    Hi from Australia, have purchased another CRZ (2014 model, 46,000 kilometres, one owner). Traded the last one five years ago on a Civic type R(2020 update) tenth generation which I found became an ordeal to get in&out of and the ride became a bit much while recovering from cancer treatments. The last car was a Mazda 3 which we were able to sell to release some cash and purchase another CRZ. On reacquaintance the CRZ is a far more enjoyable drive and the so-called lack of power is a myth. The handling is very balanced, steering direct, doesn’t need much braking as the regenerative setting sets up the car in bends or roundabouts and allows it to get through with a higher speed without having to rev the engine much beyond 3500-4000rpm. The cvt transmission allows relaxed driving and really doesn’t need manual shifting as it gathers speed above walking pace rapidly without having to balance clutch and brakes. Traffic light standing starts are not really relevant in normal driving wheras a smooth line is always faster and doesn’t attract police attention or cause accidents. The type R never felt special until at ridiculous speeds. True you could revel in the no slack steering and brakes and a precise gearbox but you would be noticing how badly the road is under you ( constant vibration and noise). The CRZ allows full deployment of the available power and pretty much runs away from most cars on the bends on a local “highway “that starts at sea level and rises over 600 metres on a 30 kilometre stretch. Ten years old, doesn’t rattle or squeak and achieves 50 mpg(imperial)around town, mid fifties on the highway. Brilliant mix. Cheers.

      Brilliant 👏🏻, firstly I hope things are well for you health wise in your recovery. The CRZ is a fun car, it's one I've been looking at purchasing at some point for a Daily driver/fun project car for myself.

    I have the 2013 version from new. It is a phenomenal car. Your review is almost spot on. When you learn how to drive it, it is economical, comfortable, fast and so much fun to drive in 2022.

      @@pittmotoring I'm so pleased you enjoy the CRZ and those MPG figures are good. We went for a few days in Mid Wales which was 300+ mile trip. Averaging 56MPG. The sort of trip the car loves. The big plus for the young would be low insurance, incredible low cost motoring in a vehicle with inspiring road holding. A most underrated car. Thank you.

      @@malcolmheavens2213 that would be amazing in one of these with the roads around there. Yes that is a very big plus, also they are very popular to modify in the states so there is modification options for the younger generation too.

    I have a 2011 cvt with 340,000 Kms and just added a 2016 manual, honestly I can't get enough, I ride liter bikes and honest a car with 400hp feels just as slow as 130hp, I just drive around town and just stare at the beautiful design it's been 14 years and it has aged beautifully inside and out

    What a great location for this to be filmed. Never thought the CR-Z came with a manual given it was a hybrid and this could be a good alternative for people who want a modernised Honda CR-X. Can’t wait for the POV Sir

    I play music through my USB everyday! XD I don't know what you mean by that?
    Anyway, great vid thank you, should have a thousand more likes, but there you go, i't a niche car with a small following.
    It's got low power, but it's a really flexible motor with decent torque. I try to drive it in low rpm range most of the time, in sport mode only, and i get 6,36 l/100km or 37mpg - it's not a good econ car.
    But it's special, I love how small and low it is compared to newer cars. The bonnet is so low. The doors are so large. The seats are so low. You dive into the CRZ in rather than sit in it. And the shift is the best of them, and I mean best, like bestest of best.

  • @SamWorthReviewing
    @SamWorthReviewing 2 года назад +5

    It's funny how you don't see many of these on the road, maybe they're just underrated for what they are - like you said the timing they came out was possibly too early. The styling has dated very well over the years. Like Armagan said, nice spot to film on.

    • @pittmotoring
      @pittmotoring  2 года назад +1

      To say they are 12 years or so old, they still look great nowadays. Definitely timing, something like this now or over the last 2yrs would have proven to be a lot more popular as a hybrid. For me I say very underrated. They're not very fast mind but the way it drives and handles is brilliant.

    • @projectnorahlyne1018
      @projectnorahlyne1018 2 года назад +1

      Reason you don't really see them, is because they sold just over 4,500 units. 👍👍

    • @paganidude2149
      @paganidude2149 11 месяцев назад

      You don't see them because they didn't sell very well. I own one, and I like it. But where I used to live, I've seen more Ferraris in a week than CR-Zs since they came out. But yea, mpg is not comparable to a regular Civic of the same year. Also, some don't feel it had the spirit of the CR-X. They were only built for 4-5 years due to lack of demand. Shame, but oh well.

    Hello fella, great video, glad you enjoyed the car. There are quite a few mistakes however. This is the 2013-2015 facelift model. The 2010-2012 has different bumpers/skirts, a nickel battery and a light interior. Cost of parts are not cheap for the CRZ and most of them are discontinued. Anything with the SZT part number range has what we call “CRZ tax” only around 4300 CRZs were sold in the UK. The USB does play music via its built in “ipod player” the suspension doesnt change in drive modes. The electric steering changes, the throttle response changes and the level of assist from the ima changes. If your ever in each anglia id be happy to show you around mine and a few other CRZs that i work on. Please dont take this as me being negative cause its a great review, just a few things needed correcting.

If you have 2016 EXL it will even display the album art from the USB and if you have pictures on your thumb drive you can easily customize your display. Part of what makes CRZ's great is they are about 1000 lbs lighter than most cars and shorter wheelbase making them very nimble/agile.

    9:42 You actually can use the USB to play music from. I have a 32GB stick in there with a looot of music.
    Btw, something doesn't math here. Since your car has the S+ button and Li-Ion batteries, it must be newer. 2013 or something like that. Before that, the 2010s, 2011s and probably some of the 2012s had Ni-MH batteries. Just finished a 900 km drive in the Z and I wouldn't mind jumping back in and going for a spin. Not a lot of cars that I drove previously had this quality.
