I have a Champion Generator 196cc that has a very similar but smaller recoil starter that probably needs a new spring or at least a new recoil starter assembly. I’m so glad that you posted your video because I was wanting an inside look of what I may be facing. So I guess that the Predator engine starter recoil is probably the same one as the Honda’ engines use. Best Regards From Rainy Stormy Central Ky.
This video was perfect - My coil spring had come unhooked and I was struggling to get the spring back in - your video was just the ticket to show me how to do it and now I have the recoil working perfectly!
I hate working with those starter springs especially on the small 2 cycle starters. Thanks for the tips Jeremy. Hope you are doing well and didn't get any storm damage.
Went through a few different videos looking for what seemed to be impossible, I couldn’t figure out for the life of me why there was no tension on the pulley (Recoil Starter) after removing retainer spring a few times, I noticed the spring (Starter Return) had to be placed in a certain place, thank you 🙏🏽
started on my Westinghouse 3200 psi press. washer. Recoil taken out....spring rewound...but could not get it set because plastic was broken. 93 degrees....76% humidity...hungary...wife's dawg yappin'...E-bay...30 bucks. Plastic is used on the most dumb areas of wear and tear.
How do you get the pull cord and the tabs to go in the same direction. I recoiled the spring and must've put the cord in erong. The pull cord goes counter clockwise and the tabs come out clockwise. How do I fix this problem. Been trying to fix for a week now
Great video! I am trying the same thing on a Honda F210 (tiller), and that is driving me nuts. No holes to insert a pocket screw driver and even before reaching that point, the spring won't stay after I put it in. Any ideas?
i have the same issue with a echo top handle chainsaw. the recoil kept doing the same thing as in the video. i replaced the spring, it retensioned and then it did the same after a few pulls on it. the new spring was bent when i took it apart again. any idea whats causing this?
I tembet how many tines repairing are rope Starter on are Nclane with 2.5 hise Powet briggs and Stratton And are Jing o Lawn edger with same Type. And even have to buy a tabg adapter when the hild down Tabs broke off

Done this many times at work . Got the same Stihl screwdriver just for doing this also..
Great video - thank you. I was told this old machine could not be fixed by a repair centre but thanks for your help, I’ve managed to do just that!

Ha! my spring was not broken but had disengaged from the tab. Thanks for this. I am back on track out here in my offgrid building project!
Another great video by the MowerMedic!👍
Here I was trying to make it into a spool first instead of putting hook on first then make it coil. Smarter nit harder. Thank you good sir!
Thank you I always end up with string hanging down after I replace the string. Man I wish you had a shop here in Sacramento
You make this look so easy. Great video!

My recoil starter reel is solid no slots how do I replace the rope?
Why does my spring keep coming off the catch ?
Not as hard to do as people (customers) think!
But wear goggles when you are dealing with compressed springs, or it could be goodbye eyes.
