILL in use from the 1990's that feature such handles and there is absolutely no need to fully unwind any of them as past a certain point they can be folded and stay attached to the reel and when the reel is next used 4 to 5 turns and I'm fishing with a reel with all of the advantages of this system, sadly back when many reels had this system it wasn't particularly well received by both the press and the angling public so manufacturers switched to the more common cap and screw shaft through to the handle system, as its the "big two" whom are promoting it belatedly in the uk it will finally gain universal acceptance, maybe! Badge snobbery is alive and kicking in the 21st century lol!
The round foam handles are slippery when wet. Just saying,... Much prefer the flat ones. Loved my old ones, but all the anti-reverse mechanisms broke on them.
Unlike us mice love the foam handle.knob . The foam knob alone will stop me from buying a TDR and with current discounts the Tournament can be bought for the same price you get 3 x spools and mag sealed with a proper handle knob with the Tournament.
I think he meant silver for the c u reel, the Shimano stradic was white .

Folding handle issue is to do with salt water ingress into places ,where it causes corrosion.thats why certates didnt even have a backwind switch.
Shimano reels for me 😮
Are they £150 better than the shimano aero xr?
The after sales definitely is better with diawa
@@markwhibley9787 what do you base this comment on> I have always found Shimano after sales service fine.
Folding handle how much extra for that lol??
