    The idea of living in those dark, brutal times - and believing your soul is always in peril - is scary enough! I can imagine, though, the comfort of sitting by a warm, bright hearth in autumn or winter and listening to an older person sing ballads and tell stories.

      For as dark and scary as the times may have been, hearing about what daily lives were like and what people did for fun, I can't help but imagine that people had times of immense happiness as well.

    Very very well researched and enticing work! I thought the account given by Rodulfus Glaber ( @ 3:39 "A Demonic Visitor" ) was fascinating as there have been other stories like this one and today mainstream science views these episodes as 'sleep paralysis', of which (wiki-quote here) affect 8% of the general population at least once in their lifetime. I experienced it as a young child where a red faced, yellow eyed laughing man was choking me. Truly a most terrifying experience, though it is somewhat fuzzy and cartoon-like to me now. Memory can be interesting that way.

      @electropocalypse5877 Год назад +1

      100%! I can't believe I missed that LOL. Emaciated (mentioned above) sounds right on the money, though I think the word cadaverous would've been even more grisly and terrifying. I will add I must hand it to Medieval Madness for his great vocabulary. I honestly think British, Irish, Scottish, New Zealand and Australian people (I hope I got 'em all) have better focus on speech and grammar than we do in the far West. Still, nothing is as it was in my grandparents days which is frustrating to me. A persons manner of speech was far more respected then and people were often classed that way. Nowadays we have spellchecks everywhere with poor vocabulary, audio books, podcasts and media/TV. As well, writing today uses far less descriptive and colourful language than it did during the 19th century. Also, reading a book on an LED screen isn't the most fun after a while (blue light filters and/or dark mode help to some degree). Overall, quality should not be forsook for convenience. I genuinely hope people teach their kids these values more... anyway, sorry for the random rant there. 😕
