Funnily enough I was in there comparing the Daiwa / Preston poles and ended up buying it from Capital Angling . Brilliant service from them . Poles superb
This is the flagship for This year, that tells you everything you need to know about Preston. Iv moved away from diawa a couple Of times and always regretted it and gone back. It’s a personal choice at the end of the day but I know what I would choose every single time.
The Preston needs the dolly butt to get to 16m according to Preston website, so the Daiwa need its dolly and another extension to get 16m, the Daiwa at 16m according to Alan was probably c14.2m and clearly less stiff! £300 also buys you a lot more top kits (with rollers fitted) which are better and a lot cheaper than Daiwa kits, but for existing Daiwa users it will be blinkers on.
Daiwa is 16m though with the dolly on it. Without the dolly it’s 15.2m the Daiwa has a longer dolly than the Preston anyway. Deffo not 14.2 full length and only ever needs another full extension if you got short four and short kit on it.
The daiwa boys wont like this at all but since the release of the superium range the preston poles have been way better in all areas better value for money cheaper spares better performance. The old superium x70 is better than anything upto the airity and it was less than 2 grand. The superium carp pole is awesome and wont let you down with anything. And its not bias because i was always a daiwa pole man untill the superium range and there all interchangeable so spares forever just like daiwa
Great feature, couple of questions, why do we never mention the weights? For me though my budget was £1700, but after trying the Diawa , and Preston poles, I was shocked at the weight at 16 meter, so my question is, are the poles naturally heavy at 16 meter, X75 and X55, really found these to be very top heavy, never had a 16 meter previously, but do others find it the same? ????
You should have tried picking up sixteen metres a few years back it wouldn't be as light stiff & strong as poles today it's a fine balance to light & they break to stiff they are heavy .
I’m sure the Daiwa is only 15.2 or 15.4m with the 16m butt section on. You definitely need the 0.8m ext to get it close to a true 16m pole. Also the PI X96 does need a dolly butt to get to a true 16m.
@markwhibley9787 The reason I said the Air Z is because it's Diawa flagship pole as is the Preston superium 95 . I never thought about the cost comparison

Good review could you possibly do the x75 against the g90
Could you put the Preston x15 next to your middy
I bought the Tournament S a year ago and am surprised how strong that is! can handle carp of 10lb no problem.
I know which one will hold it’s value. Surpraised at the length difference though.

Recently swapped to the airty pro after having map for years and the Airity isnt as stiff as my 901 3g was but its definately significantly stronger
Can we have a landing net pole episode best at all price ranges 👍
Superb informed and unbiased comparison. Thank you. Can you put the X95 against the Maver RXX please? Similar poles in the same price bracket.
I wanted the sane 😊
Could you put Maver MVRXX also next to these two, similar price point. Thank you Dave G

Hi Allen and tom can you do a comparison between the preston x25 14.5 meter and a matrix mtx2 power v2 14.5 please 👍🎣🎣
I would like to see that too. 🤞
Thing for me is the spares... Easy to get daiwa spares but not as easy with the Preston gear
Preston spares are a massive joke
Wish you put the matrix mtx 5 in the mix too ,great vid though
Would like to see it compared to the Shimano Aero Pro at 16 metres.

Daiwa spares great, Preston no comment
Made in Scotland 🏴
Always daiwa for me due to the availability of spare parts
I still think the original tournament pro is the best daiwa pole ever

The other previous one was the XS90 before that as you said M90
If your going to wickersley pole alley and these poles are in budget then check out the Colmic nuclear s31 against both before you spend your money
Agreed s31 is the one and I'm a Garbolino fanboy
X75 against the G90
Would be nice to see the Shimano X7 against those
Can you put the x90 and x95 next
airity is a commercial pole its branded as so
Why are you comparing what's basically a diawa carp pole against a preston match pole. Why not the Air Z against the superium 95.
Probably the price, maybe the tournament s would be a good comparison
@markwhibley9787 The reason I said the Air Z is because it's Diawa flagship pole as is the Preston superium 95 . I never thought about the cost comparison
Daiwa are short changing you for only giving you 15.5 metres.should be 16 metres. An extension makes something longer than it should be.
The PHEX extension supplied with the pole takes it to true 16m. They just didn't have one to show us.
I've got the guru n gauge pro an it's fantastic better than the aventus 900 .
