This mower has been kicking for about 10 years now. Always had a short cord on it after the original snapped and other minor issues with the recoil starter ruclips.net/user/postUgkx-NCBSqqKJlyQ5_JGS_STpsFYihe7bmM3 until I finally had to open it up in an attempt to feed in a new line. I noticed it was all rusty and the coil was going but upon dismantling it was too much of a pain to get it all back in there correctly and opted to just get a new one. not sure why i waited so long to do so but it was a cheap, easy fix and it would have saved me hours of fiddling with the old rusty coil or trying to pull start and having cheap make-shift lines break in my hand during a pull. If yours is scuffed just replace it!
The only problem is the fact that doing this at all is unsafe. If he uses an actual adapter the locking ball will probably catch and he wouldn't be able to pull his hand and drill away fast enough. The engine probably isn't strong enough to break his wrist, but it'd probably be a good sprain if he can't pull away fast enough. That, or the engine breaks from trying to break free from him trying to remove everything
@@tangsoo128 They do make a specific tool for this type of application. I have one that will spin freely when the motor kicks off and not end up wrapping any cord about your hand then. Unfortunately, I don't recall the name of the tool, but I found it at one of the Box stores or online when I was converting a mower to run on propane a couple of years back. I saw it on one of those videos about converting a mower to run on propane, but I don't recall which one. The tool comes in different sizes, too. Not sure what its exact real purpose is for, but I do know it works on my mower and I am pretty sure it would on this guy's cart motor, as well. I also made up the DIY mod this guy did,, but never used it once I found that special tool. This DIY mod could indeed be unsafe with an electric powered drill as you said. That cord could easily wrap in a heartbeat. I had an unsecured Model A Ford carb jump off right off of a bench and the cord of my electric drill wrap about my hand in amazing speed years ago. Believe me, it was an ouchie to my hand that was not forgotten for quite a while.
@@a1930ford it’s just caled an electric start drill bit. But wouldn’t you be able to just use the clutch from the pull cord? Those don’t spin once the engine starts up
Does it work for predator 212, I got a racing fly wheel on mine, and I don't want to crack that trying to start it with the bolt. My problem is I can't start it with the pull cord with out hit the gas, not even with choke on. Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance
Dylan Scott just asking because when I installed the aluminum fly wheel the instructions said do not over tighten the bolt. But it should start turning by then I would think.
my drill turend the wrong way turning engine backward fast and now no spark, gussing the coil made sparks that went inside it damaged it and heat . melted a wire in it.
Until it stalls runs out when you're riding it a half a mile away from your house if you have to push it home because you were too lazy to fix the pull starter

Excellent use of a carriage bolt love it. Tried it worked great!
Thanks man for this idea helped me with my go cart same motor too! Awesome
Are the 669belts all the same for the CVT on my 212.
Thanks for sharing!
How do I start it with out getting out of my seat
Or from a button.
Such a damn good idea
Well done 👏 💡
ingenius!!! and cool music with cool hand gestures and Results!!
I like it👍👍👍 Thanks
How do I push start a 3
Wheeler
Thanks!
Thats Great!
Fantastic
can i do this with a twin
Or ya could just like goto harbor freight & get a 3 pc adapter set for the drill to fit the socket .....🤔
That’s kind of what I thought. Wasn’t sure if I was crazy though lol

Or just go buy a pull cord …
I know this is old but the nut where I’m suppose to start it is stripped does any one know what the part name is so I can look it up plz help
R u talking about the starter nut
get a bold with a rope to it and just pop it on wind n pull
Right but how do you easily access that flywheel on a mower, for example?
You pop off the little cover
@@0eroOverride In mine, I think I'm going to have to cut off the metal grille over the top. (Push mower, standard suburban style.)

All the torque is produced there, it shouldn't break anything trying to crank it
zed4me fuck it I'ma try it out, only in da garage tho, not trying to get stuck out the road with a busted fly wheel. Lol nice video tho bro
Dylan Scott k thanks
Dylan Scott just asking because when I installed the aluminum fly wheel the instructions said do not over tighten the bolt. But it should start turning by then I would think.
do you think a impact gun would be damaging to use, like say a air impact thats 1/2inch drive
Don't see why it would unless something is seized up in the engine
An impact drill can snap the crank shaft only use normal drills not impacts ( I know this is two years old but oh whale)
Yes because a drill has no torque a impact does so it's not gonna spin the motor it's just gonna strip the bolt got to use a dril
@@fastactiontv5546 how does it snap the crank shaft?
No an impact will only tighten the starter nut to the flywheel
Like the music👍👍👌
@Dorian Lee sureeeee
I did this and it snapped the bolt off inside the started
And try not to get your wrist broken 🤣
Nice
song name? btw nice video
Ingenious.
What size socket does it take
Measure your machine genius
Just use an extension
What's that socket size I couldn't see it
Another rocket scientist
Someone is going to get hurt.
All it takes is to have the drill jam and if you are lucky you will just have a few broken fingers
They sell a tool for doing that... it has a one-way clutch so it won't break your wrist when the motor starts. . Amazon, about $20 bucks
That watch tho
This looks awfully dangerous to me, what if the drill doesn't disconnect.
Amazing
So if you don't have electricity, will a battery powered drill do it?
Jason M if the drill has enough battery, sure!
do all pull starts go clockwise?
shalom
What engine is this? I found one in my in-laws attack but it's been painted so there are no identifying markings.
Ohv, prob Honda or Briggs and Stratton
Think an 18v drill would work too?
Yes, but be sure it is strong, for other 18v are just like 12v.
horrible freight sells socket adapters for your drill for like 5$
this guy gets it
my drill turend the wrong way turning engine backward fast and now no spark, gussing the coil made sparks that went inside it damaged it and heat . melted a wire in it.
lol
How did you FIX IT
Clever
Or you could just buy the socket extension that fits in your drill and then break your wrist trying to start it when the drill doesn't pop off
Just need to use a ratcheting breaker bar adapter and you wont break your wrists
The mood music isn't any help
Broke my bolt thanks
bogit and legit driver
I saw a socket crack a guys cheek bone doing this this way...A ratchet attachment will be safer..
and under 10$

LMAO! Thank you for making me laugh.
It's a race kart no worries about that.
Cordless drill pal
Till ya use the wrong gun and it snaps off
is good video but much more bether without this crap music
Your music is too loud and it doesn't explain a dang thing. Horrible.
I hate videos like this
