“Immersing myself in medieval horror stories feels like stepping into a captivating Eris charm, a world where darkness and mystery intertwine seamlessly. Unlike the chaos of the modern era, there’s a unique allure to the medieval tales that transcends the comforts of today. The appeal lies in the ancient whispers that echo through time, making me prefer the medieval over the modern any day.” Great videos as always mate.
A medieval werewolf tale where the werewolf is not a savage killing machine bent on distruction of everything and everyone….unbelievable. It must come from very early Middle Ages or even before, as no way the medieval church would let a tale like that circulate…..I love it. 💞
A lot of werewolf legends in Europe feature werewolves that keep their human intelligence and even the ability to speak in wolf form. We only know about those with “evil” werewolves (which were already evil as humans, not cursed to become bloodthirsty monsters but already bloodthirsty monsters who became werewolves to be able to maim and kill people better) because they’re more spectacular and dramatic, and they make for good stories.
Just wanted to say I really appreciate your content, always interesting and I love your sense of humor. The graphics are fantastic👌 there's nothing like middle ages/medieval art, I wish my childhood story books would've had some of those incredible and sometimes hilarious images!
If anyone's very keen on Medieval Tradition, mindset and warfare I hotly recommend Schwerpunkt's videos series. The dives into Medieval spirituality are mind-blowing to say the least
Lmao 99% of people are not going to find that channel even remotely palatable, it’s the most pedantic channel on this platform, and the guy is entrenched in eurocentrism to a painfully obvious degree. Fuck no. I used to sub to him and was often one of only a few people that would even comment, but quickly unsubbed when it became obvious where his personal ideology and sentiments lie. No thanks.
@@nyxspiritsong5557Schwerpunkt is not similar to this channels style at all. It’s deep level minutiae involving the Middle Ages. Tbh unless you are studying that period in university, it is likely not what most people would want to sit and listen to.
Should do one for modern times Like electric bill Gas bill Petrol and grocery shopping That's scary enough lol Mind you still lots succubuses out on a Saturday night So nothing ever changes lol 👍🤗
That first story is obviously true. Women in that line continue to be born without noses to this day. I haven't listened to the rest of the video yet, but I'm sure all of them are accurate and true, and those doubting them simply don't understand how these things work.
"i have a question but am afraid to ask you lest you become angry with me..." "no never, my love! ask it and if i know, i will tell you." "would it bother you if you found out I am screwing your brother?" "😲😡🔪" never say never 😁
Hi do you have any book recommendations on British folklore, myths, legends, superstitions ? I am always up for good British history and British social history recommendations if you have any I would be very very grateful. Best wishes lindz
Thanks to modern media, the Succubi has undergone some changes. While they DO still sexually prey upon mortal creatures, some stories depict them as misunderstood. One book I read this year called Legends & Lattes, for instance features a Succubus protagonist (albeit a secondary protagonist) named Tandri. The way HER powers work is that she can sense the lustful emotions of other people and beings near her but she doesn't seduce them like most of her kind would
Do you ppl even read the other comments? Youre like the 50th person in the last week to post this. Feel better for correcting someone on the internet now? Lol the only people that care how its pronounced ALREADY KNOW HOW ITS PRONOUNCED. You think him pronouncing it incorrectly matters that much in that case?
I can’t with this “sam-hayn” stuff anymore, for the love of all that is Irish it’s “SOW-IN”. I know it makes no sense, it’s a batshit crazy language but please, _p l e a s e_ everyone, stop it with the sam-hayn.
Jesus, medieval writers sure did hate women, didn’t they? More than half of those stories just made women out to be like a walking, talking scourge of all men. Ah misogyny, ruining womens lives since……well, the beginning of human history
Typical woman. My missus is constantly on at me about wandering around the woods naked thinks I’m bananas for shouting at the moon. Now I know why, she just wants to get back with her ex who identifies at a cat
*'rips the knight apart and bites off the woman's nose'* The King; Hmm, this seems personal.
Keen observation, my friend!
And she learnt not to be so nosy thereafter...
Reminds me of Grimm’s Fairytales. The unabridged version.
2:06 Dude was not about to admit to sleeping around 😂 I want to see a hidden camera show of someone unironically telling their spouse just that
Forgot the most gruesome of all...
The Rabbit of Caerbannog!
hahaha 👍
That's no ordinary rabbit! 🐰That's the most foul, cruel, and bad-tempered rodent you ever set eyes on! 🐇
I love that you covered the Linton worm. I grew up on a farm just down the road from the village. Thanks ❤😊

Black Meg crushed by a horse, I like that. It’s a refreshing end of the story. Not the brave soldier, but an old mare saves the day.

Loved this. Some of them made me laugh out loud. I'm glad I didn't live back then with all these monsters at large
We still have monsters in our time. Human monsters.
Love these stories! Would love to hear more!
If anyone's very keen on Medieval Tradition, mindset and warfare I hotly recommend Schwerpunkt's videos series. The dives into Medieval spirituality are mind-blowing to say the least
Cool! Thanks for the recommendation!! I've binge watched all of this channels videos and I've been looking for new medieval stuff!! You rock!

Might wanna add another “very” or two in there…
Thanks for the rec - great new channel!
The most fascinating is the language of the medieval. "He even kissed the kings feet"
What
Kind of a nitpick, but Samhain is pronounced saw-wen or sow-wen. Unless it’s the band name led by glen danzig 😂
Didn't see your comment and just posted the same, lol!
Celtic languages are pretty confusing for people who never experienced the languages.
That was fun! Thanks
If I lived back then and escaped the plague, these stories would have definitely done me in.😱
This was an awesome video!! Can you please make more like this? These legends are fascinating!! 😄😄
'In the Clutches of a Mountain Demon' ... ah, my favorite Uriah Heep song!
Damn! I want a Bisclavret movie now
"Born without noses" LMAO
Its snot anything to laugh about.
And now how will you sit - having laughed your ass off? 🤔
Wow, was not expecting that wolf man story to end like blindside, but damn talk about karma for being a nosy wife
Talk to me about that succubussy
Scandinavia has alot of interesting tales and nordic beings, if you found this video interesting and want to look up some more!
Should do one for modern times
Like electric bill
Gas bill
Petrol and grocery shopping
That's scary enough lol
Mind you still lots succubuses out on a Saturday night
So nothing ever changes lol 👍🤗
Love these stories.
The beast of gevaudan
Uhhh, you pronounced my name wrong..
Zombie Jesus would definitely scare me... Oh wait
I dunno I like Old Meg, perhaps she reminds me of myself...
Okay, so the horse killed Meg. The knight was just there while it happened.
Samhain is pronounced "Sawin".
Bad enough having to go into battle, then you find yourself up against a giant snail...
What is the music is playing during the bisclavret story?
Whats the music in the first chapter? Very interesting tune
I'll die.
"But the lady continued to harass her husband..."
😂😂
Yeah you can see in a lot of these stories that paganism has intertwined with Christianity.
more like christianity intertwined with paganism .
Yay!
Sam Hayn? Sow When... Samhain.
Incubus?
The male version of a succubus.
Yeah I know, but he doesn’t cover it, even though he showed pics of a woman with an incubus @@terriwetz6077
Bvg is awesome
Imagine wrecking someone so hard their descendants are born with the same wreckage.
The only problem I have with your videos is, they're too short.
I agree! I hate it when it comes to an end. So interesting to listen to. I love them!
What is the music during the bisclavret section?
I tried that werewolf story on my X wife but she followed me and caught me in the woods with the girl from the supermarket
She did take my pants.
That first story is obviously true. Women in that line continue to be born without noses to this day.
I haven't listened to the rest of the video yet, but I'm sure all of them are accurate and true, and those doubting them simply don't understand how these things work.
And after the brave knight's horse killed the old witch he exclaimed shut up Meg 🐴
Samhain is not pronounced sam-han it sounds like 'Sawen'
The Demon's Castle looks rather like Harlech Castle, if I'm not mistaken.
These kind of stories come disproportionately from the Scottish border (see also the border ballads).
"i have a question but am afraid to ask you lest you become angry with me..."
"no never, my love! ask it and if i know, i will tell you."
"would it bother you if you found out I am screwing your brother?"
"😲😡🔪"
never say never 😁
I think the funniest part of the werewolf story is that after getting her nose bitten off the ex wife’s children are all born without noses
Samhain is pronounced sow-when, it’s Gaelic.
I think Samhain is pronounced Sah-wen, or so a witch once told me. I guess Dark Age Europeans didn’t know how to spell.
The spelling is likely Gaelic.
Yes or some say “sow-wen” in their dialect.
No. Witches are not real and 'wicca' is a load of hot topic dogshit.
"I have many mistresses my lady"

Excuse me while i write a pointlessly eloquent paragraph of a comment so i can feel more intelligent and uppity about everyone
Samhain. Pronounced sow-an
Do you ppl even read the other comments? Youre like the 50th person in the last week to post this. Feel better for correcting someone on the internet now? Lol the only people that care how its pronounced ALREADY KNOW HOW ITS PRONOUNCED. You think him pronouncing it incorrectly matters that much in that case?
It’s pronounced “Sawhen”
Samhein is pronounced SOW- when
A little note on pronounciation
Roxburghshire = Roxburruh-shire (shire as in The Shire in Lord of the Rings)
Jedburgh = Jedburruh
The werewolf story is why you go mgtow. I'm glad he got them some medieval treatment. ❤
I love your channel but it is NOT called SAM-HANE!!! It is pronounced SAA-WIN.
Man the medieval's we're very anti-climatic I think the best story by far is the first one bis clavrit
I can’t with this “sam-hayn” stuff anymore, for the love of all that is Irish it’s “SOW-IN”.
I know it makes no sense, it’s a batshit crazy language but please, _p l e a s e_ everyone, stop it with the sam-hayn.
Surely no-one from current times believe these stories from the past?
why not ? people believe in a god .
Why do so many ancient drawings look like they were crudely done by children??
Jesus, medieval writers sure did hate women, didn’t they? More than half of those stories just made women out to be like a walking, talking scourge of all men. Ah misogyny, ruining womens lives since……well, the beginning of human history
It's pronounced "Sow Rin"
Typical woman. My missus is constantly on at me about wandering around the woods naked thinks I’m bananas for shouting at the moon. Now I know why, she just wants to get back with her ex who identifies at a cat
Never tell women your secrets
The guy in the thumbnail looks like Adrian Brody
